Study of rainfall trend is of great importance in India where food security and consequently economy primarily dependent on rainfall. Present work is carried out to perform the detailed analysis of temporal variability in North East India rainfall. Temporal variation in monthly, seasonal and annual rainfall over northeast India (NEI) is studied using monthly data for 150 years (1857-2006). Magnitude of trend in time series data is determined by using both parametric and non-parametric test i.e linear regression and Man-Kendall test. Abstract. Climate variability in the North Atlantic sector is commonly ascribed to the North Atlantic Oscillation. However, recent studies have shown that taking into account the second and third mode of variability (namely the East Atlantic – EA – and the Scandinavian – SCA – patterns) greatly improves our understanding of their controlling mechanisms, as well as their impact on climate. The most commonly used EA and SCA indices span the period from 1950 to present, which is too short, for example, to calibrate palaeoclimate records or assess their variability over multi-decadal scales. ABSTRACTIn this article, the relationship between the monthly precipitation in 30 European cities and towns, and two Algerian ones, and the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) index is characterized using the Vector Seasonal Shifting Mean and Covariance Autoregressive model, extended to contain exogenous variables. The results, based on monthly time series from 1851 up until 2020, include shifting monthly means for the rainfall series and the estimated coefficients of the exogenous NAO variable. They suggest that in the north and the west, the amount of rain in the boreal winter months has increa

AbstractUncertainties in the timing of a seasonal ice cover in the Arctic Ocean depend on model physics and parameterizations, natural variability at decadal timescales and uncertainties in climate scenarios and forcings. We use the Gridded Monthly Sea-Ice Extent and Concentration, 1850 Onward product to assess the simulated decadal variability from the Community Earth System Model – Large Ensemble (CESM-LE) in the Pacific, Eurasian and Atlantic sector of the Arctic where a longer observational record exists. Results show that sea-ice decadal (8-16 years) variability in CESM-LE is in agreement

Introduction This article examines American Conspiracy: The Octopus Murders (2024), a four-part documentary released on Netflix. Directed by Zachary Treitz, the documentary follows young photojournalist Christian Hansen as he tries to solve the mysterious death of Danny Casolaro. In 1991, Casolaro was found deceased in a hotel room while tracking officials in the CIA and former Reagan White House. He had planned to write an explosive book about what he termed “The Octopus”, an octuplet of overlapping conspiracies that transpired in the 1980s. At the time, local officials ruled Casolaro’s death

The Digital TurnMuch of the 19th century disappeared from public view during the 20th century. Historians recovered what they could from archives and libraries, with the easy pickings-the famous and the fortunate-coming first. Latterly, social and political historians of different hues determinedly sought out the more hidden, forgotten, and marginalised. However, there were always limitations to resources-time, money, location, as well as purpose, opportunity, and permission. 'History' was principally a professionalised and privileged activity dominated by academics who had preferential access
