Abstract:
An Automated Teller Machine (ATM), also known as Automated Banking Machine (ABM) or cash machine and several other names, is a computerized telecommunication device that provides access to financial transactions in a public space without the need for a cashier or other intermediaries. The Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) has been widely used due to its convenience but also serves as a source of bacterial contamination. The aim of this work was to determine the bacterial load of surfaces of selected ATMs in Kano metropolis. Swab samples were collected from four (4) selected areas and ten (10) different study sites. The samples were collected using swabbing technique and standard plate count was employed for the enumeration of bacterial counts. The mean bacterial counts ranged between the lowest count of 1.20 x 102cfu/cm2 and the highest count of 1.78 x 102cfu/cm2 and the mean count of individual machine ranged from 1.70 x 101 cfu/cm2 upto 6.00 x 101cfu/cm2. All the ATMs were found to be contaminated. It could thus be concluded that the ATMs studied present a very great risk factor for cross contamination. The general public should therefore be enlightened on the possible health hazards associated with such items like ATMs and thus advised for strict personal hygiene and regular washing of hands before and after contact with ATMs so as to reduce the possible transfer of bacterial diseases and/or infections. Abstract:
Automated Teller Machines (ATM) are visited everyday by millions of people. This machine is accessible to the general public irrespective of class, age or race. The contact point of all ATM machines is the hand which on their own are ‘vaults’ of microorganisms. An elaborate survey was taken for complete assessment of possible microbial contamination in the Federal Polytechnic Ede campus. Selected ATM machines on campus were used as case study to characterize, identify and determine the degree of bacterial contamination of microorganisms and their potential as reservoir of microbes. Swabs were collected from each ATM screen, buttons, floor, user’s hand, and exposure of plates. After collection of the samples, they were plated in nutrient agar. The results showed the presence of increased bacterial count subsequently, most pathogens on characterization revealed the genus of the particular organisms E. coli, Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella, Micrococcus, Salmonella and Serratia. The study showed the potential hazard inherent in ATM machine usage and draws attention to our level of hand hygiene compliance.

Abstract:
The Automated Teller Machines (ATM) are used for cash withdrawals. Meanwhile as ATM lacks security, thefts occurring in the ATMs are also high. Our proposed system minimizes those break-ins occurring in the ATM’s by instigating a low cost standalone embedded sys-tem using Arduino Microcontroller. This system is proposed for ATM security, comprising of the components namely RGB tag, Global System for Mobile communication (GSM), Global Positioning System (GPS), Virtual Keyboard and camera. Authentication by virtual keyboard thus helps the public to protect their credentials from being captured by malicious bots, key loggers and spyware. Whenever theft occurs, Buzzer makes an alarm, DC Motor turns ON and the door of ATM is closed. The nearby police station and corresponding bank authorities is alerted by the GSM Modem that sends messages along with the location. This will prevent the robberies and the person in-volving in the robbery can be easily caught. In short, it discusses the methods that are used to detect the venture, initiate preemptive measures and forewarn the officials through GSM network. This system thus heightens the safety of ATM users as well as the ATM’s against forthcoming attacks effectively.

Abstract:
There are many scenarios in society with thefts and crimes involved in Automated Teller Machines (ATM). These events are increasing day-by-day and which is also increasing the complexities on the crime investigation agencies. In order to deal with these situations, we have proposed an automated security method inside ATMs using image processing techniques which can alert the concerned authorities immediately whenever these types of situations arise. Hybrid method with Viola-Jones algorithm has been used for face recognition along with the Haar-cascade features. In the case of objects such as knife, gun etc. inside an ATM, combination of SVM and random forest algorithms are used for object detection. TensorFlow with machines learning algorithms have been used in the hybrid methodology. Android application has been developed to prevent and alert the crimes and send alert messages to the concerned. Speech alert system is developed to assist blind and physically challenged people.

Abstract:
Automated teller machine (ATM) nowadays are a favourite spot for attackers as they are available everywhere and are much easier to rob. Generally, ATM attacks can be either physical ATM attacks or ATM-related fraud attacks. In this paper the idea of an ATM system with multilayer security is proposed with the help of internet of things (IoT), fingerprint identification and face recognition to increase the security of ATM. The physical ATM counter attacks can be identified by using specific sensors to detect changes in vibration and temperature in the ATM counter. To prevent ATM related fraud attacks the proposed system has additional security features like fingerprint identification and face recognition along with ATM number verification. The convolutional neural network (CNN) and machine learning based face recognition is used in this work which is quite reliable. Failures in any of the above steps cancel the transactions and so the proposed system provides multi layer security which makes it impossible for the attackers to break the ATM security. The proposed system will help to increase the security of the ATM and provide safe and secure ATM transactions.

Abstract:
This paper presented a new multilingual language for Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in Uganda which serves as an extension to the existing Languages. The existing ATMs have only English, Kiswahili and Luganda as the only available languages. Hence, findings revealed that there are still some prevalent languages e.g. Ateso language that are widely spoken among the people of Uganda which the present ATMs in the country have not captured. The objective of this paper was to propose the integration of the new language (Ateso language) to the existing languages. In this paper, a new language was adopted when it was realized that some people especially in the Buganda region could not manage to interact with the ATMs because they were illiterate. The developed multilingual system prototype was tested using some empirical data and was found to successfully imitate ATM transactions in the local Uganda languages. The results of the study supported the positive impacts on customers that reside in the rural areas since its improved interaction of more users on the ATMs. This paper demonstrated the use of Ateso language for different transactions on the ATM system. The implementation by the banking institutions can aid the ATM users to make more flexible decisions on the usage of the ATM machines.

The purpose of the present study was to assess the benefits of providing on-line training for an automatic teller machine (ATM). An ATM simulator was developed for the study, and older adults (65-80) served as the subjects. Subjects were assigned to one of two conditions. Half of the subjects were given a written description of how the ATM worked. The other half went through an on-line tutorial, which showed them how to perform transactions on the simulator. After performing 30 transactions on the simulator, subjects were transferred to a new ATM simulator that was topographically different. The subjects who received the on-line tutorial performed more transactions correctly during acquisition, and were better able to transfer their skills to a different ATM simulator and to novel transactions.

Abstract Research has shown that ATMs provide an extremely useful service to customers but the machine is characterized by several service quality inadequacies, and at times it can be very frustrating to use. Consequently, this study investigated socio-demographic factors and service quality dimensions as determinants of ATM usage in Lagos State, Nigeria. A questionnaire was used to collect data from bank customers who use ATM and the data were analysed using General Linear Model (GLM) and multiple regression. The results from the analyses reveal that socio-demographic factors, such as age, education, and income, influence ATM usage, while gender and occupation do not influence ATM usage. The study also revealed that all the service quality dimensions identified in the study have a significant positive influence on ATM usage. When the joint effect of socio-demographic factors and service quality dimensions on ATM usage was assessed, it was found that service quality had a greater influence on ATM usage than socio-demographic factors.

This paper studies a competitive Hotelling-style market with two symmetric banks that decide the pricing and location of their automated teller machines (ATMs). Two different systems are considered: An unregulated model wherein banks are allowed to set surcharges, and a regulated model in which surcharges are banned. We derive equilibrium outcomes and compare them in the two systems, and find that banks always maintain a certain distance between ATMs. That distance is larger, indeed maximized, under the regulatory scheme. We also show that, surprisingly, banks always perform better in the regulated model, while consumers may be worse off.

Abstract:
Automated teller machines have altered the relationship between banks and their customers and competitive relationships among banks. ATMs are self-service vendor machine it permits customers to do anywhere, anytime banking both the bank and customers stand to gain in several ways. In contrast, ATMs bring down the cost per transaction, increase efficiency by reducing the workload of staff, they help to increase accuracy, speed, save time, money and effort of customers. Thus ATM impacts customer services and leads to better customer satisfaction. They enable the bank to transact more business by offering various services in a cost-effective way on one side and to get more customer satisfaction on the other. To analyze the relationship between demographic variables and preferences to use ATM, a structured questionnaire was used to collect the data from a random sample of 50 customers from a syndicate bank in Bhadravati, percentage analysis and chi-square test are applied for data analysis and interpretation. Finally, it attempts to offer suitable suggestions and conclusions to enhance the awareness of ATMs and other related modern services provided by the banks.

Abstract:
An Automated Teller Machine (ATM) is a safety-critical and real-time system that is highly complicated in design and implementation. This article presents the formal design, specification, and modeling of the ATM system using a denotational mathematics known as Real-Time Process Algebra (RTPA). The conceptual model of the ATM system is introduced as the initial requirements for the system. The architectural model of the ATM system is created using RTPA architectural modeling methodologies and refined by a set of Unified Data Models (UDMs), which share a generic mathematical model of tuples. The static behaviors of the ATM system are specified and refined by a set of Unified Process Models (UPMs) for the ATM transition processing and system supporting processes. The dynamic behaviors of the ATM system are specified and refined by process priority allocation, process deployment, and process dispatch models. Based on the formal design models of the ATM system, code can be automatically generated using the RTPA Code Generator (RTPA-CG), or be seamlessly transformed into programs by programmers. The formal models of ATM may not only serve as a formal design paradigm of real-time software systems, but also a test bench for the expressive power and modeling capability of exiting formal methods in software engineering.

Abstract:
Automated teller machines (ATM) are widely being used to carry out banking transactions and are becoming one of the necessities of everyday life. ATMs facilitate withdrawal, deposit, and transfer of money from one account to another round the clock. However, this convenience is marred by criminal activities like money snatching and attack on customers, which are increasingly affecting the security of bank customers. In this paper, we propose a video based framework that efficiently identifies abnormal activities happening at the ATM installations and generates an alarm during any untoward incidence. The proposed approach makes use of motion history image (MHI) and Hu moments to extract relevant features from video. Principle component analysis has been used to reduce the dimensionality of features and classification has been carried out by using support vector machine. Analysis has been carried out on different video sequences by varying the window size of MHI. The proposed framework is able to distinguish the normal and abnormal activities like money snatching, harm to the customer by virtue of fight, or attack on the customer with an average accuracy of 95.73%.

You Only Look Once (YOLO). Abstract:
The introduction of automatic teller machines (henceforth ATMs) brought dramatic changes in the way people do banking. ATMs have become a daily necessity and they are widely used for their convenience and accessibility. However, there have been several major challenges and issues faced in delivering quality service in ATM banking. Since the use of ATMs involves an exchange of information between a machine and a customer, this study investigated the impact of information quality (i.e., quality of information the machine provides) and ergonomics (i.e., design quality of the machine) to the service quality of ATMs. To this end, the study geared towards providing an improvement framework for the ATM design to improve service quality. A random survey among ATM users in Metro Manila was conducted to gather data with regard to their usage and perceived service quality of ATMs. Through statistical analyses, it was found that ATM usage varied according to age, education and socio-economic status of customers. ATM users were typically young, more literate and have higher economic status. More importantly, it was found that components of information and ergonomic qualities had fair influence to service quality, with just a few components having significant impact.

Information and communication technology achieved mass improvement on ATMs cyber-security but there is a strong need to strengthen all parts of operation. ATM skimmers are card readers that collect the data from magnetic card stripe that is attached to the real payment terminals; especially criminals can create cloned cards to steal money from the bank account. After these also we think that ATM is the safest place. But, nowadays in ATM, robbery happens easily by damaging the system for money. In this paper we bring an idea about biometric based system to enhance security. There is signal processing which alerts the police and gives information to bank.

Abstract:
This study explored the issue of whether the use of the Automated Teller Machines (ATM) as a service delivery tool in the banking industry of many developing countries has achieved its intended objective of increasing the effectiveness of customer service provision and reducing the workload of bank tellers. The purpose is to understand customers’ behaviour towards the use of ATM as a banking service delivery tool, and the influence of such customer-usage behaviour on the banks’ human resource capacity building, in terms of employee workload relief and performance. This is because most banks in subSaharan African countries have introduced the ATM in bids to satisfying customers’ service needs and making the work of employees easier. Data was collected using questionnaires that were administered to bank customers who use the ATM facility, as well as bank managers. The findings showed that though most bank customers who use the ATM services perceive the ATM as a convenient, reliable, accurate and suitable service delivery tool for their banking transactions; they still underutilize the ATM’s service capacity by choosing to go to the banking halls to make cash withdrawals of amounts that could be obtained from the ATMs. It is also found that by virtue of this customer behaviour of not using the ATM’s to their full potential, the relief that it is expected to provide bank tellers is not realized. It is concluded that because of customer behavioral challenges to the effective utilization of the ATM technology, banks in developing economies not benefiting from its full potential as a customer service delivery tool, and also as a strategic workload reliever for tellers who service customers inside the banking halls.

Abstract:
In this paper, we discuss process of design and development of talking ATM for visually impaired people. Automated Teller Machine (ATM) has become vital part of our life to perform financial transactions without intervention of human banker. ATM facilitates cash withdrawal, balance check, mini statement and fund transfer. But, these banking services using ATM cannot be directly used by some set of people of society such as people with low vision, visually impaired, illiterate as lack of accessing ATM through screens. Even they can be defrauded at ATM centers. To digitally include these set of people, talking ATMs are evolved. Talking ATM provides accessibility to ATM services by providing audio component. Many ATMs employ headphone jack that facilitates user to do transaction with security. The audio information is generated either using pre-recorded speech corpus or through speech synthesis engine. The paper summarizes how ATM works, need, proposed solution of talking ATM for visually impaired users, design and development talking ATM using concatenated Text To Speech.

With the automated teller machine (ATM) cash replenishment problem, banks aim to reduce the number of out-of-cash ATMs and duration of out-of-cash status. On the other hand, they want to reduce the cost of cash replenishment, as well. The problem conventionally involves forecasting ATM cash withdrawals, and then cash replenishment optimization based on the forecast. The authors assume that reliable forecasts are already obtained for the amount of cash needed in ATMs. The focus of the article is cash replenishment optimization. After introducing linear programming-based solutions, the authors propose a solution based on dynamic programming. Experiments conducted on real data reveal that the proposed approach can find the optimal solution more efficiently than linear programming.

Abstract:
This study examines the impact of automated teller machine (ATM) service quality on customer satisfaction and its effect on customer loyalty. The data were collected from 360 ATM users in Karachi, Pakistan, using a structured questionnaire. After the data screening process and the removal of outliers, 322 responses were found useable. To identify the dimensions of ATM service quality and their relationship with customer satisfaction and customer loyalty, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling (SEM) were used. The findings indicate that (a) fulfilment, reliability, ease of use, and security and privacy are the major dimensions of ATM service quality, (b) dimensions such as convenience and responsiveness are positively insignificantly correlated with customer satisfaction and (c) customer satisfaction significantly influences customer loyalty. This study suggests concrete strategies for bank managers to improve customer experience with ATM and identifies the issues to be resolved in order to improve ATM service quality.
