Abstract:

Vår uppgift från Special-Elektronik var att konstruera en moduluppbyggd produkt för styrning via LAN. Den skulle kunna användas till att styra lampor och kontrollera strömbrytare i ett hus, via befintligt TCP/IP-nätverk som eliminerar viss del av kabeldragningen.

För att lösa denna uppgift använde vi oss av en enchipsdator, en Xport från Lantronix och en kontrollserver. Xporten fungerar som mastermodul och översätter kommunikationen från TCP/IP till seriell och tvärt om.

Som slavmodul valde vi att använda oss av en enchipsdator av typen ATMEGA8, där vi utnyttjar 8 digitala in- och utgångar.


Our task from Special-Elektronik was to construct a LAN interfaced control system. The product may be used for controlling the light bulbs and reading the switches in a house, using available TCP/IP-network which decreases needed cable length.

To solve the task we used a microcontroller, an Xport from Lantronix and a control server. The Xport works as a master module and translates the communication from TCP/IP to serial and back. As slave module we decided to use an ATMEGA8 microcontroller, in which we use 8 digital in- and outports.

Abstract:
This master‘s thesis describes the design of a system usable for wireless measurement of the tire pressure. The goal is to make a theoretical acquintace with the wireless measurement of a tire pressure. Within the master‘s thesis was suggested device at the block level. For individual blocks have been chosen specific circuits. For the device has been selected the pressure sensor SP100-7AT, the microcontrollers Atmega8 and Atmega16 and the wireless module RFM22. The result of the work is a functional prototype of device including software for microprocessors. Final solution was tested during the experimental measurement.

Thesis deals with electronic ignition for a two-cylinder two-stroke engines. In the thesis is described the existing ignition system. In the thesis are described measurement options of the position ot the engine crankshaft. The ignition system is designed mainly for motor JAWA, CZ and motor Trabant. The design is focused on reliability of entire circuit. The main advantage of the entire proposed design is possibility to adjustable ignition curve, depending on several external parameters such as speed or temperature of the engine. The proposed ignition has been tested in vehicle Velorex.

The aim of the study was to design, build and experimentally verify a programmable thermostat. The main control unit of the thermostat is an ATmega168 microcontroller which communicates via I2C bus with remote MAX6615 chips. They are used to measure temperature with a set of thermistors and control the flow of the hot water in the heating system. This work deals with issues of remote control through the I2C bus, servomotor steering, precision temperature measurement and describes the inner workings of the system. The next chapter includes a proposal for possible extension of the system. The last part contains the manual of the control menu structure and a brief description of the software.

This thesis describes the design and subsequent construction of a board computer for a motorbike, using a GPS module. Vehicle speed, distance travelled and the motor's rotations (RPM) are among the basic elements that are measured and shown. Furthermore, the mechanism allows one to measure and show the average consumption, the temperature of the surrounding environment as well as the motor's temperature, battery voltage, current time, and, with the help of the GPS module, the current GPS location of the vehicle, including altitude. The vehicle's entire journey can be saved to the memory card for further processing in a PC.

Šiuos spausdintuvus remontuojant kasos aparatuose, iškyla pavojus, panaikinti kasos aparato atmintį, kurioje saugomi programiniai ir apyvartų duomenys. Spausdinimo įrenginio „CITIZEN MD-910“ patikros stendas kuriamas, tam, kad palengvinti kasos aparatų remonto darbus, taip sumažinant tikimybę panaikinti remontuojamo kasos aparato atmintį. Darbo tikslas – išnagrinėti spausdinimo įrenginio „CITIZEN MD-910“ veikimo principą, elektrines bei mechanines charakteristikas. Taip pat, išsiaiškinti spausdintuvo dvigubos galvos adatų išsidėstymą, sukurti spausdinimo algoritmą, simbolių biblioteką ir valdymo programą. Spausdintuvas „CITIZEN MD-910“ bus dedamas į stendą ir pasiuntus į jį iš valdymo programos tekstą, tikrinamas jo veikimas. Stendas atitiks spausdintuvo realų darbinį režimą. Iš to, kaip vyks spausdinimas, ir iš atspausdinto teksto ant popieriaus juostos, bus sprendžiama apie spausdintuvo mechaninius ir elektronikos gedimus, adatų veikimą ir jų mušimo jėgą į popierių, bei tinkamumą tolesnei eksploatacijai. Spausdinimo įrenginio „CITIZEN MD-910“ patikros stendo pagrindinė kūrimo priežastis yra ta, jog nėra sukurtų panašių analogų, kurie palengvintų šių kasos aparatų spausdinimo įrenginių remonto darbus.
Dot impact printer mechanism “CITIZEN MD-910” is used in cash registers as a printer for customer receipts and journal paper ribbons. This printer is widely used in the cash registers such as ELCOM EURO-2000M, CASIO FE-800, DATECS MP-500, KONIC SR508F. Repairing these printers inside the cash registers there is a risk to delete the cash register’s memory in which programs and data of a turnover is stored. The dot impact printer mechanism “CITIZEN MD-910” test stand is being worked out to make the cash registers repairing easier and in this way to reduce the risk of deleting cash registers memory. The printer “CITIZEN MD-910” will be placed in the test stand and its work will be tested by sending text from the operating program into it. The stand will simulate real working conditions of the printer. Analyzing the printing process and the printed text on the paper ribbon it will be possible to decide on printer’s mechanical and electrical damage, work of wires and force they dot the paper, also, further usability. There are no similar analogues which could make the repairing of the cash registers dot impact printer mechanism “CITIZEN MD-910” easier and this is the main reason to work out the dot impact printer mechanism “CITIZEN MD-910” test stand.

This Master´s thesis deals with the design and implementation of System for remote measuring and data storing in central databese. The system consists of server, which collects data and clients that send data to the server. On the server is installed program Apache in which runs utility script for collecting and evaluating data, written in PHP. Data are stored in MySQL relational database and can be clearly displayed. The client consists of microcontroller ATmega16, which evaluates data from sensors. These data are then transferred via Ethernet using the HTTP protocol through the module XPort.

Il sistema di acquisizione dati del nuovo layer IBL di ATLAS conta attualmente 15 schede ROD attive sull’esperimento. In ognuna di queste schede sono presenti due catene JTAG per la programmazione e il test. La prima catena è facilmente accessibile da remoto tramite uno standard VME o Ethernet, mentre la seconda è accessibile solo tramite un programmatore JTAG. Accedere alla catena secondaria di tutte 15 le ROD è in primo luogo sconveniente poiché sarebbero necessari 15 programmatori diversi; in secondo luogo potrebbe risultare difficoltoso doverli gestire tutti da un unico computer. Nasce così l’esigenza di sviluppare un’elettronica aggiuntiva con funzione di controllo che riesca, tramite un unico programmatore, a distribuire un segnale JTAG in ingresso a 15 uscite selezionabili in maniera esclusiva. In questa tesi vengono illustrati i vari passaggi che hanno portato alla realizzazione del progetto ponendo attenzione alla scelta, al funzionamento e all’eventuale programmazione dei componenti elettronici che lo costituiscono. Per ogni parte è stato realizzato un ambiente hardware di prototipazione che ne ha garantito il test delle funzionalità. La scheda, basata su un microcontrollore ATmega 328-P, è attualmente in fase di completamento nel laboratorio di progettazione elettronica dell’INFN di Bologna. Il prototipo studiato e realizzato tramite il lavoro di questa tesi verrà anche utilizzato in ambiente CERN una volta che ne sarà convalidata l’affidabilità e potrà anche essere facilmente adattato a tutti gli esperimenti che usano un protocollo JTAG per la programmazione di dispositivi remoti.

The goal of diploma thesis is design of programmable control system. This system can be used for regulation of basic parameters in an aquarium. Primary parameters for selection of this device are the price and the easy realization of final device. In first step there are selected parameters, which are needed to control. In second step there is described which kind of sensors can be used for measuring of selected parameters and suitable regulation of necessary parameters. The device is supposed to communicate with PC by USB and this communication is going to be compatible with an old RS-232. Device must be completed with hardware design. Device will be in principle system with real time, that is the reason why device will contain microcomputer. A microcomputer must communicate with other integrated circuit in the device and it supposes to communicate with PC. In specific chapter it will be described, how many different kinds of communication it is possible. For microcontroller it is necessary to create a program, which can figure the measured parameters and it also allows setting up the way how parameters can be regulated. Measured parameters are supposed to storage in the specific memory for the later interpretation. The completely device must be put into a case, which is calculating with a damp place. There must be created a host application for PC. This application suppose to detect if device is connected, figure measured parameters and also allows to set up the way, how to regulate the parameters and display the storages parameters. The application is suppose to run on the operation system created by Microsoft (Windows XP and Windows Vista or later). Diploma thesis contains a problem of the analysis which parameters may be controlled and the way how it can be controlled. There will be selected the sensors, which are suppose to measure and there will be described the basic data transfer and the specifications. It will also contain description of the hardware and software implementation of the device and possibilities of the user’s settings. There will be described the host application and its possibilities. Finally there will be described a functionality of the device and the host application. It will be also imagined some system upgrades for future.

This paper describes complete design of timer for RC models. Described timer has three PWM outputs. With these outputs it is possible to connect two independent servo-motors and engine controller. 1 signal. The whole is controlled by 8-bit microprocessor. The time records are stored in external EEPROM, that can be programmed using I2C. Paper further discuss design of programming, which can be easily programmed the memory of EEPROM by the PC or smartphone. Maxicap AB är ett företag som utvecklar och tillverkar elektronisk utrustning för bland annat olika mätuppgifter. Målet med detta examensjobb var att undersöka och implementera en stabil trådlös dataöverföringsmetod med den utrustning som Maxicap ville använda. Detta skulle åstadkommas/testas genom att sända temperatursensorvärden trådlöst med Nordic Semiconductor’ssändtagare (eng. transceiver) styrda av Atmel’s mikrokontrollers. Arbetet fokuserade på att få till denna stabila trådlösa överföring genom att implementera frekvenshoppning och datapaketskontroll på datatrafiken inom det fria 2,4 GHz ISM-bandet. All den C-kod som utvecklades i detta arbete är skriven för att vara lättanpassad till flera olika modeller av mikrokontrollers inom Atmel’s produktserie samt att kunna användas till andra liknande projekt. Koden är väldokumenterad med kommentarer vid varje funktionsblock som beskriver vad funktionerna gör och hur de skall användas. Arbetet resulterade i två fungerande prototyper. En enhet känner av temperaturen i luften och skickar sedan detta temperaturvärde trådlöst till enhet nummer två. Detta värde samt några inställningsvärden för mottagaren visas sedan på den enhetens display.

Upcycling can be described as an activity where outdated or discarded products are used as raw-materials in the construction of a new object, for which an increased quality or value is achieved. Some ideas for upcycling of technologically simple products have prooved successful, in the sense that those ideas have become widespread and practically implemented within a certain target audience. This thesis explores how an idea concerning upcycling of an electric product can be developed into a prototype, with the intent to simplify application of the idea within the target audience of electronic hobbyists. This is achieved through the development of a prototype for an adapter, the purpose of which is to extend the functionality of a character based LCD module with the Hitachi HD44780 control circuit. This allows for using such LCD module for displaying text in additional languages, and (for certain applications) using it as a substitute for a monochromatic graphical LCD module. The conclusion of the study is that the adapter prototype is capable of increasing the number of user defined characters that can be displayed simeltanously by a character LCD module, and that the prototype may be of use for certain types of applications within the intended target audience.
"Upcycling" kan beskrivas som en syssla där föråldrade eller kasserade produkter används som material vid tillverkning av ett nytt föremål, vilket har högre kvalitet eller värde. Det finns exempel på idéer för "upcycling" av teknologiskt enkla produkter vilka har visat sig framgångsrika, i bemärkelsen att de har nått spridning och tillämpas praktiskt inom någon målgrupp. I detta arbete undersöks hur en idé för "upcycling" av en elektrisk produkt kan utvecklas till en prototyp, med syftet att underlätta tillämpning av denna idé inom målgruppen elektronikhobbyister. Detta sker genom utveckling av en prototyp till en adapter, som utökar funktionaliteten hos en teckendisplaymodul med styrkretsen Hitachi HD44780. Adapterns funktion är att öka det antal användardefinierade tecken som kan visas på en sådan teckendisplaymodul. Detta möjliggör att teckendisplaymodulen kan användas för att visa text på fler språk, och att den för vissa ändamål kan användas som substitut för en monokrom grafisk displaymodul. Slutsatsen av arbetet är att prototypen av denna adapter kan användas för att öka det antal användardefinierade tecken som samtidigt kan visas på en teckendisplaymodul, samt att prototypen kan vara användbar för vissa syften inom den avsedda målgruppen.

Abstract:
This report studies the possibility of using some sort of radio sender and transmitter in order to position skis lost in powder snow. It is concluded that a RF-solution on the 433 MHz frequency should be the most efficient. Different forms of directional antennas are examined and studies show that in theory the best suited is the so called “Yagi-Uda antenna”. A solution based on using a Receive Signal Strength Indicator value together with the above mentioned directional antenna is developed. To control these different components microprocessors from Atmel is used. These are programmed in C and compiled with Atmel’s own compiler AVR Studio. Despite all efforts it is proven that the prototype does not perform in an adequate way. An alternative solution based on “byte-loss-rate” is then developed and the results are slightly improved. Nevertheless, the directional properties of the antenna are still too poor why other alternatives are discussed. No fully functioning prototype is achieved but good grounds for further development of the prototype into something that fulfills the specifications are produced.

In this thesis, a simple small vehicle powered by differential chassis was projected and constructed. The vehicle is controlled manually with the help of user program on personal computer (PC). The software equipment allows recording trajectory run by the small vehicle and then repeating it automatically. The operation system of the small vehicle is based on microcontroller ATmega16 series. Communication between the microcontroller and PC is carried out through RS232 serial bus. The vehicle has digital compass and five reflex sensors that serve for obstruction detection in the closest vicinity of the vehicle. Power unit of the vehicle consists of seven NiCd cells with the capacity of 500 mAh. Propellant unit is powered directly from NiCd cells. Voltage of 5 V for feeding of the control electronics is gained through the set up clasp source of voltage connected to NiCd cells.

My master thesis is focused on intorducing, analysing and describing the microprocessor controlled charger. The thesis is firstly describing and analysing the topic of accumulator cell charging for common technologies. Than there is detailed description of specific accumulator cell types (NiMH, NiCd and Li-ion) which is the microprocessor controled charger intend for. The next part of this thesis is showing the proposal of the charger. There is the block diagram, charger detailed schematics based on this block diagram. There is also list of the possible useful componets neccessary for charger assembling. All this is used for the final proposal of the chager itself. The main scope of this thesis is than the charger's microcontroler firmware decribed at the end of this thesis. Finaly confirmation of the charger proper proposal and assembly is the battery charging with the given basic parameters.

This diploma thesis deals with the design of a small temperature test chamber. The first chapter is a study of temperature sensors suitable for realization of temperature chambers. The conclusion of this chapter is devoted to digital temperature sensor DS18B20. The second chapter deals with the principles and basic parameters of Peltier cells. In the third chapter design of individual electronic components of the temperature chamber is realized (circuit diagrams and PCBs), including a description of basic features of the microcontroller firmware. The fourth chapter is devoted to a description of the basic properties of the application software and a description of the communication protocol. The last two chapters deal with the construction of the temperature chamber and the results of final functional test.

The thesis focuses on consideration of possible ways how to realize multi-state modulators for a laboratory instrument. This instrument will illustrate signals, which partake on generation QAM modulation. The design of the laboratory instrument includes theoretic schemata and the execution of a prototype. There are theoretical facts of multi-state signals and multi-state modulations in this thesis. A simple block diagram of the laboratory instrument is made by the theory of creating quadrature amplitude modulation. For each block there are made several schemata, which are compiled to the global scheme. A printed circuit board and the structure items are made by the aid of the global scheme. The next part is devoted to a software facility for a used microprocessor, which ensures the whole function of the laboratory instrument. The final section deals with measuring, which checks the function of the modulator and the right setting coder’s constellation diagrams.

This Master’s thesis solves a design and construction of device for gathering and transfer of data into computer. The device should replace graph plotter, by which is measured the optical intensity of a laser beam. From this characteristic it is possible to determine other parameters of the laser beam, such as halfwidth of the beam, angle of divergence and Rayleigh length. The described device - “data gatherer” - measures two voltage values – voltage detected on photodiode and voltage detected on distance moved by photodiode. Measured values of voltage are processed and sent through a serial line into the computer. A pre-amplifier is connected to the control part for both channels of measured values with possibility of amplification. Computer application, which performs graphic interpretation of the measured values, serves as user control peripheral. The product of this project is compact device operating under OS Windows with graphic output.

This diploma thesis describes the standard IEEE802.15.4 and Zigbee for wireless sensor networks. These norms are described in detail in the first two chapters. The main priority of the wireless sensor networks is to minimize the power of the devices and the price while maximizing the reliability of the data transfer. Minimum consumption is provided by the significantly lowered complexity in comparison to the standard wireless networks. Further, the design of the concept of the complex and universal hardware platform focused on intelligent building is described. Software implementation of those norms is described in the chapters five and six. Finally, comparison of the designed hardware platform and the other commercial platforms is described in the last chapter.

Diploma thesis solves how to create system for measurement of little liquid flows. The basic types of liquid flowmeter, which are possible used for measurement of little liquid flows, are described in the introduction part of thesis. The limit for little flow is often determined as flow 100 mg.min-1 and low. Second part of this thesis describes the ways of capillary production and practical experiments with them. Thesis is focused to thick film technology and LTCC technology. Next part of this work is solution of simple measuring unit for measurement of little flows less than 100 mg.min 1, which is controlled by microprocessor ATmega16. The measuring unit can be worked separately or can be connected to PC. The next possibility of flowmeter optimisation is summarized in end of thesis.

This thesis deals with the history of a method of plants cultivation without original substrate. The method is hydroponics and its subsequent development is called aeroponics. This work outlines the design of the whole aeroponic system including a control unit. The control unit has been designed to control the injection of nutrient solution, which is essential to the life of plants.Further, the control unit performs the control of lighting period, temperature, air flow and also regulation of nutrient solution pH. The control unit also keeps records of all data necessary for the monitoring process and for the evaluation of time differencies in the system.

The subject of this diploma thesis, is the Internet of Things, and its use in applied practice, with a subsequent design of a custom system of smart home automatization. It acquaints the reader with the issues of automated home and smart systems, including a basic familiarization of regulations as declared by law about electronic devices. The attributes of miniature computer platforms, developmental boards, and wireless modules for the design of custom systems are analyzed and compared. The biggest part of the thesis is dedicated to a design of a custom system, specifically designing the central processing module and other controlling modules for controlling various electric home appliances. This thesis deals with the design and implementation of a control system that complements the existing BS110 flip-dot display panel and enables Ethernet and wireless communication. It first briefly discusses the original use of the display, and gives an overview of the display types. This is followed by an analysis, testing and repair of the BS110 panel, followed by a description of the proposed concept and the development of the control computers and their circuitry. For these, the thesis further describes the design and implementation of the software consisting of a website, database, MCU control script and display circuit control program. Finally, the system so designed and built is demonstrated and evaluated.
