Abstract:
According to attachment theory, different attachment styles relate to individuals' innate behaviors aimed at establishing proximity to or distancing oneself from attachment figures when confronted with threat. Unclear is whether these attachment-related threat responses also pertain to clinically depressed or anxious individuals. We therefore examined attachment-related patterns of accessibility of attachment figure representations under threat in 60 patients with anxiety and depressive symptoms (aged 16–58; primary diagnoses: an anxiety disorder, mood disorder, or personality disorder), applying an experimental Stroop procedure. Participants, randomly assigned to one of three priming conditions (neutral, attachment-unrelated threatening, attachment-related threatening prime), were exposed to a person's name preceded by a subliminal prime. Self-reported attachment styles, trait anxiety, and depressive symptoms were measured. Participants with higher scores on attachment avoidance showed reduced accessibility of persons in a neutral context and in response to attachment-unrelated threat, but not in response to attachment-related threat. These effects were independent of trait anxiety and depressive symptoms. Attachment anxiety was not associated with accessibility of persons. These results indicate that the mechanism of attachment-related responses to threat might not pertain to patients with anxiety and depressive symptoms, possibly due to collapse under their chronic strain.

Abstract:
Very few studies have addressed the gap in literature by examining the travel and activity patterns of travelers in developing countries to inform future land use and socio-economic planning. The major purpose of this paper is to determine the factors related with travel and activity space patterns of residents in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Based on lessons learned from a pilot study, a full study was undertaken using artificial neural network and regression. A network analyst-based shortest path network with road network buffer activity space calculation measure was used in geographic information system. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were used to identify attitudinal factor dimensions. Calculated individual activity spaces were found to range from 0.08 to 10.13 square miles. Trip characteristics were found to be significant predictors of individual activity space. In case of household activity space, D variables (density, design, and destination accessibility) and household characteristics were found as the most significant. Perceived neighborhood amenities, car attachment, monetary concerns, transit preferences, perceived daily travel area and environmental concern were found to shape people’s perception. Weekend activity spaces were more compact than those for weekdays. Individual day-to-day variability was less during weekdays than on the weekend. Female and high-income respondents had smaller activity spaces.

Abstract:
Secure-base behavior in adolescents was examined from the perspective of information processing. The secure-base behavior was operationally defined as accessibility to attachment-related information and assessed by reaction time to target stimuli. Study 1 was conducted on 37 undergraduates (10 classes as Secure, 12 men, M age=19.3 yr.) to investigate whether differences in attachment styles would show different forms of information processing. There was a difference in reaction time to negative targets between Secure and Insecure participants. Study 2 was conducted on 45 undergraduates (8 classed as Secure, 22 men, M age = 19.4 yr.) to investigate whether activation of the internal working models would show different forms of information processing. There was a difference between Secure and Insecure participants in patterns of reaction time to stimuli for positive and negative relationships. Results were discussed on the basis of secure-base behavior.

"A study of ultrasound/H2O2 combined surface modification on polyglycolic acid monofilaments for acupoint catgut embedding therapy application." Abstract:
Polyglycolic acid (PGA) monofilament has been regarded as an excellent acupoint catgut embedding therapy (ACET) material because it offers numerous advantages, including easy accessibility and good forming and degradable properties. However, the poor hydrophilicity and cytocompatibility are the main disadvantages preventing it from having wider applications. In this communication, two types of PGA monofilaments were first fabricated from their polymer chips, followed by ultrasound/H2O2 combined surface modification at 1:1 (V/V), and different ultrasound frequencies (45, 60 and 75 KHz) were explored. The modified PGA monofilaments were fully characterized with respect to structure characterizations (surface morphology, weights and diameters, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis and hydrophilicity), mechanical properties (tensile property, swelling behavior and flexibility) and in vitro properties (cytotoxicity, cell attachment and cell morphology). The results showed that the PGA monofilaments after modification would become coarser, with larger weights and diameters. Samples 1-PGA 75 and 2-PGA 75 exhibited the smallest contact angles at 70.51° ± 3.27° and 62.84° ± 2.53°, respectively. The FT-IR analysis results confirmed that some polar groups emerged, promoting the hydrophilicity of PGA monofilaments. The swelling behavior of monofilaments was enhanced, while tensile and bending stiffness values slightly decreased. All the prepared samples presented no toxicity, and the cell attachment ratio (cultured for 48 h) of PGA monofilaments had been greatly improved after modification. These findings present important clinical implications in the ACET materials manufacturing process and warrant further study to develop new PGA embedding materials with outstanding clinical efficacy.

Abstract:
The article proposes socio-psychological program for the development of anticipation of personality in terms of life changes, based on the principles of interconnection, continuous variability, dynamic equilibrium, irreversibility, relativity, self-organization, expansion, structuring, situational expediency, and differentiation in correctional development -, socio- and pathogenesis of the subjects. A significant increase in the level of personal-situational, spatial, general anticipatory ability in groups of young people and youth, increase in their internality of subjective control, general meaningfulness of life, focus on goals and effectiveness of life and the positive impact of these variables on prognostic competence and level of social maturity. According to the results of approbation and implementation of the program, the increase of attachment capacity is determined by its personal-situational and general components; dynamics of semantic systems at the content, structural, value, functional levels; constructive life strategies and internality, as well as the flexibility of coping behavior of the subjects in middle and late adulthood, which helped to increase their psychological well-being. The correctional and developmental work carried out within the program allowed to increase the level of anticipation ability in persons with manifestations of social maladaptation (according to the considered nosology), which ultimately affected the growth of achievement motivation, activity of life strategies; significant reduction of disintegration between value and accessibility in various spheres of life; multivariate forecasting and planning of events, in particular in the context of life changes, and to improve their social functioning in general. Key words: personality, mastery behavior, anticipation, social networks.

Abstract:
Purpose: This study generally aims to comprehensively examine the effect of mobile banking service quality on creating customer loyalty in Islamic banking. In particular, this research uses the E-S-Qual instrument to verify service quality in mobile banking and uses one mediation variable, namely e-customer satisfaction. Methodology: This study amounted to 273 Islamic banking customers. The total participants are divided into several categories such as; gender, occupation, domicile, and Islamic bank used. The data obtained were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach. This study also uses a second-order perspective (reflective-reflective) SEM on the E-S-Qual variable (efficiency, fulfillment, system availability, and privacy), then the approach used refers to the repeated indicators. Findings: The higher mobile banking service quality has implications for customer loyalty, both attitude and behavior. It happens when the customer is satisfied with the quality of the system displayed. This satisfaction can be achieved if the dimensions of quality that are characteristic of the system can be presented by Islamic banking. Originality: This study underscores the dimensions of efficiency and system availability as keys to mobile banking service quality. Efficiency refers to how the ease, accessibility, and speed provided by the system can facilitate transactions and other functions. Furthermore, system availability refers to how the platforms function properly in relation to technical constraints that may arise, as well as attachment to functions that strengthen processes in the business of Islamic banking customers.

Brown, Andrew P. "The Relationship Between Male Partner's Pornography Use and Couples' Attachment." BYU ScholarsArchive, 2011. https://scholarsarchive.byu.edu/etd/3082.

Full text
Abstract:
Adult attachment theory continues to play an important role in explaining pathology within couples. Pornography is becoming more and more pervasive since the inception of the internet. This study looked at the relationship between insecure attachment, accessibility, responsiveness, and engagement with frequency of male pornography use. Little is known about pornography use and its impact on couple dynamics. This study specifically looked at pornography use predicting insecure attachment within couples. The sample was taken from the RELATionship Evaluation (RELATE) and consisted of 189 couples. Male pornography use was found to be a predictor of insecure attachment and low levels of responsiveness in him. The female partner's assessment of her male partner's low engagement, responsiveness, and accessibility in their relationship was predicted by his pornography use. These findings may inform therapists of the possibilities for direction in therapy when a couple is struggling with insecure attachment development.

Abstract:
Most tire models need experimentally obtained data as input for simulation purposes. The study of tire mechanics requires the accuracy and repeatability of a controlled environment. However, the accessibility and cost of tire testing machines make it prohibitive for exploring tire mechanical properties for academic studies. Moreover, most industrial tire testing machines are designed for general tire testing, and would require an extensive amount of time and resources to adapt for academic research. To study tire mechanical behavior for modeling purposes, a tire mechanics test apparatus has been developed at the Center for Vehicle Systems and Safety (CVeSS), Virginia Tech. The tire mechanics test apparatus has been designed as an interchangeable attachment to an existing modular quarter car test rig developed at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) in Danville, Virginia, to save on cost, as well as to maintain repeatability of testing. The physical limitations of maximum tire vertical load for various tire testing machines are also among the main motivations for developing the tire mechanics test apparatus. The current configuration of the tire mechanics test apparatus provides the capability to study the vertical load - deflection characteristics of the tire, as well as the static footprint of the tire under various vertical loads. Future planned enhancements to the setup include the addition of a soil bin and an instrumented rolling drum for tire shear force studies.
