Abstract:
In the information age, takeaway has become an important way for people to consume food. College students’ online ordering of food takeaways has become an important part of life. It is of practical significance to understand the consumption characteristics and consumption values of college students by investigating their attitudes towards takeaway consumption through questionnaires. Objective: To design a “college students’ takeaway consumption attitude questionnaire”, which includes cognitive and emotional components. Methods: On the basis of literature research, the consumption attitude of college students to takeaway consumption was understood through semi-structured interviews, and the questionnaire items were designed according to the interview results; in the form of questionnaire survey, 246 “college students’ takeaway consumption attitude questionnaires” were distributed to test the internal consistency, exploratory factor analysis and validity of the questionnaire. Result: Internal consistency of the questionnaire α the coefficient is 0.885; the KMO value of the questionnaire is 0.852>0.8, χ²= 1754.637, with a significance level of 0.000, indicating that the college students’ takeaway attitude questionnaire is suitable for factor analysis, and factors with a characteristic root greater than1 (perceived value, subjective norms, satisfaction, trust) are extracted, with a cumulative variance of 64.674%, reaching an acceptable value. Conclusion: The college students’ takeaway consumption attitude questionnaire has good reliability and validity, and can be used as a tool for the study of college students’ consumption attitude towards takeaway”

Abstract:
A key challenge in the design of effective survey questionnaires is to write questions that respondents can understand consistently. Recommendations in the questionnaire design literature propose the use of respondents’ own terminology to facilitate comprehension and the response process. In this article, we propose an innovative questionnaire development method to construct items using respondents’ own terminology. On the basis of statistical analyses of answers to an open-ended question asked in a survey measuring attitudes to biodiversity, we first identified the words that respondents associate most frequently with the concept of biodiversity. We then designed new attitude measures composed of the words identified as being central to representations about biodiversity. These items were tested in another survey using a different sample. The results show that the attitude items designed on the basis of a social representation method satisfied validity and reliability quality criteria.

Abstract:
Polling by questionnaires is the most frequent, and sometimes the only research instrument used for both scientific and professional analyses of social trends. The polling questionnaire is often an indispensable measurement tool used to obtain input for various analyses, the majority of which have a statistical character. The quality of research based on polling using a questionnaire depends on a range of factors, one of the most significant being the relation of the respondent towards polling questionnaires. This relation is important, as the questionnaire is most often used as a means of investigating an individual's attitude or opinion regarding a given issue. The study of management features in tourism holds a significant place in social studies. The empirical study carried out explored the attitude of managers in Croatian tourism towards questionnaires, both from the viewpoint of frequency of receipt and completion, and from the viewpoint of evaluating the quality of the questionnaire. Although the study has shown that the majority of managers do not consider polling by questionnaire to be a very effective instrument of research, the frequency and accuracy of fulfilling questionnaires reveals nevertheless that it is widely accepted.

Abstract:
Although Western Medicine is considered as the mainstream medicine in China, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) still has its own advantages and characteristics. The attitudes and behaviors to TCM are divided, some West Medicine Doctors prefer TCM during treatment, while others consider it not effective. The objective of this study is to find out the attitudes and treatment behaviors of Chengdu physicians toward TCM, and identify factors associated with their attitude and behaviors. A representative sample of 2049 Chengdu physicians were recruited online to investigate their attitudes and behaviors toward TCM. During this research, previous Integrative Medicine Attitude Questionnaire were referred and modified, and adjusted questionnaire was made based on the actual situation of TCM in Chengdu. This questionnaire contains 3 distinct parts. The first part aimed at the attitudes of respondents toward TCM, and contains 15 questions in 3 sections, Holism, Knowledge, and Evidence. The second part tried to determine the behaviors toward TCM in terms of self-use, recommendations, as well as prescriptions. In addition, 6 modalities including Chinese Patent Medicine, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Acupuncture, Massage & Bone Setting, Qigong, and TCM diet were introduced in the behavioral part. In the third part, we aimed to collect personal, professional, and structural factors that may significantly influence TCM attitudes and behaviors. Physicians hold positive attitudes toward TCM in general, all the mean/highest possible subscales scores value of Holism (90.53%), Knowledge (63.77%), and Evidence (62.73%) domain were over 60%. On the other hand, physicians were more positive on self-use (49.40%) and recommendation (55.98%) of TCM than giving TCM prescriptions (36.60%) to patients. The attitudes and behaviors toward may not be consistent, which means physicians may not give prescriptions to patients even they have good attitudes to TCM. Education and self-use of TCM are important positive factors that influence the behaviors of physicians.

Abstract:
This study focuses on the cooperative attitude and intention of retail stores in Taiwan to cooperate with the government’s related pandemic prevention measures. The study is based on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). The study includes factors such as perceived risk of infection, job stress, pandemic prevention IT (information technology) convenience, pandemic prevention attitude, and pandemic prevention intention. Pandemic prevention attitude is used as a mediating variable to establish the research framework. This study collected research data through a questionnaire survey. A total of 457 valid questionnaires were collected through an electronic questionnaire platform. The findings showed that perceived risk of infection and pandemic prevention IT convenience had a positive and significant effect on pandemic prevention attitude (β = 0.567; β = 0.422) and pandemic prevention intention (β = 0.424; β = 0.296). Job stress has a significant negative effect on attitude (β = −0.173). In addition, job stress influenced intention through attitudes. Finally, perceived risk, job stress, and IT convenience had high explanatory power (R2 = 0.706) on attitudes. Perceived risk, IT convenience, and attitude also had moderate explanatory power (R2 = 0.588) on prevention intention. The study also suggests practical recommendations to improve and cooperate with pandemic prevention intention.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to determine the attitude of general dentists in the Republic of Croatia toward working with children. The questionnaire survey involved 361 general dentists. The questionnaire was divided into three parts and contained 34 questions. The first part of the questionnaire survey contained demographic data questions. In the second part, dentists answered questions about the characteristics of the dental offices where they work, the materials that they mostly use, and how they work with children. The third part of the questionnaire referred to attitudes about working and treating young children and consisted of 12 statements, to which the answers were offered on a Likert scale from one to five. This study showed that only 12.46% of dentists have a positive attitude toward treating children and 30.19% of dentists have a negative attitude toward treating children. In addition, the attitude toward working with children correlates with both the knowledge they acquired during dental studies (R = 0.355; p ≤ 0.001) and gender (R = −0.103; p = 0.035). This study confirmed that women have a more often positive attitude toward treating young children. There was a major correlation between the level of education and positive attitudes toward treating children. The child’s non-cooperative behavior was the main reason why general dentists refuse to work with children.

Abstract:
elf-administered questionnaires are a good way of conducting research and gathering information. With the advent of technology, the questionnaire can be more easily circulated and a lot more data can be collected with online surveys. However, a common limitation of the responses is that they may be incomplete, biased or not valid and meaningful. The present study was conducted to find the attitude of physiotherapy students when they fill out online research questionnaires. An observational study was conducted at SBB College of Physiotherapy. An online questionnaire was generated and validated by experts. It was sent to post-graduate students, interns, and final-year undergraduate students of various physiotherapy colleges to find the attitude toward responses to questionnaires using convenience and snowball sampling. 96.6% of participants had responded to a questionnaire before this study. 65.9% of participants had knowledge about the topic on which they were answering questions. 9.1% were not sure if they understood the questions prior to responding to a survey and 4.5% had not completely understood the questions which they had answered. 88.6% of the participants agreed that they completely read the questions before answering. 38.6% of participants search the internet or have searched on the internet prior to answering questionnaires. The study brings out the need to establish methods to improve the quality of responses obtained via an online questionnaire. Key words: Online questionnaires, data cleaning, careless responses

Abstract:
Introduction: What would a Swedish upper secondary student say if suddenly, meditation was introduced as an optional addition to his or her schedule. Would they be optimistic and see it as an opportunity for relaxation in their hectic day? Or would they be of the opinion that meditation is a religious practice and should not be allowed in a secular school? Perhaps they would think neither, instead holding a more neutral opinion? This was the central question for this questionnaire study. It was asked based on the reaction yoga received when it was introduced in a Swedish school, as some adults saw it as a religious practice. Later it was decided by the School Inspection that it was to be allowed, as attendance was completely voluntary.Method: The questionnaire in this study used four closed questions to get information on the attitude of upper secondary students towards meditation in schools, their interest in attending the hypothetic meditation and the most frequently used arguments for and against it. The questionnaire was modelled after Alan Brymans book Social research methods. After the questionnaire was finalized, it was sent out to mentors of third year students of several high schools in Västerbotten County. The goal was to get 100 responses from upper secondary school students, in the end 78 responses were obtained. The results of the questionnaire were presented in circle and bar graphs. Results: The gathered information showed that a majority of the surveyed upper secondary students had a positive attitude towards meditation in their schools. Among the most frequently used arguments pro and against the meditation, the most frequent argument for the inclusion of meditation was that it would be an opportunity for relaxation. Of the arguments against the inclusion of meditation the most frequent was that it would take up unnecessary space in their schedule. Conclusion: Through the information gathered with the questionnaire we can see a theme of positive attitude from the students. A clear majority of them are either interested in trying meditation, sees it as a useful tool, or simply has a positive view of it while perhaps being less interested of trying it themselves.

The diploma thesis deals with the motivation factors of a rightful tax return. The aim of the thesis was to identify influence of attitude, subjective norms and behavioural control on a truthfulness of a taxpayer when filling in the tax return. The first part of the thesis is aimed on definition of a tax evasion. Furthermore, this part deals with the causes of tax evasions as well as with ethical point of view on tax evasions in general. The second part of the thesis deals with the indicators of extent and evolution of tax evasions in the Czech Republic and in the European Union. The indicators of tax evasions are the following: shadow economy, tax gap of VAT, tax quota, corruption index and frequency of tax control. The third part includes the results of the questionnaire survey that was realised among the Czech entrepreneurs. The results show the cases of tax evasions that the entrepreneurs may have consider as rightful. Thereafter, using the chi-squared test, the analysis examined whether the attitude of the entrepreneurs towards the tax evasions is influenced by the factors as company seat, annual turnover or number of employees. In several cases, the research confirmed an existence of dependence between attitude of entrepreneurs towards tax evasions and the factors stated above.

Abstract:
Thesis (MA)--University of Stellenbosch, 2004.<br>ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This study investigates the internal structure that underlies the ODQ. A structural model that explicates the nature of the causal linkages between the six main constructs comprising the ODQ was developed and tested. Data obtained from 273 employees in a chrome manufacturing plant was used. This research found that the proposed model offers a plausible account of the influences that exist between the six main constructs. The benefit of this structural model will be in the enhanced interpretation of the diagnostic results derived from the ODQ.<br>AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Hierdie studie stel ondersoek in na die interne struktuur wat onderliggend is aan die Organisasie Diagnostiese Vraelys (ODV).

Abstract:
<p>For a long period of time there has been an extensive documentation of how things are presumed not to be at our workplace. However there is little knowledge on how it is supposed to be, what makes us feel good and what makes us retain our well-being. The aim of this study was to survey the attitudes towards factors of well-being at the workplace among personnel at four institutions at Kristianstad University. The work method used in this study is quantitative and a questionnaire survey was carried out to produce an overall picture. The majority considered praise from manager and the opportunity of development discussions of great importance. During the development discussion the majority considered feedback on work achievements the topic of most importance to discuss. Stress management was found to be the pre-eminent benefit to be offered from the employer. Women had a more positive attitude towards factors that promote health in the relationship between the co-workers. In general women also had a more positive attitude towards factors that promote health in the assignment. The result of our study raises attitudes towards health promoting factors, and could indicate the direction for pursued health promoting work in the workplace. To enable an organization, and its employees, to develop and grow according to their attitudes, they will need opportunities to reflect and learn. </p>

Abstract:
As escalas de avaliação de clima/ cultura de segurança do paciente parecem medir fenômenos semelhantes.<br>Introduction: Patient safety has become a formal concern in several health systems in the world, in the last decades. In 2004 the World Health Organization (WHO) proposes the Alliance for patient safety and aims safety culture evaluation in healthcare institutions as one of the key aspects to this process. Method: Cross-sectional quantitative research approach, performed in a teaching hospital in São Paulo State between the months of March and April 2014. The study population was composed of all the professional who were part of the work schedule of intensive care unit (ICU) adult, pediatric and neonatal and did not fit the exclusion criteria (less than six months in the unit). Two instruments for assessing the culture environment and patient safety, the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety (HSOPSC) the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire (SAQ), and an instrument for survey of demographic and professional information were applied. For data analysis, the test of reliability of the scales by Cronbachs alpha was used. The presence of associations of scales with study variables was checked by Pearsons chi-square test or Fishers exact test in the qualitative variables, the ANOVA for quantitative variables. The presence of correlation between the SAQ and the HPSOPSC instruments was tested by Pearson correlation test. Result: sociodemographic data regarding gender and age and position were homogenous in the three ICUs. Professional of the Neonatal ICU had worked longer time in this unit and specialty when compared to other units. Both scales showed good reliability by Cronbachs alpha, 0.853 for SAQ and 0.889 for HSPOSC. In the analysis of the SAQ domains, it was observed score 62 for Working Conditions and Perceptions of Management, while for HSPOSC dimension Non-punitive Response to Error had the lowest percentage of positive responses (29.6%), the dimension Open Communication and Return of Communication and Information on the Error a proportion of neutral responses more than 30%. The total score of patient safety by HSPOSC was 85% (summed up great and very good). Analyzing the behavior of ICUs through each scale, Neonatal ICU had higher job satisfaction than the other ICUs. Adult ICU had lower scores in each domain compared to other domains and for HSPOSC only the area Open Communication obtained the proportion of positive responses slightly superior to the other ICUs. The correlation between the scales through Pearson correlation was of moderate strength (Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.656). The open responses showed that changes in hospital as a result of accreditation processes, contributed to a better perception of professionals about patient safety. Conclusions: There are differences in perceptions of patient safety among ICUs within the same hospital, which corroborates the existence of local microcultures. Rating scales of climate/culture of patient safety seems to measure similar phenomena.

Abstract:
AbstractThe research described in this paper was aimed at identifying exemplary assessment practices in secondary science classes. In the first stage, following a review of the literature, a six-scale instrument of 48 items was trialed with a sample of 470 students from grades eight, nine and ten in 20 science classrooms in three Western Australian schools. Based on internal consistency reliability data and exploratory factor analysis, refinement decisions resulted in a five-scale instrument that was named the Student Perceptions of Assessment Questionnaire (SPAQ). In the second stage, the SPAQ was used with an attitude scale, and a self-efficacy scale. This survey was administered to a larger sample of 960 students from 40 science classes from the same grades as in the first stage. Statistical analyses confirmed the validity and reliability of the SPAQ. Based on the results of this survey exemplary teachers were identified. In the third and last stage interviews with teachers and students were conducted. Classes of these exemplary teachers were also observed. These exemplary teachers were found to be thorough in their teaching, giving students enough time to prepare for the assessment, giving students freedom to choose from a variety of assessments and were flexible in teaching and assessment. They also demonstrated in-depth understanding of the science topics they were teaching.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper describes the maturity of tertiary education institutions (HEIs) in integrating practice-based e-learning with disruptive technologies (DT). It identifies gaps that hinder the transition to DT facilitated practice-based elearning. Within the scope of the project e-DIPLOMA, a self-evaluation questionnaire was developed and an online survey was carried out in the project partner countries. Collected dataset incorporated responses from 87 technical and didactic support personnel, 327 educators and 433 students from 92 tertiary education institutions. To describe the current state of maturity of HEIs to facilitate practical elearning with DT, mean values of the key components were calculated. A t-test was used to identify statistically significant differences in responses between groups of respondents. The use of DT in practice based elearning is hindered by the lack of sufficient infrastructure in HEIs, with further constraints arising from limited lecturer involvement in training, communities of practice, and in external collaborations. The findings reveal that educators have limited experience with teaching using DT. A rather positive attitude from all participant groups towards the positive impact of engaging DT both learning and sustainability perspectives..

Abstract:
This study sought to investigate the relationship between climate change information sources, fact-checking, and attitude among students at Adeleke University. A descriptive survey design was adopted for the study using a questionnaire. The data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The majority of the 688 survey respondents had an unworried attitude about climate change. Students were discovered to obtain climate change information through Google, television, friends, family, Facebook, radio, YouTube, and Instagram. Students were discovered to often fact-check climate change information. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, radio, church/mosque, friends, religious leaders, and fact-checking have a significant relationship with climate change attitudes. The study concluded that using social media and religious aspects as a source of climate change information may associate to an unworried attitude about climate change. As a result, it suggests addressing religious concerns about climate change.

Abstract:
This study explores the interconnection between health, nutrition, and the emotional bond in the human-dog relationship. Using a multiple-choice questionnaire, the research examines health issues, dietary choices, food rewards, and emotional ties among dog owners, with a focus on individuals aged 31-45 from diverse backgrounds. The main objective is to understand how health, nutrition, and emotional bonds are linked between dogs and their owners. The survey covers topics such as health observations, veterinary care, food rewards, and owners' nutritional knowledge. Results reveal frequent health issues in dogs, particularly obesity, highlighting the importance of addressing these conditions. In contrast, owners reported fewer health problems related to diet. Regular veterinary visits were common, indicating responsible pet care. The use of commercial dog treats as rewards was widespread, with many owners believing it strengthens their bond with their pets. While owners showed moderate nutritional awareness, there is potential for targeted education to improve practices. Many respondents were willing to adjust their dogs diets for health reasons, showing a proactive attitude towards canine well-being and an openness to expert dietary advice. The study underscores the need for holistic approaches that integrate health, nutrition, and emotional connections, with opportunities for interventions to enhance both human and canine health. Further research is recommended to validate these findings

Abstract:
Although sustainable change is urgently needed, more environmentally friendly alternatives are often rejected when it comes to handling and selecting products. This also applies to people with a sustainable attitude. Accordingly, the question arises as to whether and under what circumstances a sustainable attitude actually leads to sustainable product-related behavior. This basic problem is addressed here using the example of light switches made of PCR plastics, with a particular focus on the relationship between ecological sustainability attitudes and purchase intention and willingness to pay. The experimental study was conducted in a single-factorial between-person study design with n=87 test subjects. A light switch made of PCR plastic attached to a pillar served as the stimulus material. In the survey, sustainability attitudes, purchase intention and willingness to pay in particular were recorded using a questionnaire. The results of the survey revealed only a weak correlation between the attitude towards sustainability and the purchase intention, but no correlation between the attitude towards sustainability and the willingness to pay. These results indicate that the target group-specific use of PCR plastic for groups with a sustainable attitude to household appliances only makes limited sense.

Abstract:
The goal of the study that was conducted in the High School of Economics and Trade in Zaječar was to establish whether and to what extent teacher training courses on work in a digital environment contribute to a change in a teacher’s attitude to the digitalization of education. Two online surveys (the Google questionnaire) were conducted, with 68 teachers participating. The first survey was conducted at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic and the second one 6 months later. The study began with the hypothesis that a rather strong resistance to digitalization exhibited in the first survey would, after a series of training courses, grow weaker in intensity as more and more advantages are listed. The results of both surveys showed an equally negative attitude to digitalization, with the reasons of resistance being different – in the first survey, they include inexperience in work with digital tools, and in the second one they include the impossibility of making an objective evaluation of students’ achievements and increased workload. The conclusion is that in the digital model of education teachers recognize inherent weaknesses, for which reason it is viewed solely as an addition to the traditional form of teaching.

In Transforming Knowledge: A Multi-disciplinary Research on Integrative Learning Across Disciplines. BSSS Publication, 2025. https://doi.org/10.51767/ic250509.

Abstract:
Public transportation plays a crucial role in sustainable urban mobility, yet its usage varies significantly among individuals. This study explores the correlation between individuals' attitudes toward public transportation and their usage rates, aiming to determine whether a positive perception influences increased usage. A quantitative, cross-sectional survey design was employed, with data collected from 156 respondents using a structured questionnaire. The study applied Pearson’s correlation and linear regression analysis to examine the relationship between attitudes and public transport usage. The results indicate a strong positive correlation (r = 0.89, p &lt; 0.001) between attitude and usage rates, with regression analysis showing that attitude significantly predicts public transport usage (β1=1.53, p&lt;0.001\beta_1 = 1.53, p &lt; 0.001). The model's R² value of 0.795 suggests that attitude explains 79.5% of the variance in transport usage. The study instrument demonstrated high reliability (Cronbach’s α = 0.98) and construct validity (0.76). These findings highlight the importance of public perception in increasing ridership, suggesting that policies aimed at improving attitudes toward public transport—such as better service quality, reduced congestion, and environmental awareness campaigns—could effectively boost usage rates. Future research should explore additional factors, such as pricing, accessibility, and personal convenience, to gain a more comprehensive understanding of public transportation behavior.

Abstract:
Abstract Introduction The global threat caused by COVID-19 pandemic and the unprecedented lockdown imposed had created emotional stress among the breast cancer patients with dilemma regarding risk of progression of cancer due to interruptions of standard medical care and panic about acquiring the COVID-infection during their frequent visits to the hospital. Objectives We conducted a questionnaire-based study to assess the psychological impact in this situation affecting their quality of life and their perspective in this current situation. Materials and Methods Breast cancer patients who had been recently diagnosed, those who were on chemotherapy and visited our OPD in the month of July during the COVID-19 pandemic were assessed for their treatment-related perspectives with a questionnaire. Psychological status was analyzed with GAD-7 (generalized anxiety disorder questionnaire) and PHQ-9 (patient health questionnaire). Results A total of 202 breast cancer patients were included when lockdown was relaxed after a period of 3 months and COVID-19 status was still up trending. The clinical profile and patient-related information were collected from the medical records. Of them, 55.4% (112 patients) were within the city, 35.1% (71 patients) were from suburban areas of the city, and 9.4% (19 patients) were from adjacent districts/rural areas. Also, 56% were educated. Of these, 87% wanted to continue treatment and did not bother about the spread of the infection, while remaining patients’ main concern was to avoid infection than to get oncological management. Also, 76% were aware about the COVID-19 infection and sequelae. A total of 80% patients were aware of the consequences due to delay in cancer treatment. Of these patients, 51%, 42% and 7% had mild, moderate, and severe anxiety respectively and 69%, 25% and 6% had mild, moderate, and severe depression respectively. The severe anxiety and depression correlated with metastatic breast cancer and educated patients. Conclusion This study reflected that the breast cancer patients were more bothered to continue the treatment in spite of the existing pandemic.

Abstract:
The purpose of the study is to develop the methodical recommendations for test-designers to cope with challenges of organizing on-line assessment process. In order to achieve this goal we have to reveal the strengths and weaknesses of e-assessment activities based on analysis of the universities practice. To find out students’ attitude to the issue of the study we have drawn up the questionnaire. The survey results confirm that e-assessment is rated as priority activity by learners thanks to individual approach to teaching/learning process, easily accessible and fast feedback, as well as interactive methods of implementation. Reviewing practical experience of Kryvyi Rih National University (KNU) and Donetsk Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (DLI) and summarizing statistical data of the survey we have developed methodical support for designing e-assessment activities which involves: to determine intended recipients and the purpose of testing; select appropriate instruments and e-platform; specify forms of feedback; clarify the tasks; provide knowledge base for operating e-tests etc. Despite plenty of studies in this domain the test-designers and test-takers face to typical difficulties while operating e-assessment, and there is lack of research providing methodical practicalities in this field. To address learners’ and lecturers’ needs we have developed the methodical recommendations, which might be used in the drafting of e-assessment tests for students of different specialisms.

Abstract:
This paper presents the development and execution of a specialised university training program designed to support Peer Support Advisors (PSAs) within The Living Room: a low-barrier peer-led mental health service. The primary objective was to investigate the training program's impact on the knowledge and attitudes of PSAs. Two questionnaires were administered: a pre-training questionnaire to establish participants' initial attitudes and knowledge levels, and a post-training questionnaire to assess any changes following completion of the program. Additionally, a feedback questionnaire was used to gather qualitative insights on the training experience. The integration of qualitative narrative accounts with quantitative data facilitated a thorough understanding of the program's effects. The results revealed a consistent enhancement in confidence and understanding among PSAs post-training, indicating significant improvements in their knowledge and attitudes relevant to their roles. The study highlights the effectiveness of this training approach in bolstering PSA skills and capabilities. The Living Room's PSA training program exemplifies the positive impact of such initiatives on students' ability to provide effective peer support. Key insights include the importance of inclusivity, awareness of available services, and practical application of acquired skills in diverse student contexts. The utilisation of pre/post assessments and feedback surveys offers a robust framework for evaluating training efficacy and overall participant satisfaction. These findings emphasise the value of investing in comprehensive training programs to empower peers and cultivate a supportive university community.

Abstract:
Cambodia, following more than two decades of impressive economic performance and development, is fast becoming one of Asia’s new tiger economies. Sustained robust GDP growth of over 7 percent has supported improvements in physical infrastructure (economic and social) and substantial poverty reduction. This economic improvement, mostly made possible by rapid manufacturing (garment industry), construction and tourism growth, is paving the way for rapid urbanisation. The pace of urbanisation combined with demographic change, improved access to education, and widespread internet use is playing a significant role in shaping and changing perceptions, thoughts and behaviours, especially among women. This report attempts to observe these changes through a gendered analysis of a nationally representative survey, conducted by CDRI from October 2017 to January 2018, of 1,600 Cambodian citizens (aged 16 to 65 years) in 101 (72 rural, 29 urban) villages in five provinces and Phnom Penh (Eng et al. 2019). The survey questionnaire comprised 101 questions covering six sections: demographics, identity and values, trust and respect, outlook, political participation, and media. This report uses the survey responses as its sole primary data and classifies them into four main themes: family, attitudes towards community, political knowledge and attitudes, and future expectations. Each theme is divided into subthemes for detailed analysis, as follows: Family:generational gap, decision making in the family, decision making about marriage. Attitudes towards community: trust and caring about country, community participation. Political knowledge and attitudes: gender perspectives on leadership and social and political participation, concern about social issues and services. Future expectations: the country’s future direction, individuals’ future prospects. The following techniques and methods were used to analyse the data: Women were not treated as a homogeneous group, but as equipped with seven different attributes: age, place of residence, level of education, marital status, type of employment, employment status, mobility and internet use. The aim was to observe whether or not women with different attributes have different perceptions towards certain issues. For place of residence, the survey question was open, but for this report, responses were categorised into Phnom Penh residents and non-Phnom Penh residents. For level of education, the survey categories were 1) never attended school, 2) primary school, 3) secondary school, 4) high school, 5) vocational training, 6) university (tertiary education), 7) other, 8) no response. This nominal data was changed into basic education or lower, and higher than basic education.1 For marital status, the survey categories were 1) single (never been married), 2) married, 3) widow, 4) separated/divorced, 5) no response. These were converted into single and non-single. For type of employment, the survey categories were 1) self-employed (own business), 2) homemaker/family caretaker, 3) working in family business/farm, 4) paid government employee, 5) paid employee for non-profit organisation, 6) paid employee for a private business/for profit, 7) unemployed, 8) student, 9) no response. The report converted these into paid and non-paid employment. For mobility, the survey focused on migration, which was converted into mobility. SPSS was used for descriptive analysis and crosstab was applied to generate comparative data on the seven selected attributes across the four themes selected for the study. Independent Sample T-Test was applied to compare the mean scores of two independent groups on each variable, data allowing. Crosstabulation generated 567 tables, analysis of which was beyond the scope of this report. The following criteria were therefore used to reduce the number of tables: Relevance of the survey questions to the four themes selected for the study. Percentage differences between the responses against each attribute. Data allowing, differences were ascertained with statistical testing; otherwise, a 10 percent difference was used as the threshold. Frequency with which the same or similar questions are raised, discussed and prioritised by government, scholars, research surveys and studies.

Abstract:
Numerous studies have emerged so far on Covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2) across different disciplines. There is virtually no facet of human experience and relationships that have not been studied. In Nigeria, these studies include knowledge and attitude, risk perception, public perception of Covid-19 management, e-learning, palliatives, precautionary behaviours etc.,, Studies have also been carried out on public framing of Covid-19 discourses in Nigeria; these have explored both offline and online messaging and issues from the perspectives of citizens towards government’s policy responses such as palliative distributions, social distancing and lockdown. The investigators of these thematic concerns deployed different methodological tools in their studies. These tools include policy evaluations, content analysis, sentiment analysis, discourse analysis, survey questionnaires, focus group discussions, in depth-interviews as well as machine learning., These studies nearly always focus on the national government policy response, with little or no focus on the constituent states. In many of the studies, the researchers work with newspaper articles for analysis of public opinions while others use social media generated contents such as tweets) as sources for analysis of sentiments and opinions. Although there are others who rely on the use of survey questionnaires and other tools outlined above; the limitations of these approaches necessitated the research plan adopted by this study. Most of the social media users in Nigeria are domiciled in cities and their demography comprises the middle class (socio-economic) who are more likely to be literate with access to internet technologies. Hence, the opinions of a majority of the population who are most likely rural dwellers with limited access to internet technologies are very often excluded. This is not in any way to disparage social media content analysis findings; because the opinions expressed by opinion leaders usually represent the larger subset of opinions prevalent in the society. Analysing public perception using questionnaires is also fraught with its challenges, as well as reliance on newspaper articles. A lot of the newspapers and news media organisations in Nigeria are politically hinged; some of them have active politicians and their associates as their proprietors. Getting unbiased opinions from these sources might be difficult. The news articles are also most likely to reflect and amplify official positions through press releases and interviews which usually privilege elite actors. These gaps motivated this collaboration between Ekiti State Government and the African Leadership Centre at King’s College London to embark on research that will primarily assess public perceptions of government leadership response to Covid-19 in Ekiti State. The timeframe of the study covers the first phase of the pandemic in Ekiti State (March/April to August 2020).

Hebbar, Anish, Jens-Uwe Schröder-Hinrichs, Serdar Yildiz, and Nadhir Kahlouche. Safety of domestic ferries: a scoping study of seven high-risk countries. World Maritime University, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.21677/rep0123.

Abstract:
Ferry accidents are fairly common globally, causing countless deaths and injuries. Whereas ferry transportation is an integral part of the domestic transport infrastructure in many countries, particularly archipelagic countries such as Indonesia and the Philippines, river deltaic countries like Bangladesh, countries with extensive riverine systems such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria and Senegal, or even a combination of great lakes, rivers and archipelago such as Tanzania, these countries are experiencing a high number of ferry accidents and fatalities over the past two decades and, therefore, considered high-risk countries in the ferry transport sector. International community continuously seeks to enhance safety in the domestic ferry industry. Thus, a scoping study has been conducted on the safety of domestic ferries in these seven high-risk countries. The study utilizes a structured methodology to identify focus areas in the seven countries for enhancing safety in the domestic ferry sector. The analysis involves past domestic ferry accidents, maritime profile, industry demographics and stakeholder matrix, regulatory and governance climate, political landscape, and amenability to change and external intervention. Eventually, the study proposes a conceptual framework with fifteen distinct criteria, identified against five attributes as an aid to the decision-making in a country for considering a safety intervention with a high likelihood of success and a significant positive impact on safety in the domestic ferry sector. Furthermore, current hazards threatening the safety of domestic ferries and their role in the formation of accidents; key stakeholders of domestic ferry sector and their state of play; national regulations related to the safety of domestic ferries and alignment with the IMO model regulations; national political landscape; state’s willingness to facilitate and receive a safety intervention; and public attitude towards safety are presented in the respective countries using globally recognized indices, questionnaire surveys and personal interviews.
