Abstract:

<i>Hypocenomyce anthracophila</i> belongs to very rare lichens in Poland. It was so far known onry from one historical site. Recently (1982-1987) a number of further sites with this lichen have been found in north eastern Poland, and in West Pomerania (Pomorze) (Fig. 1). It mainly grows on pines, exceptionally on birches and dead wood, in well preserved pine forests of large forest complexes (Białowieża Primeval Forest, Augustów forest complex, Zielona Puszcza, Kurpiowska Puszcza and Piska Puszcza forest complexes).

Abstract:

In April 2019, 25.4 ha of woodland in the Płaska Forest District in the SE part of the Augustów Forest were damaged by fire. Between 2020-2022 a survey of beetles in the burnt and unburnt (control) parts of the forest was carried out. The insects were collected in IBL-2bis window (= flight interception) traps. 781 species classified in 67 families were identified. Among these species, Acrotrichis strandi (Ptiliidae) was found in Poland for the first time, and 41 species were new records for the Masurian Lake District. The study on the distribution and abundance of beaver families in the Augustowska Primeval Forest was conducted in the years 2000 -2003. It embraced all seven Forest Inspectorates administering the Forest. The study consisted in the penetration of banks along watercourses, lakes and drainage ditches.
