GRAVE, SAMMY DE, and PETER K. L. NG. "The curious case of “innies”: Articles 50.1, 50.1.1 and the citation of authorities in Decapoda Crustacea—a way forward." Zootaxa 4963, no. 1 (April 16, 2021): 163–72. http://dx.doi.org/10.11646/zootaxa.4963.1.8.

Abstract:
In the majority of species and genus names in Decapoda Crustacea, the author(s) of the name equate with the author(s) of the work. In a relatively small number of cases, however, the author(s) of the name are either a subset of the authors of the work or are not an author on the work—a phenomenon herein termed “innies”. We demonstrate that these two categories should be differentially interpreted according to Articles 50.1 and 50.1.1 of the ICZN Code. To promote stability in cited authorship of historical names, it is proposed that 1) if the author(s) of the name are also an author on the work, these should be universally accepted as “innies”, irrespective of any further explanation in the text (including a mere attribution following the taxon name); and 2) that if the author(s) of the name are not an author(s) of the work, these should only be considered as “innies” if a more expansive explanation is given in the text, not merely an attribution of authorship to the taxon name.

Abstract:
The author's experience with musicological research of contemporary music developed his critical attitude towards musicology in general, especially towards the one that considers music only as text and limits the approaches to musical works on philological methodology. Both Schering's Experimentelle Musikgeschichte (1913) and Kerman's requests for musicology as fusion of scholarly musicological work and sense for music as art (1985) attempt to get rid of this »philological burden«. A further problem, however, is the equality of all kinds of music, requested by the New musicology and the impossibility to develop appropriate analytical tools for each of them. Harrison's suggestion of ethnomusicological (i.e. sociological) approach is not sufficiently convincing, because – as proven by the quotation from Treitler – the contextual (i.e. social) meaning of any musical work is not so easily to decipher. The author pleads for consciously critical approach to musicological research which permits even contrary readings of the same text, and points out that this is the way in which he persuades his students to cope with the lacunae of their subjects of interest.

Abstract:
In the article «Genre dominants of Belorussian documentary: A. Adamovich’s and S. Alexievich’s experience» the author analyzes the concept of «documentary», «document» and «fact» in different scholars. The research deals with the process of formation of Belorussian national artistic-documentary proseon the basis of the works of Belorussian authors A. Adamovich «The Blockade book» (co-authored with D. Granin), «Out of the Fire» (co-authored with J. Bryl’ and V. Kolesnyk) and S. Alexievich «The Unwomanly Face of War…». The author reveals historical and ideological connections between these books, in which human voices are composed into a single complete whole, possessing a certain set of genre properties that manifest themselves both at the content and form levels. The focus is on distinguishing innovative features of the genre compared to «classic» documentary of the first half of the 19th century. The researcher views main peculiarities of the narrative, the author’s position while presenting eyewitness accounts, which may bе either objective or subjective. Composition, topic of the work and author’s foundation of the chosen structure are described. In the article there isthe investigation of the history of documentary genre, the reasons for its transformation and the specifics of modern «choir of voices» interpretation. The author of the article also refers to the ambiguous reception of S. Alexievich work by modern Ukrainian writers J. Andruhovich, J. Vynnychuk and O. Zabuzhko.

Abstract:
Highly biographical Modernist author profiles on Facebook seem to adopt or encourage a purely biographical, Genius Cult-esque understanding of the relationship between an author and that author's work. This is initially problematic, as authorial intent is a particularly complex issue of consideration for many of the authors currently haunting Facebook. This article thus establishes the paradoxical view on author-ity of three such authors -- T. S. Eliot, Marianne Moore, and James Joyce -- and examines how such Facebook profiles undermine and simplify the arguments made by these authors both through their critical and creative works. It then suggests that, by mere nature of being present on Facebook, these profiles may indeed engage in teasing out the very same paradox that these Modernists proposed in the first place, using Derrida's Hauntology to examine Facebook as a textual space both of biography and self-prosthesis. The argument ultimately seeks to propose that all Facebook users are indeed just such spectres haunting digital spaces.

Abstract:
The article deals with the system of views of the famous researcher of German and Slavs literature L. Rudnitsky. The author conducts studies with a focus on neo-views of authoritative international scholars in the context of comparative literature, with an examination of monographic studies of Rudnitsky on Ivan Franko’s work – the famous Ukrainian critic, ethnographer, literary critic, man of letters. L. Rudnitsky’s focus is on Franko as on the translator and popularizer of the works of German and Western literature, in particular, Lessing, Schiller, Goethe, etc. The author pays special attention to the contact- genetic and comparative-typological relations with the German language and literature. The contextual links of language and literature with the art of that time, which is considered in the context of the world cultural space are also described. In Rudnitsky’s monographs Ivan Franko and the German-speaking world: the importance of the environment for the poet’s creativity and the German language and literature in the works of Ivan Franko, the concept of the research space of the French translator at that time is observed. In confirmation of the importance of Rudnitsky’s work, the author uses the views of diaspora literary critics, such as I. Denisyuk, I. Kachurovsky, etc., who noted the work as a significant contribution and breakthrough in the study of the work of the outstanding Ukrainian artist I. Franko in the context of his translation activities. Through citational intertextuality, the author proves the contribution of Rudnitsky in the analysis of the works of Franco in a new generally-European perspective. The author emphasizes the deep meaningfulness of L. Rudnitsky’s translations conducted by I. Franko from the oldest German written notes, emphasizes the skill of the Camener in the transfer of the features of the old German language. We also see a comparative aspect in literary studies, which is dominant in our approach to the study of Franco’s translation activity. Valuable in research observations of L. Rudnitsky about Franco as a translator and popularizer of the works of German literature is his desire to expand the “German-speaking world”, which is confirmed by our in-depth analysis of the works of Rudnitsky and authoritative reviews on them. It is proved that for many years there was created an original concept of the study of German literature through the works of L. Rudnitsky – American talented literary critic of Ukrainian origin.

Abstract:
Although J. S. Mill′s essay On Liberty was intended by its author to be read as a self-contained work,1 and even though a careful reading would justify seeing it in this way, it has far too often been denied this right even by its defenders. There is a crucial distinction to be made between eliciting some point of substance from a particular work by an author and then turning to the rest of his work to throw further light on it, and employing other texts from the corpus of his writings to put the construction on certain things said in it which the work by itself cannot sustain, thus treating the former as essentially a fragment, albeit a most important fragment, of a whole.2 I would suggest that recourse to the latter course is justified only when the possibilities of treating it autarchically have already been explored. In this paper I propose to treat a celebrated text in the former way only because I believe that the results will show such an approach to be uniquely worthwhile, or at least fruitful enough to justify a paper conceived in this way. And, with a view to putting what I want to say about it in maximum focus I shall with one or two exceptions eschew giving supporting evidence from Mill′s other writings, even when this is permitted by the distinction I have made in this opening paragraph.

Abstract:
Résumé It is eight years ago when a new system of curriculum documents was approved and when teachers were given opportunity of their own choice in lesson planning and lesson management. Unfortunately, this change in approach to education cannot be seen in all teachers. In lessons, there is still a method of work with texts when a teacher requires only one particular respond to his question "What did the author want to express in the text?" and it is the respond he personally thinks is correct. In that case pupils are not motivated suitably to think about the text and to discuss it. They are impoverished in more intensive experiences from the text and they also miss follow-up activities which might encourage their interest in the work, the author and reading generally. Due to these reasons projects presented in this thesis aroused. This work offers to teachers from basic schools in Liberec area ready-made projects which relate thematically to Liberec region because authors of the texts act in this region. All the projects contain methodology instructions, which means a summarizing table (time requirement of activities, aids, methods), a step-by-step procedure instruction, texts to be worked with and also ready- made worksheets. Authors and texts are chosen in a way that pupils can be introduced to a variety...

Abstract:
A b s t r a c t: CLIL is an innovative approach how to improve foreign language teaching. Thanks to the globalization, language education became one of the main priorities in most of the states, European countries, especially. However, foreign language education has been intensively discussed over the past two decades, there are still some important questions to answer. What is the best time to start with foreign language teaching? Which methods shall we use? When shall we start with the intensive foreign language teaching? Third grade, second grade or even earlier? I suggest CLIL and, particularly, language showers, could be a suitable solution how to prepare children for the future foreign language teaching. The main goal of my thesis is to find what kind of CLIL activities are suitable for the second grade where I actually teach. More specifically, I will carry out action research which will be based on videorecordings of three CLIL lessons. I will also try to analyse my linguistic and didactic mistakes. The analysis should help me to find solutions which will improve my CLIL teaching. Within the thesis, I will also try to diagnosticate my own pedagogical type which will help me to recognize the characteristics which will play important role during the reflective process of my CLIL teaching.

Abstract:
The paper is devoted to the problem of imitation of maps in the late Renaissance Polish poetry (between 1580 and 1630). The author first discusses the special interest in cartography that existed among the Polish elite and poets of the period. The main thesis of the paper is that poets widely used map-based techniques in constructing their poems. Imitation (imitatio) played a crucial role in this process. To illustrate this concept, the author analyses the work of five poets: S.F. Klonowic, K. Miaskowski, S. Petrycy, M.K. Sarbiewski and Sz. Szymonowic. Looking at the shared topoi used in poems and maps and investigating how the late Renaissance poets described the territory of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, allows the author to draw a similarity between controlling space in poetry and maps. This suggests the idea of ruling over space might be related to the 16th-century idea of a God-like poet.

Abstract:
AbstractThis chapter explores what it means to study a bureaucracy at work. It outlines my methodological approach for analysing everyday practices in the SEM, the challenges I encountered during fieldwork as well as the methodological limits of this study. Building on Reckwitz’s (European Journal of Social Theory 5: 243–263, 2002) definition of practice, I argue that methodological triangulation and particularly participant observation—mostly in the form of following administrative caseworkers around in their daily work—are crucial for analysing both the discursive and non-discursive aspects of practices. Yet, at the same time, following Hitchings (Area 44: 61–67, 2012), I challenge the claim made by some authors that discursive methods are methodologically unfitting for researching practices from a practice theoretical perspective. Rather, I argue that people’s retrospective descriptions of past events, their explicit knowledge of rules and norms and particularly their capacity to reflect on why they do what they do provide us with valuable insights into everyday practice.

Abstract:
This chapter analyses how the law evaluates authorship of copyright works. It is crucial to distinguish between authorship and ownership of copyright works, as the two do not necessarily coincide. The reason for this is that an author may decide to license or assign the ownership of the work to a third party, such as a publisher, in exchange for money, i.e. royalties. In such case, the author would still be classed as the author of the work, but would no longer own the economic rights to control the ‘restricted acts’. Authorship and ownership of copyright works is even more complicated in the case of works that are authored and owned jointly. The definition of a work of joint authorship is very precise — it must not be possible to identify each author's respective contribution. The rights of joint-owners are set out in s. 173(2) CDPA.

Abstract:
This chapter explores the power of Jewish writers to use mothers in their work in order to subvert culture. It offers an analysis of bestselling children's author Maurice Sendak's images of Jewish mothers that are destabilizing because of their complexity. It also reviews the work Sendak, which constructs Jewish mothers who dwell outside the typically Jewish legal constructions of motherhood and the gendered institutional confines of American Jewish life. The chapter reflects on Sendak's own American experience against the backdrop of the post-Holocaust world of his mother, drawing and writing mothers with all of the complexities he experienced. It investigates Sendak's stories that echo the overbearing Jewish mother and convey the limited power and emotional absence of his own mother.

She is always ill-treated as a weaker sex. But in the real life, she is more powerful than a man. Her commitment towards her work is always dedicated. She always tries to prove herself in any task assigned to her. This movement of women empowerment is not a new one. When you look back into the prehistoric period, women were treated as equal warriors, better half to men. They were strong enough in mind and soul. Then when and where did she lose her identity? Why is she treated as a weaker sex? Why she is deprived of her right to respect, recognition, and remuneration in the outer world with reference to her male colleagues? Through this chapter, the author is trying to shed light on the rights of a women, which she is deprived of since ages.

Abstract:
‘Lewis on the way’ describes the many images of C. S. Lewis—the author and the man. He was a Christian writer, religious and social philosopher, teacher, conversationalist, and general man of letters; he was imaginative and rational, authoritative and familiar, witty though intellectually severe, combative and mild, certain yet somehow restrained, defiant and unfashionable while also gregarious, good-humoured, and popular to the point of being charismatic. It concludes that his personal influence upon millions of people is deep, significant, and abiding, and his personality and life continue to arouse interest. His many voices have produced a trenchant body of work that includes hallmarks of its many types, remains relevant, and invites commentary.

Abstract:
In this article the author looks at the concept of Hispanism in the work of the Dominican writer Pedro Henríquez Ureña. Spain was present in Henríquez Ureña´s personal, humanistic, philological and essayistic interests. Linguistic brotherhood was superior to all other biases he could have held toward peninsular culture. Beginning with "En la orilla. Mi España" (1920), the writings that the author dedicates to Spanish literature are rich and plentiful, but they are not just essays and articles. In the "encyclopédiste" wake, he was closer to embracing an American Project, without giving up its Spanish roots, and open to the concept of “Hispanic”, what today we would call “transatlantic”.

Abstract:
Contemporary technologies in art are available from the 1960's. Virtual Fluxus is the result of more than a decade of digital practice events, which give a definition of the online world. This article on Virtual FLUXUS discusses the paradoxes of the Virtual in Contemporary Art. It starts its discussion with a citation from Al Hansen, as: “Fluxus is a Virtual Reality system where the glove doesn't work properly and the helmet doesn't fit. Other things happen than what was intended”. In this chapter, the author underlines that when Virtual FLUXUS happened, the gloves and goggles began to work, and when inside, things were more gloriously broken than could have been imagined. In this chapter, there are several examples of virtual artworks from different authors examined.

Abstract:
Concentrating on the development of her fiction during the decade spanning 1960 to 1970, this chapter traces the evolving relationship between Spark’s novels and the style and ethos of the nouveau roman. It focuses in particular on Spark’s inventive appropriation of what she termed ‘the drama of exact observation,’ as derived from the meticulous, externalised narration characteristic of the work of one of the key practitioners of the nouveau roman, Alain Robbe-Grillet. Although critical analysis of Spark’s relationship with the anti-novel has largely been restricted to a small selection of overtly experimental novels written by the author during the early 1970s, this chapter demonstrates that the nouveau roman also served as a crucial influence on earlier works including 1960’s subversive social satire, The Ballad of Peckham Rye, as well the uncharacteristically expansive sociopolitical novel, The Mandelbaum Gate, published in 1965. Both texts, the chapter argues, reveal Spark actively interrogating the alternatively humorous and horrifying possibilities of the nouveau roman as a mode of writing. The chapter culminates with a discussion of The Driver’s Seat as Spark’s Spark’s most direct – and self-reflexive – encounter with the anti-novel.

Abstract:
The author of the article aims to introduce Russian poetic texts into the teaching of Czech students on B1 level. The chosen teaching methodology is based on motivating the students with the use of Czech symbolist poetry by O. Březina and a subsequent analysis of a poem by V. S. Solovyov. Work with the poetry of both authors focuses on perceptual lexicon, which plays key role in uncovering the meaning of a symbolist text. Students can thus gain knowledge of polysemous words and their different author’s connotations in an enticing and creative way. This enhances not only their knowledge of the content and language, but also of the aesthetic component related to the main function of an artistic text

Abstract:
In a previous work, this author showed that ten topologies for under-actuated parallel wrists can be generated from the fully-parallel wrist. Three of them are obtained by simply replacing a spherical pair (S) with a nonholonomic spherical pair (nS). The S-(nS)PU-SPU, and S-(nS)PU-2SPU wrists are two of these three. The position analysis of these two wrists is studied in this paper. In particular, all the four position-analysis problems, which are necessary for implementing their path planning, are addressed and solved in closed-form. Despite their different topology, the position-analysis of these two wrists can be practically solved by using the same formulas and algorithms. Based on the deduced formulas, a path-planning algorithm is proposed. The obtained results make the studied wrist topologies able to replace “ordinary” wrists in the manipulation tasks which do not require tracking.

Abstract:
The use of S-CO2 as working fluid in a power cycle has been growing in recent years due to associated benefits such as highly compact power plant and high cycle thermal efficiencies for application including waste heat, solar thermal and nuclear power plants. Many authors have presented studies on S-CO2 cycle and its modifications and there also exists many patents which claim different embodiments of the S-CO2 cycle for different heat sources. Each author of the S-CO2 cycle embodiment uses some specific tool to analyze the cycle performance with assumed values of component efficiencies. In the S-CO2 cycle the ratio of turbine work to compressor work is relatively small and its variation may cause a significant influence on cycle performance estimation accuracy. Exact prediction of the S-CO2 cycle performance requires defining exact turbomachinery efficiency magnitudes. However, S-CO2 turbines and compressors are in development stage except for several low power scale prototypes and hence it is very difficult to make assumptions on efficiency and they need to be designed. To enable design of cycle from concept to detailed design of the turbomachinery, the authors in this work have developed a flexible design system which is starting from heat balance calculation, continues with sizing of turbomachinery flow path, through 1D/2D/3D aero and structural multidisciplinary optimization. Such a design process is iterative because a refinement of the turbomachinery efficiencies lead to change in cycle boundary conditions for turbomachinery design and the design needs to be refined by recalculation of the cycle. In the present work, four different embodiments of S-CO2 thermodynamic cycles were analyzed using assumed component efficiencies and based on the actual design of the turbomachinery components the cycle was recalculated and accurate performance of the cycle was predicted. It is observed that the turbine efficiency has significant influence on the overall cycle performance compared to the compressor efficiency.

Abstract:
The selection of a turbulence model for a problem is not trivial and has to be done systematically after comparison of various models with experimental data. It is a well known fact that there is no such turbulence model which fits all problems ([3], [13]). The flow in S-duct diffuser is a very complex one where both separation and secondary flow coexist. Previous work by the author on CFD analysis of S-duct diffuser was done using k-ε-Standard model [1], however it has been seen that choosing other turbulence model may result in better capturing of the physics in such a problem. Also flow control, to reduce energy losses, is achieved using a technique called Zero Net Mass Flow (ZNMF), in which suction and vortex generation jets (VGJ) are combined and positioned at optimum location. A proper turbulence model has to be chosen for capturing these phenomena effectively. Extensive experimental data is available on this problem and ZNMF technique from previous work done by one of the authors which is used for validating the CFD results. Here the focus is on choosing the best turbulence model for the S-duct diffuser. Numerical (CFD) analysis is carried out using Ansys Fluent 13.0 with six turbulence models for the geometry with (ZNMF) and without (Bare duct) flow control and then compared with the experimental results. The turbulence models used are Spalart-Allmaras, three variants of k-ε – Standard, RNG and Realizable and two variants of k-ω – Standard and SST model. All the parameters of comparison are non-dimensionalized using the free stream properties, so that the results are applicable to a wider range of problems. This work is limited to incompressible flow analysis, as the experimental data is only available for low Mach number flows. Comparison of all these models clearly shows that results obtained using k-ω-SST model are very comparable to the experimental results for the bare duct (without flow control) and flow controlled duct both in terms of distribution of properties and aggregate results. Compressible flow analysis can be attempted to achieve reliable results in future with ZNMF using the best turbulence model based on this study.

Abstract:
This paper presents a multiple flow-regime model for pressure drop during condensation of refrigerant R134a in horizontal microchannels. Two-phase pressure drops were measured in five circular channels ranging in hydraulic diameter from 0.5 mm to 4.91 mm. For each tube under consideration, pressure drop measurements were first taken over the entire range of qualities from 100% vapor to 100% liquid for five different refrigerant mass fluxes between 150 kg/m2-s and 750 kg/m2-s. Results from previous work by the author on condensation flow mechanisms in microchannel geometries were used to assign the applicable flow regime to the data points. Pressure drop models for intermittent (Garimella et al. 2002) and annular (Garimella et al. 2003a) flow reported earlier by the authors were modified and combined to develop a comprehensive model that addresses the entire progression of the condensation process from the vapor phase to the liquid phase. This combined model accurately predicts condensation pressure drops in the annular, disperse wave, mist, discrete wave, and intermittent flow regimes. Overlap and transition regions between the respective regimes are also addressed using an appropriate interpolation technique that results in relatively smooth transitions between the predicted pressure drops. The resulting model predicts 82% of the data within ±20%.

Abstract:
With the cohesive process zone representation of the micro-mechanistic processes that are associated with fracture as a basis, the author is involved in a wide-ranging research programme, the objective being to extend the sharp crack fracture mechanics methodology to blunt flaws, so as to take credit for the blunt flaw geometry. In earlier work, a blunt flaw fracture initiation relation has been derived, subject to the restriction that the process zone size s is small compared with the flaw depth (length) or any characteristic dimension of a configuration other than the root radius ρ. This relation gives the critical elastic flaw-tip peak stress σpcr, and has been derived using a two extremes procedure, whereby the separate solutions for small and large s/ρ are blended together so as to give a single relation that is valid for the complete spectrum of s/ρ values. The small s/ρ solution was obtained by inputting the stress field in the immediate vicinity of the flaw root into an analysis of the behaviour of a process zone at a planar surface. This paper provides formal justification for this small s/ρ procedure.

Abstract:
The author is involved in a wide-ranging research programme, whose objective is to extend the sharp crack fracture mechanics methodology to a blunt flaw, so as to take credit for the blunt flaw geometry. The basis of the approach is the process zone representation of the micro-mechanistic processes that are associated with fracture. In earlier work, a blunt flaw fracture initiation relation has been derived, subject to the restriction that the process zone size s is small compared with the flaw depth (length) or any other characteristic dimension, such as remaining ligament width, but not necessarily the flaw root radius ρ. The relation gives the critical elastic flaw-tip peak stress σpcr, and has been derived using a two extremes procedure, whereby the separate σpcr solutions for small and large s/ρ are blended together so as to give a single relation that is valid for the complete spectrum of s/ρ values. Equally well, one can develop a relation for σpcr, based on the separate solutions for vT, the relative displacement across the process zone at the flaw root. For the fracture initiation relation based on separate σpcr solutions to be meaningful, the relation should be close to that based on separate vT solutions. The objective of the work described in the present paper is to demonstrate that the two relations are indeed close to each other.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper presents a perspective on the work of Dr. J. W. Lund, in the field of rotor-bearing dynamics. Dr. Lund died on November 16, 2000 — indisputably the father of modern rotor-dynamic analysis. The perspective is somewhat personalized, and supplemented by personal knowledge, coming from someone who has known Dr. Lund for over 30 years, who has benefited from the insights of Dr. Lund, and whose career has been measurably advanced as a result of Dr. Lund’s personal and public contributions. The paper traces what the author considers to be the most influential work of Dr. Lund, both in published journals, in the software which has shaped the design and problem solution for modern turbomachinery, and in data published in various manuals, government reports, and course notes. It addresses, in particular, his work in oil bearings, gas bearings, unbalance response of flexible rotors, stability of flexible rotors, squeeze-film dampers, rotor balancing, and modal testing of rotors. It provides a road map for those who would revisit the knowledge base, which has shaped the design of high performance turbomachinery for industrial applications. It shows how the work of Dr. Lund has permeated the practice of today’s suppliers of turbomachinery, the users of turbomachinery, and the consultants to the industry. Some of the publications addressed specifically by the paper are the report volumes on rotor-dynamics prepared under contract by MTI, authored by Dr. Lund, and sponsored by the U.S. Air Force in the mid-1960’s, the RPI-MTI short course notes on gas bearings, software documentation, and major papers.

Full text
Abstract:
Earlier papers by the first author have described a computational method of estimating the cooling flow requirements of blade rows in a high temperature gas turbine, for convective cooling alone and for convective plus film cooling; this method of analysis and computation, when applied to the whole blade chord was compared with a well known semi-empirical method. In the current paper, a more sophisticated method is developed from the earlier work and is used to calculate the cooling flow required for a nozzle guide vane [the first blade row] of a high temperature gas turbine, with given inlet gas temperature and coolant inlet temperature. Now the heat flux through an elementary cross-sectional area of the blade, at given spanwise [y] and chordwise [s] locations, is considered, with a guessed value of the elementary coolant flow [as a fraction dΨ(s) of the external gas flow]. At the given s, integration along the blade length gives the blade metal temperatures at the outer and inner walls, Tbg[y] and Tbcl[y]. If the value of Tbg at the blade tip [y = H] is assumed to be limited by material considerations to Tbg,max then the elementary coolant flow rate may be obtained by iteration. Summation along the chord then gives the total coolant flow, for the whole blade. Results using the method are then compared with a simpler calculation applied to the whole blade, which assumes chordwise constant temperatures and constant selected values of cooling efficiency and film cooling effectiveness.
