Promoting longer lifetimes and efficient re-use of products has a significant potential to save resources and reduce adverse environmental impacts, especially for products that have large resource footprints related to extraction and production processes, as for instance automobiles. Remanufacturing is a product life extension strategy promoting the effective and efficient re-use of products by replacing worn-out components with used or end-of-life parts restored to “like-new” condition and functionality. For developing remanufacturing processes, it is important to take into account the consum

Abstract This paper investigates the potential effects of the Mercosur-EU agreement for the automotive value chains in Argentina and Brazil, identifying the trade balance movements of each partner. Its main results point to an improved trade balance in most automotive and auto parts products for the EU. Besides differences in international competitiveness, other factors prompt these results, such as differences in production scale between partners, greater tariff preferences granted by Mercosur, greater potential demand for vehicles in Argentina and Brazil than in the EU, higher regulation req

Nowadays, it is important to select the proper material for parts of the car-body’s deformation zones in terms of passenger safety. Due to wide range of high-strength steels on the market, the article presents the way of selecting the material by determining the deformation work and the stiffness constant, both measured by the stretch-bending test. The procedure was verified on a high-strength micro-alloyed steel HSLA, high-strength multi-phase steels DP 600 and TRIP, and an austenitic stainless steel AISI 304. The results indicate the austenitic steel is better to use in the deformation zones

To reduce the cost and to create value-added products from a plastic scrap, therefore, this research aim is to observe a possibility of using TPV and recycled polypropylene (rPP) blends as a raw material for OEM. The blends with various rPP loadings were successfully prepared through a traditional twin-screw extruder.
