"Transnational Strategies in Mircea Eliade’s Writings. In this article, we will consider the techniques through which an important hallmark of Romanian culture, Mircea Eliade, negotiated his transnational strategies, in a continual back-and-forth movement between his place of origin and a larger, cosmopolitan context. Paradoxically, as proven by Paul Cernat, it is not exoticism that will lead to his treatises on the history of religions, but on the contrary, the return to Sambo’s room, as described in The Forbidden Forest novel. The study offers a typology of tribalist political discourses, and also examines in detail one of the options common in national republics. Abstract:
Medieval chronicles record an ethnonym that is confusingly close to the name Rus' not only in Eastern, but also in Central Europe. Attempts to explain the toponymy of “Russian” origin north of the Danube by exclusively late waves of migration from the lands of Galicia and Podolia contradict the indications of a number of sources. The ethnonym Rut(h)eni, Oroszok and their accompanying toponyms, scattered across the east of the Carpathian Basin, mark not only the settlements of East Slavic migrants, but also, possibly, the settlements of the autochthonous ethnos, also known as veteres Russi, Rut

The article investigates the conceptual space of modern English humorous discourse as a system of hierarchically ordered concepts. The term "humorous discourse" means situationally conditioned interpersonal oral and mental activity aimed at the intellectual ability to see fun and cause laughter. The humorous discourse has become the attractive object of interest for discursologists nowadays, so it seems relevant to consider the conceptual space of modern English humorous discourse. A constructive unit of humorous discourse is the situation of witty communication, marked with national peculiari

In the years 1945–1950, the autochthons in Upper Silesia underwent nationality verification and repolonization. These processes gave rise to distrust of the Polish administration and the Women’s League, which was identified with the new government. The indigenous people did not participate in public and social life. The League’s activists made sporadic attempts to include Silesian women in the work of the organization. The situation changed with the implementation of the six-year plan.

This paper investigates teknonymy and multi-nominality as multiple identity markers for Vhavenḓa from an autochthonic view. Employing an ethnographic research design, and locating its argument within a six-pronged theoretical framework, the paper gleaned its data from two sources − interviews and document reviews. Its participants comprised 100 respondents. From this standpoint, the paper has mounted a discussion of the Vhavenḓa teknonymy. With reference to the latter, it has given pride of place to both teknonymy and multi-nominality, arguing that the two help engender multiple references, mu

The article considers some complex and difficult issues that regularly excite the researchers’ minds when referring to the early period of the Oirats’ ethnic history. Where the original homeland (ancestral homeland) of the Oirats was, what their ethnic composition was, the Oirats were migrants or autochthons of Western Mongolia, the Buryats participated in ethnogenesis of the Oirats, the Oirat-Buryat ethnic community really existed. Abstract:
A quite discreet god throughout the Aeneid, Faunus is commonly known as a secondary deity. However, Virgil’s rebuilding of the character appears to aim at a particular purpose. Since he redefines Faunus, once king and now part of Latium’s soil, as an embodiment of autochthony, the poet stages an example of how one should behave facing the arrival of Trojan exiles. While some other autochthonian characters, close to Faunus, are hostile, the god suggests acceptance of change and evolution towards a glorious fate - although sorrowful compromises may have to be made.

Abstract:
This article considers the long-debated and thorny issue of the transition from the Mesolithic to the Neolithic in Britain. The apparently polarised debate that has dominated this discussion is, we suggest, unhelpful, and rather than positing either total colonisation from abroad, or simple indigenous continuity, we propose a model where both incomers and autochthons had their part to play. To explore this further we trace continuities across the divide in practices of hunting and gathering, and place these alongside the demonstrable evidence for change.
