Abstract:
The computational analysis of materials is fundamental for a better understanding of their physical and mechanical properties, achieving more results in a shorter time. It is a cheaper, non-destructive, practical way, and easily adaptable to various types of models and physical influences. This study has the objective of ascertaining the stress and strain analysis in soil-cement brick through the Autodesk Inventor Professional software, which uses the finite element method. Three models of brick were made: two holes, monoblock, and groove, which are the most commonly used shapes. To the two holes model, the maximum first principal stress observed was 1.464x10-1 MPa and the third principal stress was 5.4x10-3 MPa, presenting an insignificant strain of 1.037x10-3 mm. In the monoblock model, the maximum first principal stress was 4.606x10-1 MPa, and the third principal stress was 1.19x10-2 MPa, presenting a strain of 1.611x10-3 mm. The groove model presented the maximum first principal stress at 3.263x10-1 MPa and for the third principal stress was 9.1x10-3 MPa, respectively, presenting a strain of 3.344x10-3 mm. It can also be observed that the models have stress concentrating regions in the sharp edges and notches of the part. Among the three models studied, the one that presented the most favorable stress-strain conditions was the two-hole model. Since it has a larger contact area, the load applied to it was better distributed, presenting higher resistance than the other models with a smaller contact area.

Abstract:
This article presents the procedure of designing and testing the virtual prototype of the one-track vehicle using the Autodesk Inventor Professional software. A multi-stage process of preparing the virtual prototype and the results of selected simulation tests were presented. During the first stage of work, a digital geometric model of the vehicle was created. The second stage includes placing the model in the dynamic simulation environment and defining the testing conditions corresponding to the actual vehicle operation conditions. The next phase relates to the realization of virtual model tests in the Autodesk Inventor dynamic simulation environment. The model was subjected to tests using the multibody systems method (MBS) to determine the forces and displacements in selected structural nodes of the vehicle, in motion on uneven ground conditions. The obtained simulation results in the form of force values over time and displacements were analyzed and conclusions were formulated. The test results can be used to conduct a more detailed endurance analysis of individual construction elements, model optimization and impact on the driver’s body. It was stated that the used method allows for a more efficient process of creating a new product and more efficient evaluation of the impact of the conditions in which it will be used.

Abstract:
This research examines the dynamic load resistance of the Giromill type wind turbine to the variable wind speed, which is converted to the value of the force received by the wind turbine blades. The analysis was carried out numerically using Autodesk Inventor Professional 2019 software. The variations in wind speed used were 2.5 m/s with a force value of 0.195 N for the Giromill turbine, at a speed of 3.5 m/s with a force value of 0.274 N, at 4.5 m /s with a Force value of 0.352 N and a wind speed of 5.5 m/s with a force rating of 0.430 N. From the simulation results using the Autodesk Inventor Pro 2019 software, the effect of gravitational force is greater than the wind force in, so stress analysis is mainly caused by gravity while the wind force has no significant impact. The simulation results also have a characteristic that the higher the wind speed, the lower the stress value. In addition to the dynamic load simulation, the author also tries to implement the Giromill wind turbines in Muara Enim district, South Sumatra, Indonesia. The wind turbine blade rotation will be faster, and the Wind Generator will produce a greater voltage if it is supported by sufficient wind speed.

Abstract:
This article analyzes the first self-propelled floating dredging machine designed and executed by Agustín de Betancourt in 1810 to dredge the port of Kronstadt (Russia). With this objective, a study of computer-aided engineering (CAE) has been carried out using the parametric software Autodesk Inventor Professional, consisting of a static analysis using the finite element method, of the 3D model which is reliable under operating conditions. The results have shown that the system of inertia drums proposed by Betancourt manages to dissipate the tensions between the different elements, locating the highest stresses in the links of the bucket rosary, specifically at the point of contact between links. Similarly, the maximum displacements and the greatest deformations (always associated with these points of greater stress), are far from reaching the limits of breakage of the material used in its construction, as well as the safety coefficient of the invention, confirming that the mechanism was oversized, as was generally the case at the time. This analysis highlights the talent of the Spanish engineer and his mastery of mechanics, in an invention, the first of its kind worldwide, which served the Russian Empire for many years.

Abstract:
Foldable furniture is a trend of the modern furniture industry. However, apart from limitations attributed to multifunctionality and space saving characteristics, a complete design process documentation of foldable furniture is uncommon in furniture research. This study aims to develop a space-saving multipurpose table for improved ergonomic performance. Features and functions are extracted from research articles and patents for concept generation. The final concept is modelled using Autodesk Inventor Professional 2019. Mechanical simulations are done to confirm the structural integrity of the invention before prototyping and testing. The tests accounted for usage efficiency, space and usability. Using Minitab 19, the experimental data are analysed with t-tests. The survey data are analysed using Spearman’s correlation test via IBM SPSS Statistics version 21. Participants were able to complete tasks around 1.1–1.5 times faster with the proposed invention than with single-function furniture items. The amount of space occupied with the proposed invention was approximately 25–80% lesser than with the single-function furniture items placed together. The survey analysis demonstrated that there was a strong, positive and significant correlation between space saving effectiveness and ergonomic performance. Further developments to transition this invention to its commercialisation phase should be done to facilitate daily living domestic activities of society at large.

This article presents results of the numerical analysis of cycloidal gearbox, which were obtained in MSC Adams engineering software. Multibody geometry for dynamical analysis was designed in Autodesk Inventor Professional 2017 and imported in MSC Adams. The results of analysis are forces acting on the internal and external sleeves, position, velocity and acceleration of the selected points on the cycloidal gearbox’s moving components. Indirect result is time course of the torque at output shaft which was calculated on the basis of forces acting on the internal sleeves, which are parts of the equilibrium mechanism and displacements of these sleeves. Knowledge about cycloidal gearbox’s loading conditions is important in its design process. Main advantage of a cycloidal gearbox is distribution of the forces on multiple external sleeves, while in majority of other gears only one tooth is in contact at a time.

Using the computer graphics tools in the design allows improve the design quality and speed, as well as provide the qualitative front end engineering design. In this paper the problem related to improvement of quality in engineering training for students of technical high educational institutions, that today is considered as one of the main tasks for the system of higher professional education. A method proposed by authors allows solve this problem in the frame of students training in disciplines of graphic cycle, and directed to introducing the computer technologies in the teaching process of students. This method provides the development of students’ professional skills in the area of products and electronic devices design, and in the front end engineering design. In such a case, design is regarded from the standpoint of project-process approach. Project-process approach is a combination of interrelated projects implemented in the frame of process. A process is considered as a group of projects aimed at achievement of a planned result – a design object model. Design objects models in the area of mechanical engineering, electronics and electric power engineering, are presented as drawings, schemes and 3D models. That is why the emphasis is upon models and drawings building by means of CAD software (Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Kompas-Grafik, Kompas 3D). A high level of students’ competences can be achieved by modernization the educational content so that from their first teaching year the students could see the relation of learned graphical disciplines with their future professional occupation and prospects of production development and project activities. State-oftheart software for devices design provides for students an opportunity to extent their possibilities in the learning of graphical disciplines’ courses. The project-process approach is necessary for identifying and studying the relationship between the design as a process and the reformative human activity in general.

Abstract:
This article shows the geometric modeling and virtual reconstruction of the optical telegraph by Agustín de Betancourt and Abraham Louis Breguet developed at the end of the 18th century. Autodesk Inventor Professional software has been used to obtain the three-dimensional (3D) model of this historical invention and its geometric documentation. The material for the research is available on the website of the Betancourt Project of the Canary Orotava Foundation for the History of Science. Thanks to the three-dimensional modeling performed, it has been possible to explain in detail both its operation and the assembly system of this invention in a coherent way. After carrying out its 3D modeling and functional analysis, it was discovered that the transmissions in the telegraph were not performed by hemp ropes but rather by metal chains with flat links, considerably reducing possible error. Similarly, it has also been found that the use of the gimbal joint facilitated the adaptability of the invention to geographical areas where there was a physical impediment to the alignment of telegraph stations. In addition, it was not now necessary for the telescope frames to be located parallel to the mast frame (frame of the indicator arrow) and therefore they could work in different planes.

Abstract:
This article shows the geometric modeling and virtual reconstruction of the inclined plane of Coalbrookdale (Shropshire, England) that was in operation from 1792 to 1894. This historical invention, work of the Englishman William Reynolds, allowed the transportation of boats through channels located at different levels. Autodesk Inventor Professional software has been used to obtain the 3D CAD model of this historical invention and its geometric documentation. The material for the research is available on the website of the Betancourt Project of the Canary Orotava Foundation for the History of Science. Also, because the single sheet does not have a scale, it has been necessary to adopt a graphic scale so that the dimensions of the different elements are coherent. Furthermore, it has been necessary to establish some dimensional, geometric, and movement restrictions (degrees of freedom) so that the set will work properly. One of the main conclusions is that William Reynolds designed a mechanism seeking a longitudinal symmetry so that, from a single continuous movement, the mechanism allows two vessels to ascend and descend simultaneously. This engineering solution facilitated a doubling of the working capacity of the device, as well as a reduction of the energy needs of the system.

Research on shallot planting feeding technology is an integral part of the shallot planter associations in which determines the suitable drop of shallot seeds to the planting mechanism. The shape of shallot seed will affect the process of selecting the feeding mechanism and feeding funnel shape. The dynamics study of shallot seeds in the feeding funnel and their movement (that is dependent on the profile and mass property of seeds) is important for manufacturing and running a good mechanism. The shallots will then be transferred by the feeding mechanism to the planting mechanism with a suitable falling trajectory. In this research, design and calculation of dynamics of the feeding mechanism of the shallot seeds is investigated using dynamics equations and also Autodesk Inventor Professional and Matlab Simulink codes. The suitable ranges of feeding mechanism parameters are obtained for the analyzed shallot seeds in terms of the specific shape, weight and mass center coordinates of the seeds.

Abstract:
The paper treats Finite Element Analysis (FEA) specific to the mechanical behavior of a structural layer cap type with polymer cellular cores within a pressure vessel. The layered composite structure comprises two outer polymer shells (synthetic glass/ plexiglass) and cellular polymer core with triangular shaped cells. This analysis uses the Autodesk Inventor 2016 Professional 3D design and modeling software, in conjunction with the FEA analysis program, ANSYS 14.5 - Workbench, using the Mesh module. Mechanical behavior of the structural models specific to the four types of test caps, each having different cellular polymer core (ABS, PLA, PC and CF, 3 and 5 mm thickness), is revealed through the analysis of the state of stresses and deformations and correlating the FEA simulation results with experimental testing. Since the analysis leads to quasi-equivalent results under identical conditions of application until the fracture of the caps, it is found that such an FEA approach of the mechanical system components occupies an important place in the modern design process, being one of the ways of identifying the deformation fields and equivalent stresses in the analyzed composite structures.

Multi-link rear axles offer some important advantages relative to vehicle handling. But the structure of the multilink split type generally determines kinematic incompatibilities in its operation. The paper studies some aspects surrounding constructive solutions that could minimize these kinematic incompatibilities. Some rear axle mechanisms from different cars were measured and analyzed as component shape by authors; this process allows the geometrical modeling and animation of systems using specialized software (Autodesk Inventor Professional 8). The effects of these modeled structures (the variations of track width and wheel camber angle) have been studied using the above-mentioned software. The variation of track width caused by the studied mechanisms along the compression and relaxation of the suspension spring defines the trajectory of the tyre contact patch. The results are contextualized in diagrams showing that the modifications of the analyzed parameters are very important, with a negative influence on car stability and the comfort of passengers. The interpretation of these diagrams allows the choice of favorable constructive solutions to increase car performance.

In the modern world, an aerial platform (auto-hydraulic lift) is an integral part of a rich model range of special crane equipment. The first primitive lift consisted of a lever, hinged on the base. A traction rope was placed on one side of the lever, and a counterweight on the other. With the help of his own physical strength, a person was able to rise to a small height using such a simple lifting mechanism. Currently, many types of lifts are used, which differ in height characteristics and the design of the lifting mechanism. Goal. The aim of this work is to study the kinematics of the moving elements of a hydraulic lift using a virtual model created on the basis of the Autodesk Inventor Professional software package. The model is based on an existing physical object. To study the kinematics of individual units and the installation as a whole, we use the method of modeling individual units and units of a machine, collecting them into a single mechanism with the task of all possible movements of structural elements in the Inventor package. Methodology. The assigned tasks can be solved by special design tools that are included in the software product, namely the environment for dynamic modeling, stress analysis. These tools are accessed while working in the "Assembly" environment, using the ribbon tabs "Design" and "Environments". The results of further research will bepresented in future publications.

Abstract:
This article analyses the double-acting steam engine designed by Agustín de Betancourt in 1789 and based on the steam engine of James Watt. Its novelty and scientific interest lies in the fact that from the point of view of industrial archaeology and the study of technical historical heritage there is no worldwide study on this invention, which marked a historic milestone in the design of the steam engines of the Industrial Revolution (1760–1840). This underscores the utility and originality of this research. To this end, a study of computer-aided engineering (CAE) was carried out using the parametric software Autodesk Inventor Professional, consisting of a static analysis using the finite-element method of the 3D CAD model of the invention under real operating conditions. The results have shown that the double-acting steam engine was correctly designed considering that the values of the maximum von Mises stress (188.4 MPa) obtained were taken away from the elastic limit of the material it was made of (cast iron), as well as to the maximum deformations (0.14% with respect to its length) obtained in the same element that presents the maximum stress (opening axle of the high pressure steam valve). Similarly, the maximum displacements (18.74 mm) are located in the mobile counterweights that transmit certain inertia to facilitate the opening and closing of the valves. Finally, if we look at the results of the safety coefficient, whose lowest value was 4.02, we could say that the invention was oversized, following constructive criteria of the time, as there were no resistance tests on materials that would help in the optimization of the design of the invention.

In this paper, the geometric modeling and virtual reconstruction of the double-acting steam engine designed by Agustín de Betancourt in 1789 are shown. For this, the software Autodesk Inventor Professional is used, which has allowed us to obtain its geometric documentation. The material for the research is available on the website of the Betancourt Project of the Canary Orotava Foundation for the History of Science. Almost all parts of the steam engine are drawn on the sheets, but due to the absence of scale and space, it is insufficient to obtain an accurate and reliable 3D CAD (Computer-Aided Design) model. For this reason a graphic scale has been adopted so that the dimensions of the elements are coherent. Also, it has been necessary to make some dimensional and geometric hypotheses, as well as restrictions of movement (degrees of freedom). Geometric modeling has made it possible to know that the system is balanced with the geometric center of the rocker arm shaft, and presents an energetic symmetry whose axis is the support of the parallelogram where the shaft rests: calorific energy to the left and mechanical energy to the right, with the rocker arm acting as a transforming element from one to the other.

The aim of this study was to determine the the optimum locations to mount the sensor for measuring the cutting tool deflection during turning process using finite element method simulation. In this study, stress analysis had been conducted using Autodesk Inventor Professional 2010 integrated with ANSYS software. The simulation results were validated using a strain gauge as the sensor for the detection of cutting force signal during the turning of hardened plain carbon steel JIS S45C using carbide tool. Two strain gauges were mounted on the tool holder at two defined locations I and II, at distances of 37 and 47 mm, respectively, from the cutting point. Only one set of cutting parameters was conducted at spindle speed, N = 1000 rpm, feed, f = 0.25 mm/rev and depth of cut, d = 0.80 mm. The turning process was stopped and the insert discarded when the average flank wear, VBm, reached 0.30 mm. The main cutting force, Fy, and the feed force, Fx, for each machining run were measured, collected and analysed at locations I and II. It was found that when strain gauges were placed at a distance of approximately 43 mm from the cutting point, it was the optimum location for sensing the cutting force signals.

To this end, a study of computer-aided engineering (CAE) was carried out using the parametric software Autodesk Inventor Professional, consisting of a static analysis using the finite-element method (FEM) of the 3D model of the invention under real operating conditions. The results obtained after subjecting the mechanism to the two most unfavorable situations (blockage situation of the inertia flywheel and emergency braking situation) indicate that, with the exception of the braking bar, the rest of the assembly is perfectly designed and dimensioned. In particular, for the blockage situation, the point with the greatest stress is at the junction between the inertia flywheel and the axle to which it is attached, the maximum value of von Mises stress being at that point (186.9 MPa) lower than the elastic limit of the cast iron. Also, at this point the deformation is very low (0.13% of its length), as well as the maximum displacement that takes place in the inertia flywheel itself (22.98 mm), and the lowest safety factor has a value of 3.51 (located on the wooden shaft support), which indicates that the mechanism is clearly oversized. On the other hand, the emergency braking situation, which is technically impossible with a manual operation, indicates that the braking bar supports a maximum von Mises stress of 1025 MPa, above the elastic limit of the material, so it would break. However, other than that element, the rest of the elements have lower stresses, with a maximum value of 390.7 MPa, and with safety factors higher than 1.7, which indicates that the mechanism was well dimensioned.

Abstract:
One of the important tasks in the design of gears and gearboxes based on them is to increase the load capacity, durability and noise reduction with moderate requirements for manufacturing precision by providing elastic compliance of the teeth with simple satellite manufacturing technology. In the paper is firstly presented a base satellite in a precessional transmission. The design is rigid and non-technological. There was simulated the workload and the results are presented as a linear deformation. Simulation was based on the special module for the calculation and analysis of complex structures using the integrated module Stress Analysis (program Autodesk Inventor Professional 2012). It uses the finite element method calculation, based on the ANSYS program. Then is shown an optimized satellite structure. This option provides an increased durability and noise reduction due to local and general tooth compliance. The main drawback of this satellite is the high laboriousness of making cut-outs in the satellite. In this satellite, by increasing the diameter of the radial channel, it is possible to reduce the wall thickness and thereby increase the compliance. The simulation results of a new satellite design are presented. Compliance increased roughly by 4 times compared to the base version. When the gear is in mesh with the satellite, due to the increased elastic compliance of the teeth, a multi-pairing mesh is achieved, which reduces the contact loads and noise, increases the service life of the transmission.

Abstract:
The paper refers to the development of an intelligent sorting and transport system. This research aims to develop such systems and solve problems in multi-directional transport as well as the development of a sorting, transport and positioning system that can be used in various fields. At the same time, the omnidirectional transport system is a modular transport and sorting system. It consists of several small hexagonal transport cells, each with three individually operated omnidirectional wheels. By individually controlling the wheels, objects can be transported freely in all directions. This opens unlimited possibilities to create new concepts for handling materials or to improve existing classic ones. Due to the modular construction and the individual control of the omnidirectional wheels, the sorting tasks can be adapted very quickly. This will allow you to perform different tasks in very small areas. Individual control of objects also allows for exact alignment or individual rejection of objects. The system has been designed to transport work objects. To design the module, it was necessary to create its scale geometric model using the Autodesk Inventor Professional 2018 design environment. To make the module, it was used through the rapid prototyping process with Fused Deposition Modelling, the material used being Polylactic Acid. The solution adopted allows any transported object to always be supported on at least three wheels, this allows the direction of movement of the object to be controlled by the movement of the wheels.

Abstract:
Waste material flowing in rivers creates several problems in various aspects, especially in environmental aspects. One of the waste-capturing mechanisms which is widely applied is the trash rack. However, studies show that trash racks have the potential to block river flow which increases the risk of flooding. This study proposes a screw conveyor-based waste capturing mechanism with a modification of the blade’s design resembling a trash rack and integrated with monitoring system using the internet of things. The research was conducted through three methods of virtual prototyping, the CAD (Computer-Aided Design) design method through calculation of machine elements and 3-dimensional design process using Autodesk Inventor Professional 2018 software, the design analysis method which includes computational fluid dynamics analysis and three-dimensional stress analysis using ANSYS software, as well as methods for designing and testing monitoring systems using the open-source NodeMCU board and Google Firebase real-time database. The result obtained from this research are the design and specifications of screw conveyor components, v-belt transmission systems, ball contact bearings, and electric motors with a waste-capturing capacity of 0.368 m3/s. The results of the design validation show that the velocity of water flowing through the design geometry is not significantly reduced and the design is able to withstand a combination of self-load and pressure loads due to water flow. The monitoring website has been able to display real-time sensor-acquired data.
