Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to determine how the internal control in the operations of automated teller machines and how account information systems in the operation of automated teller machines are carried out by the bank. The research conducted over the operations leading to automatic teller machines that take place at the ATM machine located in the location of research. From these results conclude that intern control and accounting information systems run by BJB bank branch in the operational activities cash is going well. This can be seen from the operation of intem components and elements of the system are implemented in accordance with standard operational procedures set by the bank BJB Bogor Branch. Starting from the transaction, ATM cash hospitalization until the completion of the cash transaction error has been running well in accordance with the provisions of the bank

Abstract:
Voting is a critical element of any election which involves the processes of electing leaders or representatives into positions of authority in a democratic system of government. In most developing countries of the world, this process is usually marred with challenges of confidentiality, integrity, availability and auditability such as falsification of results, identity theft, theft of ballot boxes, multiple voting problems, over voting, and electoral fraud. This paper presents a framework for Automated Teller Machine-based voting system that solves the aforementioned challenges of the current voting system by using the existing Automated Teller Machines and debit cards issued for voting. Going further to implement the solution proposed in this paper will enhance and guarantee the credibility of the electoral processes and show a true reflection of the wishes of the people.

Abstract: Skimming of card details is the primary problem faced by many people in today’s world. This can be done in many ways. For instance, a thief can insert a small device into the machine and steal the information. When a person swipes or inserts a card, the details will be captured and stored. This problem can be solved using biometrics. Biometrics include fingerprint, iris, face, retina scanning, etc. This paper focused on solving this issue using fingerprint and iris recognition using OpenCV and propose a suitable method for this issue. Fingerprint and iris recognition are performed by identifying the keypoints and descriptors and matching those with the test data. Abstract:
An Automated Teller Machine (ATM), also known as Automated Banking Machine (ABM) or cash machine and several other names, is a computerized telecommunication device that provides access to financial transactions in a public space without the need for a cashier or other intermediaries. The Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) has been widely used due to its convenience but also serves as a source of bacterial contamination. The aim of this work was to determine the bacterial load of surfaces of selected ATMs in Kano metropolis. Swab samples were collected from four (4) selected areas and ten (10) different study sites. The samples were collected using swabbing technique and standard plate count was employed for the enumeration of bacterial counts. The mean bacterial counts ranged between the lowest count of 1.20 x 102cfu/cm2 and the highest count of 1.78 x 102cfu/cm2 and the mean count of individual machine ranged from 1.70 x 101 cfu/cm2 upto 6.00 x 101cfu/cm2. All the ATMs were found to be contaminated. It could thus be concluded that the ATMs studied present a very great risk factor for cross contamination. The general public should therefore be enlightened on the possible health hazards associated with such items like ATMs and thus advised for strict personal hygiene and regular washing of hands before and after contact with ATMs so as to reduce the possible transfer of bacterial diseases and/or infections.

Abstract:
The market challenge in form of increasing competition for success in the banking sector calls for market strategies that are customer- based towards raising the performance of Nigerian banks. The use by banks, of Automated Teller Machines and Mobile banking are at the centre stage of this market strategy. Existing knowledge on this aspect of marketing is inadequate. This study assessed the empirical effects of Automated Teller Machine and Mobile banking as marketing tools on return on equity of banks in Nigeria. Both primary and secondary data were used in the study. The data were fitted to Panel regression models of Fixed and Random effects. Findings support increasing distribution of Teller machines and raising awareness on Mobile banking as result-oriented marketing strategy for banks.

Gourlay, Adrian R. "The diffusion of process innovation in the UK financial sector : an empirical analysis of automated teller machine (ATM) diffusion." Thesis, Loughborough University, 1999. https://dspace.lboro.ac.uk/2134/7082.

Full text
Abstract:
Recent policy initiatives have identified that the diffusion of innovation constitutes an important component in technical change and progress and is the impetus behind changes in firm productivity. To date, however, the main emphasis of economists has been on the diffusion of process innovations in the industrial sector with diffusion in the financial sector either ignored or, at best, summarised by a number of stylised facts relating to the spread of information. The objective of this thesis is to explore the inter-firm determinants of ATM adoption and diffusion in the UK financial sector and identify firm-specific and market factors in the diffusion process. The empirical analysis draws on duration analysis which represents the current state-of-art modelling approach to inter-firm diffusion. This approach conceptualises inter-firm diffusion as a cross-section of durations of nonadoption from which, most importantly, hypothesised factors (or `covariates') can be examined by their significance or otherwise on the conditional probability of adoption. The main findings of this thesis support the stylised fact often made in the diffusion literature that the inter-firm diffusion curve is sigmoid and characterised by a nonmonotonic hazard function. Furthermore the empirical analysis supports the hypothesis that firm-specific characteristics and expectations have played a crucial role in the interfirm diffusion of ATMs. In addition, the results indicate that the diffusion of ATMs in the UK has been characterised by the existence of positive network externalities. The results are also shown to be robust across a number of model specifications and assumptions concerning the time-path of covariates.
