Distribution Automation (DA) is deployed to reduce outages and to rapidly reconnect customers following network faults. Recent developments in DA equipment have enabled the logging of load and fault event data, referred to as pick-up activity. This pick-up activity provides a picture of the underlying circuit activity occurring between successive DA operations over a period of time and has the potential to be accessed remotely for off-line or on-line analysis. The application of data analytics and automated analysis of this data supports reactive fault management and post fault investigation i

This technique makes it possible for the dermatologist to observe subcutaneous structures that would be invisible otherwise. Abstract:

Abstract:
The retinal fundus image analysis has become a common diagnostics tool, as it allows e.g. to gather information on the blood circulation in an easy and non-invasive way. My activity during the PhD has primarily focused on the development of algorithms and tools for the retinal images analysis allowing an automatic and reproducible understanding of information about the blood circulation and in particular about the structural features of the vascular network and the clinical parameters inferable from them. If several algorithms have been developed to segment the blood vessels, a very few

Abstract:
This dissertation deals with the study, development and implementation of condition monitoring algorithms for automatic machines. These are implemented in the machine's PLC. First, data are collected from the machine. Each motion group has been studied to sample the most relevant points (10 points in total) in its trajectory. Second, data have been analysed. In particular, normality of data has been checked. Third, the condition monitoring task is fulfilled with a statistical analysis. In this context two tests are presented: the scalar test and the vector test. The scalar test consists in

Tongue diagnosis tops the four diagnoses and hence is crucial to the inspection diagnosis in Chinese Medicine. Clinically, doctors mostly rely on their own knowledge and experience when determining major lesions of a patient by observing the coloration, overall modalities, and volume of salivary on different parts of the tongue. As a result, the diagnosis tends to

This study investigates automatic fault diagnosis for reciprocating compressors. Valve problems are reported as the primary reason for unexpected shutdowns of reciprocating compressors. Compressor valves fail for a variety of reasons, which can generally be attributed to either design flaws or operational mistakes. By making seeded faults, the valve’s fault dynamic features can be extracted
