Abstract Two collaborative studies were conducted by the American Society of Brewing Chemists (ASBC) to evaluate use of an automatic beer analyzer for determination of alcohol content and original gravity of beer. Repeatability and reproducibility values obtained in the first study were satisfactory. The second study compared the automated method with the ASBC distillation method. Results by the 2 methods were similar; however, repeatability and reproducibility were better for the automated method.
