Abstract:
This paper reports on community service activities carried out by the Politechnic Indonusa of Surakarta team foreign exchange reserves. Devotion is focused on the members of the cadet reef who have graduated from school that aim to provide knowledge and skill regarding repairs and maintenance of air conditioning (ac) cars. Through this program, it is expected that participants will be better prepared to open jobs in the service areas. This devotion begins with theoretical delivery, consisting of basic component materials and an automobile - conditioned mechanical system. Materials are delivered by methods of speech, discussion and question-and-answer. Participants are given understanding on how the components work, unloading the tides, checking damage, cleaning and trouble shooting on car ac units. The training was followed by 22 participants. The results of this training, being able to provide skill and understanding in the repair of car air conditioning, make it possible for participants to start their own businesses especially in the proper and proper areas of care and car ac repair.

Abstract:
This work reports on social service activities at the Department of Automotive Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Padang. This activity is targeted at out-of-school youth in Karang Taruna. The service is carried out in order to increase knowledge and skills in repairing and maintaining the Air Conditioner (AC) system in cars. Through this program, it is hoped that new experiences and knowledge can benefit the people of Karang Taruna. This program is carried out by delivering the basic theory of the car air conditioner working system. The activity is carried out using an AC system trainer. The participants were given an understanding of the methodology, the system of the refrigerants, and how to maintenance or repair the car's air conditioning system. The success rate of this activity is evidenced by the results of the post-test, in which an increment in the average score of 14.4 points.

Abstract:
The air conditioning (AC) system in a vehicle is a crucial component, especially in cars. Its primary task is to ensure the comfort of the driver and passengers. This system requires monitoring and maintenance for long-term use. This also applies to the AC system in Avanza/Xenia vehicles. Maintenance and repairs are ways to address issues that may weaken or damage your vehicle's AC system. Of course, maintenance and repair procedures should be carried out in accordance with proper troubleshooting rules. Troubleshooting involves a process known as diagnosis, which is the step to identify signs of damage and schedule investigations to resolve existing problems. Inspections involve using measuring tools such as a compressor and a multimeter on the magnetic clutch and evaporator to check the main components of the AC system. This is done to determine whether these components are operating properly according to service and maintenance standards for vehicle AC systems. Upon identification, corrective actions can be taken. The results show that the resistance value of the magnetic clutch coil is 3.9 ohms, and the magnetic clutch gap is 0.5 mm. The blower system resistance with three speed variations is 2.6 ohms at the low position, 0.7 ohms at the middle position, and 0 ohms at the high position. The blower motor resistance is 4 ohms. The measured values fall within the service limits or normal range as per the Avanza/Xenia manual. Therefore, it can be concluded that there are no issues with the AC system in the Avanza/Xenia vehicle, and the condition of the AC system is normal and suitable for use. No repair procedures are required, only routine maintenance is performed to ensure all components are in good condition. Highlights: Routine maintenance prolongs AC system lifespan. Melalui program ini diharapkan siswa lebih siap dalam mempersiapkan diri untuk memasuki dunia kerja. Pengabdian ini diawali dengan penyampaian teori, berupa materi - materi komponen dasar dan sistem kerja mesin AC mobil. Materi disampaikan dengan metode ceramah, diskusi dan tanya jawab. Siswa diberikan pemahaman terkait cara pencucian unit AC (pembersihan indoor dan outdoor), pengecekan kerja mesin dan trouble shooting dalam AC. Pelatihan diikuti oleh 21 orang peserta. Hasil dari pelatihan ini, mampu memberikan keterampilan dan pemahaman berkaitan dengan AC, sehingga dimungkinkan siswa dapat membuka usaha sendiri khususnya dalam bidang perawatan dan perbaikan AC yang baik dan benar. The condition of work training centers that have new buildings but are not yet supported with adequate equipment and human resources and according to needs still require support from stakeholders to improve their quality. Bandung State Polytechnic, especially the Department of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering, is experienced enough and feels the need to contribute to the development program of the BLK Kuningan, especially in the field of Facilities Development and Instructor Training in the Field of Maintenance and Repair of Display Cases at BLK Kuningan Regency. This program aims to increase the role of the BLK in increasing the competence of Human Resources according to the needs of the labor market. The method implemented is through the Facility Development and Instructor Training Program in the Field of Maintenance and Repair of Display Cases. This activity has been carried out in theory and practice with a ratio of 20% theory and 80% practice in the field which was held at BLK Kuningan. The outputs that have been achieved include training participants having sufficient competence as instructors in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning engineering, especially regarding maintenance and repair of display case machines, availability of job sheets and theory and practice modules on basic refrigeration, especially for display case machines, a set training unit display case and its service equipment.

Abstract:
This study proposes a novel decentralized sensor fault detection and self-repair method for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems. From the perspective of network structure, sensor fault diagnosis in heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems is distributed to the updated smart sensors without the monitoring host, which is necessary in the traditional centralized method. A fully distributed flat sensor network is established based on fundamental physical equations. Similar to the structure, mechanism and characteristics of biological communities, a smart sensor needs only to communicate with adjacent nodes and operate collaboratively to complete sensor fault detection and self-repair tasks. These tasks are formulated as a constrained optimization and are solved by a decentralized algorithm with a penalty function executed in all the sensor nodes in parallel. The diagnosis model introduces an exponential function method to determine the precise location and undertake self-repair of a fault node. Simulation results on a chilled water system illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Practical application: The traditional sensor fault detection and diagnosis methods for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems are based on a centralized structure with several deficiencies, such as high maintenance and labor costs, link congestion and operational lag. This study presents a decentralized sensor network structure and exponential-function-based method that possess the advantages of plug-and-play, rapid deployment, high flexibility and convenience for engineering implementation without having to build a central monitor. The efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed method are demonstrated via a case study.

In this era of global competition, companies are required to increase productivity in their companies so that they can compete with other companies. One of the indicators in increasing productivity is the level of reliability of the production machines in the company. In measuring how good the reliability of a production machine is, an effective and efficient maintenance process is needed for the company. In this case the Air Conditioner or hereinafter abbreviated as AC is one of the indoor air conditioning devices. One company that uses an Air Conditioner or AC to support the production process and the activities of its employees, especially those working in the production room, is PT Tifico Fiber Indonesia Tbk. The purpose of this study is to determine the critical components and the appropriate interval of Air Conditioner maintenance. Then a study was conducted to propose maintenance scheduling time intervals using the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) method and to determine critical components using the Failure Mode Effect and Analysis (FMEA). From the research, it was found that the critical components of the splite type Air Conditioner component were the outdoor fan motor with an RPN value of 120, a compressor with an RPN value of 200, an outdoor capacitor with an RPN value of 140 and an indoor pcb with an RPN value of 168. Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), Mean Time To Failure (MTTF) Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) method obtained by outdoor fan motors for 13 days, compressors for 10 days, outdoor capacitors for 90 days and indoor pcb for 24 days.Keywords : Maintenance, Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), Mean Time To Failure (MTTF), Failure Mode Effect and Analysis (FMEA).

Researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have developed technologies to lower maintenance costs for the Navy and to automate more tasks at the factory. The scope of the institute’s engineering research has also grown from its origins in textiles, ceramics, and early helicopter—or autogyro—design. Today, student and faculty researchers in Georgia Tech’s Logistics and Maintenance Applied Research Center—LandMARC—are using the latest information technology to reduce the maintenance and logistics costs for aircraft, I transit buses, and emergency vehicles. The first project undertaken by LandMARC is expected to reduce the cost of maintaining the US Navy’s aging fleet of Lockheed Martin P-3 Orion anti-submarine aircraft by more than $1 million per year. Georgia Tech and Navy personnel are concentrating on improving the diagnostic techniques for the Orion’s engine-driven compressor because it is the airplane’s single most costly repair item. The compressor supplies air to several key aircraft systems, including internal pressurization, engine start, and air conditioning.

Abstract:
A decentralized control structure is introduced into the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system to solve the high maintenance and labor cost problem in actual engineering. Based on this new control system, a decentralized optimization method is presented for sensor fault repair and optimal group control of HVAC equipment. Convergence property of the novel method is theoretically analyzed considering both convex and nonconvex systems with constraints. In this decentralized control system, traditional device is fitted with a control chip such that it becomes a smart device. The smart device can communicate and operate collaboratively with the other devices to accomplish some designated tasks. The effectiveness of the presented method is verified by simulations and hardware tests.

Pelatihan ini diikuti oleh 6 peserta dari departemen facility dibagi dalam 2 (dua) sesi, yaitu sesi teori, dan sesi praktik. Pada sesi pertama, peserta diberikan pengetahuan terkait dengan teori berupa materi - materi penunjang praktik dengan metode ceramah, dan diskusi/tanya jawab. Ships have a wide variety of machinery available onboard that is crucial for her sustenance at sea for prolonged durations. The machinery can be grouped into various plants, such as propulsion plant, air conditioning plants, power generation plants, etc., each having its own specific function. The plants in turn are composed of various systems which further comprise various types of machinery. There are redundancies built in at the plant level, as well as at the system and at machinery level, so as to improve the reliability of the ship as a whole. Planning of maintenance schedule, specifically for tasks which can only be undertaken in an ashore repair yard is a daunting task for the maintenance managers. The paper presents a NSGA-II (nondominated sorting genetic algorithm) based multi-objective optimization approach to arrive at an optimum maintenance plan for the vast variety of machinery in order to improve the average reliability of ship's operations at sea at minimum cost. The paper presents the advantages that can accrue from introducing short maintenance periods for a select group of machinery, within the constraints of mandatory operational time, over the method of following a common maintenance interval for all the machinery. The problem function in hand is nonlinear, multi-modal and multi-objective in nature. The search spaces for the problem is noncontinuous and the (multiple) variables, such as time interval for maintenance, serial number of equipment, number of minor maintenance actions, etc., are uncoded real parameters.

Each of these important components has different functions and ways of operating, but are connected to each other so that the cooling machine can function. The purpose of the author making this final project is to determine the performance of the cooling system, factors that reduce the performance of the cooling machine, as well as repair and maintenance efforts so that the cooling machine can return to normal operation. This research was conducted on the MV. Vancouver by using a qualitative approach. The author conducted direct observations as well as in-depth interviews and documentation studies when conducting research. The results of the author's research found that the main factor causing the decline in the performance of the cooling machine was the appearance of sparks on the evaporator and coil pipe caused by interference with the filter dryer so that it inhibits heat absorption and the evaporator cannot evaporate the refrigerant optimally. The impact caused by the less than optimal operation of the cooling machine in the Engine Room Workshop MV. Vancouver was an unstable room temperature making the crew feel uncomfortable while working or resting.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of the paper is to provide a method for selection of an optimum level of repair by replacement of an equipment based on its cost. In a ship where the engineer has a vast variety of equipment and systems to operate and maintain within limited time frames and availability of human resources, it is often difficult to disassemble a whole equipment to replace a faulty component. It is instead a lot easier to just replace the faulty equipment with whole new equipment. However, such a decision comes at an enormous capital cost. Therefore, the key question is, can we have a model to help us arrive at a decision on the correct level of carrying out repairs? Design/methodology/approach – The paper uses a model based on cost and convolution of failure distributions of critical sub-components of an equipment. Necessary assumptions based on real life experience have been incorporated in the model. Findings – The paper used an example of a particular type of motor driven sea water centrifugal pump which was commonly used in main engine sea water system, firefighting system, air conditioning system, etc. The pump had one of the highest failure rates in the ship (approximately one failure per 150 days) and the engineers found it cost and time effective to replace the entire pump on failure rather than carrying out replacement of the failed components. The model analyzed that the engineer’s hunch was not off the mark. Research limitations/implications – The implication of the work presented in the paper will be savings in maintenance cost and downtime due to optimal level of repairs on a multi-component equipment. The limitations of the work are assumption of independence of failures of components. This may not be true in all the cases. Further, opportunity based maintenance has also not been considered. Originality/value – The originality of the paper lies in the presentation of a method for selection of an optimum level of maintenance for a multi-component equipment

Airplanes are a universal means of transportation, with planes, we don't have to worry about the time when we want to go anywhere because with airplane transportation we can go anywhere in an efficient and short time. In this day and age, aircraft technology is very advanced. The aircraft component itself consists of several components, namely the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU). The APU functions to supply pneumatic and electrical energy for aircraft, where the electrical functions for electricity on the aircraft while pneumatic functions for engine starting, hydraulic pressure, air conditioning and others. This research method is descriptive research consisting of drafting, data collection, data processing and report preparation. In this step there are more stages which will later serve to get a conclusion in the study. Basically the trouble that often occurs when the APU starting process is on the starter motor component, Troubleshoot that often occurs in the starter motor component, namely the starter motor will continue to rotate when it reaches 50% rpm rotation caused by a starter motor problem, starter relay problem and electronical speed switch problem. Therefore, we must immediately repair or replace these components according to the aircraft maintenance manual so that the aircraft remains airworthy.

The authors suggest an approach to determine the technical conditions of life support systems of public buildings in conditions of significant uncertainty of statistical information on failures. To improve the re1iabi1ity and increase the resources of life support systems, maintenance and repair strategies are proposed according to the actual state, which implies the availability of objective diagnostic information. The essence of methods for constructing images of system failures based on training procedures is revealed, the latter being founded on the theory of nonparametric statistical analysis. The image is understood as a formalized description of the failure as an element of the system diagnosis model. The solution of image synthesis problem is given when the orthogonal trigonometric basis is applied in the recurrent relations implementing the learning process. The specific case assumes the existence of data on ranges of diagnostic parameter change at all failures of the investigated object. A modification of the training procedure is performed to build images of failures of life support systems of the latest generation when it is possible to find the ranges of changes in diagnostic parameters only in operational state. The modification consists of the formation and application of an orthonormal binary basis in recurrent relations. There is an example of image constructing of one of the ventilation and air conditioning system failures of a public building on the basis of a modified training procedure.

As the number of electric and hybrid vehicle users increases, there is growing interest in the topic of maintenance and servicing costs. Many literature sources do not provide information on this topic and only limit themselves to energy costs. However, it is not just energy costs that make up the total cost of owning such a vehicle. What is missing is an analysis of the difference between the cost of maintenance and operation of electric vehicles and that of internal combustion engine vehicles. This paper presents a results of research regarding the repair and servicing costs of electric and hybrid vehicles compared to combustion vehicles. A survey was carried out which shows that the repair costs of electric and hybrid vehicles are more than 20% higher. Repair and servicing of electric and hybrid vehicles should also take into account the repair time (depending on the availability of parts and the repair schedule of the repair shop in question) and the availability of personnel with the appropriate competence for such a repair. The five most frequently replaced items in internal combustion vehicles were: braking system, suspension system, oils and operating fluids and air conditioning. The five most frequently replaced items in hybrid and electric vehicles are: battery replacement or reconditioning, coolant replacement, suspension system, oils and operating fluids, electronics in general and braking system.

Gas conditioning or cooling towers have broad industrial applicability, especially in the cement industry. Most cement factories deal with the same problems as others do. However, the solutions to these problems are barely internationally published and have not received much attention, which results in spending a lot of time and money researching the previous solutions. Iran is among the top ten cement manufacturing countries in the world. Therefore, many of these problems have occurred in Iranian cement factories. The purpose of the present paper is to provide a review of studies in this field over the last decades, with a particular focus on advances in Iran. This paper concludes the most important findings of the literature to suggest the best possible solutions for improving the performance and lifetime of gas conditioning towers and for decreasing the common problems, such as dust build-up and wet bottom. Furthermore, the paper reviews the numerical methods for modelling different aspects of these towers. The results can also be used to reduce water and energy consumption, air pollution, and repair and maintenance costs of cement factories.

So that there will be no errors in data input, data output, and report results based on the desired data. PT Berkatmas Mulia Guna is a company engaged in HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) contractors. Includes new installation of HVAC machines and systems, maintenance and repair of HVAC systems. PT Berkatmas Mulia Guna also includes manufacturing HVAC machines such as AHU, FCU, Exhaust Fan, Supply Fan and Heating. A lot of data changes and a long process of stock data collection from suppliers and customers in the process of processing inventory data, will result in inaccurate data obtained. In inventory data collection, recording of incoming and outgoing goods still uses a manual process with excel which can result in duplicate data or duplicate data for processing inventory data. Based on this problem, the authors conducted a study entitled "Inventory Information System Stock Goods at PT. Berkatmas Mulia Guna ”which aims to make it easier to handle the stock inventory process, data entry and exit, delivery of goods, so that the inventory process of goods is faster and more precise. This application system development method uses the waterfall method which consists of six stages. The stages are System Analysis and Design, software requirements analysis, system design, coding, system testing and maintenance. In making this application using a desktop-based website programming language for the Windows operating system, and using the MySql database.

Purpose Most residential building owners often report problems associated with the plumbing systems. If identified at the early stages, plumbing-related defects can be easily repaired. However, if unnoticed for a long period of time, they could lead to major damages and incur a significant cost to repair. Despite the problems, studies investigating plumbing anomalies and their root causes in residential buildings are limited. This study aims to explore plumbing defects and their potential causes, diagnosis methods and repair techniques in residential buildings. Design/methodology/approach This research used data collected through an extensive survey of both academic and grey literature. Through the content analysis, plumbing defects and the associated causes have been identified and presented in tabular format. Findings The study investigated the anomalies and causes in the residential plumbing system under five key sub-systems: water supply system; sanitary plumbing system; roof drainage system; heating, ventilation, air conditioning and gas system; and swimming pool. Accordingly, some of the identified plumbing defects include leakages, corrosion, water penetration, slow drainage and cracks. Damaged pipes, faulty equipment and installations are some of the common causes of the anomalies. Visual inspection, hydrostatic pressure test, thermography, high-tech pipe cameras, infrared cameras, leak noise correlators and leak loggers are techniques used for diagnosing anomalies. Reactive, preventive, predictive and reliability-centred maintenance strategies are identified to control or prevent anomalies. Originality/value The findings of this research can be used as a useful tool or guideline for contractors, plumbers, facilities managers and building surveyors to identify and rectify plumbing system-related defects in residential buildings.

Therefore, repair shop service providers must improve their services in order to gain consumer trust for the services that have been provided. AHASS Bintang Alam Jaya is one of Honda's official repair shops in Bandung Regency. Astra Honda Authorized Service Station or AHASS is a motorcycle repair shop that offers engine maintenance, sells spare parts and official genuine Honda parts. AHASS Bintang Alam Jaya provides service standards in general, namely light service and heavy service with certified mechanics. AHASS Bintang Alam Jaya faced the problem of complaints from consumers who were submitted to the workshop after carrying out the service and the number of visitors who came to the AHASS workshop did not reach the monthly target set by the workshop (management). The phenomenon that occurs at the AHASS Bintang Alam Jaya workshop is the fluctuation of consumers who come to the workshop to service the motorbike. This study will use the Service Quality Method (SERVQUAL) to determine the level of customer satisfaction with the motorcycle service offered by AHASS Bintang Alam Jaya Workshop by categorizing each service using the TERRA dimension (Tangible, Empathy, Reliability, Responsiveness, Assurance). Based on the calculations, there are 12 services that must be repaired out of a total of 26 existing service attributes, namely waiting room facilities provided (availability of drinking water, helmet racks, TV, readings and information boards), availability of clean toilets, availability of wifi and air conditioning, friendliness and politeness of the workshop staff (smiling, greeting, greeting, polite, polite), Mechanics (Motorcycle Service Workforce) Explaining the maintenance or repairs to be carried out, Employees can explain the estimated service services and spare part prices, Fast service provided by the workshop staff in respond to existing complaints, Ease of contacting the workshop by telephone,Employees contact you after the service is complete,Employees are able to find out and repair damage in an appropriate manner,Results of workshop repairs or services are as promised by the workshop and according to customer expectations,Employees honestly provide information to consumer.
