Abstract:
The development of automotive technology is increasing rapidly along with the high level of competition among producers. According to data compiled by the Association of Indonesian Motorcycle Industry (AISI) in 2015-2016 there was an increase in the number of motorcycle sales of about 4.6% or an increase of 5.8 million units for. The high level of sales and technological developments leaving the problem for the automotive business itself. One of the problems that often happens is the slow absorption of technological progress to the hands of users. Motorcycle service workshops and bottom-line businesspeople are very vulnerable to the impact of this technology transfer process. This situation indirectly affects the sluggish economic movements among the bottom because they lack access (training and access to the latest sources of technology references). This situation should be a special concern for the top of the automotive business activists and also practitioners / academics related to the rapid development of technology produced can give impacts of rapid economic growth also for lower-level business people. The Up Grade skill program of motorcycle service involves a partner group (workshop) consisting of 6 people mechanics who are still in the beginner category. The training materials provided are tune up, conventional motorcycle overhaul (carburetor) and tune up injection motorcycle. Training is held for 2 full days (equivalent to 20 hours) with competency test process on the last day of the program. From the training activities can be seen the improvement of mechanical competence obtained from the pre-test at the beginning of the training and post test at the end of the activity.Through the program of Community Service of Regular Science and Technology is expected proposers can play its role as an academic in helping accelerate the process of technology transfer, especially for lower-level business people who do have limited access to technology. After the end of this program is expected to increase the mechanical skills as well as the increased service quality and competitiveness of partner workshops.

Abstract:
Case reports remain an important source of data in the debate over the carcinogenic effect of asbestos-containing automotive friction products. This report documents a case of pleural mesothelioma accompanied by asbestos bodies in the lung tissue of a career auto mechanic with no other known sources of exposure. Previously unreported historical and contemporary exposure data are also discussed in the context of providing additional support for the proposition that work with asbestos-containing automotive products presents a risk of significant exposure. While there remains a body of negative epidemiology that fails to find an increased risk of disease among auto workers, those data must be approached with caution. Many of those studies have drawn technical criticisms, which are beyond the scope of this report, but they remain a key part of the legal defense mounted by defendant-companies who are involved in asbestos-related litigation. This ongoing debate provides the context for the continued relevance of case reports such as this one, as well as the presentation of new and previously unpublished exposure data.

The need to increase the service life, efficiency and environmental friendliness of automotive engines leads to innovations in their maintenance and repair. Fuels are modified by mechanic-chemistry, hydrodynamic and acoustic cavitation, triboelectrization, and joint application of these methods. The most effective activators are described by Yu. V. Vorob’yov. (Research purpose) The research purpose is in summarizing the results of tests of activators by Yu. I. Vorobyov, identifying the features of their modification of motor fuels and outlining measures to ensure their stable operation in different internal combustion engines. (Materials and methods) The article presents the description of motor fuel activators under patents of the Russian Federation No. 2411074, 2550203, 2592801 and the results of their tests on KamAZ-740, ZMZ-406, YAMZ-236, UMZ-412 engines with fuels, with water-fuel emulsion, conducted at the Air Force Academy named after Professor N. E. Zhukovsky and Yu. A. Gagarin. (Results and discussion) Authors assumed from the analysis of the design of the activators by Yu. V. Vorobyov and the efficiency of their work, that their modification of fuels, rapeseed oil, alcohols and waters occurs first by mechanical-chemistry, then by cavitation, and finally by mechanical-chemistry. The effectiveness of the activator was confirmed by bench and operational tests to reduce fuel consumption by 21.3-31.9 percent, 80 pairs of chromatograms and chemmotology of modified liquids, the irreversibility and enhancement of fuel modification in storage, and other unusual properties of various activated liquids. (Conclusions) The effectiveness of the activator in increasing the caloric content of motor fuels by 26-30 percent and reducing their consumption by 21.3-31.9 percent is ensured by optimizing its design for different liquid consumption in it and anti-erosion materials. However, the activator requires resource and load tests on gasoline and diesel engines, testing for modification of oils and motor oils, tests at gas stations.

Abstract:
Abstract Driving is an intuitive task that requires skill, constant alertness and vigilance for unexpected events. The driving task also requires long concentration spans, focusing on the entire task for prolonged periods, and sophisticated negotiation skills with other road users including wild animals. Modern motor vehicles include an array of smart assistive and autonomous driving systems capable of subsuming some, most, or in limited cases, all of the driving task. Building these smart automotive systems requires software developers with highly technical software engineering skills, and now a lawyer’s in-depth knowledge of traffic legislation as well. This article presents an approach for deconstructing the complicated legalese of traffic law and representing its requirements and flow. Our approach (de)constructs road rules in legal terminology and specifies them in ‘structured English logic’ that is expressed as ‘Boolean logic’ for automation and ‘Lawmaps’ for visualization. We demonstrate an example using these tools leading to the construction and validation of a ‘Bayesian Network model’. We strongly believe these tools to be approachable by programmers and the general public, useful in development of Artificial Intelligence to underpin motor vehicle smart systems, and in validation to ensure these systems are considerate of the law when making decisions.

There are two important education systems. One is distance education and the other is skill development training. Distance education is an important education system provides education to the adult learners where ever they want and when ever they want. This type of distance education reaches to the door steps of the learners of masses with learner kits. The skill development training is nothing but providing training in different skills required for employable for example carpenter training, motor mechanic skill training, electrical technician skill training, computer operator skill training, construction worker skill training, beautician skill training, hair cutting skill training, hospitality and clinical heath care skill training etc;. According to Jain (2013), skill development is seen as a means to empower the individual and improve his/her employability. This paper discusses about importance of skill development and its impact on Indian GDP growth rate. Now days all the states are establishing skill development centres/skill development institutes in their own state to enhance the capability of skilled man power. The central government is also emphasizing on skill development to train the youth in different employable skills. The central government is providing a budget for skill development through Skill India initiative. In this paper, the role of IGNOU in distance education and skill development training has been discussed. The skill development training programme as a case study on electrical technician programme run by one of its school (School of Engineering and Technology) has been analyzed in the paper.

Abstract:
Robot technology has become an integral part of the automotive industry in several tasks such as material handling, welding, painting, and part assembly. Therefore, the knowledge and skills to control the electric motors in these manipulators are essential for undergraduate electrical engineering students. Currently, the digital signal processor (DSP) is the core chip in industrial motor-control drives; however, the implementation of DSP control algorithms can be quite challenging for an experienced programmer, even more so for the novice. Considerable research has been done on this topic, although authors usually focus on DSP-based motor drives using popular control techniques such as field-oriented control (FOC). Although highly efficient, this approach is usually reserved for postgraduate education due to its complex structure and functionality. In this paper, the authors present a modular servodrive design on a low-cost, general-purpose microcontroller using the direct torque control (DTC) method, an alternative known for greater simplicity and torque response, compared with FOC. The system design was based on Micropython language allowing the software structure to be more manageable and the code to be more understandable. This design will be useful to undergraduates and researchers with interests in motor control design.

Abstract:
The elderly group in Bantul Regency is about 8.4% of the total population. This number is quite significant and needs attention from the government because these elders are vulnerable. Physical weakness makes the elderly group experience vulnerability in terms of health. This situation was worsened by the low public awareness about health. The same condition also occurred in Sawahan Hamlet, Pendowoharjo, Sewon, Bantul. Accordingly, to overcome this condition, routine checks should be carried out. The government has provided adequate public health centers to maintain the health of the elderly in each sub-district. However, the patient load of each puskesmas and the distance to the puskesmas become undeniable obstacles, especially in the elderly group with decreased motor skills. For this reason, efforts were made to bring health checks closer to the community, especially the elderly, by encouraging people who have the ability to carry out routine health checks. The purpose of this community service program was to increase public awareness and knowledge, especially the elderly, of the importance of regular health checks. The methods applied in program implementation were tutorials as a medium of education and mentoring. The results showed that the elderly are more aware and willing to carry out regular and continuous examinations.

Summering in Asbury Park in 1908 enabled Alice Ramsey to hone her motor skills as she drove 6,000 miles of Monmouth County roads. She developed skills to care for and maintain the car, with few services available to her. Her winning performances in endurance runs on Long Island and between New York City and Philadelphia caught the eye of a Maxwell-Briscoe car promoter who invited her to undertake a sponsored trip across the country. When she crossed the country in 1909, only a tiny percentage of women drove; there were few formal roads and very little guidance on how to navigate. While she was known throughout her life as Mrs. John R. Ramsey and had two children, after her husband's death in 1933, Alice Ramsey, under cover of her married name and her identity as mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, lived for 50 years with women she loved. Her wealth, presumptive heterosexuality, and notoriety as an automotive pioneer led newspapers and magazines in the 1960s and 1970s to cover her unconventional life.

Manual screw assemblies rely on the fine-motor skills of workers to accurately position tools and workpieces. Such processes can be automated using a collaborative robotic system. To achieve this, the robot must flexibly react to a dynamic environment and be able to apply higher forces. This paper describes a method for automating force-controlled screw operations, and clarify the requirements on the automation of such tasks.

Copies of the full proceedings of Telematics Automotive 99 are available on loan from The Cundall Library.Globalisation of both markets and supply has been nowhere more obvious than in motor cars. These vehicles create not only the most free economic pipeline known to man but also a revolution in personal freedom. They are unlikely to go away; we have to find ways of living with them by coping with the environmental problems and the many forms of traffic problem: congestion, driving and support skills and car crime. In other areas, notably manufacturing and commerce, automation and advanced communications have enabled radical improvements in quality, productivity and environmental impact. This effect has yet to reach road transport in volume; the environmental and traffic problems are growing at least as fast as the populations of vehicles grow. The risk with such an important enabler as telematics is that it is seen as a plaything for gadget-minded users, rather than a key enabler for ongoing use of the car in the face of unrelenting pressures of congestion and environmental damage.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTThis article follows the careers of two African drivers in social environments that circumscribed their movement and access to technology. It begins with Vincent Njovu, whose memoir,The First Driver of Tanganyika, describes the driver's ability to navigate racial hierarchies of movement and technology, including the unlikely circumstances in which he fell in love with an ideal colonial machine. It then explores post-colonial cultures of gender and modernization by using the unpublished memoirs of Hawa Ramadhani, a woman who used automotive skills learned among nuns in the 1940s to become Tanzania's most respected driver. Paired together, the life histories of these drivers challenge historical narratives in which movement and technology (roads and motor vehicles, in particular) are used to discuss Africa's marginalization and decline. Instead, they show how transgressive practices of mobility can be used to challenge social and political orders and inspire new ways to think and act at uncertain historical junctures. Roads in these narratives are defined less by their danger than by their potential to turn unlikely individuals into heroes.

The purpose of this paper is to describe the techniques utilized in defining the causal factors of bicycle accidents. The author has reconstructed at least 200 bicycle accidents in the last 15 years, and our firm, Resource Engineering, has spent a good deal of manpower formulating the engineering dynamics involved in these accidents. In order to objectively reconstruct a bicycle accident, one must have a strong background in riding technique, bicycle mechanic skills, as well as the engineering background to describe the dynamics of the actual accident...A generalized view of the approach to investigating certain accident types will be given with examples from specific cases.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract Computational Human Body Models (HBMs) are important tools for predicting human biomechanical response under automotive crash environments. In many scenarios, the prediction of the occupant response will be improved by incorporating active muscle control to into the HBMs to generate biofidelic kinematics during different vehicle maneuvers. In this study, we have proposed an approach to develop an active muscle controller based on reinforcement learning (RL). The RL Muscle Activation Control (RL-MAC) approach is a shift from using traditional closed-loop feedback controllers which can mimic accurate active muscle behavior under a limited range of loading conditions for which the controller has been tuned. Conversely, the RL-MAC uses an iterative training approach to generate active muscle forces for desired joint motion and is analogous to how a child develops gross motor skills. In this study, the ability of a deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) RL controller to generate accurate human kinematics is demonstrated using a multibody model of the human arm. The arm model was trained to perform goal-directed elbow rotation by activating the responsible muscles, investigated using two recruitment schemes: as independent muscles or as antagonistic muscle groups. Simulations with the trained controller show that the arm can move to the target position in presence or absence of external applied loads. The RL-MAC trained under constant external loads was able to maintain the desired elbow joint angle under a simplified automotive impact scenario, implying the robustness of the motor control approach.

Abstract:
Surabaya is one of the metropolises in Indonesia, so many people flock to find work in Surabaya. However, there is an imbalance between the number of the workforce and the availability of jobs, so there are many unemployed people in Surabaya. The City Government and the Surabaya City Manpower Office are trying to reduce the number of unemployed people in Surabaya by organizing job skills training programs. The author takes the automotive field. The purpose of this research is to describe the excellent service of job skills training programs at the Surabaya City Manpower Office (Study on Automotive Job Training). The focus of this research consists of 4 indicators including 1) Attitude (attitude), 2) Attention (attention), 3) Action (action), and 4) Anticipation (anticipation). Data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the excellent service from the two automotive training courses had gone well, although there were still obstacles. It is known that the attitude concept in the two automotive field trainings has implemented the 5S attitude and runs according to the predetermined SOPs. The concept of attention, the two training in the automotive field are very different. Service providers and tutors in automotive training are more indifferent and assertive if automotive - motorbike training is fast and deft in solving problems. The second action of automotive training is also different, they have their own way if there is a community that does not understand the learning process. The anticipatory concept of the two training in the automotive field is in the form of complete automotive equipment and machines and is always replaced every year. One of the suggestions given is the provision of more varied material. Keyword : Excellent Service, Vocational Training, Automotive Training
