Full textThe recent transformations in the organization of work have upset the integration and job-retention processes of employees, especially women, who are increasingly confronted by forms of precarious, temporary and atypical work. And how does this translate to female executives, one of the highest socio-professional categories in the labour market? The aim of this thesis is to understand the subjective experiences of female executives regarding their integration, mobility and job retention processes. This research is based on a conceptual framework which integrates three theoretical perspectives to consider the female executives’ experiences. The methodology is based on a narrative research. As such, 51 individual interviews were conducted with female executives using a back-andforth process between the collection, processing and analysis of the material. The interviews were analyzed using a phenomenological examination of materials and conceptual categories to foster a deep understanding of their experiences. These analysis strategies helped to build a theorization process centred around the specific purpose and objectives of the research. Following the completion, processing and analysis of the individual interviews, three group interviews were conducted with the volunteer participants from the one-on-one interviews. These group interviews helped to further refine the theorization process. The results reveal the desire of several female executives to hold both their professional projects (supervision and management) with other life projects, such as family, personal and school projects. Throughout their professional life, female executives navigate through different areas of tension and conflict. They also experience significant tension between their professional, marital and family life. The processing and analysis of the material shows that many female executives seek to find their place in the labour market, a place where they can make a difference with their leadership role by making a human, social and financial contribution to an organization. As such, they seek a place that allows them to integrate several life projects at the same time while reducing the sacrifices necessary to do so, as well as a place where they can grow and be accomplished through their work. However, this place is not readily given them. Rather, for each of the female executives, this place must be created, defined, clarified and negotiated throughout their career path. As a consequence, they develop different work integration strategies as well as various strategies to maintain themselves in the executive sphere. Moreover, the opportunity to find this workplace depends greatly on the organizational and life contexts in which they find themselves and the social relationships they face. This in turn influences the work recognition dynamics and the construction of their identity. The analysis of this thesis highlights the different choices, renunciations and compromises made by v female executives in light of the strategies they mobilize to integrate themselves to their workplace and maintain their executive position. Finally, the female executives’ various pathways to emancipation through the work are identified and discussed.

Full textTraditionally based on an transmissible approach to knowledge and on their assumptive evaluation, the Japanese educational context is not, nevertheless hermetic in the non-conventional didactic approaches (Freinet, Montessori, Dewey)whose objective was the empowerment of the learners, or in the principles of the CECR. A more contemporary style, that advocates an actionoriented approach to the education favorable to the empowerment of the learners, to their elfassessment and to the evaluation of their skills more than their knowledge. This work is put in relation the processes of transmissible or education/learning and\or emporwerment, the evaluation and the culture of education/learning kept in mind. In this research I would like to highlight and help to understand the fundamental process of this relation. For that purpose, the hypothesis for a Autopoietic Mechanism of Coconstruction between the Empowerment and the (Self-)assessment (MARCAA, in french) was put to the test through observations (in 21 classes of 12 establishments) and representations on the autonomy and the evaluation of 21 teachers. As a result, the empowerment and the evaluation have a relation of coconstruction by the possibilities of choice and decisions which are given to the learner during their study

Full textThis activity clinic thesis focuses on the adaptation of information systems to work and addresses the issue of health at work. Information systems are becoming increasingly present everywhere. They often condition the organization of work, and when they are not suitable can hinder work. Redesigning these systems can therefore make it possible for the users to regain control of the situation, thus recovering their power to act.Our intervention in the PSA Group was intended to create such an opportunity. We had to depart from conventional methods in the designing of information systems, by setting up a discussion group of professional users and putting it at the heart of the project. In our analyses, we used an example to demonstrate how the development of action and of its meaning are related. Our research provides new evidence of the importance of empowerment in discussions concerning information system tools to ensure they are better suited to work. From a theoretical standpoint, by adopting the perspectives of historical and cultural psychology this research demonstrates the relationship between meaning and the power to act

Full textThis thesis studies the relationship between the trade union field and the political field in Turkey under the government of the Justice and Development Party (Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi, AKP) from 2002 to 2015. Joining the discussion around Pierre Bourdieu's field theory, it aims to understand how homologies between social fields are constructed and how fields are becoming autonomous. This research is primarily based on fieldwork that involves observation and nearly a hundred semi-structured interviews in the three labour union confederations (DİSK, Hak-İş, Türk-İş), conducted between December 2011 and April 2014. Under the AKP government, the transfers and alliances between trade unions and political parties enable their coherence. The intervention of the AKP government reinforces and accelerates these transfers, and transforms the trade union field. Thus, the correspondent of the dominant actor in the political field becomes the dominant actor in the trade union field. The influence of political cleavages on trade union strategies increases. Being for or against the AKP government becomes the main axis of union competition. These homologies do not yet happen in the same way at all scales. The local (sectorial and territorial), and even international dynamics generate a plurality of configurations. Autonomous spaces for resistance for trade unions emerge at the local level

Full textSeveral social programs have been implemented in developing countries with the aim of improving children's and women's well-being. Despite the existing evidence on the impact of these programs, there are still some knowledge gaps where this thesis aims to fill. First, programs such as Conditional Cash Transfers have been effective at increasing school attendance, but do not necessarily at achieving a large reduction on child labor. This thesis shows that the relative price of mothers and children labor is crucial to observe a reduction in child labor, due to the program. Children's working time is going to largely decrease in cases where mother's labor time is less expensive as compared to children's. Second, the evaluation of programs targeted to early childhood has been largely focused on nutrition, health, cognitive and non-cognitive skills, leaving aside parenting outcomes. Evidence found in this thesis shows that early childhood interventions impact parenting practices, particularly how children are disciplined. Parents of children who are largely exposed to these interventions use less physical violence as a way to discipline their children. Finally, women's empowerment plays a key role as an outcome and as a channel in the evaluation of these interventions. However, we lack information on how to approach and assess women's empowerment. This thesis shows that social capital seems to better capture women's bargaining power, as compared to traditional dimensions, such as participation in household decisions. This later analysis is done to understand the relation between women's empowerment and domestic violence

Full textAccording to several authors, women who are impacted by domestic violence face barriers in the labour market integration or for staying employed. This study tries to understand the obstacles that prevent them from developing their empowerment. Because we know little on the point of views of the workers of domestic violence services and those of employability services on the issue, their points of view are examined from the perspective of intersectional feminist theory. To lead well this research, we chose the qualitative, descriptive and exploratory methodology. Research findings have shown that the consequences of domestic violence affect the self-esteem, self-confidence, physical and mental health of victims. Thus, they would not be able to search work or to stay in employment. In addition, the results highlighted practices that promote women's economic empowerment. Among these, we have the creation of specific programs for abused women, granting of funds, awareness, collaboration, training, consultation, mutual orientation of victims between concerned services. However, practices affect women's economic empowerment. It revolves around: lack of collaboration between domestic violence resources and other victim support resources and social policies. The speech analysis identified gaps between the different points of view of the workers and the importance of the complementarity of domestic violence support services and employability services to allow the victims to be inserted on the job market.

Full textIntroduction: taking into account the particularities of learning in clinical environment, the evolution of scientific knowledge, the needs of 21st century students, the expectations of society, the empowerment of learning becomes a necessity. Goals: Mainly: to compare the quantitative results of the items and the overall scores of Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) by following the systemic approach tested, to the results of the conventional objective approach. Type and study quote: we opted in our study for the mixed approach (quantitative qualitative) and an explanatory sequential estimate. We start with the collection and analysis of quantitative data to follow up after the educational intervention with the collection and analysis of qualitative data. Population of the study: A number of 172 students participated in the first data collection (pretest), 162 students at the second data collection (post-test) and 12 students for the « Focus group ». Pedagogical intervention: the systematic approach (AS), inscribed in the socio-cognitive current, has been experimented. It is based on the principles of the competency-based approach. This approach imposes new pedagogical practices different from the conventional approach. Data collection tools: for the quantitative data collection tool, the MSLQ questionnaire, translated and validated according to Vallerand (89), was used for the collection of data before (pre-test) and after the pedagogical intervention (post-test). For the collection of qualitative data, the focus group interview method was conducted using a semi-structured interview guide. Data analysis methods: for the quantitative data, we used the software "Statistical Package for the Social Sciences", version 20.0, for the qualitative data we carried out a thematic analysis. Results: our study showed a female predominance, the average age is 21.2 standard deviations of 0.7. For the results of MSLQ except for the "test anxiety" scale, all results from the motivation section showed an improvement in the post-test. The overall mean score of the motivation is much better with AS. This score was of the order of 3.93 following the APO to reach a score of 4.94 following the AS. The students' comments confirmed the statistical results with the emergence of the sub-themes as: commitment, regulation identified the feeling of improvement of performances and results. For learning strategies, with the exception of the time and environmental management scale, the results showed an increase in all items and mean post-test scores. The sayings students have argued and confirmed the quantitative results through a judicious deepening especially reflection in action and action, clinical reasoning, mobilization of knowledge and recognition of the expertise of others. The overall score of the learning strategies was of the order of 4.11 in pre test to reach a score of 4.56 in post-test. MSLQ's overall score showed a favorable improvement for AS. It was 4.02 following the APO to evolve to 4.75 by adopting AS. Finally, the students' comments show that the current conventional APO, applied in the context of the CMA, poses pedagogical constraints to take charge of its own learning. Conclusion: The experienced systemic Learning model in the competency-based approach is likely to have a positive impact on both the Motivational Profile and Learning Strategies and on the empowerment of Learning

Full textThis research focuses on citizenship education and understanding the way it has been integrated into schools. It attempts to establish links between action and reflection, practices and underlying epistemological principles. The approach adopted for this research leads to the interrogation of the reality of this citizenship education within upper secondary schools. In particular, the question of its transposition but also of its construction and durability is posed, as well as the observation of choices made which tend, or not, to lead to effective citizenship education. This research first requires an investigative phase that is based on clarifying the concept of citizenship education and its theoretical references, then moves on to an analytical phase centered on the dialectical relationship between citizenship education’s epistemology and its transposition. The research aims thus to report on the concept of citizenship education and to study from a critical viewpoint several teaching techniques gathered in a limited sampling of establishments. Is citizenship education or civism practiced in scholarly establishments? What importance and what place should citizenship education hold in this particular institution that is School. How does “pragmatic transposition” linked to teaching constraints influence actors of this type of education? A second part of this research will focus on the tension existing between theoretical references, sifted through a clinical and sociological observation, as well as interviews with the actors, who are the vectors of this education, confronted with practitioners’ work. Finally, a study and analysis of the practitioners’ work will be lead in order to test actual teaching of citizenship education, in order to define perspectives for developing this new scholarly discipline

Full textLiterally "little sister working for a boss", the term dagongmei refers to the unskilled, unmarried, often coming from rural areas female labor force, migrating out of their villages, sometimes out of their province to find a job. The dagongmei represent a category of precarious workers easily interchangeable produced by China's economic development policies over the past four decades. Since the 1990s, the media coverage of scandals on working conditions of dagong subjects increased in China and internationally, calling on companies to rethink their social role. On the other hand, considering the socio-economic and political inequalities that determine the current paths of Chinese women, the government adopts a positioning that is resolutely in favor of women's empowerment. This thesis focuses on a group of young women from rural villages in Yunnan province who are employed in Kunming in a foreign-owned enterprise that defines itself as socially responsible and empowering its employees. If the project of modernity and globality of China has shaped new subjects-workers dagongmei and dagongzai, by the transformation of bodies of rural migrants into bodies of industrial workers, what subjects dagongmei a socially responsible enterprise project to contribute to produce? How can we think of the processes of individualisation within subaltern groups from a perspective that takes into account the gendered relations?

Full textThis dissertation studies favorable conditions to empowerment of pupils. The empirical study was carried out in the final year of kindergarten. In most learning/teaching situations, "autonomy moments" are structurally inevitable since the teacher cannot be systematically available to everyone all the time. Interest is focused on moments during which the teacher does not directly intervene, either because he/she is not available or because he/she voluntarily withdraws from the learning situation. We call these moments "low times" because of the teacher's low presence: during these specific moments, each student responds according to his own strengths without the teacher's direct intervention to regulate both learning and behavior. It appears that students are not naturally autonomous: when left unattended, the so-called "autonomous" learning activities contribute to widening the knowledge gap between students in learning situations. Autonomy would be part of this implicitly expected behavior and is "all the more expected and required from teachers rather than being constructed in, with and by school". How can student empowerment be perceived and operationalized in an ordinary class context? Our goal is to identify tools, levers, interactions and devices which enable students to benefit from "low times" for their own learning. The data are collected in 14 classes in 117 half-days of direct observation. Socio-constructivist approach to learning suggests that in order to construct new knowledge, the student must encounter an obstacle in the course of accomplishing his task. Learning results from overcoming this obstacle. We highlight differentiated behaviors of students when facing obstacles in autonomy classroom workshops: some resort to avoidance strategies and refuse to deal with this obstacle by bypassing or circumventing it. Conversely, others draw on (their own) resources in order to overcome it and construct new knowledge. During the study period, remarkable dynamics appear: some students, with usually an "avoidant" attitude, join or maintain a "drawing on resource conduct". The study of the "notable exceptions" leads to the emergence of the favorable conditions which fostered this particular dynamic in terms of tools, activities, interactions and devices. What would have worked to the benefit of the notable exceptions could be further used as a sustainable and pedagogical lever to the benefit of all students. These conditions become then supposedly favorable and are reinvested in experimental devices in order to see if they produce the expected effects, to which extent and within what limits? Il clearly appears that the empowerment process, in classroom context of a large and heterogeneous class, is developed in a special way in "low times" of pedagogical structuration and their articulation with "strong times", notably collective feedbacks on workshops. A pedagogy of "low times" entails providing the teacher with substantial pedagogical status, which would be a crucial step as well as an instrument in the school empowerment process. Such pedagogy would also entail carefully organizing teacher's intervention in an indirect mode, through a class device which would relay it through its various dispositions (tools, rules, activities, interactions). The student would then internalize these dispositions as psychological instruments in referring to oneself in the first person. This pedagogy would finally entail a redefinition of teacher's role: his/her apparent "absence" from the situation which would paradoxically become, a teaching-learning tool to the benefit of school empowerment

Full textLa problematic of this research is the professionalization, built up and experienced by directors of training centres of apprentices of building and public works (CFA-BTP), which is part of a national paritary system of vocational training coordinated by the French National Committee of Cooperation and Coordination of Apprenticeship in the Construction Sector, called CCCA-BTP. Principally, it is a matter of comprehension and interpretation of different situations of interaction and of interdependence which enable these subjects and actors to develop their capacities and to advance their professional attitudes. This is a qualitative research, based on the criteria like credibility, transferability, liability and confirmation of results of the analysis where the empirical corpus, composed of the outcomes of interviews with the CFA-BTP directors and of the documents describing the institutional prescription related to the professionalization process were put together, criss-crossed and interpreted. This work permitted to understand institutional intentions and their interpretations by the subjects and actors concerned and, finally, the achievements and use done with them. In terms of results, the author supports that the professionalization of the CFA-BTP directors is principally constructed on the unforeseen aspects of the situations and experiences, which these subjects and actors have to face at work. This enables them, simultaneously, to acquire new visions of their function and to achieve new missions and professional objectives, which are in a permanent transformation
