Abstract:
The goal of the thesis is to clarify a problem of what we call Teachers' authority. In Czech language the term "Authority" is usually used in the meaning of power or respect the teacher has among pupils. In general we can say that the meaning of the term is rather indefinite. This thesis mainly focuses on the form of communication between teacher and class. Therefore the authority is regarded as the result of organization of competencies, bounds and relations in the area of teacher-pupils contact. The teacher-pupil interaction is considered as a system in all the meanings of this term. Through the teacher-pupils' interaction the communication circle is formed. Every single connection of the class with a teacher creates a unique and compact communication circle where the communication rules are discussed. In this thesis, authority is rather regarded as the mutual negotiation resulting in the final (but still changing) organization of rules and relations within the communication circle. The thesis consists of presentation of the basic theoretical sources, the analysis of the field survey data and discussion about the conclusions. It explores the communication between teacher and class in the eighth class of elementary school. I visited one class - collaborating with three teachers - within one school-year....

Abstract:
The theoretical part of the thesis outlines the most important published aspects, which are involved in the development of problem behavior (misbehavior), and present different strategies, how to prevent or manage these situations. The empirical part describes all factors which can cause the problem behavior and depicts how teachers deal with such a behavior. In the research conducted at five secondary vocational schools, in nine classes, was used a method of video analysis of behavior (observation), an interview with teachers and a questionnaire for students. The research confirmed that there are many variables affecting the elimination of misbehavior - teacher's personality, her/his experiences, teaching methods, a subject, a composition and arrangement of a class, a number of students in a class. Respect, authority but also a positive attitude to a student is required in a relation between a student and a teacher. Communication between teachers and students should be clear and should have defined and adhered rules. As the fastest and the most effective strategy of managing misbehavior appears a non-verbal communication. From verbal strategies it is tactical to express teacher's attitudes and feelings to problematic student's behavior, to explain students, why they cannot behave that way, and to use humor...

Abstract:
This thesis analyses the normative behaviour of teachers at Czech universities offering German language as a field of study, focusing mainly on the normative authorities' behaviour within a given social network. The goal of this paper was to find out if and how the norm presented by university teachers differs from what is presented as a norm in the codices. The thesis is methodologically based on the model of the Social Power Field and the Language Management Theory. For data evaluation, further use was made of the so-called 'Follow-Up Interview'. Based on an analysis of selected language phenomena in authentic tests from several Czech universities, I examined how university teachers approach the correcting of tests and how they deal with deviations from the language norm found. Their behaviour was compared to the behaviour of other social groups that, according to the Social Power Field model, have an impact on the shaping of language norms by normative subjects. I also studied the accomplishment of the language management, focusing first and foremost on the significant phase of 'noting'. Further, I interviewed the normative authorities at the respective universities to find out the reasons for not correcting some of the phenomena according to the codification.
