Abstract:
Estudos sobre perdas e desperdícios de alimentos vêm aumentando no decorrer dos últimos anos, em consequência dos impactos econômicos, sociais e ambientais causados por essas avarias, que ocorrem desde a produção do alimento até o seu consumo final. Entretanto, a literatura distingue os termos “perdas” e “desperdícios” conforme o estágio em que a avaria ocorre na cadeia de suprimentos alimentar (CSA). Avarias que ocorrem no início de uma CSA, nos estágios de produção, pós-colheita e processamento são consideradas “perdas”, enquanto que avarias que ocorrem no final de uma CSA, nos estágios de distribuição e consumo, são consideradas “desperdícios”. Nesse contexto, este trabalho busca analisar através de dados secundários coletados da Organização das Nações Unidas para Alimentação e Agricultura (FAO), as porcentagens de avarias de alimentos ocorridas em diferentes grupos de países desenvolvidos e em desenvolvimento, identificando suas possíveis causas. Dentre os alimentos analisados, destacam-se os grãos e cereais, raízes e tubérculos, oleaginosas e leguminosas, frutas e vegetais, carnes, peixes e frutos do mar, e leite. Por fim, o estudo conclui que a quantidade de alimentos perdidos ou desperdiçados em regiões desenvolvidas e em desenvolvimentos são divergentes. Geralmente, regiões desenvolvidas desperdiçam mais alimentos, embora que regiões em desenvolvimento enfrentam desafios maiores no gerenciamento de perdas e desperdícios.

This academic work is characterized as a documental research, which aimed at mapping the evaluation instruments on autism, used in the diagnosis of this disorder and identify the purposes for their use. 64 articles referring to the topic have been selected in the data base PsycINFO, of the American Psychological Association (APA), from 1997 to 2001, which generated files with the data of the articles, samples and research characterization. The instruments found (N=31) have been analyzed in an isolated way or grouped by principles of construction. The results pointed out that Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS), Autistic Diagnostic Interview (ADI-R) and Autism Behavior Checklist (ABC) scales are the ones mostly used in the studies. The purposes of use were predominant over the improvement of the diagnosis in autism and the scales validation; the use rate of the instruments in interventions was low. Only the instruments Checklist of Autism in Toddlers (CHAT), Screening Tool for Autism in Two-Year-Olds (STAT), ?valuation des Comportaments Autistiques du Nourrisson (ECA-N) and Imitation Disorders Evaluation Scale (IDE-S) showed to be specific for the evaluation of children who are below 4 years of age; the others propose a wider age gap. The preponderant number of male subjects over female subjects has been confirmed. The age amplitude contained in these samples, as well as the diversity of other clinical disorders suggested some discussion about the stability of autistic traces and the necessity of improvement in the characterization of the disorder. The results determinate the need for more researches to be carried out in this area, especially in Brazil, in order to qualify the evaluative process, linking it to the intervention procedure, since this is the only way for the autistic individual to have all his/her educational and social needs met.
Este trabalho caracteriza-se como uma pesquisa documental bibliogr?fica cujo objetivo foi mapear instrumentos de avalia??o usados no diagn?stico de autismo e identificar suas finalidades de uso. Na base de dados PsycINFO, da American Psychological Association, foram selecionados 64 artigos referentes ao tema, no per?odo 1997-2001, que geraram fichas com dados de caracteriza??o dos artigos, das amostras e da pesquisa. Os instrumentos encontrados (N=31) foram analisados isoladamente ou agrupados por princ?pio de constru??o. Resultados apontaram a Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS), Autistic Diagnostic Interview Revised (ADI-R) e Autism Behavior Checklist (ABC) como as escalas mais utilizadas. Predominaram finalidades de uso dos instrumentos em pesquisas sobre o aprimoramento do diagn?stico em autismo e valida??o de escalas; o ?ndice de uso em interven??es foi baixo. Apenas os instrumentos Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (CHAT), Screening Tool for Autism in Two-Year-Olds (STAT), ?valuation des Comportaments Autistiques du Nourrisson (ECA-N) e Imitation Disorders Evaluation Scale (IDE-S) foram apontados como espec?ficos para avalia??o de crian?as com idade inferior a 4 anos; as outras prop?em maior abrang?ncia em rela??o ? idade. "Die dröge Trina" erzählt eine von F. E. Peters in hochdeutscher Sprache veröffentlichte Geschichte aus der "Baasdörper Krönk", der bedeutenden niederdeutschen Dorfchronik desselben Autors. Der Roman, 1946 erschienen, beschreibt, wie die Bauerntochter Trina Dührsen, raffgierige Anbeterin des "Taler-Gottes", durch ihre Habgier das Leben ihres Bruders und ihres Ehemannes zerstört und versucht, ihren Neffen Wilhelm um sein Erbe zu bringen. Der Roman findet dennoch ein versöhnliches Ende, als Trina inmitten der Inflation der Jahre 1922/1923 die Entwertung ihres Geldes und damit die Vergänglichkeit irdischer Güter erlebt, gleichzeitig aber menschliche Werte schätzen lernt . Der eigenwillige Untertitel "Geschichte einer Poahr Dangoaß" bezieht sich auf den Spitz- und Schimpfnamen Trinas, eine Verballhornung des französischen Begriffs "poire d’angoisse" (für das Folterinstrument der Mundbirne), der ihr in Anspielung an ihren schlechten Charakter und die schönen, aber wenig schmackhaften Birnen ihres Hofes, die "Gurgelschnürer", verliehen wurde. "Die dröge Trina" schildert mit freundlich-ironischer Empathie mentalitätsgeschichtlich aufschlussreiche Verhaltensweisen, Sitten und Bräuche der norddeutschen Provinz im Zeitalter der Industrialisierung. Berühmtheit hat die Beschreibung eines Schweinewiegens erlangt. Die dröge Trina ist 1945 als Fortsetzungsroman unter dem Titel "Trina Dührsen" in den Flensburger Nachrichten erschienen.

Na disciplina de Português, contexto especializado de ensino-aprendizagem de competências de literacia, ocupa um lugar de reconhecida importância a leitura de literatura. Por outro lado, as aprendizagens dos alunos, nesse e noutros domínios, deverão ser certificadas socialmente, e é nesse sentido que o sistema educativo português prevê a realização da avaliação sumativa externa, materializada em exames nacionais, no final do Ensino Secundário. Por conseguinte, afigura-se relevante investigar, neste trabalho, as provas de exame nacional de Português com a intenção de caracterizar as práticas avaliativas oficiais e de identificar os conhecimentos, capacidades e competências que, no âmbito do processo de ensino-aprendizagem da leitura de textos literários/literatura, o autor da prova pretende avaliar. Tomando como objeto de estudo dezassete provas de exame de Português, realizadas desde 1995/1996 até 2011/2012, fez-se uma análise documental, incidindo na(s) secção(ões) consagrada(s) à leitura literária, procurando explicitar os domínios de ensino-aprendizagem da língua portuguesa avaliados, os «objetos de leitura» selecionados para integrar as provas, as estruturas textuais sobre as quais incidem as perguntas, as operações de leitura solicitadas e os saberes requeridos pelos itens de escrita para explicitação de conhecimentos literários. Os resultados obtidos mostram, entre outros aspetos, que a leitura de textos literários/literatura ocupa um lugar realmente privilegiado na avaliação sumativa externa. Mostram, também, que os «objetos de leitura» preferidos são os textos poéticos, maioritariamente «textos integrais», de autores contemporâneos canonizados e recomendados pelos textos programáticos. E permitem também concluir que a escrita para explicitação de conhecimentos declarativos sobre conteúdos literários visa, essencialmente, avaliar os juízos críticos do aluno sobre textos/obras de autores do cânone estudados. Os resultados evidenciam, por fim, que a leitura literária é perspetivada como o ato de compreensão e (re)construção dos sentidos de um texto por um leitor ativo e competente, capaz de operar o preenchimento dos «vazios» do texto, fazendo inferências de alguma complexidade.
In the course of Portuguese, the specialized context of teaching-learning literacy skills, literature reading takes a place of recognized importance. On the other hand, the student’s apprenticeships, in that and other domains, must be socially certified, and it is in that direction that the portuguese educational system foresees the holding of an external summative evaluation, embodied in national exams at the end of High School. Consequently, in this work, investigation of the portuguese national exams seems relevant with the objective of characterize official evaluation practices and identify knowledge, capabilities, and competences that, in the ambit of the teaching-learning process of reading literary texts/literature, the author of the test intends to evaluate. Taking seventeen Portuguese exams performed from 1995/1996 to 2011/2012 into subject of study, a documental analysis was made, focused in the consecrated section(s) of literature reading, trying to make explicit the evaluated teaching-learning domains of the portuguese language, the picked “reading subjects” to be part of the tests, the text structures about which the questions are focused, the asked reading operations and requested knowledge for the items of writing explanation of literary knowledge. The achieved results show, among other aspects, that the reading of literary texts/literature takes a really privileged space in the external summative evaluation. They also show that the preferred “reading subjects” are the poetic texts, “full texts” mostly, from contemporary canonized and recommended for their programmatic texts authors. They also conclude that the writing explanation of declarative knowledge about literary themes essentially intends to evaluate the student’s critical judgments about texts/work of studied canon authors. The results show, lastly, that literary reading is viewed as an act of understanding and (re)building of a text meaning by an active and competent reader, capable of fill a text “blanks”, making somewhat complex inferences.

Abstract:
This study focuses on the investigation and deconstruction of the phenomena of the South African dystopian society, as reflected in the novels of Lauren Beukes and films by Neill Blomkamp. The characteristics and signifiers of a uniquely South African dystopian society are established and investigated through a posthuman lens. The theoretical framework of this study is principally concerned with the critical posthuman writings of Rosi Braidotti, Donna Haraway and, to a lesser extent, Cary Wolfe. Feminism and post-colonialism, and their influences on posthuman theory, are applied as the secondary theoretical framework, in this study. The study is practice led, with the study of the literature serving as mutually informative to the execution of a body of work centred on the dystopian theme. The paintings are intended to be metonyms for the wide range of manifestations of social decline evident in contemporary South African narratives.

Abstract:
La partie création de ce mémoire se veut soutenue par une tension narrative reliée à la curiosité suscitée par le personnage principal, de prime abord énigmatique, qui se dévoile de façon capricieuse par un changement constant de focalisation et de temporalité. Nathan vit à une ère où l’humanité a frôlé l’extinction, et où tout est à repenser après l’annihilation du virus ramenant les morts à la vie. N’ayant pas été témoin de ces horreurs, ses plus grandes préoccupations concernent son cheminement vers l’authenticité. Saltimbanque de métier, il voyage de communauté en communauté, où chacune a fait ses choix pour recréer le monde. Sa volonté de prôner l’art dans un processus de reconstruction sociale et sa poursuite d’une image perdue le pousseront toujours plus loin dans ses pérégrinations; vers des réalités qui le conduiront à redéfinir son univers. La partie essai s’interroge sur les procédés formant la tension narrative des romans d’Émile Ajar, pseudonyme laissant deviner la plume expérimentée de Romain Gary qui se réinvente dans l’anonymat. L’attention est centrée sur les jeux de narration, le rôle actanciel des personnages et l’orchestration formelle des récits, à savoir s’ils sont assez similaires pour lier les opus et les constituer en une série unifiée. Cette réflexion à la recherche de l’essence de l’oeuvre ajarienne, touchante par ses antihéros souvent démunis dans leur quête existentielle, a été une inspiration pour la rédaction de Le jour où la Terre en avait vu d’autres. Les rêves de Nathan sont racontés à la première personne, rejoignant certaines modalités ajariennes où la psyché des protagonistes se révèle par une narration au “je”. Les questionnements sur la tension narrative ont été déclencheurs de cette première démarche d’écriture romanesque, même si elle est située dans un cadre complètement autre et use d’une plume bien différente de celle d’Ajar.
The creative part of this Master’s thesis is based on curiosity about the main character, at first enigmatic, who is to be revealed in an unpredictable way with continuous focal and temporal changes. Nathan lives in an era in which humanity came close to extinction, and where everything is to be rethought after the annihilation of the virus that brings the dead back to life. As a saltimbanco, he travels from community to community, in which each one has made choices to recreate the world. His will to advocate art in the social reconstruction and his pursuit of a lost image will always drag him further in his peregrinations, towards realities that will lead him to redefine his universe. The essay part examines the literary techniques that create the narrative tension of novels authored by Émile Ajar, pseudonym of the accomplished writer, Romain Gary, who reinvents himself anonymously. The attention is centered on the narration, actantial roles of the characters and formal organization of the story, to ascertain if they are similar enough to link them in a unified series. This reflection searches for the essence of Ajar’s work which, along with the moving existential quests of the characters, have been an inspiration for writing Le jour où la Terre en avait vu d’autres. Nathan’s dreams are related in a first person narration, in accordance with some of Ajar’s modalities where the characters’ psyches reveal themselves through that perspective. The ponderings on the narrative tension have been the trigger for this first fiction writing experience, even though it takes place in a completely different setting.

Abstract:
L'émergence d'un « 'esprit' capitaliste » (Weber) en Angleterre et en France au tournant des XVIe-XVIIe siècles a favorisé la reconfiguration des rapports entre avaritia et cupiditas, qui déterminent tout le champ sémantique de l'usure et de l'intérêt. Cette thèse postule que cette évolution est sensible dans la comédie française et anglaise de l'époque, plus particulièrement chez les dramaturges qui ont marqué l'imaginaire collectif en mettant en scène des personnages avares. À partir d'un type comique issu à la fois du théâtre antique et du canon religieux bien établi dans l'Occident chrétien, l'appréhension nouvelle de l'argent comme objet et comme signe permet de construire une véritable figure moderne de l'avarice. Les protagonistes de chaque pièce, Shylock, Volpone (Mosca) et Harpagon, sont suspendus entre un or quasi divin, et l'univers plus ou moins connu de l'argent, medium en passe de devenir l'équivalent universel de tout bien, qu'ils pensent maîtriser grâce à leur trésor. S'ils s'intègrent parfaitement à la fluidité moderne des échanges économiques, culturels et sociaux, ils participent aussi à leur dévalorisation, par une activité et un discours proprement usuraires. Leur entourage tente de soumettre cette « labilité » des valeurs (Simmel) suscitée par l'économie de l'usurier-avare à un nouvel ordre, cosmique, éthique ou politique. Le conflit se résout devant la justice, instance discriminatoire externe et prétexte à la mise en abyme du jugement social. L'analyse des dénouements permet dès lors de comprendre le travail de chaque auteur sur la forme et la fonction de la comédie, à travers le texte, les genres, ou une esthétique de l'espace. Elle montre que chacun s'attache à valoriser l'apport de son art au public, dans une période de crise socio-économique.
The emergence of a capitalist ‘spirit’ (Weber) in England and France at the turn of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries played a leading role in reconfiguring the relation between avaritia and cupiditas which determine the whole semantic field of usury and interest. This thesis postulates that this evolution is perceptible in French and British comedy at that time, in particular for some of the playwrights who staged miserly characters imprinted in our collective imagination. Starting from a comic type as common in Greek and Roman drama as it was in the well-established religious canon in the Christian West, a new understanding of money as object and as sign leads to the construction of a truly modern figure of avarice. Shylock, Volpone (Mosca) and Harpagon, hang on to a almost divine idea of gold and the more or less known world of money, medium they think they control through their treasure, and which is about to become the universal equivalent of any good. Those characters fit perfectly into this modern dynamic of economic, cultural and social exchanges, but they also contribute, with their strictly usurious speech, to its depreciation. Their entourage tries to tame this « lability » of values (Simmel) generated by the economy of the usurer-miser to a new order – a cosmic, ethical or political order. Conflicts are resolved by a court of law, external discriminatory authority and pretext for the mise-en-abyme of social judgment. The analysis of these denouements allows one to understand the work of each author in the comic form and function, through the text, the genres, or an aesthetic of space. It shows how much each author strived to value the contribution of his art to the public, in a time of socio-economic crisis.

Abstract The last survivor of the New Poets, Cinna, died in the violent aftermath of Julius Caesar’s funeral. His cries of ‘I am Cinna the poet, I am Cinna the poet’ (according to Shakespeare’s version) were of no avail, and his death is emblem atic. Julius Caesar’s assassination in 44 ushered in the most murderous period of the Roman civil wars, and neither poets nor poetry were exempt. But despite the general chaos-or more accurately in direct response to it, and in an attempt to make sense of it-this period also witnessed a creative efflorescence in Roman literature such as had never been seen before. Some of the greatest poets in the Latin language began their careers in this, the darkest period of Roman history. In particular, the years immediately after the death of Caesar formed the context for the first major work by Publius Vergilius Maro (70-19 BCE: styled ‘Virgil’ by Christian commentators by association with the word ‘virgin’), the greatest of all Roman poets.

Simply put, tourism is about travel and its associated services. Yet, beyond its glittery appearance, at least sometimes, these services contain elements of domination and control of fellow humans, nature, and culture. Even innocent animals are not spared in the pursuit to making money. The extant literature on “dark tourism” barely addresses the darkness of tourist behavior derived from the nexus between human avarice and animal suffering. Sexual relations with animals has been documented for many centuries; yet, this exploitation as a touristic pursuit is relatively new. In this paper, conditions for the growth of this phenomenon and international regulatory responses are described and the structure and dynamics of the underground animal sex tourism industry are explored.

O crescimento no número de dispositivos móveis e a diversidade de interesse de desenvolvedores maliciosos. Como apps despertaram o consequência, usuários têm receio de instalar apps por causa dos riscos associados a segurança e privacidade. Atualmente, sistemas de recomendação vêm sendo utilizados para a escolha de apps. No entanto, a maioria das abordagens não avalia segurança e quando o faz leva em consideração apenas as permissões das apps. Nesse contexto, este trabalho apresenta um sistema que avalia as apps e sugere apenas aplicativos seguros para serem instalados, aumentando a confiabilidade das apps baixadas. Experimentos preliminares mostram resultados satisfatórios em comparação com trabalhos da literatura.

No âmbito de VLSI, essa tarefa se torna computacionalmente intensa e exige grande quantidade de memória. Este artigo avalia otimizações descritas na literatura que reduzem o consumo de tempo e memória do algoritmo, e propõe, de maneira construtiva, técnicas para a paralelização do mesmo. O resultado final apresentou speedup de 2, 25 com 2 threads e 3, 70 com 4 threads.

O conceito de Edifícios Inteligentes (Smart Buildings) centra-se em atender às necessidades do usuário e otimizar, através da tecnologia, o equilíbrio entre essas e o desempenho da edificação. Embora os sistemas de controle inteligentes tenham potencial significativo de impacto no desempenho dos edifícios, há escassez de estudos e aplicações em edifícios residenciais. Este estudo objetivou realizar revisão sistemática da literatura para mapear parâmetros relacionados ao desempenho de Smart Buildings residenciais e sua interconexão com necessidades do usuário, propondo fluxo de trabalho sistemático focado no desenvolvimento nesse domínio. A metodologia envolveu processo de categorização documental, utilizando critérios predefinidos para seleção dos estudos e construção de fluxograma estruturado. Concluiu-se que o conceito de desempenho se dá principalmente sob a perspectiva do consumo energético, prioritariamente nos sistemas de aquecimento, ventilação e ar-condicionado (AVAc) restritos, em sua maioria, à previsão da ocupação baseada em simulações e bases de dados variadas e segmentadas. O fluxograma desenvolvido abrange quatro etapas e propõe início a partir de categorização crítica sobre os aspectos que são influenciados pelo usuário para definir requisitos de desempenho baseados em dados estruturados. Estes requisitos, proporcionam desenvolvimento de equipamentos e soluções inteligentes, que aplicadas em edificações inteligentes, incentivam ciclo de melhoria contínua.

Este trabalho avalia modelagens de recompensas para o algoritmo de aprendizado usado por um framework multiagente para otimização combinatória. Esta avaliação consiste em seis cenários diferentes de modelagem de recompensas, aplicados a um conjunto de agentes idênticos construídos no framework, que implementam a metaheurística Iterated Local Search (ILS) para a solução do Problema de Roteamento de Veículos com Janelas de Tempo. Testes computacionais, aplicados a instâncias da literatura, mostram que os resultados obtidos para as diversas formas de recompensa são comparáveis quanto a qualidade dos valores de função objetivo alcançados, ao tempo de execução, e à velocidade de aprendizado frente a resultados já existentes na literatura. As conclusões mostram que é possível definir uma forma de aprendizado que seja autônoma quanto ao conhecimento do problema objeto de interesse e eficiente no que diz respeito a tempo computacional e velocidade de aprendizado.

Introdução: Os cuidados básicos e intensivos com a saúde do neonato têm importância fundamental para a redução da mortalidade neonatal observada em caninos que demonstra extrema fragilidade nesse período de vida. Nessa fase ocorrem diversas adaptações simultaneamente ao desenvolvimento de funções vitais que são fundamentais para assegurar a sobrevivência extrauterina. A assistência neonatal precoce é essencial para reduzir perdas, combatendo os pontos vulneráveis do neonato, nos quais consistem de termorregulação deficiente, risco de desidratação e de hipoglicemia, e imaturidade imunológica. Objetivos: Relatar sobre cuidados básicos e intensivos com neonato canino após o parto cirúrgico. Material e Métodos: O presente artigo trata-se de uma revisão de literatura, entre 2015 e 2021, ressalvo artigos históricos, sendo os mesmos em inglês e/ou português, das bases de dados veterinaryneonatology, PubVet, SciELO, utilizando para pesquisa as palavras: neonato, canino, parto. Resultados: A terapia intensiva no recém-nascido deve garantir o estabelecimento de suporte ventilatório, massagem cardíaca, manutenção circulatória, aquecimento, controle da glicemia e imunidade passiva. Os cuidados imediatos após o nascimento devem incluir limpeza e desobstrução das vias aéreas, com auxílio de compressa limpa e seca, simultaneamente à fricção do tórax para estimular a respiração. A secagem é importante para prevenção da hipotermia. Para tanto, o recém-nascido deve ser posicionado de forma segura em plano horizontal ou mantido apoiado sobre a palma da mão, fixando-se a cabeça com os dedos para evitar a movimentação craniana brusca. A massagem torácica deve ser feita por movimento de fricção na região torácica, evitando-se movimentos intensos do filhote. Se necessário, deve-se proceder a aspiração do conteúdo amniótico presente nos condutos nasais, por meio de bombas de sucção especializadas. Realizar a avaliação rotineira da viabilidade neonatal utilizando o escore Apgar onde se avalia as principais funções vitais do neonato deve-se observar também o peso ao nascimento que é um importante indicador de sobrevivência nessa espécie, em seguida deve-se realizar o aleitamento natural ou artificial e mantê-lo aquecido. Conclusão: Portanto, fica clara que a assistência neonatal precoce é essencial para reduzir a mortalidade e o manejo adequado da fêmea parturiente e seus filhotes é a principal medida de prevenção dos problemas neonatais.

Explora-se ainda o efeito da compacticidade dos dados e representação de informação essencial com a técnica de extração de atributos Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Esse artigo propõe e avalia uma contramedida para comedir o ataque de negação de serviço por conluio produtor-consumidor na arquitetura CCN chamada de Cache nFace. A contramedida proposta comede este ataque dividindo o cache de um nó em sub-caches. Cada sub-cache armazena somente os conteúdos solicitados através de uma interface de rede específica. Isso aumenta a robustez do cache sob ataque. São realizadas simulações para avaliar a proposta para diferentes topologias de rede e configurações do ataque. Os resultados mostram que o Cache nFace reduz em até 50% a eficiência do ataque e supera outra proposta encontrada na literatura em todos os cenários analisados.

This coronavirus was originally named the 2019 new coronavirus (2019-nCoV) by the World Health Organization (WHO) on January 12, 2020. The Coronavirus Working Group (CSG) of the WHO and Internati- onal Committee proposed to call the new virus SARS-CoV-2 on February 11, 2020. As a result of the samples taken from the patient, the whole genome sequence of the SARS-CoV-2 was isolated on January 7, 2020, by Chinese scientists in a short time. WHO announced on Febru- ary 11, 2020; that “COVID-19” will become the official name of the disease. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director of the WHO, said the epidemic meant “ko”, “corona”, “vi” for “virus” and “d” for “disease” as first described on December 31, 2019. Such a name has been preferred to avoid stigmatizing a particular region, animal species or human. The infection, which started to spread first in China and then in nearby countries, spread to most countries later on. The epidemic soon reached an international dimension, affecting the whole world. As a result, the WHO considered COVID-19 as an international public health problem and declared it as a pandemic on January 30, 2020. In humans, coronaviruses cause some cases of colds and respiratory infections that can be fatal, such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), and Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). In recent years, new viral infections have been detected periodically in various countries. The first epidemic; was observed in 2002-2003 as a result of the crossing of a new coronavirus from bat origin to humans through palm civet cats in Guangdong Province, China. This virus, called SARS, affected a total of 8422 people in China and caused 916 deaths (11% mortality, however different rates are given in different literatures). The second epidemic event occurred approximately 10 years later. In 2012, the MERS coronavirus (MERS-CoV) emerged from bat origin through a dromedary camel in Saudi Arabia. It affected a total of 2494 people and caused 858 deaths (mortality rate of 34%). WHO has declared it as a pandemic after the outbreak and scientists are doing great efforts to identify the characterization of the new coronavirus and to develop antiviral therapies and vaccines. Clinical studies and vaccination studies are still ongo- ing fastly. Also, the pathogenesis of the virus is still not fully known, and new studies are needed in this regard. Currently, effective infection control intervention is the only way to prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2. The most appropriate prophylactic regimen for patients under observa- tion due to COVID-19 related disease is unknown. For this reason, treatment protocols should be planned by following the current guidelines. This study consists of evaluating the opinions about the history of pandemics associated with COVID-19, related definitions and the projects being carried out with the compilation of avai- lable resources, the development stages of the pandemic and the projection of postpandemic interaction."
