Abstract:
A middle-aged man of average weight presented to the sleep medicine clinic for multiple episodes of nocturnal eating during night-time awakenings for the past several months. His symptoms were more characteristic of night eating syndrome rather than sleep-related eating disorder because of his recollection of the eating episodes and intake of edible substances during these episodes. He was treated with a low dose of sertraline with an initial improvement of symptoms followed by a relapse that was controlled with an increased dose. A year after initiation of therapy, his symptoms have resolved.

Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has been proved to be a promising technology that enables the transmission of higher data rate. Multicarrier Code-Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA) is a transmission technique which combines the advantages of both OFDM and Code-Division Multiplexing Access (CDMA), so as to allow high transmission rates over severe time-dispersive multi-path channels without the need of a complex receiver implementation. Also MC-CDMA exploits frequency diversity via the different subcarriers, and therefore allows the high code rates systems to achieve good Bit

This project was a step forward in improving the voltage profile of traditional low voltage distribution networks with high photovoltaic generation or high peak demand. As a practical and economical solution, the developed methods use a Dynamic Voltage Restorer or DVR, which is a series voltage compensator, for continuous and communication-less power quality enhancement. The placement of DVR in the network is optimised in order to minimise its power rating and cost. In addition, new approaches were developed for grid synchronisation and control of DVR which are integrated with the voltage qual

We pursue topics in optics that follow three major themes; time averaged dynamics with the associated Effective Hamiltonian theory, quantification and transformation of polarization, and periodicity within quantum circuits. Within the first theme, we develop a technique for finding the dynamical evolution in time of a time averaged density matrix. The result is an equation of evolution that includes an Effective Hamiltonian, as well as decoherence terms that sometimes manifest in a Lindblad-like form. We also apply the theory to examples of the AC Stark Shift and Three-Level Raman Transitions

That process is somewhat different for the average woman and the average man. Many men more or less tend to return to their pre-pregnancy level of sexual desire rather quickly. On the other hand, many women need much more time before having consolidated in their new role as mothers, simultaneously reconsidering their role as sexual partners. This report characterizes night sky conditions in Niobrara National Scenic River (NIOB) using measurements made in the park unit and models of regional conditions based on satellite data. Calibrated night sky imagery was obtained to characterize the night sky at 2 sites. These ground-based observations were collected on 2 nights from 2024-08-29 to 2024-08-30. Satellite data from 2022 was used to create a map of predicted night sky conditions in and around the park. The sky overhead remains pristine and unaffected by light pollution with an average zenith brightness of 21.62 mag/arcsec2. We est

Abstract:
The project objective was to more fully understand how the motion of pollen grains may be controlled by electrostatic forces, and to develop a reliable mechanized pollination system based upon sound electrostatic and aerodynamic principles. Theoretical and experimental analyses and computer simulation methods which investigated electrostatic aspects of natural pollen transfer by insects found that: a) actively flying honeybees accumulate ~ 23 pC average charge (93 pC max.) which elevates their bodies to ~ 47 V likely by triboelectrification, inducing ~ 10 fC of opposite charge onto nearby poll

In 2006 Congaree National Park (CONG), in conjunction with the Southeast Coast Network (SECN) Inventory and Monitoring Program, began collecting water-quality data at Cedar Creek as part the NPS Vital Signs Monitoring Program. The continuous-monitoring data station is located approximately one mile south of the visitor center and collects water temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, specific conductance, turbidity and water-level data every 30 minutes. This publication summarizes data collected from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012. The CONG fixed-station water-quality monitoring site is part

Abstract:
This study provides an in-depth analysis of poverty dynamics in the Philippines, focusing on the period from 2003 to 2009. Utilizing panel data from the Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) to examine transitions into and out of poverty, it pays special attention to the near-poor population—those whose incomes hover just above the poverty line. Despite the Philippines experiencing an average growth of 4.8 percent in real gross domestic product during this period, the overall poverty incidence remained stagnant, highlighting a disconnect between economic growth and poverty reduction.
