Abstract:
Eggs are an important source of animal protein for humans. However, their physico-chemical and nutritional characteristics vary across and within breeds. The aim of this study was to determine the physico-chemical and nutritional quality of 109 eggs from local guinea fowl (Numida Meleagris, L.) in Burkina Faso. For the that purpose, the following parameters were collected for each egg: egg weight albumen, yolk, and shell weights, egg length and width, pH, shape, and coloration of the shell and yolk. The physical parameter values analyzed showed that local guinea fowl lay small eggs with averag

This study aims to determine the effect of using Hermetia illucens maggot in feed on the internal and external quality of broiler eggs. The study used 80 laying hens aged 6 months which were divided into 4 treatments, 5 replications and each replication consisted of 4 tails. The variables observed were the external quality of eggs (egg weight, egg shape index, shell thickness, egg shell weight) and internal eggs (egg white index, yolk index, egg Haugh units, egg yolk color). The data obtained were analyzed with a completely randomized design. The average results of egg weight ranged from 56.18

The study investigated egg quality aspects such as astaxanthin concentration, E/Z-isomer ratio, and yolk color in laying hens fed with astaxanthin-containing diets. Dried Paracoccus carotinifaciens cell powder (Panaferd-AX) and fine cell powder (Panaferd-P) were used as sources of astaxanthin, with average particle diameters of approximately 100 μm and 10 μm, respectively. Paracoccus carotinifaciens contains valuable rare carotenoids such as adonirubin and adonixanthin, and thus the concentrations of these carotenoids in egg yolk were also evaluated. The purpose of the study was to investigate the potential of feeding laying hens with ground flax, a combination of flax cake and flax oil in the production of eggs enriched with omega-3 fatty acids. The experiment was set up using 192 laying hens divided into 4 groups: the control group; a group fed with flaxseed cake (10%) + flaxseed oil (2%); a group fed with 5% ground flax, and a group fed with 10% ground flax. Each group had 8 cages housing 6 laying hens, that is, a total of 48 laying hens per group. The Haugh unit values, fat content, Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) value

This research was conducted to identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) associated with egg-related traits by constructing a genetic linkage map based on single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers using restriction-site associated DNA sequencing (RAD-seq) in Japanese quail. A total of 138 F2 females were produced by full-sib mating of F1 birds derived from an intercross between a male of the large-sized strain with three females of the normal-sized strain. Eggs were investigated at two different stages: the beginning stage of egg-laying and at 12 weeks of age (second stage). Five eggs were ana

Abstract While suitable research has been done on the influence of climatic conditions on feeder cattle welfare, we have seen limited work done that assesses the relationship of hide color and cattle thermoregulation in response to extreme environmental changes, particularly of those seen at northern latitudes. Specifically, there is limited research on the effects of environmental stressors and cattle hide color on performance and intake. Therefore, the objective of this study is to evaluate feeder cattle performance in response to environmental conditions and hide color. Angus-based yearling

Alum, MgCl2, and mixtures of alum and MgCl2 have been used as coagulant to remove coloring matter in the reactive dye Levafix Brill Blue EBRA. The jar test was used to determine the effectiveness and the optimal condition of the coagulation process in terms of pH of the coagulation process, coagulant dosage, percentage color removal, and floc settling time. Coagulant dosages of 1,000-5,000 ppm were studied. The treatment of textile industry wastewater was done in the treatment plant of a printing mill. The results showed that coagulation by MgCl2 and alum occurs at the removal pH ranges of 10.
