In second language teaching a great deal of attention is paid to the learning of communicative skills. The computer program PRESTIGE (Productive and Receptive English, a Smart Tutor and Intelligent Generator of Exercises) subscribes to the views currently held in communicative language teaching. Among these are learning the meaning of a word through deduction of the word's meaning from contexts, and emphasizing the use of productive language. The computer program PRESTIGE, written in PROLOG, consists of several parts: A parser, which checks if syntax, spelling and inflection of pupils' input s

SPANLAP is a computer program which attempts to engage students of Spanish in a free-form written dialog by allowing them to ask questions. The program performs morphological, syntactic, and some semantic parsing of the student input, and either generates a response according to predetermined patterns or selects a response written by an instructor. Although unfinished, the program is functional, and demonstrates the feasibility of communicative programs for students of foreign languages.

On-Off Keying (OOK) is one of the most basic form of communication widely used today. The objective of this paper is to receive, detect and decode an OOK signal in the radio spectrum. For the reception of the radio signal, an SDR receiver is used. This device receives the RF signal and down-converts it to a frequency usable by an inbuilt ADC. The ADC outputs I/Q samples which are then forwarded to a computer via the USB port. By processing the received signal, it is determined whether or not, the received signal is an OOK signal and if it is, then it is further processed and decoded. There are

Operatorless Prolog text is LL(1) in nature and any standard LL parser generator tool can be used to parse it. However, the Prolog text that conforms to the ISO Prolog standard allows the definition of dynamic operators. Since Prolog operators can be defined at run-time, operator symbols are not present in the grammar rules of the language. Unless the parser generator allows for some flexibility in the specification of the grammar rules, it is very difficult to generate a parser for such text.
