Purpose: The Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized how we interact with our environment by allowing various devices to connect and communicate. In this paper, we propose the development of a multiple IoT device controller using Amazon Web Services (AWS), ESP32, and C# programming language. The proposed system will allow users to control and monitor multiple IoT devices simultaneously through a centralized platform. The ESP32, a low-cost wifi module, will interface with the IoT devices and transmit data to the AWS IoT Core. The C# programming language will be used to

Abstract:
This report summarises key institutional lessons that emerged from a Learning Journey commissioned by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) for its Covid-19 Responses for Equity (CORE) programme. Learning Journeys are a research method developed by the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) to support collaborative scoping processes and provide participants with structured spaces to learn, discuss issues, and to reflect on their day-to-day work and how to apply learning. CORE was designed as a rapid response mechanism to address the sudden global shifts caused by the Covid-19 pa

Abstract:
This field and laboratory guide describes the field and laboratory methods used to characterize blue carbon in seagrass meadows. It was developed for the Caribbean Carbon Accounting in Seagrass project and describes the protocols and methods used by the network. In brief, at each project site, seagrass abundance, species composition, canopy height, and sediment type were assessed at sixteen 0.25 m2 quadrats placed at random locations within the site. Eight 20 cm diameter cores were taken to assess seagrass biomass, shoot density, and to provide the material for assessing seagrass carbon and nu

Abstract:
The objective of this effort was to demonstrate in the field the new wettability altering technology developed in the laboratory during Phase 1. Reservoir cores from three gas storage facilities including sandstone and dolomite reservoirs were used to evaluate the two surfactants. The imbibition and core flood tests showed that gas deliverability was improved in surfactant-treated sandstone cores. It was concluded that the aquifer storage facilities are candidates for field testing. Results from Phase I provided the foundation for this Phase II project. The Waverly Storage Facility operated by

Abstract:
In War-Algorithm Accountability (August 2016), we introduce a new concept—war algorithms—that elevates algorithmically-derived “choices” and “decisions” to a, and perhaps the, central concern regarding technical autonomy in war. We thereby aim to shed light on and recast the discussion regarding “autonomous weapon systems” (AWS). We define “war algorithm” as any algorithm that is expressed in computer code, that is effectuated through a constructed system, and that is capable of operating in relation to armed conflict. In introducing this concept, our foundational technological concern is the

Abstract:
This literature review focuses on community hub models that include an education setting. The goals of these hubs go beyond improving academic outcomes, and look also to the health and wellbeing of their community. This review explores the ways in which education communities operate as welcoming and enriching places that connect, share, and learn with, not only students, families, and educators, but also their wider community. It focuses on a specific model of school-community partnership, typically known as a school community hub. Core features of community hubs are presented as people, partn
