Abstract:

In this report, we conduct study on codon composition and codon usage of DPV glycoprotein B (gB) gene, its homologs constitute the most highly conserved family of herpesvirus glycoproteins and are present in members of each herpesvirus subfamily. Our results show that sixty-one codons (excluding the termination codons) in the polypeptide, a high level of diversity in codon usage bias existed for coding the Ala, Gly, Leu, Pro, Arg, Ser, Thr and Val amino acids. Sixteen codons (each for a amino acid), including GCA (Ala), GAT (Asp), GAA (Glu), GGA (Gly), CAT (His), ATA (Ile), AAA (Lys), CTA (Leu), AAT (Asn), CCA (Pro), CAA (Gln), AGA (Arg), TCT (Ser), ACT (Thr), GTA (Val) and TAT (Tyr) were determined as the translationally optimal codons. The codon preferences of DPV gB gene were compared with those of E. coli, yeast, and H. sapiens, we can speculate that the DPV gB gene may be more efﬁciently expressed in the E. coli system. In summary, knowledge of codon usage of herpesvirus gB genes provides insights into molecular and species evolution, and also plays important role in furthering some biotechnological applications. These would be fruitful areas for further study.

Abstract:

The article explores the issue of unity of a continuous act referred to in Art. 12 para 1 of the Criminal Code. The author considers whether and (if so) to what extent it is permissible for the adjudicating court to transform separate, concurrent offenses (as listed in the indictment) into one - supplemented by an element of continuity - continuous act of Art. 12 para 1 CC. According to the thesis advanced in the article, such a transformation should be considered admissible as long as the attributed offence does not encompass any additional behavior not expressly listed in the indictment, occurring chronologically before the first behavior of the indictment, after the last one, or between them.

Abstract:

Ana Cristina Cesar is one of the great poets of the 1970s and 80s in Brazil. In this paper, some of her poems are analyzed in the perspective of how her lyrical narrative presents an interactive dialogue with the reader and criticizes modernity. Ana Cristina Cesar's poetic work privileges critical-reflexive language, the theme of identity, alterity, lyrical memory, poetic synthesis, and questioning, as marks of modernity. The word-memory is the essential factor that moves the aspirations and feelings of poetic self, because at the moment of reminiscing, the self recollects, in depth, the events and experiences previously experienced. The word is a force that drives the Word Artist to realize dreams, goals, and achievements. Through the poetic word, the poem develops the continuous transmutation of language, generating new possibilities of being and effecting poetic procedures through the lyrical genres, centered in the articulations of the poetic creation. The poetic craft is essentially of creating oneself, thus poetry being also self-creation, knowledge, and transmutation.

Ana Mendieta fue una de las más prolíficas y consagradas mujeres artistas cubano-americanas del siglo XX. La influencia de Mendieta en generaciones posteriores de artistas es innegable, y un creciente número de autores reconoce tanto su relevancia en la historia del arte feminista cubano y norteamericano. Sin embargo, casi nada se ha escrito sobre cómo es representada en la literatura, y cómo esas reconstrucciones literarias abordan algunas de las cuestiones sin resolver que todavía persisten en relación a la artista, su obra, su relación con Cuba, su vida personal y su trágica muerte. Este ensayo pretende abordar esa falta a través de una discusión de textos de escritoras cubanas, cubano-americanas y canadienses.

Abstract:

Osteosarcoma is a malignant primary tumor of the bone, which is considered rare in birds. This report describes an osteoblastic osteosarcoma in a scarlet macaw (Ara macao), which was apathetic with progressive weight loss, and had a tumor in the distal portion of the femur and proximal tibiotarsus with ulcerated pododermatitis in the contralateral limb. Euthanasia was elected due to poor diagnosis after radiographic and cytological examination. Histopathology and immunohistochemistry were performed and confirmed the diagnosis of an osteoblastic osteosarcoma with hepatic and pulmonary metastases.

On April 2016, Ana Tostões interviewed Professor José-Augusto França, the Portuguese modern art researcher of reference on the contemporary era, in order to discuss the key modern structure that made the shift towards a Modern Lisbon. José-Augusto França (b. 1922, Tomar) is historian, sociologist and critic of art. He has a graduation in Historical and Philosophical Sciences (1944, Faculty of Letters, University of Lisbon), a PhD in History (1962, Paris-Sorbonne University, Une Ville des Lumères: la Lisbonne de Pombal), a diploma on Sociology of the Art (1963, L'Art et la Société Portugaise au XXè siècle) and a PhD in Letters (1969, Paris-Sorbonne University, Le Romantisme au Portugal). He is professor emeritus of the Nova University of Lisbon, where he created the first Art History masters of the country (1976). He was Director of the Portuguese Cultural Center of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Paris (1983), President of the National Academy of Fine Arts (1985) and member of the UNESCO Comité du Patrimoine Mondial. He is a reference author in the field of visual and cultural arts in Portugal, being the first one identifying and presenting modern architecture in Portugal in his Arte em Portugal no Século XX (1974). Among his works stand out studies on art in Portugal in the 19th and 20th centuries, as several volumes of essays on historical, sociological and aesthetic reflection on contemporary art issues. He has received the Medal of Honor of the City of Lisbon (1992), the Grand Officer (1991) and the Grand Cross (2006) of the Infante D. Henrique Order and the Grand Cross of the Order of Public Instruction (1992).

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has prompted numerous gender and sexuality controversies. We describe and analyze those involving assisted reproductive technologies (ART). ART in the United States has been regulated in piecemeal fashion, with oversight primarily by individual states. While leaving state authority largely intact, the ACA federalized key practices by establishing essential health benefits (EHBs) that regulate insurance markets and prohibit insurance-coverage denials based on pre-existing conditions. Whatever their intentions, the ACA’s drafters thus put infertility in a subtly provocative new light clinically, financially, normatively, politically, and culturally. With particular attention to normative and political dynamics embedded in plausible regulatory trajectories, we review—and attempt topreview—the ACA’s effects on infertility-related delivery of health services, on ART utilization, and on reproductive medicine as a factor in American society.

Abstract:

Ani ölüm nedenleri arasında en önemli grubu kardiyovasküler kaynaklı ölümler oluşturmaktadır (%90). Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’nde her yıl 300.000 ile 400.000 arasında ölüm, kayıtlara ani kalp ölümü olarak geçmektedir. Ani kalp ölümlerinin büyük bölümünü koroner arter kaynaklı ölümler oluşturmakta olup, bu grup içerisinde aterosklerotik koroner arter hastalıkları ilk sırada yer almaktadır. Bununla birlikte koroner arter anomalilerinin daha önce kalp hastalığı öyküsü olmayan gençlerde, özellikle egzersiz sırasmda ani ölümlere yol açabildiği bilinmektedir. Koroner arterlerde izlenen morfolojik anormallikler, klinik olarak önem taşımayan minör değişikliklerden, hayatı tehdit eden major anomalilere dek değişen geniş bir Spektrum oluşturmaktadır. Bu anomaliler arasmdan yalnızca bazı alt gruplar ani ölüm nedeni olabilmektedir. Koroner arter anomalileri ile ilgili en ciddi risk taşıyanlar, bir ya da her iki ana koronerin sağ sinüsten kaynaklandığı ve arterin aorta ile pulmoner arter arasmdan geçtiği tablolardır. Bu çalışmada; daha önce herhangi bir semptom ya da bulgunun tanımlanmadığı, 21 yaşında, egzersiz sonrası ani olarak ölen olgu değerlendirilmiştir. Sol ana koroner arterin sağ aortik sinüsten kaynaklandığı saptanan olguda, sol ana koroner arter, aort ve pulmoner arter arasmdan geçerek interventriküler sulkusa girmektedir. Ani kalp ölümü açısından yüksek risk taşıyan bu koroner arter anomalisine ait morfolojik ve patolojik özellikler, olguya ait bulgular ışığında yeniden ele alınmaktadır.Anahtar kelimeler: Koroner arter anomalisi, ani kalp ölümü, otopsi

Abstract:

AIDS Drug Assistance Programs, enacted through the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency Act of 1990, are the “payer of last resort” for prescription medications for lower income, uninsured, or underinsured people living with HIV/AIDS. ADAPs face declining funding from the federal government. State funding of ADAP is discretionary, but some states increased their contributions to meet the gap in funding. The demand for ADAP support is increasing as people living with HIV are living longer; the antiretroviral therapy (ART) guidelines have been changed to recommend initiation of treatment for all; the United States is increasing HIV testing goals; and the recession continues. In the setting of increased demand and limited funding, ADAPs are employing cost containment measures. Since 2010, emergency federal funds have bailed out ADAP, but these are not sustainable. In the coming years, providers and policy makers associated with HIV care will need to navigate the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Lessons learned from the challenges associated with providing sustainable access to ART for vulnerable populations through ADAP should inform upcoming decisions about how to ensure delivery of ART during and after the implementation of the ACA.

AbstrakMotif tenun songket Silungkang yang ada pada sehelai kain dahulu sangat kaya dengan motif-motif yang mempunyai nilai-nilai estetika yan tinggi dan membutuhkan proses penciptaan dan pembuatan yang panjang dan lama. Sekarang motif yang ada cendrung berbentuk praktis dan sederhana, tidak memakai banyak motif, motifnya sudah dimodifikasi sesederhana mungkin. Pada waktu sekarang unsur-unsur yang dibuat cendrung berdasarkan nilai-nilai estetika semata yang mengarah kepada fungsi dekoratif, hanya sebagai hiasan saja. Kadang kala sipemakai perlengkapan pakaian adat tidak bisa menjelaskan makna-makna filosofis apa yang terkandung didalamnya. Ada juga sipemesan pakaian adat tersebut menyerahkan sepenuhnya kepada sipenenun soal motif apa yang akan digunakan pada perlengkapan pakaian adat. Di daerah Silungkang, masyarakat perajin tenun songket untuk keperluan pakaian adat hanya memproduksi kalau ada yang memesan saja. Sehubungan dengan ini, lebih jauh seni kerajinan tenun songket bisa diamati menurut fungsi suatu karya seni. Feldman (1967: 3), menjelaskan bahwa fungsi-fungsi seni yang sudah berlangsung sejak zaman dahulu, adalah untuk memuaskan: (1) Kebutuhan-kebutuhan individu kita tentang ekspresi pribadi, (2) Kebutuhan-kebutuhan sosial kita untuk keperluan display, perayaan dan komunikasi, serta (3) Kebutuhan-kebutuhan fisik kita mengenai barang-barang dan bangunan yang bermanfaat. Lebih jauh, dalam pengertian luas, Felmand membagi fungsi seni menjadi tiga bagian, yaitu: Fungsi personal (perseonal function of art), fungsi sosial (the social function of art), dan fungsi fisik (physical function of art). Untuk mempelajari masalah-masalah yang berkaitan dengan perkembangan fungsi seni kerajinan tenun songket silungkang sumatra Barat, digunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Metode penelitian kualitatif ini menuntut sebanyak mungkin kepada penelitinya untuk melakukan sendiri kegiatan penelitian di lapangan (sebagai tangan pertama yang mengalami langsung di lapangan), sehingga si peneliti akan lebih mengerti dengan apa yang ditelitinya, dan juga dapat menambah wawasannya lebih jauh lagi atau lebih mendalam tentang apa yang diteliti. . Kata Kunci: seni, kerajinan, tenun, songket, silungkang.AbstractSilungkang’s songket weaving motif on a piece of cloth was very rich with motifs that had high aesthetic values and needed a long and long process of creation and manufacture. Now the existing motifs are in the form of practical and simple, not using many motifs, the motives have been modified as simple as possible. At present the elements that are made tend to be based on mere aesthetic values that lead to decorative functions, only as decoration. Sometimes people who wear traditional clothing can not explain what philosophical meanings are contained in it. There are also orders for traditional clothing that fully surrender to the weavers about what motifs will be used on traditional clothing. In the Silungkang area, people who produce songket weaving for custom clothing only produce it if someone orders it. In connection with this, furthermore the art of songket weaving can be observed according to the function of a work of art. Feldman (1967: 3), explained that the functions of art that had been going on since ancient times were to satisfy: (1) Our individual needs regarding personal expression, (2) Our social needs for display, celebration and communication, and (3) Our physical needs regarding useful goods and buildings. Furthermore, in a broad sense, Felmand divides the function of art into three parts, namely: (perseonal function of art), (the social function of art), and (physical function of art). To study the problems related to the development of the function of West Sumatran silungkang songket weaving craft, qualitative research methods were used. This qualitative research method requires as many researchers as possible to conduct their own research activities in the field (as first hand experience directly in the field), so that the researcher will better understand what he is researching, and can also add further insight or more depth about what her research. In February 2018, Ana Tostões interviewed David Brownlee, pioneer researcher on Louis I. Kahn and an historian of modern architecture and professor of the history of art at the University of Pennsylvania, in order to debate Kahn’s realm of ideas and their contemporary significance. David Brownlee was guest curator of the exhibition Louis I. Kahn: In the Realm of Architecture (Museum of Modern Art, New York, 1992), and is co-author of the homonymous book (with David G. De Long, New York, 1991, translated into four other languages) that stands as the first worldwide comprehensive publication on Louis I. Kahn.

Rumah Kalang di Jalan Mondorakan Kotagede merupakan rumah tradisional Jawa yang dibangun dan dimiliki oleh orang Jawa, dan mengadopsi unsur-unsur arsitektural dari arsitektur art nouveau dan art deco. Tidak ada pakem atau aturan-aturan tertentu yang mengatur tentang arsitektur rumah kalang. Rumah kalang mencerminkan rumah Jawa dilihat dari aspek spasial, bentuk atap, serta beberapa ragam hias ornamen khas Jawa. Pengaruh art nouveau dan art deco ditunjukkan dari ornamen yang bertema dan merupakan hasil stilasi dari flora dan fauna yang berbeda dengan ragam hias pada rumah tradisional Jawa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi unsur-unsur arsitektural pada bangunan rumah kalang dan mengetahui faktor-faktor apa saja yang mempengaruhi perbedaan dan kesamaan pengolahan unsur-unsur arsitektural yang ada di Rumah Kalang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif melalui kasus studi di lapangan dengan analisa melalui cara kualitatif. Metode pengambilan data melalui observasi langsung, wawancara, dan dokumentasi serta didukung dengan studi literatur. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan dan kesamaan unsur-unsur arsitektural pada rumah kalang yang ada sekarang dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor seperti sosial-ekonomi (profesi) pemilik, sejarah, fungsi dan kegiatan di dalamnya dari dulu hingga sekarang, serta kondisi site (luas site, bentuk site, posisi terhadap jalur sirkulasi). Melalui hasil penelitian ini diharapkan mampu mendukung upaya pelestarian bangunan rumah kalang sebagai salah satu warisan budaya khas Indonesia khususnya Kotagede.

Abstract:

According to the WWF, forests cover 30% of the earth’s surface and act as important support systems in balancing the world ecosystem (World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) n.d.). They are home to many plant and animal species and a critical source for sustaining human livelihood. Human dependency on forest products is the backbone of not only the survival of a nuclear family but also contributes to the economy of the local community. As known, Malaysian forests consist of mountainous forests, tropical rainforest, swamps and coastal forests. As for traditional Malay society, they relied heavily on forests for survival. Besides its functioning as a source of food, forests also contribute to the cultural aspects of society in the Malay civilisation. Hence, this study will analyse the image and description of the Malay forests based on the writing of British officers and writers during the colonial era such as Maxwell, Clifford, Swettenham, Fauconnier, Endicott, Winstedt, Skeat, Wilkinson and Annandale. By using a narrative approach and auto-ethnography, views of the Malay forest will be assessed from Western perspectives, which are based predominantly on the observations of British-Malaya colonial officers and Western scholars involved directly in the Malay community and their communal activities at the time. In summary, this writing will depict the worldview of the Malays about their forests, physically and spiritually, through the lens of Westerners.

Prenant l’oeuvre d’Ana Mendieta pour objet d’étude, cet article se penche sur la notion d’exil en tant que ruine. Le rapport est posé par les termes d’invisibilité et de visibilité comme dialectique d’une réflexion qui portera d’abord sur l’ensemble de son oeuvre. Ici redéfinie comme art de la perte et du reste, son oeuvre sera ensuite ramenée vers son origine, c’est-à-dire vers la pièce singulière qui l’a préfigurée puisque cette pièce a situé le corps de l’artiste en relation directe avec la ruine architecturale. De l’imaginaire de l’effacement et de la disparition que celle-ci détermine aux enjeux de la Vanité qu’elle permet de repenser, « l’autoportrait dans les ruines » ouvre alors la question d’une double tentation de la ruine, romantique et érotique. Mais, tandis que la pensée du tragique s’y révèle par l’apparition d’une ruine littérale qui ne reviendra plus dans l’oeuvre de Mendieta, la conclusion amène à poser l’antithèse que cet autoportrait forme avec l’imagerie contemporaine, où la prolifération de la ruine comme spectacle active différemment la notion d’absence et de mort dont cet article fait sujet.

ObjectivesTo review the evidence for the efficacy and safety of biological agents in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) to provide data to develop treatment recommendations by the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) Task Force.MethodsMedline, Embase and Cochrane databases were searched for relevant articles on infliximab (IFX), etanercept (ETN), adalimumab (ADA), certolizumab-pegol (CZP), golimumab (GLM), anakinra (ANA), abatacept (ABT), rituximab (RTX) and tocilizumab (TCZ) published between 1962 and February 2009; published abstracts from the 2007–2008 American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and EULAR conference were obtained.Results87 articles and 40 abstracts were identified. In methotrexate (MTX) naïve patients, biological therapy with IFX, ETN, ADA, GLM or ABT has been shown to improve clinical outcomes (level of evidence 1B). In MTX/other synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) failures all nine biological agents confer benefit (1B), with lower efficacy noted for ANA. RTX, ABT, TCZ and GLM demonstrate efficacy in tumour necrosis factor inhibitor (TNFi) failures (1B). Less evidence exists for switching between IFX, ETN and ADA (3B). Biological and MTX combination therapy is more efficacious than a biological agent alone (1B). A safety review shows no increased malignancy risk compared with conventional DMARDs (3B). TNFi are generally associated with an increased risk of serious bacterial infection, particularly within the first 6 months of treatment initiation; increased tuberculosis (TB) rates with TNFi are highest with the monoclonal antibodies (3B).ConclusionsThere is good evidence for the efficacy of biological agents in patients with RA. Safety data confirm an increased risk of bacterial infection and TB with TNFi compared with conventional DMARDs.

Perjalanan panjang gagasan pendidikan kesenian yang sudah dilakukan Dewantara, sampai sekarang ternyata belum dapat membuat pendidikan tersebut mampu menarik perhatian para pengembang kurikulum pendidikan di Indonesia. Diawali dengan nama pendidikan kesenian, kemudian menjadi pendidikan seni, kerajinan tangan dan kesenian, saat ini dengan nama Seni budaya dan ketrampilan, yang ruang lingkupnya terdiri dari seni musik, tari, rupa/lukis, dan teater. Dari riwayat kurikulum pendidikan kesenian ini, dapat diketahui bahwa sebenarnya Indonesia belum dapat memunculkan ide pendidikan kesenian yang dapat menyentuh aspek cipta, rasa, karsa itu yang bagaimana, dan pendidikan musik yang dapat memenuhi standar kompetensi itu yang seperti apa. Hal-hal semacam inilah yang belum dapat dirumuskan oleh para pengembang pendidikan khususnya seni, baik di tingkat pusat maupun di tingkat daerah. Oleh sebab itu, gagasan tentang kesenian khususnya musik dari Dewantara dapat dijadikan acuan sekaligus pedoman dalam mengembangkan pendidikan seni, kesenian atau seni budaya di Indonesia, karena kedudukan kesenian di dalam kebudayaan di seluruh dunia selalu terpakai sebagai ukuran untuk menetapkan rendah tingginya kebudayaan dari sesuatu bangsa. Banyak pendapat bahwa kebudayaan adalah kesenian dan kesenian adalah kebudayaan. Kesenian salah satu bagian terpenting dari kebudayaan. Menghargai keluhuran bangsa adalah dengan mempelajari keseniannya, karena ada kesenian ada penghormatan, tidak ada kesenian tidak ada penghargaan terhadap suatu bangsa. The long journey of the idea of art education that has been done by Dewantara, until now apparently has not been able to make the education able to attract the attention of curriculum developers in Indonesia. Beginning with the name of art education, then became art education, handicraft and art, currently under the name Art culture and skills, the scope of which consists of music, dance, visual / painting, and theater. From the history of this art education curriculum, it can be seen that in fact Indonesia has not been able to come up with an idea of art education that can touch the aspects of creativity, taste, what initiative, and music education that can meet such competency standards. Things like this that have not been able to be formulated by educational developers, especially art, both at the central and regional levels. Therefore, the idea of art, especially music from Dewantara can be used as a reference as well as a guideline in developing arts education, arts or cultural arts in Indonesia, because the position of art in cultures around the world is always used as a measure to determine the low or high culture of a nation. Many opinions that culture is art and art is culture. Art is one of the most important parts of culture. Respecting the nobility of a nation is to study its art, because there is art there is respect, there is no art there is no appreciation for a nation.Keywords: ideas, art, music

Artykuł stanowi analizę rozstrzygnięcia Sądu Apelacyjnego w Białymstoku z 22.6.2015 r. (sygn. akt II AKa 70/15) oraz jego uzasadnienia w przedmiocie ustalania zamiaru sprawcy zbrodni zabójstwa, a także odpowiedniej kwalifikacji prawnej czynu zabronionego. Autorka krytykuje stanowisko sądu, który pomimo licznych wątpliwości rozstrzygnął na niekorzyść sprawcy dopuszczającego się, w jego ocenie, zbrodni zabójstwa, podczas gdy analiza stanu faktycznego wskazywała na realizację znamion przestępstwa stypizowanego w art. 156 § 3 Kodeksu karnego. Krytyce zostało poddane także dokonanie rozstrzygnięcia wyłącznie w oparciu o okoliczności przedmiotowe zdarzenia, jak również uzasadnianie strony woluntatywnej istnieniem strony intelektualnej. Jednocześnie autorka akcentuje podobieństwo zachodzące pomiędzy stroną intelektualną zamiaru ewentualnego oraz stroną intelektualną świadomej nieumyślności.

Az avatatlan szem egy kiválóan formált, részletes, domborművek sokaságát felvonultató, páratlan műalkotást lát, azonban a történettudomány és a különböző társtudományok ezen apró részletekből az Augustus-kor kiváló lenyomatát tudják nyújtani. Az Ara Pacis reliefj einek részletgazdagsága miatt mind a római politikatörténet, mind a vallás- és eszmetörténet kutatásának kiváló forrása. Jelen tanulmány elsődleges célja állást foglalni az ikonográﬁai sajátosságok és a szakirodalom segítségével abban a kérdésben, hogy ki a panel főalakja.Ara Pacis Augustae is the most frequently studied work of art in the ancient Roman history of art. The uninitiated eye sees an exquisitely crafted, detailed, multitude of reliefs, a unique work of art, but history and diﬀerent collaborative sciences can render an excellent imprint of Augustus era from these tiny details. Owing to the Ara Pacis’ chiselled reliefs, it is an excellent source for political history, history of religion, and ideology. The aim of this study is to take sides in the question of who is the main ﬁgure of the panel by dint of the iconographic features and recent literature.
