Abstract:
BA System (Building Automation System) is an important intelligentized subsystem of Intelligent Building, also known as the groundwork of intelligent integration. It is the integration of multi-subsystems, which aims at automatic device management, efficiently saves energy and reduces use-cost. What is outstanding out of all effort for saving energy in modere Intelligent Building are both supervision and control of air-conditioner system. Now BA System comprises the basic components, here they are: central station, sub-station, spot meters, Control Network.According to survey, there are few stable BA System for long, without regard to amount of those existence. It results directly in massive equipments and related investment suspended. The thing is gone for little. The thesis illuminates functions and components of BA System thoroughly, gives further details of key technique---Control Network and System Integration, and predicts trend of this system. Based on the analysis mentioned along whith my experence, the procedure, principles and key point of BA System design and device choice are given; further more, embodies methods through illustrating real project for better utilization of BA System. In the end a conclusion and forecast of BA System are put forward.

Abstract:
<p>Xu (2012) stated that teachers' beliefs are more influential than teachers' knowledge on determining their teaching activities, so effective teacher beliefs about learners are of importance, and are considered as integral components of effective teaching. In other words, teachers' beliefs influence teacher consciousness, teaching attitude, teaching methods, teaching policy, and also strongly influence teaching behavior and learner development (Xu, 2012). With such an importance in teachers' beliefs and attitudes, this study tried to explore the teachers' attitudes towards the effectiveness of reading metacognitive strategies which are used by high school students. To do so, 91 teachers holding BA and MA degrees were chosen as the participants of study. They all had an experience of teaching English at different high schools of three Cities in Iran. These participants were asked to complete 34 item thesis questionnaire which investigated the teachers' attitudes toward the effectiveness of reading metacognitive strategy use. The results of statistical analysis indicated that although teachers holding MA and BA degrees had the same attitudes about pre-reading metacognitive strategies, they had significantly different attitudes about reading and post-reading metacognitive strategies.</p>

It analyzes the content of the chapter of preliminary guidelines Tsongkhapa's writing, and preambular part of Tsongkhapa's authorial commentary to “Mūlamadhyamakakārikā”, referred to as the “introductory part” of the “Ocean of Reasoning”. The research is based on the materials translated by the author from the Tibetan language, which is the first ever translation of the original text into the Russian language. Analysis of the works of  Tsongkhapa allows concluding that it is the fundamental logical-analytical research of the “Nāgārjuna's Mūlamadhyamakakārikā” carried out in Indo-Tibetan scholastic tradition, with attraction of multiple Buddhist primary sources – Sutras and Shastras, including basic Indian commentaries to Nāgārjuna's thesis, written by the ancient Indian philosophers Buddhapalita, Bhāviveka, and Candrakīrti. This text is an important source for introducing into the modern philosophical discourse of the doctrine of Madhyamaka School, represented particularly by the Tibetan Prāsaṅgika interpreters through Je Tsongkhapa.

Abstract:
When I first launched QAR in 1984, I really didn’t think much about its long-term future. I simply wanted to produce a series which would cater for the publication of Queensland-based archaeological research, and especially the substantive material that so often became locked up in theses and reports, seldom to see wider publication. But now that Volume 10 is on my desk I have come to realise that it has served this purpose quite well over the years. The only disappointment to come from my association with this journal is that it is no longer issued annually. As most subscribers will know, the decision to issue the journal occasionally after Volume 9 was forced upon me by a single and very simple fact – a dip in the submission of manuscripts over the past few years. This phenomenon was unexpected as it flew in the face of a steady increase of submissions since the 1984 launch. Furthermore, the slump continues despite numerous pleas and much cajoling of potential contributors, especially among the ranks of recent archaeology graduates with smoking-hot thesis results. Some such individuals of my acquaintance argued that they wanted to publish less substantive overviews in international journals before committing themselves to what they perceived as the ‘boring’ task of preparing descriptive manuscripts concerning the substance of the archaeological record. While some of these have achieved the first goal, few have yet published details of their research. One or two even gained employment on the strength of their international publications – and good for them! Others had very good intentions but never got around to writing anything for publication while a few, having gained their Honours BA degrees after a year of anxiety, were simply not interested in what they perceived as prolonging the agony and subsequently sloped off into the hills of obscurity beyond academe. Whatever the reason, the result is that QAR, a journal designed as a vehicle for site reports and other more descriptive and substantive information, has become occasional rather than annual.I regard this matter of non-publication of substantive data, especially from theses, as a fairly serious issue in our discipline in Australia and cite several reasons why I regard it so. First, there is the problem of accessibility of theses. There was a time, some twenty or so years ago, when the archaeological community was so small and homogeneous that we had little trouble in keeping track of important Ph.D. and Honours BA research results. Furthermore, it was relatively easy and inexpensive to access the few theses being produced by our universities each year. It was simply a matter of contacting the authors and asking for a copy of their thesis, or at least permission to photocopy it. Today, this is no longer the case. As more and more theses are produced each year in line with the growth and diversification of our discipline, it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep abreast of this new knowledge in the traditional way. Furthermore, as the years pass and individuals for various reasons drop out of the archaeological community, it becomes increasingly difficult to track them down.Second, while most of us realise that theses (and especially 4th-year BA theses) are usually far from perfect in terms of scholarship, organisation, and written expression, they often contain a considerable body of descriptive and quantitative information which is valuable for comparative research purposes. Unfortunately, journal editors normally want to publish general articles and do not accept a great deal of substantive data. Despite the sometimes highly touted interpretive conclusions of theses, when all is said and done, it is the descriptive information which forms the basis of such interpretations and it is this information which remains to be reinterpreted by future researchers. If it remains locked up in theses we as a community of scholars run the risk of missing out on valuable data. It is far better for the archaeological community that such information be published in a more accessible (and more scholarly) form.Thirdly, I raise a moral issue which was first brought to my attention many years ago while taking an introductory archaeology subject from Professor Jesse D. Jennings at the University of Utah. Jennings spent a considerable portion of one lecture to inform we incipient archaeologists of our obligations to the discipline. Of several points made, the one which particularly stuck in my mind was the obligation we have to the scientific community to present all our field and laboratory findings in a published form as soon as possible. Indeed, he was such a stickler on this point that before formal postgraduate degrees were awarded in archaeology, substantive material deriving from field-based thesis research had to be published. While not proposing that such a tough measure be taken in Australian universities, I do think that we should take appropriate steps to ensure that budding archaeologists (and some mature ones also) are reminded of this obligation to their discipline. The ways in which this can be accomplished are several and so obvious that I shall not take time to point them out here. Suffice it to say that, in my opinion, this obligation which has tended to be overlooked by many in the drive to publish in international journals, should be openly stressed more often.Turning now to this 10th anniversary volume, we celebrate the occasion by charging subscribers only $10 ($1 for each year of the series). This is made possible in part by a change to a new printing firm which has significantly reduced production costs and in part by the growth of a small surplus in our budget over the past few years. I also take this opportunity to heartily thank the members of the QAR Editorial Board and others who have been involved in the refereeing process and who have contributed in numerous other ways over the years.I end this piece with an invitation to all those with sites excavated but unpublished to send in your site reports, be they strictly Queensland-oriented or otherwise. I for my part pledge to attend to all submitted manuscripts without delay, so that they may be refereed and published as quickly as possible.Jay Hall – Editor

Abstract:
The contemporary persecution of Burma’s Rohingya has rapidly evolved from isolated episodes of communal violence into a global humanitarian crisis. The article analyses the evolution of the recent violence in Rakhine State from 2012 to the present. Specifically, I argue that Buddhist nationalist monks, including members of the ‘969’ Movement and Ma Ba Tha, in concert with the Burmese government, have acted as authoritative voices in society, depicting the Rohingya ethno-religious group as an existential threat to the country’s majority Buddhist population. As such, hate-filled rhetoric has provided a politically unstable Burmese regime with an ideological justification for human rights abuses committed in Rakhine State. This phenomenon is analysed through Barry Buzan and Ole Waever’s securitization thesis as a means of better understanding the discursive relationship among Buddhist nationalist monks, the Burmese government and the Burmese Buddhists. Ontologically, this article focuses on anti-Rohingya discourse and major episodes of violence in western Burma’s Rakhine State from 2012 to 2018. As a discursive process, securitization has not merely amplified Islamophobia within Burma, but significantly endangers future generations of Rohingya civilians.

Abstract:
Abstract This article investigates how to find connections between dance education and the development of life skills for the 21st century by interpreting students’ experiences of daring in dance. The article draws on a section of my PhD thesis that focuses on BA students’ lived experiences in modern and contemporary dance. The project is informed by hermeneutic phenomenology, and the material consists of eleven students log books and interviews. One of the main themes in the material is daring in dance, which is connected to a transformative learning process. In this article I dig more deeply into the embodied dimension of such learning process and discuss how the result of this process can be interpreted as developing life skills for the 21st century. The analysis shows that becoming a professional dancer is a vulnerable process, encompassing both fear of failure and learning to trust one’s own competencies. Several of these competencies point toward skills recognised as important to learning in the 21st century, such as flexibility, problem solving, self-direction and social skills. By focusing on everyday embodied experiences of daring in dance, this research provides one example of the development of life skills in higher education based in empirical research.

Abstract:
The social role of social worker: its shaping and acting in Erving Goffman’s dramaturgical perspective The subject of the work is shaping and playing the social role of a social worker in the dramaturgical perspective of Erving Goffman. The article is based on the author’s own research carried out for the purposes of the BA thesis. A qualitative method was used, namely an in-depth interview and participant observation. The aim of the article is to describe and explain how the social role of a social worker is shaped and played in the light of Erving Goffman’s dramatic concept on the basis of research carried out at the Municipal Social Welfare Center. Social workers and students of social work participated in the study. The main hypotheses adopted in this work are the assumptions that the social role of a social worker is shaped and played by participation in performances with a defined interactive order, and that each of the performances contains a defined interactive order to which certain, constant elements are subordinated. The collected data was analyzed using the Atlas.ti qualitative analysis software. The research shows that social workers shape and play their social role by preparing in the backstage and during performances on stages, which are: studies, internships and professional work both in the center and in the field.

Abstract:
Arambam Saroj Nalini was born in Imphal, in the then princely state of Manipur, on June 2nd 1933. Her father was a well-known and respected educationalist and government officer. During the war years he was posted to Jiribam, where she received her first education, and later transferred to a convent school in Haflong. She proceeded to Calcutta University, where she became the first Meetei woman to obtain BA and MA degrees, majoring in Philosophy. While in Calcutta she enjoyed close friendship with Christian Naga students, and converted to Christianity. She was baptised at the Lower Circular Road Baptist church, whose minister, Walter Corlett had himself served in Imphal during the war years. The Christian faith was to become a dominant influence on her future life. She came to Britain in the late 1950s to study theology, and obtained a Bachelor of Divinity degree from London University in 1961. Shortly after she married John Parratt. When their desire to work in India was frustrated they decided to work elsewhere in the developing world, initially in Nigeria, where Saroj became a tutor in philosophy at the University of Ile-Ife. When her husband was offered a research fellowship by the Australian National University she enrolled for a PhD in the Department of Asian Studies there, under the supervision of the eminent indologist A.L.Basham. Despite the frequent absences of her husband on field work in Papua-New Guinea and having to care for three young children, the bulk of the thesis was completed before she returned to Manipur for further extended field work in 1972. The doctorate was awarded three years later, one of her examiners being Professor Suniti Kumar Chatterji, who (unusually for the time) himself had a deep interest in India's north-eastern region. Her thesis was published in 1980 (Firma KLM, Calcutta) as The Religion of Manipur. It marked the beginning of a new phase in writing on Manipur by its rigorous application of critical methodology both in the collection and in the analysis of field data, and had considerable influence on younger Meetei scholars.

Martin Stannard is Professor of Modern English Literature at the University of Leicester. He read for his first degree in English at Warwick (1967-70), before taking an MA at Sussex University, and a DPhil at Oxford. Professor Stannard’s two-volume literary biography of Evelyn Waugh (1986, 1992), and his biography of Muriel Spark (2009) are essential reading for Waugh and Spark scholars, and are each studies in the value of historical contextualisation for appreciating the literary oeuvre of a writer. Stannard’s 1995 Norton Critical Edition of Ford Madox Ford’s modernist novel, The Good Soldier, similarly brings context to bear through his rigorous textual editing, annotation and critical apparatus. Stannard is currently the Principal Investigator for the Complete Works of Evelyn Waugh project, which is supported by a grant of £822,000 from the AHRC, and which will see Oxford University Press publish 43 scholarly edition volumes of Waugh – the first of which appears next year. This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of Waugh’s death.Dr Barbara Cooke also teaches at the School of English at the University of Leicester. She received a BA and MA from Warwick (dates), and a PhD in Creative and Critical writing from the University of East Anglia for her interdisciplinary thesis Oil Men: the Twinned Lives of Arnold Wilson and Morris Young. Abstract:
Interleukin 3 (IL-3) or granulocyte macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) activates c-fos, c-jun, and c-myc genes and proliferation in both hematopoietic and nonhematopoietic cells. Using a series of deletion mutants of the beta subunit of human GM-CSF receptor (hGMR) and inhibitors of tyrosine kinase, two distinct signaling pathways, one for activation of c-fos and c-jun genes, and the other for cell proliferation and activation of c-myc gene have been elucidated. In contrast to wealth of information on the pathway leading to activation of c-fos/c-jun genes, knowledge of the latter is scanty. To clarify the mechanisms of activation of c-myc gene by cytokines, we established a transient transfection assay in mouse proB cell line BA/F3 cells expressing hGMR. Analyses of hGMR beta subunit mutants revealed two cytoplasmic regions involved in activation of the c-myc promoter, one is essential and the other is dispensable but enhances the activity. These regions are located at the membrane proximal and the distal regions covering amino acid positions 455-544 and 544-589, respectively. Characterization of cis-acting regulatory elements of the c-myc gene showed that the region containing the P2 promoter initiation site is sufficient to mediate the response to mIL-3 or hGM-CSF. Electrophoretic mobility shift assay using an oligonucleotide corresponding to the distal putative E2F binding site revealed that p107/E2F complex, the negative regulator of E2F, decreased, and free E2F increased after mIL-3 stimulation. These results support the thesis that mIL-3 or hGM-CSF regulates the c-myc promoter by altering composition of the E2F complexes at E2F binding site.

Bevec, Eva. "Developing a User-focused Standardised Design System for Prescription Medicine Packaging in Slovenia." International Journal of Pharmacy Practice 29, Supplement_1 (2021): i45. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/ijpp/riab015.055.

Abstract:
Abstract Introduction In my thesis I am exploring the role of pharmaceutical packaging design in relation to the user. This topic is becoming increasingly relevant as the number of issued prescriptions in Slovenia is rising every year, treatment with prescription medicine is experienced by almost everyone. Medicine packaging must therefore provide essential information effectively and efficiently. Aim The purpose of this thesis is to improve current heterogeneous conditions by developing a standardized design system for all prescription drugs by taking into account users’ needs at each stage of the process. The final goal is a simpler and more effective use of products for everyone involved. Methods Research was conducted in three stages. In the first stage, the existing condition in packaging design was analysed: information hierarchy/arrangement on 8 significant manufacturers’ products considering 1 - the type of information and 2 - different user groups. Second stage consisted of conducting surveys with 2 focus groups representing two main user groups who use the packaging differently - medicine consumers and healthcare professionals.(1) Consumer focus group consisted of 81 participants, recruited randomly from various age groups (age 10 to 89). They were asked closed-ended questions. Healthcare professionals focus group consisted of 5 pharmacists with extensive experience. They were asked open-ended questions. The collected data from both research stages was statistically and qualitatively analysed in order to define the main problems with medicine packaging design and use. Identified problems were then addressed through the design process. The third stage included development of a standardised design system in accordance with information design theory and cognitive psychology findings.(2) These helped establish the system building blocks/rules: information hierarchy and organization, use of colour, shape and typography. Results Analysis of existing conditions clearly exposed the heterogeneity and unsuitability of the majority of medicine packaging design. These caused similar problems to both user groups: trouble finding information (73 %), lack/redundancy of information (47 %/17 %), illegible, unreadable typography (39 %), distracting visual elements (26 %), unclear distinction between medicines (17 %). These lead to various consequences: incorrect route of administration (39 %), consuming/prescribing expired (30 %) or incorrect product (8 %), time loss (8 %). Each of these problems was addressed through establishment of new, highly precise rules in packaging design: regulating hierarchy and typography, introducing visual categorization through symbols and illustrations (information category, pharmaceutical form, ATC group) and color-coding medicine strength. The rules form a standardised system which provides unity, consistency and quality regulation, improving the everyday experience of many people. Conclusion The research was carried out as a part of a BA thesis. The execution of the project would require a change in the legislation on state level. It therefore serves as a speculative proposal, aiming to raise questions that are currently not being addressed properly within the industry. The possibility of implementation could be recognized through gradual transformation of individual rules/building blocks of the system into new state regulations or guidelines. Discussion with the industry and the profession has not yet been carried out due to the Covid-19 crisis. References 1. Heinio RL, RUSKO E, Van der Waarde K. Abstract:
Using the installation “Breakthrough” as an example, the article examines the widespread in the United States assessments and methods of memorializing the results of the Cold War. The authors note that the thesis of a US victory in the Cold War was central to official US political rhetoric in the early 1990s. This is confirmed by the politics of memory — in particular, the creation of the installation “Breakthrough”, the establishment of the commemorative medal “Cold War Victory Medal”, etc. The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 is considered the most symbolic event of the end of the Cold War. One of the fragments of this wall is called “The Breakthrough”, it is now in Westminster College in Fulton (Missouri), where W. Churchill in 1946 pronounced his famous speech and where (in a symbolic sense) the Cold War began. Installation “Breakthrough”, being a symbol of the beginning and end of ideological confrontation, carries a certain ideological message — it is a “breakthrough to freedom” and victory in the “cold war”. However, by the early 2000s, when passions subsided in society and wider access to not only American, but also Soviet archival documents was opened up, more ba-lanced assessments of the causes and results of the Cold War began to appear in American scientific circles. Some American historians started talking about the common victory of the USA and the USSR over the ideological confrontation, which could develop into a dangerous “hot war.” Globalization also influenced the perception of the outcome of the Cold War: this confrontation is assessed by some American researchers as a natural stage in the development of international relations, which led to a new redistribution of centers of influence on the map of the “multipolar” world.

Abstract:
Emic and etic are the terms taken from linguistics, but they have become widespread in other fields of humanities, especially anthropology. According to the most general definition, emic approach implies studying behaviours in culture according to its internal categories, whereas etic approach uses external, objective points of reference for this purpose. From the time the concept was created in the 1950s, numerous researchers from different fields have tried to adapt and redefine these two terms so as to use them in their work. The present article attempts to apply both emic and etic approaches within one coherent analytical method. It presents its theoretical fundamentals and proposes a list of six elements that an emic-etic analysis should include. The article focuses on the use of the concept of emics and etics in the theory of music, but the suggested method may also be used for an analysis of other types of culture texts such as music pieces, literary texts, and even fine arts works. The example used in the article is the emic-etic analysis of Letters about music by Michał Kleofas Ogiński, which has shown that the method seems fruitful from the perspective of an analyser, yet it is flawed in terms of objectivity. Therefore, the author does not recommend it as a main method for academic research, but he suggests it could be an auxiliary method and a new tool for the education of school and university-level students. The present article is a shortened version of the BA thesis entitled Emic-Etic Analysis Exemplified On M. K. Ogiński’s “Lettres sur la musique”, defended at the Department of Composition and Theory of Music, The Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, in June 2021.

Abstract:
Voice is considered essential in academic writing, and metadiscourse is an important device contributing to voice. This study explores the use of metadiscourse and voice construction in Bachelor of Arts (BA) theses written at the onset and final stages by university undergraduates majoring in English in China. A corpus consisting of the discussion sections in the first and final versions of 35 BA theses was built, annotated, and analyzed. Two academics from this university were then invited to evaluate 10 pairs of the texts and specify textual elements that conveyed voice and to provide further comments in a follow-up interview. Results showed that the students used significantly more evidentials, hedges, and boosters in the final versions. The reviewers perceived minor growth in voice strength from the sample texts, and they commented that both content-related features and metadiscourse contributed to voice. This study highlights the importance of cultivating undergraduates’ awareness of voice construction and the use of metadiscourse in academic writing.

Abstract:
Dari sisi konstruksi pun panel–panel mahsrabiya yang terpilih ini masih sangat mungkin diproduksi secara manual (handmade).Kata-kata Kunci: Hijab (Pembatas Visual), Mashrabiya (kisi-kisi kayu), Eksperimen model3D, Algoritma.EFFCTIVENESS OF MASHRABIYA AS A VISUAL INTERFERENCE (HIJAB) BETWEEN GENDERS: A 3D MODEL EKSPERIMENTIn previous research, Mashrabiya (wooden lattice) have been concluded for being able to separate gender zone (male and female student) in a library of an Islamic boarding school (Pesantren) in Kota Langsa, Aceh. Since the experiment was limited on a scale model (1:10), the obtained result potentially lead to some biases if it is applied on a human scale model (1:1). Therefore, further research to minimize the biases and prove the effectiveness of Mashrabiya as gender segregator panel is needed. Applying the same experimental method as in the previous research on human scale model will cost a significant amount of experiment materials and labors in order to build a sample room and the patterns of Mashrabiya. Therefore, 3 dimensional (3D) model eksperimental method and analysis is a solution aimed at obtaining data, separating and minimizing the number of independent variable such as, number of holes, size of holes, width of baluster area, and thickness of the panel; those technical data will be used in hollowing out the panel (manually) in the next research. To ease the control of variables and to obtain a precise quantitative data in every transformed 3D model, then this experiment utilizes Rhinoceros software with Grasshopper plug-in to produce the algorithm of Mashrabiya panels. The result conclude that from 20 of 3D models of Mashrabiya panels only four panels that qualified in term of (Perforation Ratio) PR, (hole area) HA and (baluster area) BA so then will work effectively as a visual interference panel between gender zones as well as very adaptive on natural lighting and air flow accessibility. In term of the Mashrabiya production, these chosen panels are still can be produced manually (handmade). Keywords: Hijab (Visual Interference), Mashrabiya (wooden lattice), 3D model eksperiment, Algorithm.REFERENCESisher. Abstract:
The paper explores the lexical profile of graduation theses written by the students at the University of Montenegro and compares it against that of BA theses authored by native speakers of American English. We study their lexical level (LFP method), lexical variation (sTTR method), and share of academic vocabulary according to the New Academic Word List (Browne, Culligan and Philliphs). We depart from the assumption that L2 academic writing is less complex vocabulary-wise and aim to determine how different it is and where the lexical differences may lie, so that pedagogical recommendations can be made. The results show that the Montenegrin theses are readable at 4,000 words, which means that B2 learners (according to CEFR) can read them at a reasonable level. In contrast, the theses written by native speakers can be read at 7,000 words, i.e. only by those commanding good C levels. As this is in line with our expectations, we conclude that the Montenegrin theses display a sufficient vocabulary size. Since the students still underuse academic vocabulary, we recommend that more emphasis should be placed on it in the course of their studies.

Abstract:
The chef profession is considered a challenging career, with female chefs seeming to be most affected. As such, it is rare to find female chefs occupying the coveted executive chef positions. The aim of this research was to establish if female chefs in Kenya encounter similar challenges to those experienced by female chefs elsewhere.
Previous research shows that female chefs encounter career challenges in hospitality organisations and hence they struggle to make it as chefs; for example, studies by Druckman [1] and Harris and Giuffre [2,3] in the United States, Murray-Gibbons and Gibbons [4] in the United Kingdom, as well as Zengeni et al. [5] in Zimbabwe. This article poses the important question: how can these challenges be overcome?
The study sought to make sense of the lived work experiences of Kenyan female chefs. Baum [6] recommends contextualised research methodologies to explore hospitality issues in non-Western countries. Moreover, Adelowo [7] asserts that lived experiences are better expressed through stories. Therefore, a qualitative approach was employed in this study where 15 chefs working in the Kenyan hospitality industry were interviewed [8]. Ten female chefs told stories of their workplace experiences while five male executive chefs recounted their experiences of working with female chefs.
Despite the different geographical, socio-cultural and economic factors between Kenya and other countries previously studied, female chefs expressed common challenges such as sexual harassment, gender discrimination, unsupportive attitudes towards pregnancy and an unhealthy work environment, as well as hierarchical kitchen structures that they believed discriminated against them. There was an indication of engrained patriarchal attitudes that limit the professional success of potential female chefs. Unfortunately, hospitality employers appeared to support the status quo; that is, a gendering of the chef’s profession that privileges men and penalises women.
These findings suggest a trend that must worry hospitality employers. The highly competitive career structures and the male domination that discourages women from making a long-term career in the kitchen [2], coupled with stiff competition for scarce hospitality human resources, support the need to retain female chefs. Christensen and Rog [9] stress that employee retention strategies will only work if human resource managers are fully committed to creating a positive workplace culture that treats all employees equally, regardless of their gender or any other dimension of diversity.
In his study, Orido [8] suggests that the following measures may help to attract and retain female chefs. Firstly, employers should introduce personalised career development plans. For instance, a female chef who has attained postgraduate qualifications ought to be promoted and remunerated accordingly. This will not only retain female chefs but also enable them to further their career aspirations within the hospitality industry. Secondly, female chefs should be given the opportunity to fully participate at all levels of the kitchen hierarchy, thereby acquiring the necessary skills for promotion in the future to executive chef’s positions. Additionally, it will encourage a clear career progression path within the kitchen hierarchy.
Hospitality employers must ensure that employment opportunities as well as employment terms and career progression are not dependant on a chef’s gender, but on their qualifications and competencies. By investing in female chefs and, most importantly, keeping them safe from bullying at work, the hospitality industry will not only attract, but retain, these talented professionals in satisfying culinary careers.

Abstract:
Abstract Abstract 45 Fetal hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in mice differ from their adult counterparts in a number of key properties. These include a higher cycling activity, an ability to more rapidly reconstitute the HSC compartment of irradiated recipient mice, a higher output of myeloid as compared to lymphoid progeny, and a greater sensitivity to the self-renewal promoting activity of Steel factor. We have previously shown that most of these features of fetal HSCs are sustained until 3 weeks after birth at which time they are rapidly (within 1 week), completely and permanently replaced with the corresponding properties of adult HSCs. A candidate regulator of this transition, Hmga2, was identified based on its greater expression in highly purified fetal versus adult HSCs (CD45+EPCR+CD48−CD150+; E-SLAM cells) with persistence of this difference in the matching lineage-negative (lin−) compartments. Experiments in which Hmga2 was overexpressed by lentiviral transduction of purified adult HSCs which were then transplanted into irradiated mice provided evidence that this chromatin remodeling factor can activate a fetal-like HSC program in these cells; i.e., more rapidly reconstitute the HSC compartment (increased self-renewal response) and produce clones with a higher proportion of myeloid cells. Based on the known ability of the let-7 family of microRNAs (miRNAs) to target Hmga2 transcripts resulting in their degradation and/or translational repression, we next hypothesized that let-7 miRNAs might be involved in controlling HSC developmental programs. A comparison of the levels of expression of 6 members of the let-7 family in purified fetal and adult HSCs, as well as in lin− hematopoietic cells, showed that transcripts for all of these are higher in the adult subsets, although this difference was significant only for let-7b (p<0.05). Since Lin28 is a natural inhibitor of let-7 miRNA biogenesis we proposed that overexpression of this protein might be used to simultaneously inhibit all let-7 miRNA species and therefore modulate let-7-mediated effects in HSCs. Transduction of BA/F3 cells with a Lin28-YFP lentiviral vector led to an elevated expression of Lin28 and a significant decrease in multiple let-7 miRNAs. To investigate the influence of Lin28 overexpression on adult HSC self-renewal activity in vivo, we used the same Lin28 lentiviral vector (or a control YFP vector) to transduce highly purified HSCs (40 E-SLAM cells, i.e. ∼20 HSCs/group/experiment, 3 experiments) in a 3–4-hour exposure protocol and then transplanted all of the cells directly into irradiated mice (total of 3–4 mice/group). The number of HSCs regenerated 6 weeks later was subsequently measured by performing limiting-dilution transplants in secondary mice (total of 12–16 secondary mice/group/experiment). Interestingly, analysis of the secondary recipients showed that the Lin28-overexpressing adult HSCs had expanded in the primary recipients ∼6-fold more than the control-virus transduced HSCs (p<0.001). These findings support our thesis that alterations in let-7 miRNA levels play a key role in regulating the developmental switch from fetal to adult HSCs programs that occurs between 3 and 4 weeks after birth in mice. 1 ABSTRACT

Spatial information on soil characteristics is essential to proper decision-making regarding to the environment and land use management. The objective of this work was the investigation of cross - variance between soil moisture and apparent soil electrical conductivity (CEa), under different land uses in an alluvial valley of Pernambuco. The study was developed at the Advanced Research Unit of Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (UFRPE), located at Brígida River Basin, municipality of Panamirim-PE. Soil samples were collected in a regular mesh of 20 x 10 m, for soil moisture by gravimetric method and, following a regular 10 x 10 m mesh, CEa measurements were performed using EM38® device. Cross-semivariograms were assessed and spatial dependence was verified by geostatistical procedures. It was verified in geostatistical procedures low variation for soil moisture and intermediate variation for CEa. The use of geostatistics allowed identification of covariance between soil moisture and ECa, as well as spatial dependence for both variables, for agricultural areas. It was verified that soil moisture, even at levels close to residual, constitutes a relevant secondary component for increasing soil salinity maps precision, and hence to precision agriculture.

DEPENDÊNCIA ESPACIAL DA UMIDADE DO SOLO E CONDUTIVIDADE ELÉTRICA EM REGIÃO ALUVIAL

 2 RESUMO

Lapins the effect of following cytokinins has been studied: benzyladenine (BA), isopentenyl adenine (2iP), kinetin (KIN) and thidiazuron (TDZ) at concentrations of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 15μM, combined with auxine, indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) at concentrations of 0, 0.5, 2.5 and 5μM. MURASHIGE and SKOOG (1962) was the basic medium used in all the combinations. The following multiplication parameters were monitored: multiplication index, length of axial and lateral shoots. Fresh and dry shoot weight (callus, stem and leaves – S + L) were determined. Some specific issues, such as colour, leaf and callus size, leaf roll, incidence of chlorosis or necrosis along with occurrence of rhizogenesis, i.e. roots unusual for this phase of micropropagation, were also monitored. The highest multiplication index as well as length of axial and lateral shoots was obtained on media with BA. Very poor multiplication, with large sized shoots and big leaves, was achieved on media with 2iP, TDZ and KIN, whereas in many combinations with 2iP, and particularly in those with KIN, rhizogenesis was induced. Obtained results suggest that the choice of cytokinins for the phase of multiplication of sweet cherry is limited to BA. For more rapid micropropagation, through joining rooting and multiplication phases, KIN and 2iP may be applied. The latter two may be also used to obtain sturdy shoots (elongation phase, prior to rooting).

Abstract:
The model of Late Pleistocene-Holocene sequence stratigraphy of the subaqueous Red River delta and the adjacent shelf is proposed by interpretation of high-resolution seismic documents and comparison with previous research results on Holocene sedimentary evolution on the delta plain. Four units (U1, U2, U3, and U4) and four sequence stratigraphic surfaces (SB1, TS, TRS and MFS) were determined. The formation of these units and surfaces is related to the global sea-level change in Late Pleistocene-Holocene. SB1, defined as the sequence boundary, was generated by subaerial processes during the Late Pleistocene regression and could be remolded partially or significantly by transgressive ravinement processes subsequently. The basal unit U1 (fluvial formations) within incised valleys is arranged into the lowstand systems tract (LST) formed in the early slow sea-level rise ~19-14.5 cal.kyr BP, the U2 unit is arranged into the early transgressive systems tract (E-TST) deposited mainly within incised-valleys under the tide-influenced river to estuarine conditions in the rapid sea-level rise ~14.5-9 cal.kyr BP, the U3 unit is arranged into the late transgressive systems tract (L-TST) deposited widely on the continental shelf in the fully marine condition during the late sea-level rise ~9-7 cal.kyr BP, and the U4 unit represents for the highstand systems tract (HST) with clinoform structure surrounding the modern delta coast, extending to the water depth of 25-30 m, developed by sediments from the Red River system in ~3-0 cal.kyr BP.ReferencesBadley M.E., 1985. Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to show the importance of implementing the didactic briefcases (maletas didácticas) from El Museo del Oro in the EFL classroom as a means to foster culture through the use of a theme-based approach. To this end, a bibliographical review was carried out by searching different research articles master and BA theses in order to know about the implementation of the didactic briefcases in Colombia. Thus, the information presented in this paper is to help EFL teachers to realize how beneficial it could be to integrate the didactic briefcases and Theme-Based Instruction (TBI) in their lessons to make them more didactic, flexible, engaging, collaborative, and dynamic while integrating culture in the curriculum. In fact, some studies showed that the didactic briefcases have been used in different areas of Colombian education, such as Arts and Social Science, but not in English. Finally, the results showed that it is possible to implement the didactic briefcases through a theme-based approach because it allows students to open their minds to their own roots and become more critical when interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds.

Abstract:
Abstract The aim of this paper is to characterize the linguistic landscape of municipalities in Slovakia inhabited by Hungarian minority. Empirical data come from two sources: from BA and MA theses, which were defended in 2015 – 2020 at the Institute of Hungarian Linguistics and Literary Studies at the Faculty of Central European Studies, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra and from research project VEGA “Minority variety of the Hungarian language in Slovakia”. As part of the above field research, the linguistic landscape of 82 municipalities in which the Hungarian population makes up at least 20% of the population was mapped. The results fundamentally confirm the research findings of P. Laihonen, who studied linguistic landscape in two municipalities. In all municipalities, the most frequent language was Slovak, this applies to all types of analyzed signs with texts (inscriptions of state and municipal authorities, commercial and private signs). Slovak occurs on at least 80% of signs, the representation of Hungarian as the second most frequent language is between 25 – 55%. The most bilingual Slovak-Hungarian signs are in the southwest of Slovakia, where the largest Hungarian minority lives and where Hungarians form the local majority. On bilingual Slovak-Hungarian signs, the preferred language is Slovak, in terms of information content, it is a duplicate publication of information. Municipal authorities and the commercial sphere have the greatest influence on the formation of the linguistic landscape.

Abstract:
God acts to choose a person or group and within a larger community, for a purpose or future of His own choosing. The main OT word for this word is bak-har (bak-har), which means to choose someone or something carefully, after carefully considering other possibilities. This word includes the mind, is very fond of the chosen thing, and sometimes receives pleasure from it. In the LXX and the NT the verb which corresponds to ba-khar is eklegomai. In ancient Greek this language was usually used in an active sense, and the biblical writers used it in a form meaning to choose for himself. (Hareomai) Haireomai, used of God's election in 2 Thess 2:13, and in Deut. 26:18 LXX, with the same meaning.
The Hebrew verb (yada) (yada), meaning to know which is used for various ways of knowing, at least in the mind, containing and expressing love such as sexual relations, or confession on the part of one who believes in God is used in Gen. 18:19; Hos 13:5 concerning the election of God means knowing God in love. Likewise, the Greek word proginosko meaning “to know beforehand” is translated “He chose” in Romans 8:29.Election is a fully sovereign act of God; Allah is in no way obligated to choose anyone because everyone has lost his position before Allah. Even after Christ's death, God was still under no obligation to carry out salvation. Except that He had to keep the agreement He had made with Christ regarding the salvation of mankind. So, God's election is a fully sovereign act because there is no coercion from anyone.

Abstract:
Can Gio mangrove forest (CGM) is located downstream of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), situated between an estuarine system of Dong Nai - Sai Gon river and a part of Vam Co river. The CGM is the largest restored mangrove forest in Vietnam and the UNESCO’s Mangrove Biosphere Reserve. The CGM has been gradually facing to numeric challenges of global climate change, environmental degradation and socio-economic development for the last decades. To evaluate sediment quality in the CGM, we collected 13 cores to analyze for sediment grain size, organic matter content, and trace element concentration of Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn. Results showed that trace element concentrations ranged from uncontaminated (Cd, Cu, and Zn) to very minor contaminated (Cr, Ni, and Pb). The concentrations were gradually influenced by suspended particle size and the mangrove plants.ReferencesAnh M.T., Chi D.H., Vinh N.N., Loan T.T., Triet L.M., Slootenb K.B.-V., Tarradellas J., 2003. Abstract:
The Program Era Project (PEP) has assembled three related datasets of information on the Iowa Writers’ Workshop (IWW). The first two datasets include the thesis and matriculation records of the IWW from the first creative thesis submitted in 1941 until Spring 2014. These data were initially derived from University of Iowa Library catalog records of MFA theses. Additional data (primarily genre and advisor) were filled in by checking bound copies of theses held in the University Archives. Also included are small number (~1.5% of total) of BA records from other institutions for early faculty and additional degrees earned at Iowa by IWW grads and faculty (e.g., several IWW graduates also have Nonfiction Writing Program MFAs).

Abstract:
Andrew Dean Padgett has been involved with editorial work on Transcultural Studies since the inception of the journal in 2005 until his untimely death in 2015. After starting his tertiary studies in science and engineering, he moved to the Humanities and completed a BA Honours in Comparative Literature and Slavic Studies. His PhD thesis, under the supervision of Slobodanka Vladiv-Glover, was a critique of popular culture in the context of the Frankfurt School and poststructuralist ethics (Marion, Levinas). He leaves behind a legacy of collegial good works and a list of publications (published in this issue) exemplary for a young scholar whose career was cut short by ill health.

Abstract:
Stuart Hall was many things: public intellectual, academic leader, writer, editor, teacher, political activist, family man and friend. We write here of the two aspects we knew personally, writer and friend. Like so many of us engaged in the early formation of cultural and media studies, we both read and were seriously influenced by his work. John discussed Stuart Hall’s work extensively in his PhD thesis on Australian literature of the 1890s in international contexts, and Stuart was one of his examiners. Ann read Stuart’s work in the late 1970s, having just arrived to teach in the BA (Communication) degree at what was then the NSW Institute of Technology, ten years later to become University of Technology, Sydney (UTS).

Abstract:
Portfolio analysis is a tool particularly intended for investors. Risk assessment and risk specification make the investor able to properly diversify and offset the portfolio. Broadly speaking, there are multiple tools destined for building up an efficient set of portfolios. One of them is Markowitz’s model theory postulating building up a portfolio determined on the basis of equilibrium between expected profit level as well as accepted level of risk assessment. In the context of this paper, the objective is to shed some light on creating investment portfolios based on either Markowitz's portfolio theory or evolutionary algorithm. The simulation based methods for building up a portfolio of approximately 40-50 companies listed out in the primary marketof the Warsaw Stock Exchange using the selection function proposed in the BA thesis were presented.Portfolio profit values have been evaluated in a dynamically shifted time window. The conducted analysis showed shifts in the economy at certain periods of time. Abstract:
Abstract:
This paper conducts a descriptive cross-sectional study to determine the outpatient satisfaction with health insurance drug dispensing at the pharmacy of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital in 2019 through a survey questionnaire. The study results show that the outpatient satisfaction was influenced by 4 factors: reliability, assurance, empathy and tangibility, among which, reliability was the most influential one (42%). Generally, the outpatient satisfaction with the health insurance drug dispensing ranged from “Satisfied” to “Absolutely satisfied” (4.19 – 4.36). The study also shows a low level of satisfaction with drug dispensing time and some other aspects of the drug dispensing, which suggests that suitable measures should be taken by the hospital to improve its outpatient drug dispensing service.

Abstract:
English is one of the most vital and necessary tools for people’s successes in many aspects of life. Therefore, building good ways to develop English skills in students is an urgent demand. Organizing English-Vietnamese bilingual lesson is interpreted as educational method in which a foreign language enrichment measure packaged into content teaching, so it is one of the effective ways to improve this skill for students. By investigating 457 students and 27 high school biology teachers in An Giang province, the study pointed out two issues of the reality of using English in biology teaching in high schools: (1) Teachers have rarely used English in teaching activities, (2) Students’ English ability has been really weak. The study has built up the processes of organizing an English-Vietnamese bilingual lesson. The paper demonstrated that high school students’ English ability and qualification has been improved by using these proposed processes.

Abstract:
Sam bo chinh (Abelmoschus sagittifolius (Kurz) Merr.) is a precious medicinal plant that has been exploited and planted in Vietnam for a long time. However, the morphological characteristics of this plant is easy to confuse with other species of the same genus. In addition, the microscopic characteristics and medicinal powder composition of this medicinal plant have not been comprehensively described. The present investigation was aimed to determine the morphological and microscopic characters of Sam bo chinh using comparative morphology, anatomical research and medicinal powder analysis. The complete description of morphological and microscopic characteristics reported in this study will serve as valuable data for the conservation and development of this species in Vietnam.

Abstract:
My presentation is simply to acknowledge the help and encouragement of Ajarn Chin You-di to myself and teams of British and Thai archaeologists to resume the excavation of the important Iron Age, late-prehistoric site at Ban Don Ta Phet in Phanom Tuan District of Kanchanaburi Province which Ajarn Chin had undertaken in 1976. Ban Don Ta Phet is one of the earliest, if not the earliest site in Thailand to show clear connections with the early Buddhist civilizations of India in the last few centuries BCE. Research on the excavated finds has led to numerous dissertations and academic publications by Thai, British and international students and colleagues over the past forty years and have contributed to three Ph D theses, five Masters dissertations, two BA/BSc reports and thirty-two journal or conference publications.
