Psalm 104 paints a picture of Yahweh dressed in the royal robes of both Aten and Baal. The variety of references to Ancient Near Eastern gods points to a rich and complicated history of the origins of Psalm 104, Israel and Israelite theology. The origins of Psalm 104 in all likelyhood include oral traditions, cultic contexts and years of redactional rearrangement and rewriting.
Akhenaten used a centralised cult and monolatrism to achieve political stability in Egypt. Years later Hammurabi used Marduk as chief deity in Babylonia to centralise power and create political and religious stability in his kingdom. It is within this Ancient Near Eastern tradition of using religion and one specific deity to achieve political stability that Psalm 104 finds its origins and cultic context.
The early Israelite monarchy finds itself amidst uncertain political circumstances. The early kings used a centralised monarchy and monolatrism to achieve economic and political stability. The early Israelite government also used other Egyptian influences including governing methods, policies and the use of Egyptian scribes. The monarchy used cultic personal to communicate politically sanctioned theology and contact between cultic personal and Egyptian scribes intertwined with a Canaanite heritage has a cosmopolitan and culturally diverse Psalm 104 at its end. The psalm is used as a war liturgy, with Chaoskampf-motifs to legitimise the Israelite king s military action and kingship. This is done by ritual re-enactment on cultic level connecting Yahweh s mythic action to that of the king s present conflict.Thesis (PhD)--University of Pretoria, 2015.

En mettant l’accent sur les figures extrabibliques de Dieu, cette recherche explore des aspects souvent négligés du développement de l’identité de la divinité qui est devenue à certain moment le Dieu unique et tout puissant des monothéismes « abrahamiques ». Pour les Égyptiens tous les baalim étaient des manifestations séthiennes. Seth, divinité très ancienne est devenue figure extrabiblique de Yhwh, très souvent oubliée, on a essayé d’explorer ses différents aspects en suivant son évolution et ses liens avec les populations d’origine sémitique et de manière générale de la côte levantine. Il est à l’autre extrême d’une longue période de temps, précisément au moment du dernier empereur romain non-chrétien, Julien II que l’on va chercher la trace d’une autre figure extrabiblique négligée de Dieu qui est très complexe. Il s’agit, en fait, de multiples approches philosophiques à l’idée d’une divinité supérieure. La deuxième partie de la thèse s’occupe des figures vétérotestamentaires de Dieu. Complément aux figures extrabibliques, on trouve dans la Bible hébraïque fortes traces d’un panthéon primitif autour de Yhwh/El et sa parèdre. Les dynamiques d’assimilation, association, usurpation, fusion et rejet des attributs des membres de cette « famille divine » en faveur d’une seule divinité toute puissante se trouvent dans les textes bibliquesPutting the accent on the extrabiblical images of God, this research explores some often neglected aspects of the process which lead to the formation of a particular identity for the Only and all mighty God of the “abrahamic” monotheisms. For the Egyptians, all baalim were sethian manifestations. Seth, a very ancient god, became one of the sometimes forgotten Yahwe’s extrabiblical images. We have explored its different aspects following its evolution and ties with semitic populations, and in general with those of the Levantine coast. On the other chronological extreme of a very long historical period, during the reign of the last non-christian Roman Emperor, Julian the 2nd, we looked for another very complex extrabiblical image. It is is in fact, not one but many philosophical approaches to the ida of a superior divine entity. The second chapter studies God’s images inside the Hebrew Bible. These images are related and they complete the extrabiblica ones. In the biblical text we find strong tacs of an ancient local pantheon leaded by Yahweh/El and his paredra. We find in the biblical texts dynamics of assimilation, association, substitution, equivalence, fussion and rejection of divine attributs from this “family of gods” to the Only God

BaAl2O4 et les phases dérivées sont ferriélectriques: la polarisation spontanée possède deux composantes de sens opposes et d'intensités différentes. Un modèle a été propose pour justifier l'apparition d' une phase non stoechiométrique dérivée de BaAl2O4. BaZnGeO4 est pyroélectrique a 300K; cinq transitions de phase ont été mises en évidence. Les céramiques de BaZnGeO4 se polarisent spontanément au cours du traitement thermique en raison du caractère piezoélectrique du matériau.

The religion of ancient cultures has been captured in stone, clay, ink, gold and ivory. Huge wall reliefs down to tiny golden earrings or amulets have presented us with the faces of the gods. And which god is which, and what god did what, and who worshipped whom are questions that have fuelled the fires of many a scholar's imagination. As scholars have attempted the task of describing their chosen area, they have painted pictures for us. Unfortunately, in doing this they have often created portraits that are no more than pastiches. "The baal" of the Hebrew scriptures is described with the characteristics of Baal of Ugarit. "The molek" of II Kings and Jeremiah is accused of being a chthonic deity by virtue of association with gods of the underworld in Babylon, Mari and Ugarit. "Lady Asherah of the Sea" is cut down by the pens of those who equate her with the wooden thing burnt upon the altar by Gideon. This thesis presents isolated portraits of three deities, baal, asherah, and molek, from three different venues. The first chapter discusses "baal"; Baal at Ugarit, Baal from the iconographic/epigraphic material and thirdly, "the baal" from the Jeremiah- deuteronomistic texts. The second chapter presents "asherah" in similar fashion. The third chapter addresses the question "who is molek? " in three sections; firstly, MLK from the iconographic/epigraphic material, secondly, "molek" from the Hebrew scriptures and thirdly, a discussion of how the scholars engage with the evidence. The final chapter of this thesis compares and contrasts the different pictures that are presented by the different venues of each of these deities, drawing attention to the perils of mixing these venues in order to produce composite pictures. This thesis argues that methodologically it is sounder to be left with minimal portraits of the faces of these gods from the venues studied intra-textually, than to make vast assumptions about cultural diffusion and uniformity for which there is no evidence.

This dissertation concerns the interpretation of theophanic imagery in the Prophets. In essence, my argument is that the imagery which attends and describes theophany in the poetic books of the Hebrew Bible is mythic and not metaphorical-that it should be interpreted in relation to the Chaoskampf myth, as Yahweh defeats chaos and restores order, rather than being understood as a metaphorical comparison with natural phenomena. In arguing this way, however, I am taking a new approach to theophanic imagery, for such imagery has almost uniformly been understood in Old Testament scholarship as metaphor. Before examining in detail this traditional and more widespread approach to theophanic imagery and the alternative to it which I wish to suggest, however, it will be helpful to state at the outset two foundations upon which my argument rests and the specific texts which will be enlisted to support it.

Este trabalho analisa a recepção de Georg Büchner (1813-1837) por Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956) enfocando a sua fase criativa inicial. Especificamente analisa-se a abordagem da recepção do drama Woyzeck em Tambores na Noite e da narrativa Lenz, de Büchner, em Baal de Brecht. As duas obras de Büchner, como a maior parte de seus trabalhos, foram publicadas postumamente: Lenz, em 1837, e Woyzeck, em 1878. Esta última estreou em 1913. A obra do autor, quase desconhecida em sua época, encontrou ressonância no Realismo e no Naturalismo, mas o auge da recepção se deu na virada do século XIX para o XX, com a Modernidade e os expressionistas. A presente análise investiga a repercussão de Woyzeck e de Lenz como formas específicas da recepção de Büchner por Brecht. Os dois escritores são importantes por refletirem posições críticas quanto à política e quanto ao ideário de suas épocas, na Alemanha. Brecht usou ambas as obras de Büchner como inspiração para pôr em evidência a posição do indivíduo frente a uma época em decadência, que se caracteriza ademais pela política autoritária na Alemanha, bem como pela falta de liberdade individual. A análise baseia-se na pesquisa hermenêutica de Hans Gadamer e nas premissas acerca da estética da recepção de Hans Robert Jauss. Partindo da estética da recepção, os dramas Tambores na Noite e Baal são examinados quanto à sua intertextualidade com o drama Woyzeck e a narrativa Lenz de Büchner, com auxílio de reflexões elaboradas por Broich e Pfister, num método que permite analisar as relações históricas e textuais entre obras literárias. Neste trabalho, procuramos estabelecer uma relação intertextual direta entre Woyzeck e Tambores na Noite e também entre Lenz e Baal, algo negligenciado na pesquisa literária até o presente momento.This work analyzes the reception of Georg Büchner (1813-1837) by Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956), focusing Brechts initial creative phase. In particular, the reception of the drama Woyzeck in Drums in the Night and of the novel Lenz, from Büchner, in Baal, from Brecht, is analyzed. Both works of Büchner, as is also the case for the majority of his remaining texts, were published posthumously: Lenz, in 1837, and Woyzeck, in 1878; the drama had its premiere only in November 1913. His works, close to unknown at his time, obtained some resonance in realism and in naturalism but the peak of the reception of his works occurred only in the beginning of the XXth century, with modernism and the expressionists. The present analysis investigates the impact of Woyzeck and Lenz and the specific form of Brechts reception of Büchner. Both these authors are important since they reflect critical positions within the political and ideological scenarios of their times, in Germany. Brecht used both works from Büchner as inspiration to put in evidence the position of the individual in a time of decadence, which, moreover was characterized by an authoritarian and repressive politics in Germany, as well as the lack of individual freedom. This analysis is based in the literary hermeneutics of Hans Gadamer, and the premises of the reader-response criticism of Hans Robert Jauss. The dramas Drums in the Night and Baal are examined taking into account the intertextuality with the drama Woyzeck and narrative Lenz of Büchner, with the help of reflections elaborated by Broich and Pfister, a method which allows to clarify the historic and textual relations of literary works. In this thesis we attempt to establish a direct intertextual relation between the dramas Woyzeck and Drums in the Night and also of Lenz and Baal, which had not been previously identified in literary research up to now.

La présente étude s'inspire des travaux sur le mythe du héros entrepris au cours du XXe siècle, dans lesquels ont été établis les éléments du "modèle héroi͏̈que" interprétés dans une perspective psychanalytique. Elle se base également sur les recherches sur l'imaginaire dont G. Bachelard, M. Eliade, H. Corbin et G. Durand, entre autres, ont essayé de déceler les règles de fonctionnement basées sur des constantes universelles. Parallèlement à ces travaux, le genre hagiographique a attiré l'attention d'un nombre considérable d'écrivains au XXe siècle et suscité un intérêt croissant dans les milieux académiques, où les récits hassidiques ont fait l'objet de nombreuses recherches. Les mythologèmes (modèles ou schémas mythiques) du héros et du saint s'avèrent en grande partie semblables et découpés en séquences codifiées qui reposent sur un itinéraire archétypal. Le présent travail se propose de comparer le modèle du juste (du zaddiq, idéal de perfection dans le judai͏̈sme et l'un des symboles majeurs de la kabbale), tel qu'on le trouve dans l'hagiographie hassidique, aux modèles du héros et du saint. Postulant que ce dernier constitue une variante du modèle universel du héros, nous essayons de montrer que le substrat mythique commun à ces figures symboliques et à l'hagiographie en général est le mythe du héros. Notre démarche s'inscrit dans le cadre de la mythocritique, méthode d'analyse selon laquelle toute structure mythique se manifeste par la récurrence d'éléments identiques ou de valeur symbolique équivalente. Dans cette perspective, notre analyse suit les étapes des biographies légendaires de deux figures emblématiques du mouvement hassidique, le Baal Shem Tov (1700 1760), son fondateur, et R. Nahman de Braslav (1772 1810), en y décelant les thèmes récurrentsThis study draws on various works undertaken in the 20th century on the myth of the hero whereby the elements of the "heroic model" were identified and interpreted in a psychoanalytical perspective. It also draws on research in symbolic imagination, whose universal constants G. Bachelard, M. Eliade, H. Corbin and G. Durand, among others, attempted to describe. Parallel to these works, hagiography inspired a considerable number of 20th century writers and created increasing academic interest. In particular, Hasidic narratives have been extensively researched. The mythologems (models or mythical schemes) of the hero and the saint are basically similar, comprising common sequences of an underlying archetypal itinerary. The subject of this work is to compare the model of the just (the zaddiq, the ideal of perfection in Judaism, and one of the major symbols in the Kabbalah) as described in Hasidic hagiography, to the models of the hero and the saint. From the postulate that the latter is a variant of the universal model of the hero, we have attempted to demonstrate that the mythical substrate common to these symbolic figures, and to hagiography in general, is the myth of the hero. Our approach is that of mythocritics, a method of analysis according to which all mythical structures express themselves through the redundancy of elements of identical symbolic value. From this perspective, we analyse the itineraries of the founder of Hasidism, the Baal Shem Tov (1700-1760), and another of its emblematic figures, Rabbi Nahman of Braslav (1772 1810), identifying the recurring themes within their legendary biographies

Le but de cette recherche est d’établir un rapprochement entre deux méthodes thérapeutiques pratiquées à deux époques différentes, dans deux langues différentes et deux cultures différentes. Il s’agit de comprendre la valeur thérapeutique des paroles du Ba̒al Shem Ṭov, le Besht ( 1700-1760), fondateur du mouvement hassidique, en utilisant des notions scientifiques issues de la conception de Milton Erickson, psychiatre et psychologue clinique américain ( 1901-1980). Le Hassidisme est un mouvement religieux, spirituel et social s’efforcant de réveiller en l’homme la partie inconsciente du divin à partir des actes quotidiens, et pas seulement par l’étude de la Torah. Cette thèse propose l’analyse de vingt récits issus du premier livre imprimé racontant ses miracles Les Eloges du Besht (1815), dans lesquels il guérit des sujets par la parole entrainant un changement dans leur conscience. Le modèle inspiré par la méthode d’Erickson, nous a permis d’analyser dans chaque récit les phrases « semeuses », «accompagnantrices», «guidantes» et «décisives», selon leurs astuces rhétoriques, et leur communication métaphorique. Ces éléments font partie du language de l’hémisphère droit du cerveau et de l’inconscient, et bloquent l’attention consciente, étendent l’inconscient, provoquant une hypnose naturelle, l’éveil de l’apprentissage inconscient, et l’élaboration d’une solution. Les conclusions de la recherche montrent une ressemblance dans les pratiques du Besht et d’Erickson. La solution du problème étend la vision du monde, et renforce la confiance en soi. La force thérapeutique des mots réside dans leur capacité à réveiller cette confiance en soi. Chez Erikson, il s’agit d’une confiance dans le « moi » uniquement, ̓ani, et chez le Besht il s’agit du « moi » contenant en lui la présence divine, ̓anokhiThe goal of this dissertation is to draw near two mental treatment attitudes from different cultures and languages; to understand the therapeutic value of words uttered by the Baal Shem Tov, the Besht (1700-1760), founder of Hasidism, accordingly to scientific terms from the approach of Milton Erickson (1901-1980), an american psychiatrist and psychologist. Hasidism is a religious, spiritual and social movement, purposing to rouse the unconscious divine in every soul by any daily action, and not merely by studying the Torah. This research demonstrates an analysis of twenty tales from In praise of Baal Shem Tov, (1815), the first printed book of miracles, created while treating verbally his listeners by changing their consciousness. A model inspired by Erickson's approach analyzes rhetoric tricks and metaphorical communication in ''seeding'', ''pacing'', ''leading'' and ''decisive'' utterances of the Besht. Those elements are the language of the right cerebral hemisphere and the unconscious. They block the conscious attention, enlarge the unconscious one, and cause a natural hypnosis and unconscious learning which produces the right solution. . Results of research confirm a similar action creating similar effects. The solution expands world's image and strengthens self confidence. Baal teshuvas are traditionally observant Orthodox Jewish individuals who were previously not religiously observant and chose to become observant at a later juncture in their lives. This population is at risk of psychosocial dysfunction, particularly in the area of marriage, but little or no research has been conducted with this population. The purpose of this study was to study how 1 factor, the laws of family purity, an ancient set of Jewish laws governing sexual behavior between husbands and wives, may have an effect on marital satisfaction among baal teshuvas. Areas of marital satisfaction were measured by the Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale, Triangular Love Scale, and New Sexual Satisfaction Survey. Relational-cultural theory and relational spirituality were used to describe how spirituality affects individual well-being and the quality of one's relationships with others. A sample of 44 male and 59 female baal teshuvas completed the surveys. MANOVAs and 2-factor ANOVAs were conducted to compare the effects of gender and level of observance of family purity laws on marital satisfaction survey results. Results indicated a significant difference only by gender on the sexual satisfaction measure, although it is not known how much of a difference there was between the genders. This study reinforces indications from past research that studying sexual satisfaction in marriages is an increasingly important area of study and clinical practice. This study may lead to positive social change by identifying methods to improve marital satisfaction in the newly religious population. In addition, the results may provide further evidence supporting the already known positive psychological benefits of the laws of family purity.

Francis Poulenc (1899-1963) demonstrates a remarkable affinity for surrealist poetry in his numerous settings of leading modernist French poets from the first half of the twentieth century. The poetry of Max Jacob (1876-1944), a once unduly marginalized writer who is now regarded as an influential initiator of surrealism, provided the inspiration for one of Poulenc's most significant works, the chamber cantata Le Bal masque (1932).This thesis seeks to shed light on Poulenc's largely neglected artistic interaction with Jacob by exploring musical counterparts to the poet's unique surrealist aesthetic in Le Bal masque. Chapter one examines Poulenc's artistic milieu surrounding the composition and first performance of Le Bal masque, and reviews previous literature on Poulenc's involvement with avant-garde art and literature. Chapter two focuses on Jacob himself and discusses key aspects of his subversive poetic aesthetic. Chapter three outlines the fundamental characteristics of surrealist art in general and reviews previous discussions of music and surrealism. The final chapter explores surrealist influences in Le Bal masque while concentrating on musical parallels to central features of Jacob's poetry and surrealist art in general described in the preceding chapters.

Durant le premier millénaire, entre le VIIe/VIe et le IIe siècle avant Jésus-Christ, les Carthaginois ont élevé des stèles votives dans un sanctuaire à ciel ouvert. Dédiées à la dyade Baal Hamon et Tinnit Pane Baal, ces sculptures montrent sur leur surface décorée une iconographie qui se compose, en grande partie, de signes et symboles géométriques: un losange, une image céleste composée d’un disque et d’un croissant, une « idole-bouteille », le signe dit « de Tinnit » et un étendard nommé « caducée » dans la littérature. À ce jour, les informations liées à l’interprétation de ces images sont restées largement disparates et fragmentaires et aucune synthèse approfondie n’a encore été publiée à leur sujet. Afin d’aboutir à des résultats tangibles, il s’avère indispensable de mettre à plat l’ensemble des connaissances acquises sur le sujet. À cette fin, une nouvelle approche méthodologique basée sur une typologie raisonnée, c’est-à-dire diachronique et limitée à la seule métropole carthaginoise, sera mise en place. En outre, cette démarche doit être définie en adéquation avec le contexte régional tyrien, berceau de l’idéologie religieuse carthaginoise. Au-delà du rapport de ces images avec les divinités invoquées, la typologie à promouvoir doit, en même temps, nous permettre de clarifier le contexte chronologique propre à chacun de ces éléments figurés. / During the first millennium, between the VIIth/VIth and IInd century bc, the Carthaginians have erected votive stelae in an open air precinct. Dedicated to the dyad Baal Hamon and Tinnit Pane Baal, those sculptures show on their decorated surface an iconography mostly composed of geometric signs and symbols: a lozenge, a celestial pattern made up of a disk and a crescent, a “bottle idol”, the “Tinnit sign” and a standard named “caduceus” in the literature. To date, the information tied up with the interpretation of those images are largely disparate and fragmentary and no thorough synthesis has been published on their subject. In order to reach tangible results, it is necessary to gather all known data’s on the subject. To that end, a new methodological approach, based on a diachronic typology limited to the sole Carthaginian metropolis, will be put in place. Moreover, this approach must be defined in adequacy with the Tyrian regional context, cradle of the Carthaginian religious ideology. Beyond the links of those images with of the invoked divinities, the typology to promote must allow us, in the same time, to clarify the chronological context peculiar to each of the studied items.Doctorat en Histoire, art et archéologie

Contrat d'adhésion, le contrat de bail est conclu entre un locataire, réputé être la partie faible et un bailleur, considéré comme la partie forte du contrat. Afin de prévenir la sortie du locataire au gré du bailleur, le législateur est intervenu pour protéger le locataire et organiser le maintien de la relation contractuelle. Les nombreuses législations en la matière ont contribué à rendre les règles gouvernant les baux à statut peu accessibles et lisibles, ce qui nuit à la sécurité juridique et au marché locatif.Une étude approfondie de la rupture du contrat de bail par le bailleur révèle que ce dernier est limité dans sa volonté de rompre la relation contractuelle. D'une part, la rupture est soumise à des conditions strictes et nombreuses. D'autre part, la législation favorise dans de nombreuses hypothèses la continuation de la relation contractuelle au détriment des intérêts du bailleur. La rupture du contrat de bail apparaît donc délicate pour le bailleur, confronté à une multitude d'obstacles. Il est donc utile de procéder à l'identification des modes de rupture du contrat de bail dont dispose le bailleur et, en contrepoint, des moyens mis en place par le législateur pour organiser la continuation de la relation contractuelle en privant le bailleur de la possibilité de rompre celle-ci.La thèse a pour objet de mettre en lumière que la situation du bailleur est difficile, tant les possibilités de mettre fin au contrat de bail sont encadrées. Study of three particular lease contracts : residential lease, commercial lease and agricultural lease.The lease contract is a standard contract where the lessee is dependent on the lessor. Typical exemple of an agreement contract, the lessee is deemed to be the weaker part while the lessor is considered the strongest one of the contract. In order to prevent the release of the lessee at the option of the lessor, the legislator has intervene to protect the lessee and organise the continuation of their contractual relationship. The many laws as regards have helped to make the rules around low status leases, less accessible and readable which undermines legal security and rental market.A thorough study of breach the contract by the lessor reveals that he is limited in his freedom of breaking the contractual relationship. On the one hand, the breach of the contract is subject to strict and many conditions. On the other hand, the legislation promotes in most cases the continuation of the contractual relationship to the detriment of lessor's interests. The breach of the contract appears delicate for the lessor and full of obstacles. So we're talking to proceed with the identification of breaking modes of the lessor and, to happen concurrently, means established by the legislature to organize the continuation of the contractual relationship preventing lessor to end it.The aim of this thesis is to emphasize the fact that lessor's situation is complicated, so the possibilities to put an end lease are regulated. Despite anecdotal evidence of changes to tennis ball characteristics and play properties, little research has been directed towards understanding the causes and effects of tennis ball degradation. Improved racket technology and player fitness have contributed to an increase in the speed of the game, yet balls have seen few advancements over the same period. There are several obvious factors contributing to tennis ball degradation: natural pressure loss in pressurised balls, changes to the cloth covering due to court and racket impacts, and precipitation and environmental factors. As recent tennis research has focused on the new balls, there is a need to investigate other ball conditions present in the game of tennis. This thesis provides a structured investigation into the causes and effects of ball degradation, an objective assessment of the effects of degradation on ball performance, and incorporates subjective perceptions of all aesthetics and play properties noted by players. Particular attention is given to ball fuzziness. Excessive fuzziness can occur from manufacturing variability, court and racket interactions, and environmental conditions - though there is currently no standardised method to assess ball surface condition. An objective measure of ball fuzziness has been developed and used in the analysis of nearly 4000 individual ball images. The effects of court and racket impacts, precipitation, natural pressure loss, and repeated impacts have been analysed for their effects on ball degradation. An assessment of ball performance utilised ball impact and aerodynamic data to determine significant differences between balls and develop an improved ball trajectory model.

This report will research how micro stepping effects the vibrations from the motors. The report will also cover the steps that are needed for design a ball balancing robot. This type of robot can be seen as an inverted pendulum. Without any controller the system is unstable and the robot will fall. With help of an IMU that provides the necessary data which is needed to implement a controller which makes it possible for the robot to balance on the ball. Because of weak motors the robot wasn’t able to balance. Other reasons and areas of improvement is discussed in the report.Denna rapport utforskar hur mikrosteg påverkar vibrationerna från motorerna. Rapportenbeskriver även de nödvändiga stegen för hur man designar en balanseringsrobot.Denna typ av robot kan ses som en inverterad pendel. Utan någon kontroller är systemetostabilt och roboten kommer att falla. Med hjälp av en IMU tillhandahålls nödvändigdata som behövs för att implementera en kontroller som gör det möjligt för roboten attbalansera på bollen. På grund av svaga motorer kunde roboten inte balansera. Andraorsaker och förbättringsområden diskuteras i rapporten.

Objetivos: O objetivo do estudo foi correlacionar o estadiamento pós-cirúrgico e a evolução clinica em um período de 3 anos com as características histopatológicas e imunoistoquímicas considerados fatores prognósticos e/ou preditivos nas pacientes em tratamento de câncer de mama do tipo triplo-negativo do Hospital Barão de Lucena. Método: O estudo foi feito com 125 pacientes do sexo feminino portadoras de câncer de mama triplo negativo e que foram submetidas a tratamento cirúrgico no serviço de mastologia do Hospital Barão de Lucena no período de 2009 a 2012. Nessas pacientes, foram estudadas as características clínicas e patológicas dos tumores e correlacionadas com os subtipos basal e não-basal. A análise descritiva dos dados foi feita através de tabelas e/ou gráficos para variáveis qualitativas. Para análise de associação foi utilizado o teste Qui-quadrado para independência. Nas tabelas que apresentaram frequência esperada menor que 5, em mais de 20% das caselas, foi utilizado o teste Exato de Fisher. Além disso, foi calculada a razão de chance (OR) e o intervalo de confiança para OR. Em toda a análise foi considerado nível de significância de 5%. Resultados: A média de idade foi de 49 anos, com relação a raça, tivemos a cor negra em 83 (66,4%). O tipo histológico mais comum foi o ductal em 111 (88,8%). O estágio patológico I/II foi o mais comum em 87 (69,6%) das pacientes. Em 71 (56,8%) pacientes não demonstraram comprometimento axilar. O Birads IV foi evidenciado em 60 (63,3%) das pacientes do tipo basal e em 22 (36,7%) no não-basal. Com relação ao tipo de cirurgia, a cirurgia conservadora foi utilizada em 57 (45,6%), desde setorectomia a técnicas de oncoplastia. A recorrência esteve presente em 30, sendo basal em 16 (53,3%) das pacientes e 14 (46,7%) no não-basal, onde a metástase óssea foi a mais frequente. Conclusão: O subtipo basal e não basal, além de serem entidades distintas , têm implicação significativa no pior prognósyico e sobrevida .No follow up de três anos o fator de prognóstico que mais influenciou o subtipo basal e não-basal nas pacientes com tratamento de câncer de mama foram a idade abaixo de 40 anos, o tipo histológico, a citoqueratina CK5/6 e com grau de significância maior dos fatores EGFR e KI-67.
Objectives: The objective of the study was to compare the postoperative staging and clinical developments outcomes in a period of three years with the histopathological and immunohistochemical characteristics considered prognostic factors and or predictive in patients being treated for triple negative type of breast cancer Barão de Lucena Hospital. Method: A descriptive analysis of data was done through tables and or graphics for qualitative variables. For association analysis was performed using chi-square test for independence. In the tables that showed less than 5 expected frequency by more than 20% of cells, we used Fisher's exact test. In addition, it calculated the odds ratio (OR) and the confidence interval for OR. Throughout the analysis was 5% significance level. The study was conducted with 125 female patients suffering from triple negative breast cancer who underwent surgical treatment in mastology service Barão de Lucena Hospital from 2009 to 2012. These patients were studied the clinical and pathological features of the tumors and correlated with basal and not-basal subtypes. Results: The average age was 49 years , with respect to race, we had the black color in 83 (66,4%). The most common histological type was ductal in 111 (88.8%). The pathological stage I / II was the most common in 87 (69.6%) of pacientes. In 71 patients (56.8%) showed no metastasis axilar. The Birads IV commitment was evidenced in 60 (63.3%) patients the basal-like and in 22 (36.7%) in the non basal. With the type of surgery, conservative surgery was performed in 57 (45.6%) from the setorectomia until oncoplastic surgery. The recurrence techniques were present in 30, and Basal in 16 (53.3%) patients and 14 (46.7%) in the non-basal, where bone metastasis were the mostfrequent. Conclusion: The basal and non basal subtype besides distint entities has significant implications in the worst prognosis and survive of the patients.At follow up three years’ prognostic factor that most influenced the basal and non-basal subtype in patients with treatment of breast cancer were age below 40 years, histological type, cytokeratin CK5 / 6 and degree of significance EGFR and most of the factors KI-67.

The aim of the presented thesis is to examine the potential of an autonomous football handling machine. It has been noted that the number of machines with the purpose of autonomously handling footballs, tennis balls, golf balls etc. are increasing but that no such machine is yet well established on the market. The performance of a robot that can both find, collect and retrieve a ball to a fix position is being examined. An area where the machine is intended to fill a purpose is for example penalty or free kick practice within football, where a single player stands relatively far away from goal and the ball does not necessarily bounce back to the player after scoring. Such a robot could make practice more efficient by relieving the player from the repetitive task of running back and forth to the goal, hence providing him/her with the flexibility of practicing alone. The results of the study show that ultrasound is not an effective technique for detecting a football, because of many reasons. One of the reasons is that the ultrasonic sensor doesn’t measure distance accurately enough when dealing with spherical surfaces. However, since the developed demonstrator is tested in a fixed setting, its success rate is high. With a few adjustment, the system as a whole shows high potential. The main recommendation for future work is to replace the ultrasonic sensor with a camera, and implementation of feedback control, for the steering of the robots movements.Syftet med det presenterade arbetet är att undersöka potentialen hos en autonom maskin för hantering av fotbollar. Det har noterats att antalet maskiner med syfte att autonomt hantera fotbollar, tennisbollar, golfbollar och dylikt. har ökat, men att ingen sådan maskin ännu är väletablerad på marknaden. Prestandan hos en robot som både kan hitta, plocka upp och återbringa en boll till en bestämd plats undersöks. Ett område där roboten ämnas användas är till exempel vid träning av straffar eller frisparkar inom fotboll, där en ensam spelaren står relativt långt bort från målet och bollen inte nödvändigtvis studsar tillbaka till spelaren efter att bollen placerats i mål. En dylik robot skulle möjliggöra mer effektiv träning genom att bespara spelaren den repetativa uppgiften att springa fram och tillbaka till mål, och således delge denne med flexibiliteten av att kunna träna ensam. Studiens resultat visar att ultraljud inte är en effektiv teknik för att detektera en boll, av flera anledningar. En av anledningarna är att ultraljudssensorn inte har tillräcklig noggrannhet för att mäta avstånd till sfäriska ytor. Eftersom den framtagna prototypen är testad i en riggad situation är antalet lyckade försök trots detta hög. Med ett antal justeringar uppvisar systemet som helhet god potential. De huvudsakliga rekommendationerna för framtida utveckling av produkten är att byta ut ultraljudssensorn mot en kamera, samt att införa feedback-reglering för styrning av robotens rörelser.

Il est tenu pour dogme que le statut du fermage prohibe toute valorisation du bail rural lequel se trouve ainsi placé hors commerce. L'article L. 411-35 du Code rural en est une parfaite illustration puisqu'il interdit fermement - sous réserve de rares exceptions strictement réglementées - la cession du bail, serait-elle consentie à titre gratuit. L'article L. 411-74 du même Code en est une autre illustration qui sanctionne le versement de sommes par le preneur entrant en contrepartie du bail qui lui est consenti. Or, dans leur majorité, les auteurs constatent davantage qu'il n'expliquent cette incessibilité du bail rural. Toujours est-il que ce postulat s'impose tant aux parties et à leurs conseils (au premier rang desquels le notaire) qu'aux juridictions. L'affirmation du principe d'incessibilité du bail rural, qui participe de son régime, clé de voûte d'un statut aux règles si minutieusement assemblées, nous a conduit à en relever, quant à sa nature, les altérations, dont les fissures générées par les interventions législatives successives sont susceptibles de conduire à l'effondrement de l'édifice via la notion de "propriété culturale".

Cet essai vise à expliquer trois faits : le changement de qualité des logements ("filtering"), l'écart entre le loyer d'un logement occupe et celui des logements nouvellement loués à caractéristiques identiques, et le rôle des contrôles de loyer. Classiquement, on montre qu'un marché locatif segmente conduit à l'émergence d'équilibres conduit à l'émergence d'equilibres multiples, qui entrainent la coexistence de plusieurs stratégies d'entretien de la part des propriétaires-bailleurs. Le délabrement ("filtering down") pourrait s'expliquer ainsi. D'autre part, et à l'instar de la relation de travail, un modèle de "loyers d'efficience" montre que la prise en compte de l'effort du locataire par le bailleur conduit à des profils de loyer décroissants en cours de bail. On soutient toutefois qu'une approche en information symétrique est plus pertinente, du fait de l'acquisition d'information en cours de bail. Dans la seconde partie, la formation du contrat est donc modélisée de manière déterministe. Le point nouveau est que le locataire entretient son lieu de vie, car il a un horizon de décision non nul (la durée du bail). Le bailleur en tirera une plus-value au départ du locataire. On montre que le locataire entretient d'autant plus que le bail est long, même lorsqu'il est soumis à une contrainte de liquidité. En conséquence, le bailleur réduit son entretien, ce qui pourrait aussi conduire au délabrement optimal. Dans ce nouveau cadre d'analyse, le contrat de bail est pareto-améliorant pour les deux parties, relativement à une situation ou le locataire n'entretient pas. Toutefois, le contrat pareto optimal serait que le bailleur rachète le legs au locataire. De plus, on montre que les contrôles de loyer sont plus neutres qu'on le pense vis-à-vis du délabrement optimal adopte par les bailleurs, ce qui pourrait expliquer leur généralisation dans le monde. L'hypothèse de la relation entre ancienneté de présence du locataire et baisse de loyer est testée sur un échantillon de villes françaises, grâce à une analyse de prix hédoniques. Enfin, il est suggéré que cette approche capitalistique du contrat pourrait être étendue à d'autres formes contractuelles, particulièrement à la relation salarialeThis thesis is concerned with the filtering down of the quality of the dwellings, the tenure rent discounts observed in the rental housing markets and the role played by rent controls on the quality issue. Traditional literature shows that a segmented rental housing market leads to multiple equilibria conducting to numerous quality maintenance strategies by the landlords. This could explain the filtering down of the quality of the rental units, but not the tenure rent discounts. A model of "efficient rent", analogous to the efficient wage theory in labor, suggests a decreasing rent over the period of the lease as an incentive device by the landlord to increase the effort by the tenant to maintain the quality of the dwelling. We argue, however, that the "efficient rent" model is based on asymmetric information that does not prevail in the rental housing market, as information on the dwelling is acquired during the period of the lease. In the second part of the thesis, a new deterministic contractual model is proposed. The originality of this approach is to link positively the tenant's quality maintenance of the dwelling with the duration of the contract. The tenant's quality maintenance constitutes a "bequest" to the landlord at the end of the contract, which explains the tenure rent discount offered to the tenant. This contractual arrangement incites the landlord to reduce his level of maintenance of the dwelling, hence the observed filtering down. Compared to a situation where the tenant does not maintain the quality of the dwelling, our model is shown to be pareto improving. But the pareto optimal contract would entail the sale of the bequest to the landlord. We also show that rent controls have less influence on landlord's maintenance than usually thought a possible explanation of why controls are so widely used around the world. A hedonic price analysis tests this tenure rent discount model on a sample of french data. Finally, it is suggested that our approach can be applied to labor contractual arrangements

Son regime juridique est derogatoire au regime de droit commun des baux d'immeubles. Le bailleur doit avoir la capacite d'aliener l'immeuble et le preneur ne peut avoir que la qualite d'un organisme d'habitations a loyer modere, d'une societe d'economie mixte dont l'objet est de construire ou de donner a bail des logements, d'une collectivite territoriale ou, enfin, d'un organisme dont l'un des objets est de contribuer au logement des personnes defavorisees et agree a cette fin par le representant de l'etat dans le departement. Le contrat de bail a rehabilitation doit etre redige en la forme authentique en vue de sa publicite au fichier immobilier. Sa duree minimale est de douze ans et sa prise d'effet est soumise a la conclusion par le preneur d'une convention de l'article l 351-2 du code de la construction et de l'habitation. Pendant la duree du contrat, le bailleur a le droit de proceder a des actes de disposition sur l'immeuble. The rehabilitation lease must be drawn up in form of a notarial deed with a view to its publication in the property register. Its minimum duration is twelve years and its coming into force is subject to the lessee's entering into an agreement in accordance with the provisions of article l 351-2 of the building and housing code. Throughout the duration of the contract, the lessor has the right to sell or otherwise dispose of the building. In return he is obliged to place the building at the lessee's disposal, to ensure undisturbed possession of the property being leased, and to guarantee the lessee against concealed defects. For his part, the lessee has a real property right to the building and can carry out all acts necessary for the rehabilitation and management of the building. Il est permis de le penser, même si la profusion et l'éparpillement des textes ne facilite guère l'analyse. Si le droit matrimonial infléchit le régime de la location, le droit des baux n'en altère pas moins les règles ordinaires des régimes matrimoniaux. Cette double influence est illustrée par ce qu'il convient de nommer la matrimonialisation et la patrimonialisation du bail des époux. La matrimonialisation du bail des époux consiste en l'attribution de droits sur la location au conjoint du preneur ou à celui du bailleur, au mépris des règles traditionnelles énoncées par le droit des contrats, effet relatif des conventions en particulier. Le crédit-bail immobilier a été importé desEÉtats-Unis sous le nom de leasing. Ce contrat a été partiellement réglementé par la loi du 2 juillet 1966. Dans sa configuration de base, le contrat de crédit-bail immobilier est composé d'un bail et d'une promesse unilatérale de vente. Cette simplicité apparente cache en réalité un contrat dont la nature juridique est atypique. Cette technique contractuelle de financement des investissements immobiliers présente un caractère sui generis. Cette qualification du contrat ressort de deux éléments fondamentaux que sont l' originalité et la complexité de cette convention. Elle se distingue des contrats nommés qui la composent et des contrats nommés voisins et se rapproche d'une opération de crédit. Le statut de banque du crédit-bailleur renforce ce caractère financier. Elle est complexe par l' enchevêtrement des obligations empruntées à des contrats connus mais aménagées puis détournées de leur fonction initiale, par la mise en place d'un ensemble de contrats liés les uns aux autres ou groupe de contrats et par l'utilisation de la propriété à des fins de sûreté. Cette originalité et cette complexité découlent de l'utilisation intensive de la liberté contractuelle par les parties. La volonté des parties est toute puissante face à une loi lacunaire qu'est la loi du 2 juillet 1966. Ces particularités du contrat de crédit-bail immobilier induisent un régime juridique autonome et original. Ainsi, on observe le rejet des règles relatives aux contrats nommés voisins (contrat de bail, contrat de vente et contrat de prêt). Inversement, on observe l'application de règles particulières en matière de droit commercial, de droit des procédures collectives et de droit fiscal et comptable. L' étude de ce contrat souligne la difficulté de notre droit à intégrer des institutions juridiques originales et complexes de caractère sui generis.

Truss assemblies offer a high stiffness, light-weight option for the construction of aerospace and civil structures. Their more widespread use is currently limited by significant design challenges associated with the nodal joints between struts, particularly in relation to fatigue. The initial focus of this research degree was the multi-partner, DTI funded `Nodal Optimisation of Truss Structures (NOTS)' project, which explored the potential of replacing a conventional metallic panel aircraft rib with a composite truss structure. The role of the author's work within NOTS was to aid the design of the adhesively bonded nodal joint through the implementation of a fatigue test programme. The NOTS project highlighted the need for improved analysis techniques in relation to both bond-line failure and delamination. To address this requirement, a numerical fatigue crack propagation law was developed within the explicit finite element code 'LS-Dyna. ' The law can be used to evaluate whether the crack tip strain energy release rate is sufficient for crack growth to occur and if so, to simulate the rate and direction of growth. The novelty of this work lies in the detailed analysis of the numerical cohesive zone which forms ahead of the crack tip and is critical to the accurate implementation of the fatigue degradation law. The extraction of strain energy release rate from the cohesive zone enables a direct link with the Paris Law for crack growth and experimental parameters obtained from standard fracture toughness specimens. The analysis technique has been validated using models of standard mode I, mode II and mixed mode specimens. It has then been applied to analyse fatigue crack propagation in both an adhesively bonded single-lap joint and the nodal joint developed within the NOTS project. Recommendations have been provided to guide further development of the analysis technique and to enable its integration within the design process

Wind power is one of the most promising renewable energy resources to replace conventional generation which carries high carbon footprints. Due to the abundance of wind and its relatively cheap installation costs, it is likely that wind power will become the most important energy resource in the near future. The successful development of wind power relies heavily on the ability to integrate wind power effciently into electricity grids. To optimize the value of wind power through careful power dispatches, techniques in forecasting the level of wind power and the associated variability are critical. Ideally, one would like to obtain reliable probability density forecasts for the wind power distributions. As wind is intermittent and wind turbines have non-linear power curves, this is a challenging task and many ongoing studies relate to the topic of wind power forecasting. For this reason, this thesis aims at contributing to the literature on wind power forecasting by constructing and analyzing various time series models and spatiotemporal models for wind power production. By exploring the key features of a portfolio of wind power data from Ireland and Denmark, we investigate different types of appropriate models. For instance, we develop anisotropic spatiotemporal correlation models to account for the propagation of weather fronts. We also develop twostage models to accommodate the probability masses that occur in wind power distributions due to chains of zeros. We apply the models to generate multi-step probability forecasts for both the individual and aggregated wind power using extensive data sets from Ireland and Denmark. From the evaluation of probability forecasts, valuable insights are obtained and deeper understanding of the strengths of various models could be applied to improve wind power forecasts in the future.

This study considers Thomas Hoccleve’s role, throughout his works, as a “religious” writer: as an individual who engages seriously with the dynamics of heresy and ecclesiastical reform, who contributes to traditions of vernacular devotional writing, and who raises the question of how Christianity manifests on personal as well as political levels – and in environments that are at once London-based, national, and international. The chapters focus, respectively, on the role of reading and moralization in the Series; the language of “vice and virtue” in the Epistle of Cupid; the moral version of Chaucer introduced in the Regiment of Princes; the construction of the Hoccleve persona in the Regiment; and the representation of the Eucharist throughout Hoccleve’s works. One main focus of the study is Hoccleve’s mediating influence in presenting a moral version of Chaucer in his Regiment. This study argues that Hoccleve’s Chaucer is not a pre-established artifact, but rather a Hocclevian invention, and it indicates the transnational literary, political, and religious contexts that align in Hoccleve’s presentation of his poetic predecessor. Rather than posit the Hoccleve-Chaucer relationship as one of Oedipal anxiety, as other critics have done, this study indicates the way in which Hoccleve’s Chaucer evolves in response to poetic anxiety not towards Chaucer himself, but rather towards an increasingly restrictive intellectual and ecclesiastical climate. This thesis contributes to the recently revitalized critical dialogue surrounding the role and function of fifteenth-century English literature, and the effect on poetry of heresy, the church’s response to heresy, and ecclesiastical reform both in England and in Europe. It also advances critical narratives regarding Hoccleve’s response to contemporary French poetry; the role of confession, sacramental discourse, and devotional images in Hoccleve’s work; and Hoccleve’s impact on literary tradition.

International crimes prosecutions have become more common since 1993, both domestically and at international courts and tribunals. The advance of this norm confronts realist state interests causing debate about the norm's status. Kathryn Sikkink views a norm as cascading when enough states adopt it to cause international influence, without domestic pressure, to procure levels of conformity. This thesis considers the degree of conformity by observing the level of case selection independence to determine whether this norm is cascading. By identifying the jurisdictional and functional elements of case selection independence, I develop a framework for observing the interface between politics and law. While Sikkink errs towards the quantity of international crimes prosecutions, I focus on the quality. This project examines case selection independence at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, the Special Court for Sierra Leone and the International Criminal Court, in Uganda. The project considers whether case selection has become more or less independent at these courts - whether the norm of international crimes prosecution has cascaded or contracted. In observing the various case selection independence elements I attempt to explain the observed cascades and contractions at each court. I then consider whether a cascade or contraction occurred during the period of the courts' collective design and function. The research qualitatively observes a cumulative justice contraction. The research observes a combination of factors affecting case selection independence, including shifts in power dynamics between and among weak and powerful states, increasing state sophistication in international court engagement, a shift in jurisdiction triggering actors and forums, and realist state co-option of norm entrepreneurs via endearing explanation of independence-diminishing policies.
