Abstract:
Bachelor’s and Master’s theses are an opportunity for students to dive deep into a research question and gain in-depth knowledge about a research topic. At the end of a curriculum, theses act as a kind of bridge between the educational stage and work or further study. Thesis supervision is a resource-intensive task and often a critical factor for the quality of a thesis. After decades of experience with different methods, we have developed a concept for continuous thesis supervision and applied it to two specific degree programs at our university, the Bachelor's program in Computer Science and Digital Communication and the Master's program in Software Design and Engineering. Compared to traditional supervision methods, this concept has led to a higher adherence to deadlines and to a higher quality of the final theses. In this paper, we present our findings on different types of supervisors and our concept for continuous thesis supervision, which can be adapted to each identified supervisor type. This concept comprises several methods, intended to inspire other supervisors to choose the set of methods that best suits their needs. We also describe how this concept can be adapted for project-based courses.

Abstract:
The authors have published a number of scientific articles devoted to the quality of research of personnel management systems (HRMS) in bachelor's theses. In this article, the authors used the methodological scientific approach in the study of final qualification works (WQP) of bachelor students of the Department of Personnel Management and Psychology of the Ural Federal University (UrFU). The methodological scientific approach is based on a quantitative analysis of the application of the following components of the research methodology: theoretical sources, scientific approaches, principles and methods. In the presented work, the purpose of the study is highlighted, which consists in the qualitative and quantitative application of the main components of the methodology for the study of EMS. In the work, the authors applied research methods: the case-method of bachelor's theses, the classification method in the form of tables. One of the tables presents the concept of "research" by leading experts in the study of control systems and one of the authors of this article. The following table summarizes the results of the study. The study also revealed that most often graduates choose the direction of "staff labor motivation" and "personnel training and development" in the organization for research and improvement of the EMS. According to the results of the study of the FQP of diploma students, there are conclusions, on the basis of which the authors of the article have developed recommendations for students and teachers to improve the writing of thesis on personnel management for bachelors.

Abstract:
The effectiveness of written feedback in learning is a debatable topic that divides opinion. Many researchers claim that written feedback does not have a significant effect on improving students’ learning achievement. However, many other researchers indicate otherwise. This research aimed to analyze the effect of using focused written feedback (FWF) on students’ writing skills. This research sample consisted of 10 students taught through practice to write a bachelor's thesis proposal. This research employed the equivalent time-series design. Observations were employed in a four-time series. There are four models for the implementation of focused written feedback: task feedback (FT), process feedback (FP), self-regulation feedback (FR), and self-feedback (FS). Then, there are three major questions: what are the goals? (Feed-up), what progress is being made toward the goal? (Feedback), what activities need to be undertaken to make better progress? (Feed-forward). The instruments of this study were written feedback assessment guidelines, and rubrics for assessing writing skills. The researchers had checked both instruments. The result showed that students’ writing skills improved the most in the section where they received the most practice. In conclusion, this study contributed to effective written feedback and provided some implications for lectures.

Abstract:
The American founders used the figure of the bachelor to represent white males who failed to invest liberty with responsibility, only to foster disorder in the ranks of men. They saw the Bachelor's unrestrained sexuality as a source of social disarray and a symbol for the passions that dwelled within all men. They believed that marriage served a positive educative function, and they urged young males to measure up to manhood by settling down into family life and modest citizenship. The founders also relied on the criminal justice system to perform the negative educative function of punishing the unrepentant bachelor and other disorderly men—itinerants, paupers, rapists, sodomites, soldiers, backwoodsmen, Indians, and blacks—with ridicule, stigma, imprisonment, and banishment. My thesis is that the American founders employed hegemonic norms of manhood to encourage consent among most white men and legitimize coercion against those they considered to be disorderly men.

The thesis is one of the graduation requirements that students must take to obtain a bachelor's degree. Each student informatics study program who will carry out the Thesis will do several processes, including the process of registration of titles, guidance, registration of Thesis seminars, Examination and judiciary sessions. The thesis administration process is still running manually, where at the time of title registration, students must fill in the form of thesis title. After that, students will wait for the announcement to find out their supervisor as well as the registration of the Thesis Seminar, the examination, and the Judiciary sessions. Students must come directly to the office with the registration requirements. The process requires a long time so that thesis administration services become less effective. Therefore a website-based Thesis Information System was built which aims to facilitate the thesis administration process of Informatics study programs. Based on black box testing, this system was declared to have run well while testing using the MOS method showed that 95.34% of informatics student respondents, 99.33% of non-informatics student respondents, and 100% of lecturers and admin respondents agreed. Therefore this system is suitable for use. Keywords: Thesis, website-based, black box, MOS.

The thesis is one step that required to be passed by geological students to get a bachelor's degree. The thesis input process was manual since early study program formed in 1958 although has been changed in administration things. There are a lot of problems in administration process due to universities regulation that impacted lecturers and students. The impacts for lecturer are student's supervisor not evenly well distributed, not well connected between the specialization of lecturers and the student's thesis’s topic and still difficult to monitoring student's thesis progress. at the same time, the impact for students is difficult to meet the coordinator. Actually the main problem derived from management administration that not well organized. Management system based on the website is a solution to solve that problem using several function such as limitation for thesis supervisor, monitoring student’s progess and choosing any topic with any lecturer’s competencies independently. The step of this research are observation, interview, collecting support data and developing main system using Waterfall method. Abstract: This thesis is a required scientific work as part of academic requirements at the University. All students must take thesis courses because the thesis is used as one of the prerequisites for students to obtain a bachelor's degree. Generally, students are given time to complete a thesis within one semester or approximately six months. In fact, many students need more than six months to work on their thesis. The research subjects were students who were members or activists of UKM. The cause of student procrastination is the lack of enthusiasm for working on the thesis, difficulty in getting the main book and supporting books, the fear of meeting the lecturers when they want to consult, being embarrassed to ask questions, and lazy to do it. Even among UKM activist students at IAIN Purwokerto (which is now called IAIN Purwokerto) prioritize activities in UKM rather than completing thesis. The results showed that UKM activist students in all majors had moderate procrastination rates based on the following academic procrastination categories: 13% were at very high levels, 20% were at high levels, 57% were at moderate levels, 10% were at low levels, and only 0% of student UKM activists in all majors have low procrastination rates. From these results it can be seen that on average students do procrastination. Keywords: Procrastination, Students, Thesis, Ukm Activists

Abstract:
This article examines the expectation to complete a bachelor's degree among a predominantly low-income, mainly African American, panel of Baltimore youths at the end of high school, at age 22, and at age 28. Across this time, stability is the modal pattern, but when expectations change, declines are more frequent than increases. Although disadvantaged youths and those with limited academic resources from high school are the most prone to give up the expectation to complete college, both factors recede in importance during the transition to adulthood when postsecondary enrollment becomes more salient. Clark's “cooling-out” thesis and Rosenbaum,s “college-for-all” thesis predict a downward leveling of ambition, especially among youths with high expectations and limited resources and those who attend two-year colleges. The results indicate, however, that the expectations of low-resource youths are not distinctively cooled out by the college experience, and, net of other considerations, two-year college attendance is associated more with warming up than with cooling out. Hence, the dynamics proposed by Clark and Rosenbaum do not adequately account for changes in college expectations over the years after high school. A broader framework, situated in life-course ideas, is recommended.

Abstract:
To get a bachelor's degree in college, students are required to complete the thesis final assignments. Generally, students are given time for the preparation of a thesis for 1 semester or approximately 6 months. But many students need more than six months to work on a thesis [5]. This results in the study period of students becoming longer than they should. One of the factors that causes student delays in preparing a thesis is academic procrastination. Academic procrastination is related to student self-efficacy. This research was a correlational study that aimed to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and academic procrastination in University of Sumatera Utara students who were preparing a thesis. According to Steel (2007) procrastination is to deliberately delay the desired activity even though the individual knows that the delaying behavior can produce adverse effects. Academic procrastination is procrastination that occurs in the academic field. Procrastination is carried out in connection with delaying starting and completing a thesis. Academic procrastination is related to the confidence in the student's ability to do the task (in this case the preparation of the thesis). A person's belief in his ability by Bandura (2001) is referred as self-efficacy. The sample of this study was 307 USU students who were preparing a thesis. Data were taken using the scale of self-efficacy which was compiled based on the dimensions of self-efficacy [1] and the scale of academic procrastination based on aspects of academic procrastination [6]. The results of data analysis showed a negative relationship between self-efficacy and academic procrastination of USU's students who were preparing a thesis (r = -0.335, p = 0.000).

Abstract:
The current socio-cultural situation actualizes special attention to values, value orientations and other axiological phenomena that comprise axiological knowledge. The rapidly changing world, and therefore the change of axiological guidelines, is a fundamental issue for higher education. This argues the need for special attention to axiological problems in the context of the organization of higher education, in particular the training of future specialists in foreign philology. It has become more relevant because the Standard of Higher Education of Ukraine for the first (bachelor's) level, field of knowledge 03 Humanities, specialty 035 "Philology" does not actually provide any value component of professional training for future professionals. The research hypothesis is based on the thesis that special value-oriented pedagogical conditions in the process of professional training are a prerequisite for the acquisition of values and semantics experience of future specialists in foreign philology, which creates important prerequisites for the formation of axiological competencies. The proposed study is aimed at determining the level of formation of values and semantics experience among future specialists in foreign philology at the initial and final stages of the experiment. The paper shows the methods that allow to achieve this goal and have practically confirmed the formulated research hypothesis.

Abstract:
In this paper there are results of the bachelor and master theses citing analysis. These students graduated from the Higher mathematics chair of the Russian Technological University in the summer of 2018. In this comparative analysis the dependencies of thesis loan percent on parameters of students, statistical values of their theses are explored. This research is actual because of the progress and development of new informational technologies used in the educational system. Popularity of the text loan detection systems increases. Automatic plagiarism detection systems are intended to make educational process better, the text drawing search easier, to support the copyright laws and academical honesty. The percentage is given by two main Russian plagiarism detection systems: Antiplagiat and Rucontext. Connections between thesis parameters are explored. Advantages of each text loan detection systems are described. In this research there are the results of the pedagogical experiment aimed to analyze statistically the dependencies of the bachelor’s and master’s theses loan percentage which have been got from Antiplagiat and Rucontext systems on the author’s parameters, statistical values describing thesis text. The comparison between statistical results of these systems have been made. The conclusions about their advantages have been presented in the paper. In order to make the comparison methods of the mathematical statistics have been used. Numerical experiment has been provided by means of the packages of the R statistical language. The difference between text loan percentages in the Antiplagiat and Rucontext systems has been analyzed. It has been shown that it grows when length of the text becomes larger. The dependencies of the text loan percentage on the available parameters of the thesis author and text parameters have been presented. The dependencies types are the same for the both systems. Scale of the coefficients in the statistical dependencies is also the same. The difference is in the very set of the parameters: the Rucontext percentage is better described statistically with the sex of the author, the Antiplagiat percentage is described with the type of the higher education (bachelor’s or master’s thesis). Also the dependency of the text loan percentage on the length of the thesis text differs: the Antiplagiat percentage is better described statistically with the number of words but the Rucontext percentage is described with the number of characters. It seems that these differences can be explained with different text search and analyze algorithms. The dependencies between the Rucontext percentage and the Antiplagiat text loan percentage is presented.

Abstract:
The music of the twentieth century is characterized by multidimensional concepts, a variety of composing techniques, a complex content context, which makes it difficult to master the studied material in the lessons of theoretical disciplines of music educational institutions. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the specifics of studying the musical art of the twentieth century within the disciplines of the theoretical cycle of the modern multilevel system of music education. The main method of research was a complex, requiring an interdisciplinary approach (art history, musicology, cultural studies, pedagogy, music pedagogy). The scientific novelty of the study consists in identifying optimal approaches to mastering one of the most difficult periods of composer creativity for students to perceive. As a result, a thesis formulation of the categorical and conceptual apparatus of the studied creative trends, trends and compositional styles with an accompanying illustrative series, both auditory and visual, is proposed. The practical significance of the research lies in the fact that the methodological approaches presented in the work in the study of musical art of the twentieth century will be in demand within the framework of theoretical disciplines at different levels of musical education. The materials are addressed primarily to top-level teachers (bachelor's degree, within the framework of studying the disciplines "History of Foreign Music" and "Music of the twentieth century"), however, they may be in demand, including fragmentary, and in college, and with some adaptation in high schools of music and art schools when studying the composition of the twentieth century centuries.

Abstract:
Materials engineering involves knowledge of the fundamental physics, chemistry and engineering of materials in order to elaborate, develop, and use materials with superior and new properties. The research, development and applications of materials are the major reasons behind the availability, cost reduction, innovations and improvements in all the fields of industry. Master's programs are designed to give you a solid (strong) education in the materials engineering field. Students entering a Master program have already earned a bachelor's degree and have solid acquirement of engineering. The program entails coursework, examinations and an internship or other applied experience. A master report is required to obtain the masters degree based on the researches during the stage. During a Master programme the students learn to approach complex issues from the perspective of different disciplines such as: characterisation of materials, thermodynamics, structurals transformations, technology of materials, properties of surfaces or initiation on research methods. By understanding the properties of materials, materials engineers create new materials with desired properties. Students entering a Ph.D. program have already earned a a masters degree in the field of „Materials engineering". Because of the nature of specialization the Ph.D. program tends to be smaller than master program. The international orientation of the practice stage approaches to of the Erasmus mobilites. A Ph.D. typically demonstrates a person's competence in research. Ph.D. students begin by taking courses and exams, go on to taking advanced seminars and preparing dissertation research. To complete their knowledges, they are continuing by researching, writing and completeing a dissertation thesis. The doctoral-level thesis, is the culmination of a Ph.D. candidate's research into a topic and is the major requirement of earning the doctorate. A doctoral degree is obviously a more advanced degree. However, it is long. Depending on the program, a PhD could take 4-8 years to complete. A PhD programs entails 3 years of coursework and a dissertation. During this these years the independent researchs projects are designed to cover new knowledge in your field and to be of publishable quality. Doctoral study offers the unique opportunity for an individual to develope intensive and prolonged research on a particular topic, which often leads to publication. The present paper presents the association of Romanian and French university teachers to educate students to prepare a Master diploma and to continue with cotutelle doctoral studies in the field of materials engineering.

Abstract:
Introduction The aim of educational institutions in the field of nursing is to educate nurses with the competences to provide high-quality care to their patients, meaning that students need to learn about evidence-based practice and how to translate the knowledge, skills, competency, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviours into daily practice. The bachelor thesis is the ultimate test for undergraduate nursing students to present what they have learned. Objective The aim of this study was to explore undergraduate nursing students’ experiences of conducting clinical projects in their bachelor theses. Methods We used qualitative focus-group interviews to gain a deeper understanding of the students’ experiences of conducting clinical projects in their bachelor theses as an approach to learn about evidence-based practice. The analyses focused on meaning according to Brinkmann and Kvale. Results Eighteen out of 22 eligible students who had chosen to participate in ongoing clinical research projects and write an academic paper as their bachelor thesis were included in this study. The students were all females and divided into three focus groups. The clinical projects were conducted in a public hospital, a private hospital, nursing homes, or within home-care nursing. The analyses showed that conducting clinical projects in the bachelor thesis provided the students with important knowledge for providing evidence-based care and it. motivated them to want to initiate future clinical projects as nurses., They got valuable hands-on experience for how to conduct research, and made the students aware of the importance of keeping themselves updated on the latest knowledge. Conclusion Conducting clinical research projects on a bachelor level provide undergraduate nursing students with important knowledge of how to provide evidence-based nursing care to their patients. Learning how to conduct clinical research projects is also important for motivating future nurses to initiate research aiming to improve clinical nursing practice.

Abstract:
Abstract Near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy is a widespread technology for fruit and vegetable quality assessment. New fields of application of this technology, like mobile food analysis with handheld low-cost spectrometers, increase the demand for chemometric calibration models that are able to deal with multiple products and varieties thereof at once (so-called multi-product calibration models). While there are well studied methods for single-product calibration as partial least squares regression (PLSR), multi-product calibration is still challenging. Conventional approaches that work well for single-product calibration can lead to high errors for multi-product calibration. However, nonlinear methods as local regression and artificial neural networks were found to be suitable E. Micklander, K. Kjeldahl, M. Egebo, and L. Norgaard. Multi-product calibration models of near-infrared spectra of foods. Journal of Near Infrared Spectroscopy, 14:395–402, 2006. L. R. Lopez, T. Behrens, K. Schmidt, A. Stevens, J. A. M. Dematte, and T. Scholten. The spectrum-based learner: A new local approach for modeling soil vis-NIR spectra of complex datasets. Geoderma, 195–196:268–279, 2013. . Preliminary studies in multi-product calibration for quantitative analysis of food with near-infrared spectroscopy showed good results for memory-based learning (MBL) and a classification prediction hierarchy (CPH) M. C. Kopf and R. Gruna. Examination of multiproduct calibration approaches for quantitative analysis of food with near infrared spectroscopy. Bachelor's thesis, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology KIT, 2016. . In this study, three varieties of apples, pears and tomatoes with known sugar content (in ○Brix) are analysed with NIR hyperspectral imaging spectroscopy in the range from 900 nm to 2400 nm. Predictive performance of a linear PLSR model, two nonlinear models (CPH and MBL) and different pre-processing techniques are tested and evaluated. For error estimation, leave-one-product-out and leave-one-out cross-validation are used.

Abstract:
Graduation thesis is an indispensible procedure for each undergraduate, which is crucial for successful graduation, employment, further study and even further development. However, due to most undergraduates’ ignorance of academic writing and the deficiency of current thesis writing course, thesis writing ability can hardly be enhanced and improved, accordingly, few good graduation theses can be produced among undergraduates. As a newly-launched major in recent a few years, translation major (BTI education, i.e. Bachelor of Translation and Interpretation) is also faced up with this problem. Eco-Translatology, a new theory combining ecology and translation studies, holds translation as adaptation and selection, which can also provide important enlightenment for thesis writing of translation majors. This paper, based on Eco-Translatology and current thesis writing course deficiency, aims to explore constructive strategies on how to give effective and efficient thesis writing course in hope of greatly improving thesis writing.

Abstract:
Rene Lerish was born in 1879, graduated from the Maristes School. In 1893 he received a bachelor's degree in rhetoric. In the years 1899-1900 Lerish served military service. In 1902, after graduating from the Faculty of Medicine in Lyon, he worked as an external student. In 1906, Lerish wrote a doctoral thesis on gastric resection for cancer. In the First World War, Lerish was at the front, where, among other things, he headed the school for the improvement of military field surgeons, wrote a number of works on the treatment of fractures, suggested organizing a center for vascular surgery. After the war, Leriche worked in Lyon until 1924, when he received the department of clinical surgery at the University of Strasbourg. In 1937, he took the place of professor at the College de France. Rene Leriche investigated the problem of pain, studied the sympathetic nervous system, including. Leriche developed access to the parathyroid glands, methods of resection of the stomach and treatment of trophic ulcers with varicose veins, periarterial sympathectomy (1913), operations for endarteritis obliterans and post-thrombophlebitic syndrome, described the syndrome of Leriche and proposed a method for its treatment. His work has also been devoted to problems of orthopedics, surgical endocrinology and anesthesiology. Leriche was the author of the concept, which called for restoring not so much the structure, but the function of the affected organ. Returning to Lyon in 1940, he resigned from the post of Minister of Health and until 1952 worked at the Center for Vascular Surgery in Lyon. He was the founder and first president of the European Society of Cardiovascular Surgeons. In 1955, Rene Lerish died. He published about 1,200 scientific papers, including 21 monographs. Leriche was a member of the Paris Academy of Sciences (1945), the National Academy of Medicine and the Academy of Surgery of France (1946), received the title of honorary doctor of thirty foreign universities. In 1958 in France a postage stamp was issued with his name and a portrait on it.

Abstract:
The aim of this research was to analyze the effect of studying a single or double degree in the psychophysiological stress response and academic performance of university students in their bachelor’s thesis defense. We analyzed the autonomic stress response, cortical arousal, subjective distress perception, and the sense of objective and subjective academic fulfilment of 84 single-degree physiotherapy students and 26 double-degree sport sciences and physiotherapy students during their bachelor’s thesis defense. The results showed that the bachelor’s thesis defense was a stressful event for double-degree students, showing an activation of the sympathetic nervous system and presenting a higher autonomic habituation response for the double degree students compared to the single degree students. We found higher mean grades during the whole degree and higher grades in the written and oral bachelor’s thesis academic achievements for single-degree students compared to double-degree students. No significant differences were found between single-degree and double-degree students in subjective distress perception and cortical arousal. No correlation was found between academic performance variables and subjective distress perception, cortical arousal, and autonomic modulation variables. We conclude that the bachelor’s thesis defense produces a large anticipatory anxiety response in single-degree physiotherapy students and in double-degree sport sciences and physiotherapy students. Double-degree students showed higher levels of habituation and adaptability to the stressful event, with a better autonomic response. Academic achievements were significantly higher among single-degree students compared to the double-degree group.

Abstract:
The article examines the procedure and issues of preparation, defence and assessment of graduation papers of students majoring in accounting at the Faculty of Economy of Vilnius College. A graduation paper – a generalization of all study results on which basis the author is awarded a professional bachelor’s degree – is the most important form of student’s independent work that discloses his/her preparedness for work. While preparing and defending a graduation paper, graduates have a possibility to demonstrate the knowledge acquired as well as practical skills. The graduation paper analyses theoretical and practical aspects of the formation and implementation of an accounting policy in a business company; provides conclusions and suggestions for future perspectives. After examining and analysing the preparation and assessment of graduate papers in the accounting study programme at the Faculty of Economics of Vilnius College, it may be claimed that the most popular topics of graduation papers in 2013 were as follows: preparation of a set of financial statements and analysis of indicators; accounting and analysis of fixed tangible assets; accounting and analysis of income. The defence of graduation papers is a public procedure and takes place in a sitting-meeting of a Qualifying Commission appointed by order of the Director of Vilnius College and is assessed in conformity with the procedure laid down in the methodological instructions for study works. Reviewers and the Qualifying Commission evaluated the majority of graduation papers as “excellent” and “good”. In terms of the competences achieved it may be claimed that 92 percent of all the graduation papers were evaluated at the highest (9-10 points) and average (7-8 points) level.
