Abstract:
Maryam Jameelah was born in an American-Jewish family. She migrated to Pakistan on the invitation of Sayyid Abū al-A‘lā Maudūdī after her conversion to Islam. Earlier studies on her conversion have overlooked the fact that before her embracing Islam, she had opted for atheism and Bahaism as well. Moreover, it is also ignored that during her spiritual journey she had also studied Christianity, Confucianism, Hinduism, and Buddhism. Therefore, it is needed to understand why she adopted atheism, Bahaism, and Islam while rejecting other religions. After analyzing various aspects of her life along w

The Bahai Faith originated in 19th century Iran. Since the early days of its inception and up until today, in Iran the followers of the faith have been subject to persecution, carried out under different pretexts. A study of polemical anti-Bahai writings demonstrates that the accusations against Bahais evolved and in fact changed over time. The portrayal of the Bahais as “enemies” was reshaped and adapted time and again to current needs and ideological agendas. Anti-Bahaism, it is argued in this paper, is part of the contemporary political discourse and mirrors the different stages of politica

It has become almost impossible to engage in any useful discussion on global peace or violence without considering the activities of Islamist groups. Some of these groups use religious radicalization as a tool to promote extremism among Muslims across the world. It has been argued that Muslims will reject violence if they are made aware of peace lessons inherent in the Islamic primary sources and recurrent rituals. In view of the above, the study set out to examine peacebuilding avenues and values in Islam as a religious tradition; and to explore how Islamic recurrent rituals such as Hajj can
