Abstract:
This study addressed the traits and characteristics that Turkish students deem most important in a long-term romantic partner. We collected quantitative and qualitative data on characteristics desired in romantic partners from students attending Bahçeşehir Üniversitesi in Istanbul, Turkey. Like our previous cross-cultural studies conducted in Japan, Russia and the United States, results supported dependability and love as the most important traits. Overall, positive internal attributes were rated as highly important and we recommend the traits associated with the positive psychology movement be more fully considered in future studies on mate preferences.

Abstract:

Abstract:
PURPOSE The Turkish Bahçeşehir Breast Cancer Screening Project was a 10-year, organized, population-based screening program carried out in Bahçeşehir county, Istanbul. Our aim was to examine the biologic features and outcome of screen-detected and interval breast cancers during the 10-year study period. METHODS Between 2009 and 2019, 2-view mammograms were obtained at 2-year intervals for women aged 40 to 69 years. Clinicopathological characteristics including ER, PR, HER2-neu, and Ki-67 status were analyzed for those diagnosed with breast cancer. RESULTS In 8,758 screened women, 131 breast cancers (1.5%) were detected. The majority of patients (82.3%) had prognostic stage 0-I disease. Contrarily, patients with interval cancers (n = 15; 11.4%) were more likely to have a worse prognostic stage (II-IV disease; odds ratio [OR], 3.59, 95% CI, 0.9 to 14.5) and high Ki-67 scores (OR, 3.14; 95% CI, 0.9 to 11.2). Interval cancers detected within 1 year were more likely to have a luminal B (57.1% v 31.9%) and triple-negative (14.3% v 1%) subtype and less likely to have a luminal A subtype (28.6% v 61.5%; P = .04). Patients with interval cancers had a poor outcome in 10-year disease-specific (DSS) and disease-free survival (DFS) compared with those with screen-detected cancers (DSS: 68.2% v 98.1%, P = .002; DFS: 78.6% v 96.5%, P = .011). CONCLUSION Our findings suggest the majority of screen-detected breast cancers exhibited a luminal A subtype profile with an excellent prognosis. However, interval cancers were more likely to have aggressive subtypes such as luminal B subtype or triple-negative cancers associated with a poor prognosis requiring other preventive strategies.

Abstract:

Abstract:
In this study, sociological analysis of public profiles of Democrat Party deputies who served years between 1950 and 1960 as a ruling party deputy by using elite theory has been planned. Before sociological analysis of deputies clarifying the complex structure of first event is needed. To achieve this firstly some basic concepts explained by using general fictions. We will set our work foundation over basic ideas of political sociology on Politics, democracy, powers, the political elite and the intellectual foundation concepts. After creating the conceptual and fictional background of the subject the historical background of the period before Adnan Menderes and his Democrat Party's ruling time has been analyzed. As a sample Group Democratic Party Deputies have been selected who served years between 1950 and1960 under Grand National Assembly umbrella from research universe consist of Turkish political elite. A set of data has been created by using "Spatial Analysis Technique" on the basis of background of the political elite has been used. Parliament's institutional records, publications and websites, especially by examining the parliament albums, since 1950, the year he took over the ruling period have been evaluated and used. These data sets were analyzed by using SPSS. Analysis of 1323 deputies have been planned from the perspective of social indicators like education level, age, foreign language they know, gender and place of birth under the light of generated data in the period of three course term. When the political elite as a result of the study evaluated the required properties for the Democratic Party deputies to be born in Istanbul, he should be more educated university graduates. In other sociological characteristics, to be young and middle-aged, gender and family status in the context of male, married, with three children to outweigh. If the analyzed period, as Turkey that lack of a college education is considered the country's first university graduate of Istanbul University attorneys are frequent. Law graduate to be, people who manage to know at least one foreign language and civilian bureaucrats seem to be dominant in parliament as in the DP.

AKYILDIZ, Nihal Arda. "Biyofilik Tasarım Konulu Lisansüstü Tezlerin Bibliyometrik Analizi." Kent Akademisi, March 21, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.35674/kent.1137707.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract:
Bu makale, Osmanlı Devleti’nin Hariciye Nazırı Mustafa Asım Turgut’un kızı, Devlet Güzel Sanatlar Akademisi mezunu Türkiye’nin ilk kadın mimarlarından ve Akademi Mimarlık Şubesinin ilk kadın akademisyeni Yüksek Mimar Leyla Asım Turgut’a dairdir. Çalışmanın temel amacı, kadın/mimarlık tarihine dair yapılan çalışmalara, Leyla Asım Turgut biyografisi ile katkı sağlamaktır. Leyla Asım Turgut figürü üzerinden 1940 ve 1950’ler Türkiye’sinde kadın mimarların erkek mimarlarla aralarındaki cinsiyete dayalı mesleki iktidar ilişkilerini sorgulamak bu makalenin üzerinde durduğu bir başka noktadır. Metnin yazılmasını kolaylaştırıcı unsur, Leyla Asım Turgut’un tıpkı Avrupa’daki aristokrat aileler gibi aile geçmişi ve kendi kişisel geçmişine dair kayıtları koruyarak özel arşivini oluşturmasıdır. Bu arşivin bir kısmını vasiyetinde, Mimar Sinan Güzel Sanatlar Üniversitesi İstanbul Resim Heykel Müzesi ve İstanbul Kitaplığı Çelik Gülersoy Vakfı’na bağışlamıştır. Metnin oluşumunda literatür taramasının beraberinde bu iki kuruma devredilen Leyla Turgut Terekesindeki, fotoğraflardan ve arşiv malzemesinden yararlanılmıştır. Fotoğrafların arkasına el yazısı ile yazılmış özel notlar biyografinin kurgulanmasında kolaylaştırıcı, hatta biyografinin doğruluğunu sağlayan unsur olmuştur. Anahtar Kelimeler: Erken Cumhuriyet Dönemi, Kadın, Mimar, Leyla Asım Turgut This article is about Master Architect Leyla Asım Turgut, the daughter of Mustafa Asım Turgut, the Foreign Minister of the Ottoman Empire, a graduate of the State Academy of Fine Arts, one of the first female architects in Turkey and the first female academician of the Architecture Department of the Academy. The main purpose of this study is to contribute to the study of women's/architecture history through the biography of Leyla Asım Turgut. Questioning the gendered professional power relations between female and male architects in 1940s and 1950s Turkey through the figure of Leyla Asım Turgut is another point that this article emphasises. What facilitated the writing of the text was the fact that Leyla Asım Turgut, like aristocratic families in Europe, created her own private archive, preserving records of her family history and her own personal history. In her will, she donated part of this archive to the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Istanbul Painting and Sculpture Museum and the Istanbul Library Çelik Gülersoy Foundation. The photographs and archival material from the Leyla Turgut Terekesi, which have been transferred to these two institutions, have been used in the preparation of the text. Special handwritten notes on the back of the photographs facilitated the construction of the biography and even ensured its accuracy. Keywords: Woman, Architect, Türkiye, Early Republican Period, Leyla Asim Turgut.

Abstract:
Abstract:
TEOMAN DURALI’NIN DARVİNCİ EVRİM ve DARWİNİZM ELEŞTİRİSİ Teoman Duralı’s Critique of Darwinian Evolution and Darwinism Esra KARTAL SOYSAL Dr. Öğretim Üyesi, Marmara Üniversitesi, İnsan ve Toplum Bilimleri Fakültesi, Felsefe Bölümü Assistant Prof., Marmara University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Philosophy Department İstanbul, Turkey esra.kartal@marmara.edu.tr ORCID: 0000-0002-0985-7196 Öz Bu çalışmada Ş. Abstract In this article, Ş. Teoman Duralı’s critique of Darwinian evolution and Darwinism which derives from it, that is the central base of the science and philosophy of biology, will be structured through four partially overlapping categories. First of all, for Duralı, since it does not fulfill the requirements of being a theory scientifically Darwinian evolution is a hypothesis rather than a theory, but it provides an indispensable usefulness for the science of biology. Secondly, Duralı argues that transcendence cannot be eliminated from the system at least philosophically, even if it is not the subject of science, against the fact that Darwinian evolution, which grounds an immanent process that is its own principle without reference to any transcendent being, renders the transcendent realm unnecessary and even invalidated over time. Thirdly, as a continuation of the understanding of transcendence, Duralı goes to the distinction between man and human being, which he inherited from the tradition of Islamic thought, and claims that evolution can only explain man not human being and explaining human being can only be handled with the understanding of tekâmul which Muslim philosophers tried to put forward between the 8th and 18th centuries. In particular, he takes a holistic attitude by standing firmly against the reduction of human being as the most complex living being to man. Lastly, Duralı argues that the assumptions and practices of the ideologies (especially capitalism, communism and national socialism) that originated from Darwinism derived from Darwinian evolution and then fed it back should be carefully separated from the evolution hypothesis, because they are incompatible with Darwinian evolution. With all his presuppositions and criticisms, Duralı is neither pro-evolutionary nor anti-evolutionary. He finds evolution a functional backbone as a scientific hypothesis, but also makes suggestions for solving the problems clustered around it. Keywords: Darwinian evolution, hypothesis, tekâmul, transcendence, man, human being, Darwinism.

"News from the European Journal of Therapeutics: A new issue and a new editorial board." European Journal of Therapeutics, June 23, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.58600/eurjther.20232902-edit2.y.

Abstract:
Dear Colleagues, In the previous editorial paper published by Balat et al. [1] as an Early View Article a few months ago, it was reported that there were changes in the Editorial Team of the European Journal of Therapeutics (Eur J Ther). During these few months, while the preparations for the new issue (June 2023, volume 29, Issue 2) continued, the editorial board also was revised. We would like to inform you that the Editorial Board has been strengthened by academics who are competent in their fields from many countries of the world and will continue to be strengthened in the future. As it is known, Eur J Ther started broadcasting in 1990 as a Journal of the Faculty of Medicine University of Gaziantep (In Turkish: Gaziantep Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Dergisi). In the first paper titled “While Starting” (In Turkish: Başlarken) of the first issue, Prof. Sabri Güngör, who was the first Editor-in-Chief, stated that the aim of the journal is to have an influential place in the field of science [2]. Over the past three decades, the journal has continued to advance. At the present time, it is inevitable to reorganise the editorial board of the journal and enrich it with leading international editors in order to move the journal to better places. This editorial will explain essential developments in the journal in the last few months, and the new Editorial Board Members of the Eur J Ther will be introduced. Changes are inevitable, and we are delighted to announce that this issue marks several significant improvements. Specifically, we bolstered our editorial team with esteemed international academics and expanded our pool of referees. Consequently, the evaluation period for the submitted articles was significantly reduced. In the last two months, the journal metrics are as follows: Acceptance rate: %29 Average time until the final decision: 24.4 days Average time to publish as Accepted/Early View Article, after acceptance: 4.8 days. Thanks to these improvements, as you will notice, there are 25 articles in this issue. In this way, this issue has been the issue in which most articles have been published so far. In addition, applications were made to DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) and BASE (Bielefeld Academic Search Engine), among the most essential open-access databases in the world, in May 2023. Moreover, cited references to the previous and/or alternative names of the journal (Gaziantep Medical Journal, Gaziantep Med J, Gaziantep Tıp Dergisi and Gaziantep Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Dergisi) in Web of Science that were not reflected in the journal metrics were identified and reported to the Web of Science. Some of these correction requests have been finalized and corrected, and thus the total number of citations and the H-index of the journal increased [3]. After all these data are updated, it will be seen that the citation values of the Eur J Ther will increase even more. We will also update the guidelines for the authors and reviewers with respect to the ICMJE [4] and EQUATOR Network [5], which will enhance the quality of research in the medical fraternity. Additionally, the use of DOI for articles published in the journal started in 2011 (2011, volume 17, Issue 2). In order to facilitate the recognition and access of the articles, DOIs have also been defined for all articles published in previous issues.
