Mass trapping is an environmentally safe alternative to insecticide application for the Mediterranean fruit fly management. The selection of effective trap-attractant combinations for monitoring and mass trapping control remains challenging. The current study explored the attractiveness of trapping devices during spring (early season) and summer (late season) in field cage trials. Five trapping devices were assessed: (a) the commercially available Decis® trap, (b) Tephri trap baited with Biodelear, (c) Tephri trap baited with BioLure, (d) International Pheromone McPhail trap (IPMT) baited with

Abstract:
The spotted-wing drosophila (Drosophila suzukii) is an invasive pest of soft fruits worldwide. It is one of the most significant pests affecting fruit and grape production in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Over two years, we investigated the effectiveness of different attractants: apple cider vinegar, apple cider vinegar + red wine, red wine vinegar, and Dros’Attract® (Biobest) in attracting spotted wing drosophila. The study was conducted in a sour cherry orchard (Prunus cerasus L.) at the Rodoč (Mostar) site. Traps baited with Dros’Attract® captured D. suzukii earlier in the growing season and in g

Abstract:
Agricultural practices are essential for modern civilization and have significantly contributed to population growth in recent years. Food production depends heavily on the natural environment; however, pests can severely damage crops and are often difficult to control. This emphasizes the urgent need for effective pest control measures to protect agriculture. One common way to manage insect pests is by using traps. These traps typically employ bait to attract insects, often consisting of sexual pheromones or food, and they have a mechanism that captures the insect when it attempts to enter. T

Biotope or habitat preferences are important species characteristics that can be used for understanding their ecology, as well as their conservation, and even as a tool for crime investigations for detection of post-mortem body manipulation. However, the characterization of species habitat preferences can be difficult. There are several limiting factors like lack of quantitative data and reliance on anecdotal evidence for this trait. Further, we must consider the reaction to the border between two neighboring habitats. These ecotones are important biodiversity hotspots in the landscape, which

We estimated both abundance and distribution of white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) on the Brandywine Valley unit of First State National Historical Park (FRST) and the Brandywine Creek State Park (BCSP) during 2020 and 2021 with two widely used field methods ? a road-based count and a network of camera traps. We conducted 24 road-based counts, covering 260 km of roadway, and deployed up to 16 camera traps, processing over 82,000 images representing over 5,000 independent observations. In both years, we identified bucks based on their body and antler characteristics, tracking their move

Abstract:
The Goldenville horizon in the Baie Verte Peninsula is an important stratigraphic horizon that hosts primary (Cambrian to Ordovician) exhalative magnetite and pyrite and was a chemical trap for younger (Silurian to Devonian) orogenic gold mineralization. The horizon is overlain by basaltic flows and volcaniclastic rocks, is intercalated with variably coloured argillites and cherts, and underlain by mafic volcaniclastic rocks; the entire stratigraphy is cut by younger fine-grained mafic dykes and coarser gabbro. Lithogeochemical signatures of the Goldenville horizon allow it to be divided into
