Abstract:
This article focuses mainly on three texts by the polish poetry Eugeniusz Tkaczyszyn‑Dycki that refer to baroque poet Józef Baka: Baka uwodzi Stefanię Dycką (Baka Seduces Stefania Dycka) Baka winny istnieniu Stefanii Dyckiej (Baka Guilty of Stefania Dycka’s Existence) Stefania Dycka poruszona widokiem Baki (Stefania Dycka Moved by Seeing Baka). We should remember that Dycki’s speech is centered around loss, so it is an attempt to invent a language that could bear the heterogeneity of death. To avoid slipping into silence, the author updates the old Polish tradition of funeral poetry, particularly the “black carnival” of late‑Baroque writer Józef Baka, which provides a specific ma‑ trix of meaning, of the way to communicate with oneself and with the reader. The subject of the analysis are therefore references to the threads of Baka’s poetry, which have been transformed in Dycki’s poetic discourse.

Abstract:
Abstract The article explores the structure and use of the existential verb baka in Rural Palestinian Arabic for the introduction of orientation sections and fragments in narrative discourse. In clause-initial position the existential verb presents a non-inflecting form, either the 3MSG perfect baka or the MSG active participle bāki. We argue that the noninflectability of baka and bāki is indicative of their syntactic detached-ness from the following unit and is explained by their discourse-disjunctive function. We show that the existential baka/bāki serves to introduce both narrative-initial and narrative-embedded orientation. It may initiate utterances containing simple nominals or whole clauses. The distribution of the specific patterns is determined, inter alia, by the genre of the narrative told. Finally, we propose that the preference of the participle bāki over baka in folktales and in less committed instances of personal narratives may be related to the evidential function of the active participle in the dialects under examination.

Abstract:
The diversity of languages in Indonesia is one of the advantages possessed by Indonesia as a multicultural and multilingual nation. The variety of languages speakers use is not the same; changes occur in various languages because speakers of a language usually make contact or relationships with speakers of other languages and occur over a long period. The comparative method is one of the methods used to compare languages in detail and systematically to prove historical or historical relationships between these languages. Comparative studies are always related to lexicostatistical calculations called internal reconstructions. This research is classified as descriptive research. In this study, the data were explained to obtain an adequate description of the research object without any manipulation or treatment of the subject and research object. The subject of this research is Balinese folklore with the title I Kedis Cangak (Pedanda Baka), which can be found on the page https://www.komangputra.com/av/kedis-cangak The technique used in this study is note-taking, in which the author carefully reads the folklore I Kedis Cangak (Pedanda Baka) and then notes every word that has something in common with Indonesian. The results of this study were the number of syllables, sound patterns, affixes, and basic word patterns in the folklore I Kedis Cangak (Pedanda Baka). The results of this study are the similarities and differences between BB and BI at the phonological level. These similarities and differences relate to the type and number of phonemes, diphthongs, clusters, and syllable patterns in BB and BI.

Abstract:
Spatial system is fundamental in any language. This makes each language has spatial system which in some extent distinctive one another. Study of spatial system commonly found within cognitive linguistics area which takes preposition as object of study as the present research does. Banjarese, as one of local languages in Indonesia, indicates a unique spatial system by having particular spatial particles. Data collection is based on the questionnaire where the respondents are 153 native Banjareses. The result shows that Banjarese have eight spatial prepositions which classified into three categories based on the vector direction. Preposition di, where it is used excessively, is a placement preposition where there is no movement in the configuration. On the other hand, source and goal directive preposition carry vector from and toward the LM respectively. Source-directive prepositions are di, dari, matan, and pada. Meanwhile, goal-directive prepositions are ka, taka, baka, and ampah. Particular spatial expression such as hulu (upstream), hilir (downstream), laut (sea), and darat(land) are found generated from river life. All these four spatial particles are based on river stream direction. Hulu and hilir take horizontal relation toward river while laut and darat are perpendicular to river line that extends further or nearby toward river.

Abstract:
The purpose of study were to describe process of formation of reciprocal verbs and the meaning of reciprocal verbs in Minangkabau language in the Kecamatan Patamuan Kabuapten Padang Pariaman. This research data in the form of words, phrases, and from oral sources in the form of public speech in Kecamatan Patamuan Kabupten Padang Pariaman. The findings of this research are: First, the process of forming a reciprocal verb consists of, (1) the formation pattern of affixation ie, the prefix of the base form (v / n / a), the prefix ba- + the basic form + the suffix -an, the baka- the basic form (v / n / a), the basic shape prefix (n), the basi- morpheme + the basic form (v), and the standard- (basic) base morpheme (v), (2) the reduplication forming pattern, (v) + prefix of maN- + the basic form (v), the basic shape prefix (v / n / a) + suffix -an, and (3) the basic shape reduplication + the suffix -an, and (3) the pattern formation of the composition of the basic form (n) + adjectives. Second, the meaning of the reciprocal verbs is twofold (1) the act states the active activity and (2) the state states the activity is done in a passive way. Abstract:
Aims: Pycnanthus angolensis (Welw.) Warb. also known as “Etengué” in the Baka language, is a medicinal plant used by the Baka Pygmies of Cameroon to treat erectile dysfunction. This study aimed to evaluate the androgenic activity and subchronic toxicity of the aqueous extract of Pycnanthus angolensis wood. Study Design: Experimental design. Place and Duration of Study: Laboratory of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University of Yaoundé I, between November 2022 and October 2023. Methodology: Twenty-five male Wistar strain rats were divided into 5 groups of 5 rats each including a positive control group that received testosterone enanthate (5 mg/kg) intramuscularly once a week; a normal control group that received distilled water (10 ml/kg) and three test groups which received 134 and 267 and 533 mg/kg of the aqueous extract of Pycnanthus angolensis daily per os. On the 29th day, the animals were killed, and several biochemical parameters were assessed for androgenic properties. Results: At a dose of 134 mg/kg, the extract significantly increased (p<0.05) the levels of testicular cholesterol, testosterone and serum prostatic acid phosphatase activity compared to those of the normal control. A toxicity study showed that at doses of 134 and 267 mg/kg, the extract did not induce any significant variation (p>0.05) in the creatinine level, but a significant reduction (p<0.05) in of aspartate and alanine aminotransferase activities was recorded. Histopathology revealed destruction of testicular spermatozoa at a dose of 533 mg/kg compared to that of the controls. Conclusion: These results showed that at a dose of 134 mg/kg, the aqueous extract of Pycnanthus angolensis (Welw.) Warb. wood is capable of stimulating the production of androgens and is tolerated by the rat's body. Our results justified the traditional use of this plant for the treatment of male infertility and erectile dysfunction.

Abstract:
This paper is aimed to describe modality and adjunct in spoken text of proposing girl using Waijewa language. Modality refers to degrees of indeterminacy. It is to construe the region of uncertainty that lies between ‘yes’ and ‘no’. It refers not only to verb modal but also to modality idea. Thus, modality is manifested into two ways, namely modalization and modulation. The use modality grammar enables people to emphasize what can or cannot be done on what is ordered or offered. Data informing this study were from observation by recording oral texts of proposing a girl happened in Wewewa community. These data then were transcribed and analysed based on systemic functional grammar. The results showed that the use of modality was realized simultaneously by verb such as baka amiko-ngga dede wa kadanu … ‘I will come to take my handbag…’. The use of modality showed varieties of probabilities and obligation. Modalization tended to be uttered by bride’s party whereas modulation by groom’s party. This fact indicated interpersonal relationship in which groom’s party took a position as humble as possible in speaking and usually agreed everything stated or asked by bride’s parents. While bride’s party was dominant in speaking. This condition was influenced by honour value as one of the six values in this text. The use of adjunct related to mood adjunct that covered modal adjunct such as probability, usuality, obligation, obviousness, intensity, and polarity; and comment adjunct such as admissive, desiderative, entreaty, evaluative, opinion, predictive, persuasive, and presupposition.

Abstract:
The aim of this study is to examine in what way teachers in upper secondary school who teaches non-language centered courses uses scaffolding within the theoretical context of language-based learning to support their students’ learning. The study will also examine if there is a difference depending on what subjects the teacher is licensed to teach in. The main methods used are observations and audio recordings of three different teachers during a total of six lessons. The material also consists of interviews with the observed teachers to give additional information about the teachers’ backgrounds and thoughts about language-based learning in relation to their teaching methods. The study is based on a sociocultural and cognitive approach along with the principles of scaffolding based in genre-based pedagogy and Jim Cummins’ theory on how to achieve language proficiency within a school-based contexed and its specialised domains. The results show that all teachers use scaffolding by creating an extensive context for learning within each domain. This contextual scaffolding helps the students learn the new language domain. The teachers also show variations in how they scaffold depending on the subject and student group with more abstract subjects being provided with more concrete exemplification. The conclusions drawn from this is that teachers use scaffolding to help students build the field of the domain and provide scaffolding according to the different subjects and student groups' current conditions and need for cognitive challenges.

Paulin, Pascale. Thesis, Lyon 2, 2010. http://www.theses.fr/2010LYO20077/document.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis proposes a detailed analysis on the dynamic of change observed among the Baka from Gabon, a hunter-gatherer community. This group is composed of less than 1000 individuals speaking an Ubangian language inside a Bantu environment. By comparing their language with others from the same linguistic sub-group, some singularities from Baka and some resemblance with the Monzombo sub-group can be seen. These two ethnolinguistic groups, Baka and Monzombo groups, seem to have kept close contact based on skill exchanges (hunting/gathering and fishing/iron skills). This interaction is witnessed in the exchanges the Baka population preserves with their current Bantu neighbors, especially with Fang in Gabon.Nowadays, the Baka way of life is still characterized by their mobility and the forest. Nevertheless, due to a non-migratory lifestyle imposed by the State, the proximity with the Fang group and the growing globalization, dramatic changes are inflicted to the Baka community. Changes at which they are trying to adapt. These constraints do not affect only their language (system and use) but also many sociocultural habits such as settlement, mobility, food and means of support or religion. The aim of this thesis is to identify these ongoing transformations, to describe and to evaluate their impact bearing in mind the singularity of many contexts. An argumentative reflection on categorization principles is also proposed on lexical domains such as fauna, flora and diseases. Certain changes could arise without necessarily questioning their bonds to the forest and ancestral values. Nonetheless, both exogenous (globalization and a sedentary life) and endogenous pressures (individual behavior and culture transmission) determining the progress of different transformations should not be under evaluated as being a threat to the language, to the knowledge of the flora and fauna and to certain sociocultural practices

Jewell, Rhianedd Mair. "Constructing the self in language and narrative in the work of Grazia Deledda." Thesis, University of Oxford, 2012. http://ora.ox.ac.uk/objects/uuid:75b1dcc0-efac-48c7-baca-e6f45d60e725.

Abstract:
This thesis examines the presence of modernist ideas regarding identity, language and narrative in the work of the neglected Sardinian author, Grazia Deledda (1871-1936). It has the overall aim of redefining Deledda’s later work as modernist for she has been disregarded by most critics and is generally classed as a minor, veristic writer. Drawing Deledda out of these restricted interpretations, this thesis demonstrates that Deledda straddles two literary modes, for she matures beyond veristic influences and looks forward to modernist ideas, particularly regarding the complex nature of the self. The thesis approaches Deledda from an entirely new perspective in that it focuses upon the crisis of identity in Deledda’s work, and its construction in the narrative of her novels, and its integral relationship with the theme of language. The theoretical framework of Julia Kristeva, Paul Ricoeur and Adriana Cavarero enables an innovative study of identity as a linguistic and narrative construct in Deledda’s work. I maintain that Deledda’s characters construct, control and understand their identities through their application of language or their command of narrative perspective, voicing their inner selves through linguistic self-expression. This study engages in a close textual analysis of three of Deledda’s key texts. La madre (1920) and Il segreto dell'uomo solitario (1921) illustrate Deledda’s movement away from verismo. Their protagonists suffer a crisis of identity which is bound up in linguistic expression and/or narrative control. Cosima (1937), which is Deledda’s most autobiographical text, displays the author’s close affinity with her writing. Creating a fiction of her own life, Deledda becomes both narrator and protagonist, self and other in the exploration of her own identity, which is integrally connected to the act of writing. The very composition of this text demonstrates the construction of identity in language and narrative which is illustrated within Deledda’s other works.

Bačka is a flat and rich region in Vojvodina inhabited by numerous population in villages and towns, and criss-crossed by roads and railways. It is bounded by natural and artificial borders. The natural border of Bačka consists of rivers: the Tisa next to Banat (eastern border), the Danube next to Srem (southern border) and the Danube again next to the neighbouring country Croatia (partially in the South and West). Different national minorities live in Bačka and they cherish their own culture, tradition and architecture. Nowadays, in this beautiful plain, there is a small number of people who still deal with old crafts and artisanship. A craft denotes a skill (usually the manual one), but also a profession, which includes the whole process of making unique items mostly using simple tools. Crafts are usually based on traditional knowledge and technologies, but at the same time the creativity and innovativeness of the artisan play a significant role. Furthermore, what is partucular for crafts is the use of natural materials in the production process (wood, leather, clay, glass, textile, metal and the like). On the territory of Bačka, a lot is done to develop and sustain the  distribution of old crafts products. These various ways of support include the Internet  portals, the participation of artisans in exhibitions and old crafts fairs in Bačka and abroad as well, and events where consumers are informed about the importance of developing and sustaining the old crafts. The research on the territory of Bačka confirms the following hypotheses: old crafts do not pollute the environment, there is a gender differentiation among the people who deal with old crafts, old crafts are more cherished by national minorities, the initiatives of entrepreneurs represent an important way of support for the old crafts, and old crafts enhance tourism.Old crafts shops such as candy-maker's, candle-maker's, peasants' footwear maker's, brush-maker's and coppersmith's used to be found everywhere, whereas nowadays there  are very few of them. Although dealing with these professions is no longer profitable, in Bačka there are still artisans who save these old crafts from oblivion out of sheer love.

In this work, the efficiency of selected thiazole derivatives in  the inhibition of corrosion of copper in the acidic sulfate solution is determined in  the function ofthe inhibitors  concentration by weight loss method,  electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and potentiostatic polarization. The dependence of the inhibition efficiency of temperature and kinetic parameters of the process of corrosion ofcopper  as well as  adsorption isotherm model  according to which takes place the process of adsorption of inhibitors and the corresponding thermodynamic parameters were also  determined by polarization measurements.  A process of electrochemical copper  dissolution and  adsorption of tested inhibitors is followedin situ  by  quartz crystal microbalance  measurements Changes in the morphology of the copper surface due to the effects of corrosive environment and the solutions of the  inhibitors were studied by SEM/EDX analysis. The experimental results were correlated with theoretical calculations at the density functional theory level.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The goal of the research presented in this paper is to formally specify approaches to transformation of database specifications between different data models. The transformations are then to be implemented and tested using a CASE tool for modelling information systems and databases. Following this goal, a methodological approach is defined together with a software named IIS*Ree that provides a high level of automation of the information system reengineering process. The IIS*Ree software, developed in accordance to MDSD principles, generates database schemas specified in a target, conceptual or implementation data model, as well as application prototypes.

Abstract:

Korpus književnih tekstova, književna
produkcija štampe u periodu od šest godina, njen
prikaz u celini, iziskivao je jedan širi
istorijski i kulturnoistorijski osvrt na
prethodni period. S jedne strane, u velikim crtama
su predočeni počeci manjinske mađarske štampe na
ovim prostorima u međuratnom razdoblju ,a s druge
strane prikazano je osnivanje listova i časopisa u
novoj socijalisti-čkoj državi. Predmet proučavanja
su činili sledeći listovi: subotički Híd,
pokrenut maja 1934. kao društve-ni, književni i
kritički časopis, koji je ponovo pokrenut 1.
novembra 1945.

službi aktualne politike i vladajuće ideologije.
U vrlo važna izdanja posle 1945. spadaju narodni
priloga: pesme, novele, pripovetke i to u vreme
godine.
U vidu priloga, sastavni deo disertacije
čine Bibliografija književnih priloga u
periodici i Bibliografija posebnih izdanja. Pored
spominju u radu.
Rezultali istraživanja i proučavanja ukazuju

Abstract:
AbstractThis chapter – co-authored by two Kanak knowledge holders (a clan chief and a singer-songwriter) and two European researchers (from political science and geography) – discusses how Kanak communities deal with cultural heritage in the present, in a context of colonial legacies, institutional conservatism and depleting natural resources. We focus specifically on the communities of Bako and Touaourou in Paicî Cèmuhi and Drubea-Kapumë countries, respectively. We first analyse colonial policies of land dispossession and cultural oppression, as well as the ongoing inadequate support for Kanak languages from school institutions. We then discuss the ways in which grassroots initiatives testify to resilient and resurgent spaces for Kanak languages and cultural heritage in such contexts, by taking the example of (1) the work of the Agency for the Development of Kanak Culture (ADCK) to record oral histories, myths and toponyms as important identity markers and (2) Kaneka music as a contemporary transmitter of Kanak languages and cultural practices. In addition to the collection of toponyms in Kanak communities, Kaneka music is popular amongst young people and elders. Bands such as Humaa-gué from Touaourou provide songs engaging with colonial history, Kanak cultural life and practices, the mining industry and current sociopolitical issues. We draw the conclusion that the educational institution responds inadequately to Kanak needs, and initiatives undertaken by Kanak people at the grassroots level are key to the continuance of Kanak languages, cultural heritage and practices.

Abstract:
The social and linguistic profile of Romania after 1989 has been increasingly multicultural. This phenomenon does not only occur in specific states. Definite and defining intrusions of other cultures in various countries in Europe and on other continents are diagnostic of the existential shape of humankind in the third millennium. The trend has altered all the social sectors in which it became manifest, transforming even, or especially, the level of language. One could claim, without it being an overstatement, that all the speakers of a nation or most of them use an “impure” language, as they “stain” the given historical language with lexical “intruders” without which communication would be suspended. To be a valid speaker of the new millennium one should think, speak and behave multiculturally. We are corporate employees of words, the interface between the conservation of locality and the expansion of multitasking. We behave like citizens of the cyberspace not only when working on online platforms, but also in our day-to‑day existence, which proves that we are three-dimensional individuals. This paper aims at observing and quantifying (qualitatively and quantitatively) the extent to which multiculturalism has infiltrated a certain field of material life in Baia Mare on the onomastic level, i.e. restaurants, as outlets for assumedly gourmet food. The article explores whether one can talk about pure onymic multiculturalism (determining the degree of coexistence of lexical oppositions) or whether the national avatar was eliminated and the borrowed element in the name has been established unequivocally (the novel element). The author uses the methodology specific to linguistics, onomastics and cultural studies.
