Abstract:

Nous étudions ici deux problèmes diophantiens distincts. Le premier concerne les points entiers sur les courbes modulaires associées au normalisateur de sous-groupe de Cartan non déployé. Le deuxième concerne la recherche de point de multiplication complexe sur les droites. Dans les deux cas la méthode de résolution est algorithmique. On utilise la méthode de Baker sur les formes linéaires en logarithmes ainsi que des méthodes de réduction effectives. En particulier cette méthode permet d’obtenir les points entiers sur la courbe associée au normalisateur de sous-groupe de Cartan non déployé pour les niveaux compris entre 7 et 71<br>We study here two diophantine problem. The first one deals with integral point on modular curves associated to normalizer of non-split Cartan subgroup. The second one is about finding singular moduli on straight line. In both cases, we solve theproblem in an algorithmic way. We use Baker’s method on linear form in logarithm and some effective technical of reduction. In particular this method gives integral points on the curve associated to normalizer of non-split Cartan subgroup for level between 7 and 71

Abstract:

Cette thèse se divise en deux parties. La première est consacrée aux points entiers sur les courbes modulaires, et l'autre se concentre sur les courbes elliptiques à couplages.Dans la première partie, nous donnons quelques majorations effectives de la hauteur des j-invariants des points entiers sur les courbes modulaires quelconques associées aux sous-groupes de congruence sur les corps de nombres quelconques en supposant que le nombre des pointes est au moins 3. De plus, dans le cas d'un groupe de Cartan non-déployé nous fournissons de meilleures bornes. Comme application, nous obtenons des résultats similaires pour certaines courbes modulaires avec moins de 3 pointes.Dans la deuxième partie, nous donnons une nouvelle majoration du nombre de classes d'isogénie de courbes elliptiques ordinaires à couplages. Nous analysons également la méthode de Cocks-Pinch pour confirmer certaines de ses propriétés communément conjecturées. Par ailleurs, nous présentons la première analyse heuristique connue qui suggère que toute construction efficace de courbes elliptiques à couplages peut engendrer efficacement de telles courbes sur tout corps à couplages. Enfin, quelques données numériques allant dans ce sens sont données.

Abstract:

Psychobiographies examine an entire full life, from birth to death, with the aim of understanding the psychological development of that life. Psychobiographical research is a qualitative method of research, and is done by the use of both biography, and the application of relevant psychological theory. While the scientific merit of this type of research continues to be questioned and debated, interest in this area of research continues to grow on both a national, and international level. This particular research study aimed to explore the extraordinary and inspiring life of slave, dancer, singer, lover, soldier and mother, Josephine Baker (1906 – 1975), by applying Alfred Adler’s (1929) theory of personality namely, Individual Psychology. Josephine Baker was chosen by means of purposive sampling. The research study made use of a qualitative psychobiographical research method, which aimed to explore and describe the lived life and personality development of Josephine Baker, in terms of Alfred Adler’s (1929) theory of Individual Psychology. The data collection for this research study made use of a framework, as a means of selecting relevant data which formed a matrix, which in turn became a descriptive framework to organise and integrate the data (see Appendix A). The analysis thereof was done by the means of analytic generalisation (Yin, 1994). To assist in identifying salient data, analytical criteria namely, Alexander’s (1988) guidelines for the extraction of salient data were utilised (see Appendix B). This model also assisted in ensuring an accurate and complete description of Josephine Baker’s life in relation to the psychological theory used namely Alfred Adler’s theory of Individual Psychology. The findings of the study indicate that Josephine’s life paralleled Adler’s (1929) theory in many ways, and also indicated that the person she became was also strongly influenced by many familial, social, historical and cultural events of the time. This study has therefore shown that to date, there is still great value and relevance in Adler’s (1929) theory of Individual Psychology, even though it was proposed and developed almost a century ago. Consequently, recommendations regarding further psychiobiographical research in this area in the future have been made.

<p>RAMANATH, RAJEEV. Interpolation Methods for the Bayer Color Array (under the guidance of Dr. Wesley E. Snyder)Digital still color cameras working on single CCD-based systems have a mosaicked mask of color filters on the sensors. The Bayer array configuration for the filters is popularly used. This requires that the data be interpolated to recover all the scene information. Many existing interpolation (demosaicking) algorithms that can reconstruct the scene use modifications of the bilinear interpolation method, intro-ducing a variety of artifacts in the images. These algorithms have been investi-gated. A new method for restoring these color images using an optimization method known as Mean Field Annealing is introduced using a variety of image prior models. Their performance relative to existing demosaicking methods is included.<P>

Abstract:

O presente trabalho de projeto consiste na elaboração de um plano de negócios de uma fábrica de bolos e salgados, onde o seu principal objetivo é analisar a sua viabilidade económico-financeira. Para isso, elaborou-se um plano de negócios viável, com criação de emprego, estabelecendo parcerias locais, analisando a concorrência e verificando a sustentabilidade do projeto. Tendo como base a metodologia utilizada, apurou-se um valor atual líquido de 115.581€, uma taxa interna de rendibilidade de 97,60%, e elaborou-se uma análise de risco tendo por base o método de Monte Carlo, onde se verifica que existe 79,45% de probabilidade de o negócio apresentar resultados positivos. Com base nestes três indicadores conclui-se que o negócio apresenta viabilidade económico-financeira; Business Plan – Delicious Bakery Abstract: The present project work consists in the elaboration of a business plan for a cake and salty pastries factory, where the main objective is to analyse the economic and financial viability. For this, a viable business plan was created, with the creation of new jobs and local partnerships, analysing the competition and verifying the project’s sustainability. Based on the methodology used, was determined a net present value of 115.581€, an internal rate of return of 97,60%, and a risk analysis was carried based on the Monte Carlo method, where it turns out that there is 79,45% probability of the business showing positive results. Therefore, based on these three factors, we can conclude that the business has economic and financial viability.

Abstract:

Bacillus cereus has been responsible for several food poisoning outbreaks involving high moisture-high pH (aw ~ 0.98, pH ~ 8.8) English-style crumpets. Two novel methods, involving sorbohydroxamic acid (SHA) and mastic essential oil (MO), were evaluated for their potential to inhibit the growth of this pathogen and other selected spoilage and foodborne pathogens in high moisture, high pH English-style crumpets.<br>While sorbic acid only controlled the growth of B. cereus at pH 5 and 5.5, SHA proved effective at all pHs and concentrations under investigation. MO also failed to inhibit the growth of B. cereus when added directly to agar plates.<br>Products were unacceptable when counts increased from 103 CFUIg to 106 CFU/g or sensory scores reached <3 on a scale of 5. Only SHA (0.3% w/w) proved effective in high pH crumpets. (Abstract shortened by UMI.)

Abstract:

In this research, initial studies were done to determine the effect of various methods of presentation involving chemical preservatives, water activity ($ rm a sb{w}$), and modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) on mold growth in an agar model system. Results showed that preservatives could completely inhibit mold growth for 2-40d depending on concentration and pH used. Gas packaging (60% or 80% CO$ sb2$), oxygen absorbents, alone or in combination with potassium sorbate, could also inhibit mold growth for $>$40d at ambient storage temperature using a Response Surface Methodology (RSM) approach.<br>The effects of various methods of applying potassium sorbate into pizza crusts via direct incorporation into the batter, surface spraying, and impregnation of packaging material with potassium sorbate to control mold spoilage of pizza crusts were also investigated. Results showed that the antimicrobial effect of potassium sorbate was negligible when the packaging material was impregnated with the inhibitor but more pronounced when it was incorporated directly into the dough or sprayed onto the product's surface. The inhibitory effect of potassium sorbate increased as both the pH and the inoculum level decreased.<br>Shelf life studies using low concentrations of potassium sorbate (1000 and 2000 p.p.m.) and MAP, alone and in combination with each other, showed that potassium sorbate, gas packaging or oxygen absorbents (Ageless FX) could extend the shelf life of pizza crusts and decrease the growth rate of molds, bacteria and yeast. Furthermore, when pizza crusts were packaged in 60% CO$ sb2$ or with an oxygen absorbent, in combination with potassium sorbate (1000-2000 p.p.m.), a shelf life of 42d was possible without compromising the sensory shelf life of the product. Bakery SMEs, the activities of which have not yet been standardized, usually perform activities inefficiently, unnecessarily extending production times. The current average productivity of Lima-based SMEs is 1.7, a figure that, when compared with countries in the Pacific Alliance, is low. In addition, currently no methodologies seek continuous process improvement. Therefore, a Lean Process Management model was established to reduce activities and times. As validation, a production time simulation was performed in a warehouse, increasing the productivity to 2.08, with a percentage variation of 87.39% when compared with the initial productivity.

<p>Den problemformulering som ligger till grund för studien är: I vilken utsträckning arbetar de svenska bankerna med styrverktygen under kredituppföljningen av små företag? Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka i vilken utsträckning bankerna arbetar med de styrverktyg som kan användas under kredituppföljning av små företag, samt hur användningen av dessa påverkas av bankens relation med företaget. Detta görs genom att beskriva bankernas arbetssätt under kredituppföljningen, undersöka i vilken utsträckning styrverktygen används samt kontrollera om det finns några samband mellan relationen och styrverktygens användning. Studiens problemformulering besvaras genom en kvantitativ metod och empirin har samlats in genom enkäter som besvarats av respondenter på Swedbank, Nordea, SEB, Handelsbanken och Danske Bank. Resultatet från undersökningen visar att de svenska bankerna följer upp sina krediter till små företag minst en gång per år men att det sker oftare för vissa typer av företag. Redovisningsinformation är det styrverktyg som bankerna använder i störst utsträckning under kredituppföljningen, och relationen mellan banken och företaget kan i olika utsträckning påverka hur styrverktygen används.</p>

Abstract:

In the bakery industry, it is sought to have zero defective products. It is in the packing; where it is evident, as the last area of the production chain, all the defects generated. Therefore, a combined redesign method is proposed, which consists in the use of Economy of Movement, Ergonomics, Poka Yoke and Method Engineering to reduce defective products in SMEs in the bakery industry. The losses of these generate a reduction of 29.50% for crushed bread and 19.67% of bread on the floor, reducing with the use of this method to 16.20% and 8.38% respectively.

Abstract:

A total of 100 isolates of Streptococcus dysgalact iae from bovine mastitis infections was used to evaluate and compare the biochemical reactions of the gram positive Combo Type 6 panel on the MicroScan autoSCANR system to a conventional procedure for identification of streptococci. Of the 100 isolates, 83.3% was identified as "Very Rare Biotype" by the MicroScan and classified as S. dysgalactiae by conventional methods. Of the remaining 16.7%, MicroScan identified 3.3% as Streptococcus morbillorum, 3.3% as Aerococcus viridians, 3.3% as Streptococcus constellatum/milleri, 1.7% as Streptococcus agalactiae, 1.7% as Streptococcus mitis, 1.7% as Streptococcus sanguis, and 1.7% as Streptococcus intermidis/rni 1 leri. The identification of bacteria other than Very Rare Biotype can be attributed to code profiles listed in the MicroScan which demonstrate biochemical reactions similar to S. dysgalact iae. The antimicrobial susceptibility of 94 S. dysgalactiae isolates to 16 antibiotics was determined by the MicroScan system. Of the antibiotics tested, each demonstrated greater than 85% susceptibility against the 94 strains of S. dysgalactiae. Of the 16 antibiotics used in the MicroScan, nine were compared to the standard Kirby-Bauer method and/or results obtained from the literature. S. dysgalactiae was reported as sensitive to penicillin on 89.4% of the strains tested by the MicroScan, 98.4% by the Kirby-Bauer method, and 98.0% by the literature references. In testing 94 strains for susceptibility to gentamicin by two methods, MicroScan resulted in 98.0% comparability to literature values but 83.6% to the Kirby-Bauer technique. The other antibiotics tested on the MicroScan and compared to the Kirby-Bauer and/or literature values illustrated a comparison of greater than 90%. In this study, 36 isolates of S. dysgalactiae demonstrating resistance to tetracycline, single, and multiple antibiotics were analyzed for plasmids. The evidence of plasmids was not detected as analyzed by agarose gel electrophoresis. All 100 isolates of S. dysgalactiae, with the exception of one, were tested serologically for the presence of C antigen. Each isolate tested was classified as a Group C streptococci. Each of the 100 isolates was stored in 5% sheep red blood cells at -20°C for one year. Each isolate was revived, with the exception of one, and demonstrated characteristic streptococcal colony morphology. The storage recovery rate was 99% and is an acceptable storage method for streptococci.

Abstract:

<p>Basel II kommer att få positiva effekter inom banksektorn, bland annat för att bankerna genom mer riskkänsliga metoder att beräkna kreditrisk kan sänka sin kapitalbas utan att samtidigt sänka kapitaltäckningsgraden under den lagstadgade nivån. Det medför att bankerna får större möjligheter att differentiera villkoren för enskilda krediter än tidigare utan att detta påverkas av reglerna för kapitaltäckning. Det innebär i sin tur att konkurrensen inom banksektorn ökar.</p><p>Den nya lagen innebär att kapitalkraven för kreditrisk minskar generellt, men mest för banker som utvecklar egna interna riskhanteringsmetoder (IRK) och banker med hög andel hushållslån (inklusive bostadslån) i sin kreditportfölj.</p><p>I takt med att mer riskkänsliga metoder utvecklas och en ökad riskprövning sker på engagemangsnivå, får bankerna incitament att finna olika lösningar på kundens behov. Resultaten kommer att bli ökad konkurrens, större specialisering och ökad differentiering av krediter.</p><p>Ökad konkurrens innebär att kundens ställning förbättras. Ett mer differentierat utbud av krediter kommer att medföra större valmöjligheter för bankernas kunder. Bankerna blir samtidigt mer selektiva och väljer bort kunder som inte är önskvärda ur risksynpunkt. Kunder med dålig återbetalningsförmåga och sämre säkerheter kommer att få svårare att få krediter eller sämre villkor.</p><p>Även om mindre banker i någon mån missgynnas av att schablonmetoden är mindre riskkänslig än interna riskklassificeringsmetoder (IRK) är det inte en så stor nackdel att det påverkar deras konkurrenssituation. De två sparbanker som studerats har en mycket god soliditet, och en kapitaltäckningsgrad som väl överskrider lagens krav. De nya reglerna kommer att ytterligare höja kapitaltäckningsgraden för kreditrisk – allt annat oförändrat. Genom den årliga interna kapitalutvärdering kan dessutom även små banker utnyttja kvalificerade metoder för att beräkna sin samlade risk, och därigenom vid behov sänka sina kapitalkrav.</p><p>Möjlighet för små banker att utnyttja de interna ratinguppgifter som stora banker förfogar över genom sina interna riskklassificeringsmetoder skulle dock förbättra de små bankernas konkurrenskraft.</p>

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the estimation of the market value of the company, which has long been active in the bakery market. The aim of this diploma thesis is to find the market value of JIZERSKÉ PEKÁRNY spol. S.r.o., which would reflect the real situation on the bakery market. The conclusion of the thesis should be a range of values and justification. The diploma thesis is divided into financial analysis, strategic analysis, value generators, financial plan and final evaluation. The first part of the thesis deals with the analysis of the valued company and selected competitors. Financial analysis attempts to justify the amount and changes of values, including comparison with competitors and the value creation test. The strategic analysis focuses on the internal and external potential of the valued business. In terms of internal potential, especially in comparison with competitors, the external potential emphasizes the description of the position of the valued company in the Czech Republic market. The financial plan is based on the analysis and prognosis of the value generators. The final valuation method uses standard yield valuation methods and, in a simplified version, valuating in accounting value.

Den teknologiska utvecklingen har under de senaste decennierna fått en allt större betydelse i samhället. Som en naturlig följd av detta har bankernas verksamhet förändrats, bland annat genom ökat utbud av tekniska tjänster och produkter. Tidigare studier påvisar att människans beteende har förändrats i takt med samhällets utveckling och måste idag vänja sig vid att allt mer kommer att hanteras via de teknologiska distributionskanalerna. Dessutom menar forskare på att banker inte kan stanna upp med sitt förändringsarbete idag utan bör ständigt analysera hur den teknologiska utvecklingen kan tillfredsställa dess organisation samt kunder. Det vi har undersökt i denna C-uppsats är hur bankernas förändringsarbete ser ut med tanke på den teknologiska utvecklingen. Banker har tidigare inte varit snabba med att genomföra förändringar utan de har snarare varit trögrörliga. Därmed uppkom intresset att studera hur banker agerar vid den teknologiska utvecklingen. Vilka förändringar som bankerna genomför, vilka tjänster och produkter som lanseras samt vilka tjänster och produkter som tas bort. Det som är intressant är hur förändringsarbetet ser ut och om det finns skillnader och likheter mellan de olika bankerna. Syftet med vår studie är att belysa hur den teknologiska utvecklingen påverkar förändringsarbetet i olika banker och vilka skillnader och likheter som finns. Vi har använt oss av en hermeneutisk forskningsfilosofi och en kvalitativ metod. Detta valdes eftersom vi ville få en djup förståelse för hur förändringsarbetet ser ut i dagens samhälle. Beslut om förändring tas av personer som innehar en högt uppsatt position inom banker. Men för att skapa en djup förståelse för deras förändringsarbete har vi intervjuat personer som sitter med i ledningen och medarbetare.<br>Technological development has in recent decades become increasingly important in the community. As a natural consequence, banks' activities changed, partly through increased range of technical services and products. Previous studies indicate that human behaviour has changed as society and must now get used to more and more will be managed via the technological distribution channels. In addition, scientists believe that the banks can’t stay up with the change management today but should constantly analyse how technological developments can satisfy its organization and customers. There we have investigated in this thesis is how the banks change looks like, given the technological developments. Banks have previously not been quick to implement changes but have been rather sluggish. Thus arose the interest in studying how banks operate at the technological development. What changes that banks perform, the services and products being launched and what services and products are removed. What is interesting is how the change process looks like, and if there are differences and similarities between the different banks. The purpose of our study is to illustrate how technological developments affect the change process in different banks and what differences and similarities there are. We have used a hermeneutic research philosophy and a qualitative method. This was chosen because we wanted to get a deep understanding of how the change process looks like in today's society. The study has been limited to three banks in Southern Sweden, since a larger study would not have been possible in this short time. Decision to change taken by persons who hold a senior position within the banks. But to create a deep understanding of their changes, we have interviewed people who sit in the management and employees.

Neste contexto, o presente trabalho aborda os aspectos mais relevantes do setor de panificaÃÃo nacional e fornece uma visÃo dos aspectos gerenciais, mercadolÃgicos e econÃmicos da empresa de panificaÃÃo cearense. Ã abordada, tambÃm, a diferenÃa entre Sistemas, MÃtodos e Formas de custeio, evidenciando as caracterÃsticas fundamentais dos principais mÃtodos de custeio, com destaque para o ABC. Demonstrando que a metodologia baseada em atividades (mÃtodo ABC) Ã uma forte aliada na gestÃo da entidade.<br>The bakery industries consist in a food segment with differentiated performance, a time that the industry and commerce activities are grouped. These industries are passing for an intense process of transformation in order to adapt themselves to the global market, which is more competitive each day. Ahead of this scene, the bakery industries had assumed a new position front to the competition, diversifying mix of products, adapting themselves to a bigger flexibility of the productive processes and investing in quality, hygiene and attendance. In this context, this work presents the most important aspects of the bakery national sector , and supplies a vision of the managemental, marketing and economic aspects of the bakery companies in CearÃ. It is also demonstrated the difference between Systems, Methods and Forms of expenditure, evidencing the basic characteristics of the main studied and used methods of expenditure world-wide, with prominence for the ABC. In the last part of the work it is presented a case study, approaching a simulation of the method of Activities Based in Coast (ABC), in a bakery company in CearÃ , evidencing a detailed vision of the process characteristics of the bakery production , making possible a clear vision of the connection resource-activity-product and allowing a performance of the managers in order to optimize processes and its results. It demonstrates that the activities based on coast (ABC method) is very important to the company management.

Abstract:

Les expressions resultatives anglaises sont des structures de phrase a deux predicats dont le second (un adjectif ou un groupe prepositionnel) exprime le resultat de l' action denotee par le premier (un verbe). La traduction de ces expressions vers le francais met parfois en jeu une restructuration importante de l'enonce. Nous etudions les differents types de traduction et les proprietes linguistiques anglaises qui permettent de les selectionner. Dans la traduction en chasse-croise, qui est le cas le plus complexe et courant, le predicat resultatif anglais devient le verbe prin cipal de la phrase francaise et le verbe devient un complement circonstanciel de moy en ou maniere. Nous etudions comment de telles recategorisations fonctionnent afin de permettre un traitement automatique. La methode de traduction automatique "shake and bake" permet un traitement purement lexical de la traduction. Nous presentons en detail son fonctionnement et nous presentons un traitement de la traduction des er. Afin d'ameliorer la compositionnalite, nous proposons l'addition d'un mecanisme nou veau au formalisme "shake and bake" qui, dans sa version de base, impose d'importan tes contraintes sur la compositionnalite de la traduction. Le traitement propose per met une grande economie de moyens au niveau bilingue car il ne requiert l'addition d'aucune entree lexicale. Il peut, en outre, s'appliquer a la traduction avec restru cturation et ou recategorisation d'autres types d'expressions<br>English resultatives are sentences with two predicates the second of which (an adjec tive or a prepositional phrase) denotes the result of the process the first one (a verb) states. Translating such sentences into french may involve important structu ral changes. Various types of translations are studied as well as the linguistic pro perties of the english sentence that allow proper selection of the type of translation. The most common and complex type of translation is a case of head switching with category changes : the english result predicate translates into a main verb and the english verb into a modality manner adjunct clause. In order to allow automatic processing, the mecanisms of such category changes are studied. Shake and bake is a lexical approach to machine translation. Its mecanisms are explained in detail and a treatmentof the translation of resultatives is proposed. To allow increased compositionality, we propose an extension to the formalism since plain shake and bake puts restrictions on compositionality. As a result, translation of resultatives can be implemented in a very economical fashion that doesn't require new bilingual lexical entries. Furthermore, the proposed treatment can apply to other types of translations that involve important changes in structure and or category
