Abstract:
The article considers the justification of its own theoretical approaches to accounting and balance policy on the basis of legal, scientific, and theoretical positions of their organization and proposes author definitions of the terms "accounting policy" and "balance policy".The authors prove that the concept of "accounting" and "balance" policy coincides in part, at least in the word "politics". Although the content of these concepts covers common elements, we argue that each of these concepts also includes components that are not elements of another concept. It is stressed that these concepts can not be identified in any way.

The international order have been changed during the modern and contemporary history, and however those changing in international order doesn't go to beyond several concepts such as " balance of power";" conflict"; "power" and " threaten", which all those are depending on the fundamentals or basic terms which was called " power" or" hard power". In this time, we can say that the political relations among the effective units could be analyzed according to the concept of " balance of threaten" instead of the classic concept which had called " balance of power" that the scholars used to describe the international relations . In conclusion , the concept of " balance of threaten" has a significant importance in the studies of the international relations especially after the attack of 11 september at the U.S.

Abstract:
Current research suggests that there are complex interactions between intrinsic factors related to the individual and extrinsic environmental factors, all of which contribute to falls in the older adult. A new approach to balance assessment, the task-oriented conceptual framework for clinical intervention, takes into account many of these intrinsic and extrinsic variables in assessing balance function. It contains three levels of assessment of balance and gait function: performance-based functional assessment, strategy assessment, and impairment assessment. This approach quantifies performance on functional tests of balance, determines the strategies used by the individual to carry out functional tasks, and evaluates the relative contribution of specific neural and musculoskeletal variables to normal postural control. Results of recent experiments suggest that older adults who are given a sensory training program that is designed to improve the organization of sensory inputs contributing to balance control (strategy level) are able to significantly improve sway and that this training effect transfers to other balance conditions.

Abstract:
Introduction. The history of accounting has always been directly dependent on the needs of users of such information. It was they who formed the queries for the financial statements that formed the basis of the management decision-making process. This historical process has contributed to the emergence of various balance theories. The assets of the company were recorded in the balance sheet for several stakeholder groups. It is the understanding of the dialectic of the formation of such requests that determines the process of displaying the assets of the enterprise. purpose. The purpose of the article is to study the genesis of balance theories and to determine the list of factors that influenced the understanding of the essence of the assets of the enterprise. A historical approach to research allows you to identify trends and predict the formation of approaches to balance in the future. Metods. To achieve this goal, scientific methods were used, both at the empirical and theoretical levels of research. The methods of analysis were used to compare the determination of the essence of static and dynamic balance theories in different scientific calculations. The historical method was used to understand the logic behind the development of these theories. Modeling and abstraction techniques have been used to address different situations related to the display of assets in different theoretical constructs of the balance sheet. Results. The article discusses the development of static and dynamic balance theory in the context of the doctrines of different scientists and gives a critical analysis of the trade- offs. The dominant influence of conflicting interests of different groups of users of accounting information on the formation of variants of dynamic and static balances is proved. For the first time, the peculiarities of reflecting assets in general and intangible in particular, within the legal and economic concepts of the theories under study are identified. The risks that compromise approaches to forming the domestic balance are identified and the ways of overcoming them are identified. Discussion. In order to increase the level of objectivity and materiality of the asset information presented in the financial statements, it is necessary to search for trade-offs between legal and economic concepts within separate balance theories. Studies have shown that attempts to synthesize the balance theories themselves and to bring them together into a single accounting document run into claims from users who have different interests. Consideration of issues regarding the priority of forming a balance sheet for the benefit of stakeholders allows to state the necessity of reporting on a specific purpose: solvency, investment attractiveness, etc.

Abstract:
Balance is an integral part of most movement activities, but assessing its contribution to overall movement performance and identifying possible balance deficits poses a complex problem. Although almost all of the adapted physical education textbooks published in the last 10 years include a section on balance, adapted physical educators need a more in-depth understanding of the issues related to the assessment of balance and postural control that presently may be gained only by going directly to the extensive research base that cuts across many fields of inquiry. Thus the purpose of this paper is to (a) provide a brief overview of the current knowledge base related to balance, with an emphasis on balance deficits, and (b) describe the types of tasks used to assess balance, discuss some problems involved in evaluating balance in adapted physical education, and provide some suggestions on how to improve balance assessment procedures in adapted physical education.

The unifying notion of material force which gathers under one vision all types of driving “forces” on defects and smooth or abrupt inhomogeneities in fracture, defect mechanics, elastodynamics (localized solutions) and allied theories such as in electroelasticity, magnetoelasticity, and the propagation of phase transition fronts, is reviewed together with its many faceted applications. The presentation clearly distinguishes between the role played by local physical balance laws in the solution of boundary-value problems and that played by global material balance laws in obtaining the expression of relevant material forces and devising criteria of progress for defects, in a general way. The advances made along this line, which may be referred to as Eshelbian mechanics, are assessed and perpectives are drawn.

Reinhard Selten and Thorsten Chmura (2008) recently reported laboratory results for completely mixed 2 X 2 games used to compare Nash equilibrium with four other stationary concepts: quantal response equilibrium, action-sampling equilibrium, payoff-sampling equilibrium, and impulse balance equilibrium. We reanalyze their data, correct some errors, and find that Nash clearly fits worst while the four other concepts perform about equally well. We also report new analysis of other previous experiments that illustrate the importance of the loss aversion hardwired into impulse balance equilibrium: when the other non-Nash concepts are augmented with loss aversion, they outperform impulse balance equilibrium.

Abstract:
Body water and electrolyte balance are essential to optimal physiological function and health. During exercise, work, or high temperatures, a significant level of dehydration can develop, and the ratio of extracellular to intracellular fluid can change, despite an ample supply of water. Physical and cognitive performance are impaired at 1-2% dehydration, and the body can collapse when water loss approaches 7%. Because fluid needs and intakes vary, formulating one general guideline for fluid replacement is difficult. Knowing the amount of water lost in sweat may enable predicting fluid needs via mathematical models for industrial, athletic, and military scenarios. Sodium imbalance might result from excessive Na+ loss or from gross o verity dration. In most work or exercise lasting < 3-4 hr, the major concern is that fluid be available to prevent heat-related illnesses, which can be prevented if fluid and electrolyte losses are balanced with intake, using the recommendations presented.

Abstract:
The problem of macroeconomic equilibrium as a theoretical basis for monetary policy has been considered. In this regard, the concept of long-term equilibrium and money neutrality has been criticized. The position on the non-equilibrium nature of economic development has been supported. As a result, it has been concluded that it is impossible to switch to a neutral monetary policy, and therefore to establish a neutral key rate. The interest theory of K. Wicksell, his concepts of monetary and natural interest rates has been characterized. The futility of attempts to quantify the neutral interest rate has been shown. It has been concluded that the absence of radical changes in monetary policy carries with it the risk of permanent economic stagnation.

Five stationary concepts for completely mixed 2x2-games are experimentally compared: Nash equilibrium, quantal response equilibrium, action-sampling equilibrium, payoff-sampling equilibrium (Martin J. Osborne and Ariel Rubinstein 1998), and impulse balance equilibrium. Experiments on 12 games, 6 constant sum games, and 6 nonconstant sum games were run with 12 independent subject groups for each constant sum game and 6 independent subject groups for each nonconstant sum game. Each independent subject group consisted of four players 1 and four players 2, interacting anonymously over 200 periods with random matching. The comparison of the five theories shows that the order of performance from best to worst is as follows: impulse balance equilibrium, payoff-sampling equilibrium, action-sampling equilibrium, quantal response equilibrium, Nash equilibrium. The colors should be bright then, provided the wearer is not too large. The colors, in a costume, should be so distributed that a balance is achieved. When the top is light, the other part may be dark but the darkness should be present in the lighter area as a contrast. One should always keep in mind that the wearer should be the centre of interest and the costume a background. In order that the costume may be beautiful its color should be balanced or keyed and the entire color scheme should be related to the coloring of the individual. The aim in choosing colors for individual types should be to select those which will bring out the persons best points and subdue the less attractive ones.

Abstract:
The Taiwanese central government views city-county consolidations as an effective method to strengthen national competitiveness and to balance regional development. But for local governments, consolidation presents a series of planning challenges, especially in relation to the reconstruction of planning concepts and discourses in their new territories. Aiming to understand the process, this study first proposes a typology of regional planning concepts as a conceptual tool to explore whether and how the consolidated governments (re)construct their urban-rural planning concepts, and then it examines the factors that may influence (re)conceptualisation through a comparative study of Taichung City and Tainan City. The research results show that overemphasis on using the concept of competitive city regionalism to balance regional development at the national level may lead to a widening of rural-urban disparities at regional and local levels.

SummaryA mechanistic model of dairy cow metabolism is described. The model was constructed as part of a programme directed toward quantitative and dynamic analysis of concepts and data regarding factors which influence the partition of nutrients in lactating dairy cows. Sensitivity and behavioural analyses undertaken using the model indicate that concepts and data arising from tissue level experiments conducted in vitro can be used to structure and parameterize whole-animal models since the quantitative and dynamic behaviour of such a model is acceptable. These analyses indicate further that such models can be used to evaluate factors which influence patterns of nutrient utilization. By way of illustrating the model's utility regarding evaluation of concepts relating to the interpretation of energy balance experiments, results of a simulated energy balance experiment are presented. Apparent costs of milk synthesis are partitioned among biosynthetic costs, physiological costs, ion transport costs and the reductions in energy expenditures in synthesis of body components which accompany increasingly negative energy balances due to feed restriction.

Abstract:
Abstract Commercial transport aircraft developed today are defined to balance all requirements foreseen for the short or medium term. Best engineering knowledge as much as minimum business risks consistently lead to the so-called ‘classic’ aircraft configuration. This balanced approach is efficient but can also inhibit innovative practices. Ensuring a sustainable growth in the aviation sector may require radical changes in the way we design and operate aircraft. Started in April 2005, NACRE is a four-year European research and technology integrated project, partly funded by the European Community under the Sixth Framework Programme, which aims at integrating and validating technologies that will enable the potential of new aircraft concepts to be assessed. In order to explore the most relevant capabilities and meet the widest range of challenges, the NACRE R&T project has identified a set of concepts tailored to address specific subsets of design drivers: • The Pro-Green aircraft concepts putting a major emphasis on the reduction of environmental impact of air travel; • The Passenger-driven Aircraft concepts aiming at optimised payload and appreciable quality of future aircraft for the end users; • The Simple Flying Bus, which puts the biggest emphasis on low manufacturing costs and minimum cost of ownership. Irrespective of what final future product configurations might ever look like, the NACRE aircraft concepts act as basic vectors, encompassing all the expected capability developments. The general project objectives are thus to use these concepts in order to: • Explore alternative routes for the major aircraft components (fuselage, wing, engine integration) better suited to their specific targets and which would have been rejected in a balanced approach; • Provide better answers to the full range of requirements by developing and, in some cases, validating the associated envelope of innovative component designs and associated technologies. NACRE is by essence a focused multidisciplinary approach. It does not concentrate on one specific aircraft concept, but it is aimed at developing solutions at a generic aircraft component level, which will enable the results to be applicable for a range of new aircraft concepts. For each of the major aircraft components, the multidisciplinary investigations will require an exploration of the different associated aspects of aerodynamics, materials, structure, engines and systems with the goal of setting the standards in future aircraft design, thus ensuring improved quality and affordability, whilst meeting the strengthening environmental constraints (emissions and noise), with a vision towards improving significantly the global efficiency of the air transport system.

Abstract:
Aesthetic appreciation of pictures partly depends on the perceptual balance of their elements. This relation has also been supported by objective measures predicting balance ratings as well as preference. Gershoni and Hochstein, however, applied these measures to Japanese calligraphies and failed to find such a relation, which questions the generality of these balance concepts. In our first experiment, we, therefore, tried to replicate these results with a slightly different method. In addition, we calculated further balance measures and collected liking ratings. As result, perceptual balance was again uncorrelated with the measures and with liking. In a second experiment, participants assessed the perceptual stability of the calligraphies, which was considered as alternative concept of balance, and their prototypicality. After discounting the effects of prototypicality on liking, there were correlations between liking and stability and between liking and one of the balance measures. However, the correlations were reliable only for atypical calligraphies.

Formulation of the problem. Taking into account the tendencies of globalization of financial markets and economic relations as a whole, as well as the causes and consequences of the global financial crisis, the study of balance of payments balances become more and more relevant. The purpose of the research is to justify the theoretical basis of the formation of the balance of payments; studying the concepts and models of regulation of the balance of payments of the state; definition of structural elements and clarification of the macroeconomic value of the balance of payments; substantiation of directions of balancing the balance of international settlements; studying the impact of macroeconomic policy on the country's balance of payments; the formation of a strategy for reducing the deficit of the balance of payments. The object of research is the model of regulation of the balance of payments of the state. The methodological basis of the study was the methods and principles of the scientific knowledge of general and special methods and techniques used in the regulation and definition of the structural elements of the balance of payments. The hypothesis of the research is the assumption that for Germany's prosperity, analyzing the structure of GDP by industries over the past ten years, in the future it is necessary to focus on the development of those industries in which employment slightly decreased over the analyzed period. The statement of basic materials. The article deals with the origin of the concept of "balance of payments" in its modern sense. We studied countries that were forced to publish the balance of payments due to the emergence of inflationary processes. The trade balance of Germany in the conditions of crisis and post-crisis development of the world economy is investigated. The originality and practical significance of the research. It should be noted that in the scientific world there is a discussion on determining the main factors and the nature of their impact on the balance of payments of the country, as well as the causes of deficits in the balance of payments. Conclusions of the research . In this paper, approaches to a comprehensive assessment of the equilibrium of the balance of payments of the states are proposed on the basis of comparative analysis of the three groups of indicators. According to the results of the approbation of this approach, the balance of payment balances of the world's largest economies was assessed.

Abstract:
AbstractThe main role for researchers and organizational theorists is to translate their statements and principles into practical tools applicable in the management activity. Sometimes, these tools used in managerial practice are not rigorously developed and applied, some eventually contradicting the initial assumptions. However, most of the times, the concepts go through a natural cycle of developing, harmonizing and refining their own statements and demonstrations, with the support of the authors and / or other researchers. Also, the manifestation in management of any action that claims the increase of the performances in the financial or non-financial fields must be accompanied by a set of measuring and evaluation tools. Robert Kaplan and David Norton are best known as the originators of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) concept which adds to the managerial equation the imperative necessity of aligning the individual and organizational effort with the organizational vision and strategic objectives, in a whole defined by four perspectives: financial, customer and stakeholder, internal processes and organizational capacity of learning and growth. Balanced Scorecard is a concept used in private and public sector organizations, used to point / highlight the vision, missions, strategic goals of an organization, to evaluate the performance of strategic management and to be used as a tool as well effective internal communication. Over the time, like any other concept in the field of social sciences, BSC goes through a continuous process of adaptation and improvement of its own statements, methods and tools.

Abstract:
Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) is firmly rooted in an alternative concept of optimality where multiple (rather than single) criteria characterize the notion of “the best” (or optimal), as is prevalent in the areas of economics, engineering, management and business. These are often constrained problems where search for an optimal solution requires some form of evaluating criteria performance tradeoffs. Because there are no tradeoffs along a single criterion, optimality is an essentially multi-criteria concept. In this paper we extend and develop the notion of optimum as a balance among multiple criteria. We introduce eight different, separate and mutually irreducible optimality concepts in a classification scheme where the traditional single-objective optimality is only a special case. These eight optimality concepts provide a useful initiatory framework for the future MCDM research and applications.

Abstract:
Symmetry and balance are basic concepts in art theory for the composition of pictures. It is assumed that well-balanced pictures are preferred to unbalanced ones. One of the first experimental studies to test this assumption was conducted more than a century ago by Ethel Puffer. By applying a production method, she found little evidence for the hypothesis that balance is favorable for the aesthetical appreciation of pictures. Instead, she observed that other construction principles competing with balance, such as bilateral symmetry and closeness, were applied. The aim of the present study was to repeat some of Puffer’s experiments with modern methods and to examine whether her results are replicable. In two experiments, we also found little to no evidence for balance. Moreover, as in Puffer’s study, participants used closeness and bilateral symmetry as principles. However, compared to that study, the relative frequency of use of these principles was quite different.

Abstract:
The early school education stage is a particularly important period, in which the child has possibility to confront colloquial and formal knowledge. An important area of such confrontation is the so-called practical information and skills, including the concept of measure and measuring ability. At the elementary level the child passes from colloquial knowledge of measurement to formal knowledge and starts to understand the interrelationships between various measures. One of the basic threats in shaping the concept of measure in children is too early formalization of knowledge. The article presents the results of the pilot studies regarding the understanding by 7‒9 year old children the sense of measuring continuous magnitudes such as: length, volume, mass, time, temperature and surface area. On the basis of the results, it was found that the most difficulties for children is to measure mass, volume and surface area. Basically, the studied group does not understand the importance of balance on the beam balance, so they cannot determine the result of mass measurement. Based on the observation it was noticed that children mostly associate the measuring activity with length and special tools. They are not aware that we can measure with any chosen units and that we can measure different continuous magnitudes.

Abstract:
In this article, we describe an exploratory study of a small-scale, concept-driven, voluntary laboratory component of Introductory Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. We wished to investigate whether students' attitudes toward biology and their understanding of basic biological principles would improve through concept-based learning in a laboratory environment. With these goals in mind, and using our Biology Concept Framework as a guide, we designed laboratory exercises to connect topics from the lecture portion of the course and highlight key concepts. We also strove to make abstract concepts tangible, encourage learning in nonlecture format, expose the students to scientific method in action, and convey the excitement of performing experiments. Our initial small-scale assessments indicate participation in the laboratory component, which featured both hands-on and minds-on components, improved student learning and retention of basic biological concepts. Further investigation will focus on improving the balance between the minds-on concept-based learning and the hands-on experimental component of the laboratory.

Abstract:
. Goal. Coverage of introduction of innovative concepts in the system of management of activity of sanatorium and resort enterprises. Research methodology. The following methods were used: analysis (theoretical review of scientific literature on the problem of research); a synthesis that made it possible to integrate individual parts of the facility into a single unit (development of a Balanced Scorecard for health resort enterprises in terms of socio-economic security); benchmarking that allowed us to map concepts (spa marketing, business performance management, and balanced scorecard). Results. The peculiarities of the management system of the sanatorium and resort enterprises in the conditions of social and economic security are considered. It is stated that the concept of management in terms of ensuring the socio-economic security of any enterprise of the sanatorium and resort complex is based on clearly formed systems of organization of management of socio-economic development. The basic methods of implementation, organization and management of social and economic security at the enterprise are distinguished. It is noted that spa marketing is a concept of management of the spa enterprise, which provides a comprehensive study of the needs of clients in the spa treatment and recreation for their fullest satisfaction through complex efforts to produce, sell and promote the spa product in a competitive market with the aim ensuring socio-economic security and profit. The basic processes covered by the concept of Business Performance Management for spa companies are presented. The Balanced Scorecard Balance Scorecard system has been developed for sanatorium and resort enterprises in terms of social and economic security. Scientific novelty. The basic innovative concepts (spa marketing, Business Performance Management and Balanced Scorecard) are proposed, which introduction into the enterprise management system will ensure effective management decisions, achievement of strategic goals, increase of profit and social and economic security in general. Practical importance. The introduction of our proposed concepts into the management system of sanatorium and resort enterprises will provide such an institution with a complete and effective implementation of processes for managing its activities, providing customer service and optimizing the functions and management procedures performed.

Abstract:
This article argues that Mohandas K. Gandhi and Isaiah Berlin remain the two main thinkers of pluralism in the 20th century. Though the two never met and despite their essential differences, the two political thinkers can be read as complementary in order to hold on to the idea of a common human horizon. As such, Gandhi’s transformative conception of pluralism, exemplified by his universal method of transforming liberal citizenship into a civic friendship, offers definitely a way to enlarge the Berlinian concept of value pluralism as an alternative of moral monism. Consequently, the reading of Gandhi could complete Isaiah Berlin’s idea of value pluralism by adding an effective exercise of plurality through his antagonism to monism as a tradition of thought that does not possess the resources to change and the potential for the moral and spiritual growth of humanity. As a result, this article suggests that it is worth trying to strike a balance between the Gandhian and Berlinian concepts of pluralism in order to be able to differentiate pluralism and relativism and to search for a core of shared or universal values which allows us to reach an agreement on at least some moral issues in today’s world.

Abstract:
Purpose This study aims to provide insight into how the implementation and management of an integrated workplace concept (IWC) in multiple office locations are affected by local management practices and other contextual and cultural aspects. Design/methodology/approach A triangulated case study design was applied to evaluate an on-going process to roll out a new branch office concept. The core method was semi-structured interviewing. Findings The findings indicate that when an IWC meets different local cultures and realities, the concept and its different aspects may transform in different directions – ultimately affecting concept interconnectedness and strategic value. The findings further suggest that the concept’s socio-material implications vary between locations and actors at different levels. For IWCs to serve strategic aims, they must be continuously aligned and re-aligned with changing organisational strategies. Research limitations/implications The study was conducted in one organisation. Additional empirical research, investigating implementation and management of different concepts in different organisational contexts, is needed to provide more definite conclusions and to develop guidelines for design, implementation and decision-making. Practical implications The findings highlight the importance of applying an iterative process approach in implementation and management of IWCs. Such an approach is essential for striking the right balance between standardisation and local adaptation, and for aligning the concept with organisational strategies. Originality/value Although much has been written on IWCs, the role of culture and social negotiations in the implementation and operations phase is often neglected.

Abstract:
An article discusses a necessity of combination of historical and contemporary architectural concepts in the process of selection of strategy for sustainable urban development. Working out a dynamic balance between this two concepts provides sustainability of area development, which is required for incorporation of new architectural objects in existing structure of a city. At that, usage of historical architectural concepts will allow to preserve cultural identity of developed city, while usage of modern architects’ concepts would promote quick reaction on continuously changing social, technical and ecological conditions of formation. An expressed hypothesis in the article regarding a necessity of such dynamic balance is illustrated with interaction of historical concept of ensemble development of urban space with modern architects’ concepts based on combination of elements of live and inanimate nature. Interaction of these concepts occurs after assessment of an ensemble potential state or potential of ensemble self-development of a particular urban space. This helps to determine probable directions of urban space development in line with already incorporated genetic program (peculiarities) of formation of an examined territory. Considering determined ensemble potential the following options of usage of modern architectural concepts which are based on combination of live and inanimate nature elements are suggested: for regeneration of at one time destroyed or degrading districts by means of inclusion of new unique buildings and complexes; for increase of importance of reorganized urban spaces at incorporation of architectural and city developments objects as well as engineering infrastructure objects; for enrichment of city environment by employing natural structures and materials, imitations of relief, landscape, natural texture in developed objects and complexes. Foregoing the above, combination of historical and modern concepts discussed in the article would provide maintenance of urban spaces in the state of sustainable development.

Many modern forms of yoga can be located in the holistic milieu. Discourses of health and wellbeing for mind, body and soul are central in the holistic milieu. Ideas about food and diet are frequently significant aspects of this therapeutic discourse. This paper focuses on ideas about food and diet in the Art of Living Foundation (AOL), a modern transnational yoga movement. AOL legitimises its beliefs about food through an appeal to concepts found in traditional texts on yoga and āyurveda. In particular, the concept of sattva, which can be translated as balance or harmony—both significant tropes in the holistic milieu—is central to discourses about food choices in AOL and other writers in the holistic milieu.

Abstract:
The article aims to present the discussions about sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Such concepts are no longer a trend and are in continuous process of construction, even if the discussions on the subject have gained more proportion in the last decades. It is possible to relate them to the financial results of organizations. And in fact, these concepts are not static, but rather require an ongoing process of redefinition, which now involves a vision of long-term corporate strategy. Organizations have been pushed to change the way they are committed not only to the environmental issue, but especially to how committed they are to society. In this way, corporate social responsibility has grown and is one of the organizations’ priorities. It is considered that these organizations face a new risk scenario, which demands the adoption of a socially and environmentally responsible position, converging towards economic efficiency. Thus, the present analysis was based on bibliographic references using the hypothetical deductive method.

The biotic balance is a special strategy followed by the building, which helps it to stay and interact, and perform vital functions at a constant and natural rate under suitable conditions or the possibility of making them suitable, in the light of the general trend that seeks to preserve nature, as a result of the emergence of concepts of sustainability and green architecture and applied models of polarization outside the environment Which resulted in buildings that are not compatible with the environment and thus reduced environmental performance of the building, emerged the research problem of "lack of knowledge about the mechanisms of living organisms to achieve a biological balance with the surrounding nature." The main objective of the research was to "build a cognitive perception about the mechanisms by which living organisms create a biological balance with the surrounding environment." Therefore, the main research hypothesis was that there is a similarity between the mechanisms used by living organisms to balance the surrounding nature and the architectural solutions that the architect must follow to achieve the same Harmony with the surrounding nature, "and therefore adopted the methodology of research on two parts: First: the theoretical study, which includes the introduction of concepts and considerations related to the concept of biological balance, and knowledge of the mechanisms used by living organisms and try to apply in the field of architecture, The study concluded that the strategies of living organisms in dealing with the surrounding environment, along with the automatic architecture of marsh homes, is the basis of the main hypothesis and its applicability.

Abstract:
Combined sewer overflow (CSO) structures are constructed to effectively discharge excess water during heavy rainfall, to protect the urban drainage system from hydraulic overload. Consequently, most CSO structures are not constructed according to basic hydraulic principles for ideal measurement weirs. It can, therefore, be a challenge to quantify the discharges from CSOs. Quantification of CSO discharges are important in relation to the increased environmental awareness of the receiving water bodies. Furthermore, CSO discharge quantification is essential for closing the rainfall-runoff mass-balance in combined sewer catchments. A closed mass-balance is an advantage for calibration of all urban drainage models based on mass-balance principles. This study presents three different software sensor concepts based on local water level sensors, which can be used to estimate CSO discharge volumes from hydraulic complex CSO structures. The three concepts were tested and verified under real practical conditions. All three concepts were accurate when compared to electromagnetic flow measurements.

Abstract:
AbstractModern concepts of worldwide glacier monitoring include numerical models for (1) interconnecting the different levels of observations (local mass balance, representative length change, glacier inventories for global coverage) and (2) extrapolations in space (coupling with climate models) and time (backward and forward). In this context, one important new tool is distributed mass-balance modelling in complex mountain topography. This approach builds on simplified energy-balance models and can be applied for investigating the spatio-temporal representativity of the few mass-balance measurements, for estimating balance values at the tongue of unmeasured glaciers in order to derive long-term average balance values from a great number of glaciers with known length change, and for assessing special effects such as the influence of Sahara dust falls on the albedo and mass balance or autocorrelation effects due to surface darkening of glaciers with strongly negative balances. Experience from first model runs in the Swiss Alps and from applications to the extreme conditions in summer 2003 provides evidence about the usefulness of this approach for glacier monitoring and analysis of glacier changes in high-mountain regions. The main difficulties concern the spatial variability of the input parameters (e.g. precipitation, snow cover and surface albedo) and the uncertainties in the parameterizations of the components of the energy balance. Field measurements remain essential to tie the models to real ground conditions.
