Abstract:

Sifat fisik balsem stick dipengaruhi oleh komponen yang digunakan yaitu minyak, lilin dan lemak. Penggunaan minyak yang memiliki kandungan asam lemak yang berbeda akan mempengaruhi sifat fisik balsem stick. Pemilihan komponen yang tepat diharapkan akan menghasilkan titik lebur dan kekerasan yang baik dan sesuai dengan persyaratan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh minyak zaitun, VCO dan minyak jojoba terhadap sifat fisik balsem stick. Pengujian sifat balsem stick meliputi uji organoleptik, homogenitas, titik lebur dan kekerasan. Hasil pengujian sifat fisik ini diperoleh penggunaan VCO memiliki titik lebur dan kekerasan yang tinggi yaitu 56˚C dan 2,83 mm. Hasil data statistik menunjukkan sig <0,05 yang berarti terdapat perbedaan dari setiap formula. Balsem stick jintan hitam dari setiap fomula dilakukan aktivitas antiinflamasi subakut. Aktivitas antiinflamasi subakut menggunakan metode granuloma pouch dengan penginduksian karagenan. Parameter yang diamati adalah jumlah leukosit total. Hasil data statistik menunjukkan bahwa jumlah leukosit kontrol negatif berbeda bermakna pada seluruh kelompok (p<0,05). Ketiga formula juga menunjukkan jumlah leukosit totalnya berbeda bermakna dengan kelompok positif (p<0,05). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan perbedaan jenis minyak pada formula balsem stick jintan hitam tidak mempengaruhi aktivitas antiinflamasi dalam menurunkan jumlah leukosit total.

Abstract:

Jahe berkembang secara cepat dan pemanfaatan yang luas dengan sistem pengolahan tepat guna. Kandungan senyawa kimia utama yang terdapat pada jahe adalah minyak atsiri, oleoresin dan pati. Ekstraksi oleoresin dari rimpang jahe semakin banyak dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku pembuatan obat. Penelitian ini bertujuan melakukan ekstraksi oleoresin dari jahe dan dimanfaatkan sebagai sediaan balsem stik. Proses ekstraksi dilakukan pada suhu 40◦c dengan waktu 3 jam menggunakan pelarut etanol 96% dengan perbandingan 1 : 5 yaitu serbuk jahe dengan ukuran ± 40 mesh sebanyak 300 gram dengan pelarut 1500 ml. Hasil ekstraksi dipisahkan menggunakan rotary vakum evaporator sehingga diperoleh ekstrak kental oleoresin. Hasil standarisasi serbuk simplisia jahe merah memenuhi persyaratan yang telah ditetapkan. Hasil dari ke 4 formula menunjukan bahwa balsem stik memenuhi persyaratan evaluasi sediaan balsem stik. Formula 3 dengan 10 %(b/v) ekstrak jahe merah dipilih sebagai formula terbaik karena menghasilkan rasa hangat yang lebih bagus.

Abstract:

O objetivo deste trabalho é refletir sobre os sentidos e usos associados à preservação da prática dos balseiros que atuaram na década de 1920 em Itá, Santa Catarina, cujos saberes e fazeres vêm sendo (re)afirmados pelo Museu do Balseiro e de como o turismo local tem sido trabalhado no campo do patrimônio cultural. Apesar dos impactos da ação madeireira no meio ambiente, esse ofício se constitui em patrimônio cultural da região, pela produção de artefatos, meios de transporte e ferramentas de trabalho, fundamentado teoricamente na Museologia Social, Nova Museologia e Educação Para o Patrimônio. A metodologia inclui pesquisa documental de roteiro turístico e cultural que citam o museu, desenvolvidos pela Secretaria de Turismo, bem como de um projeto escolar, como referência para montagem de uma réplica de balsa, feita por alunos da Escola Municipal Valentim Bernardi. Analisa o impacto do turismo na patrimonialização do ofício do balseiro e os resultados da experiência como ação de educação para o patrimônio, a partir de relatos da coordenadora do projeto e alunos participantes, reunidos no momento de seu reencontro com a obra exposta no Museu. Discute as relações entre patrimônio cultural, Turismo e Educação para o Patrimônio, a fim de compreender o lugar que cultura e patrimônio ocupam em uma cidade turisticamente explorada. Problematiza as ações turísticas focadas nos espaços culturais, de recuperação e de preservação do patrimônio cultural dos balseiros na rede de ensino, e como estas têm sido negociadas e associadas à história local. Conclui que o turismo em Itá tem objetivos meramente econômicos e que desconhece a experiência de patrimonialização do ofício de balseiro como estratégia de recuperação de memórias e de educação para o patrimônio, por meio da apropriação de elementos da cultura do colonizador.

Abstract:

Penyakit infeksi ialah penyakit yang disebabkan oleh masuk dan berkembangbiaknya mikroorganisme seperti bakteri. Tumbuhan balsem (Polygala paniculata L.) bermanfaat dalam menyembuhkan gonorrhoea, rematik dan menyembuhkan luka. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri dari ekstrak etanol tumbuhan balsem dan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi efektif dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan eksperimental, dan pengujian aktivitas antibakteri dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode difusi agar. Variasi konsentrasi ektrak terdiri dari 50%, 25%, 12,5%, 6,25%, Akuades sebagai kontrol negatif dan kloramfenikol sebagai kontrol positif. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pada semua konsentrasi menunjukkan aktivitas antibakteri dengan katergori sedang.

Abstract:

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui lama umur simpan dan tingkat penerimaan konsumen terhadap produk biofarmaka (balsem, salep dan obat cair). Variabel pengamatan dalam penelitian ini meliputi uji fungi, uji keamanan produk, pengamatan umur simpan, dan tingkat penerimaan konsumen terhadap produk biofarmaka. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Teknologi Pertanian Universitas Bengkulu. Data yang diperoleh dari hasil pengamatan uji fungi, uji keamanan dan umur simpan produk dianalisa secara deskriptif sedangkan untuk tingkat penerimaan konsumen dilakukan dengan uji penerimaan atau uji hedonik, uji penerimaan konsumen ini melibatkan 10 orang mahasiswa Unib dan 15 orang dari masyarakat Kota Manna Kabupaten Bengkulu Selatan. Dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat penerimaan konsumen terhadap jenis produk yang paling disukai adalah produk balsem dengan jumlah persentase sebesar 94%, sedangkan produk pilihan kedua adalah salep dengan jumlah persentase 87,6% dan diikuti oleh produk obat cair 77,6% sebagai produk pilihan ketiga sedangkan lama umur simpan terhadap masing-masing produk biofarmaka lebih dari satu bulan untuk produk balsem, salep dan obat cair dengan dosis 5% dan 10%. Sedangkan dengan dosis 1% untuk produk obat cair hanya mampu bertahan dengan umur simpan selama 23 hari untuk ulangan pertama dan 24 hari untuk ulangan kedua dan ketiga

The spruce budworm Choristoneura fumiferana (Clem.) is the most damaging insect of the balsam fir Abies balsema (L.) Mill. (Pinaceae) and the white spruce Picea glauca (Moench) Voss (Pinaceae) throughout eastern North America. In outbreak conditions, close to 100% tree mortality can occur in untreated mature fir stands (MacLean 1980). Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki (Bacillaceae) is currently used to reduce spruce budworm damage (Van Frankenhuyzen and Payne 1993). Other possible biological control agents, such as baculoviruses, are also investigated to complement the use of B. thuringiensis. Baculoviruses are advantageous because they occur naturally in several insect species and are generally host specific (Federici 1993).

Teripang banyak diminati sebagai makanan kesehatan juga mengandung bahan aktif antibakteri, antifungi, antikoagulan, sebagai penghasil protease dan arginine kinase.Dengan banyaknya kandungan yang terdapat pada produk olahan teripang serta manfaat yang didapatkan perlu dilakukan survei pasar dalam bentuk identifikasi pelaku dan produk terhadap produk olahan teripang. tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi tingkat kepentingan pelaku yang terlibat dalam sistem agroindustri.Menentukan bentuk produk obat luka dengan bahan baku teripang yang layakdipasarkan. Tahapan penelitian ini adalah (1) Identifikasi ini dilakukan dengan cara pengisian kuisioner dan teknik wawancara terhadap nara sumber yang berkompeten dalam sistem agroindutri, dalam hal ini sistem agroindustri teripang seperti Dinas Kelautan, Dinas Kesehatan, Perguruan Tinggi dan lain-lain.(2) Mengidentifikasi produk-produk antiseptik dan obat luar berbasis teripang.(3)Pemilihan bentuk produk berdasarkan metode MPE (Metode Perbandingan Eksponensial. Metode Perbandingan Eksponensial (MPE) merupakan salah satu metode untuk menentukan urutan prioritas alternatif keputusan dengan kriteria majemuk. Alternatif keputusan yang ada dalam penelitian ini adalah produk antiseptik berbasis teripang dalam bentuk cair, balsem dan salep. Sedangkan kriteria majemuk dalam memilih kriteria variasi produk antiseptik berbasis teripang adalah ketersedian bahan baku, jumlah produksi, proses potensi pasar, jumlah produksi, kompotitor, penguasaan teknologi, kebutuhan tenaga kerja, dan nilai tambah produk.Pelaku agroindustri yang berperan penting yaitu konsumen, BPOM, produsen dan nelayan. Produk dengan bentuk salep lebih di sukai oleh para pelaku agroindustri ini. Berdasarkan perhitungan dengan menggunakan Metode Perbandingan Eksponensial (MPE) didapatkan nilai kriteria tertinggi untuk jenis produk salep 5.828.935, balsem dengan nilai kriteria 5.542.406 dan bentuk cair dengan nilai kriteria 5.085.508.

Abstract:

In June 2014, the Faculty of Astronomical and Geophysical Sciences of the National University of La Plata, Argentina, received a telescope as a donation from the family of Dr. Rafael Montemayor. This instrument was a personal project of the professor and researcher of the Balseiro Institute (Bariloche, Argentina), in which he worked during the last 17 years of his life, completing 80% of the mechanical aspects. The mount with a C-ring type design is very robust, the telescope has a parabolic primary mirror (f = 2027 mm and D = 457.2 mm) prepared to operate in Newtonian focus. Our goal is to complete the assembly and automation of the telescope, which will be used remotely for scientific, educational and outreach purposes. The development of the pointing electronics and control software are complete and have been tested with Meade telescopes.

Introduction: Lemongrass plants contain essential oils that can be used as aromatherapy. In the context of efforts to improve public health services in Indonesia, traditional medicine has the opportunity as one of the potential alternative treatments. Society uses traditional medicine in the form of herbal medicine, stew, juice or by rubbing directly on the affected part. Method: Sample in this study was African leaves and palm leaveswhich were taken purposively without comparing samples from other regions, To get the essential oil of lemongrass done by distillation. Result: Aromatherapy balm from essential oil is formulated with some concentrations of 0%, 15%, 20% and 25% of the evaluation of balm which has been done to 3 qualified balm formulas and has good physical quality. Concludes: Citronella essential oil can be made into a supply of balm stick with various concentrations, namely 15%, 20% and 25%. Stick balm made from essential oils of lemongrass can give an aromatherapy effect which is characterized by a refreshing aroma when inhaling the balm preparations and can provide a warm sensation. The best concentration as an aromatherapy stick balm preparation is 25% because it gives the highest aroma and test preferences.

Permasalahan umum yang terdapat di kelurahan Cokrodiningratan adalah kurangnya implementasi kegiatan yang bertujuan menciptakan hidup sehat pada warganya. Maka program Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) Universitas Ahmad Dahlan periode 57 ini difokuskan pada pengelolaan tentang lingkungan dan kesehatan. Program ini bertujuan memberdayakan masyarakat Cokrodiningratan dalam progam masyarakat ehat. Metode pelaksanaan program KKN meliputi: pendidikan masyarakat, difusi teknologi dan praktek langsung. Dampak dari kegiatan KKN ini adalah: 1) tercipta kesadaran masyarakat sasaran tentang menanam tanaman obat keluarga; 2) peningkatan ketrampilan masyarakat dalam membuat lilin aroma terapi dan balsem; 3) terciptanya kegiatan olah raga masyarakat secara rutin; 4) peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang obat ; 5) memperoleh layanan pengobatan gratis, 6) peningkatan kegiatan kebersihan lingkungan (kerja bakti).

Saat perusahaan mampu menyajikan inovasi yang bernilai bagi konsumen dan menguntungkan bagi perusahaan, maka inovasi itu dapat memberikan kontribusi pada kinerja pemasaran perusahaan. Selain inovasi orientasi pasar yang dilakukan oleh perusahaan juga merupakan serangkaian kesatuan dalam mendapatkan, menyebarkan dan mengetahui informasi dari konsumen dan pesaing. Oleh karena itu tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh orientasi pasar dan inovasi terhadap kinerja pemasaran. Sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu toko- toko yang menjual balsem balpirik. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis Struktural Equation Modelling. Struktural Equation Modelling digunakan untuk pengaruh yang relatif secara simultan. Berdasarlam hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan: ( 1 ) orientasi pasar tidak berpengaruh terhadap kinerja pemasaran, ( 2 ) inovasi produk berpengaruh terhadap kinerja pemasaran.

Abstract:

This article examines how contemporary Cuban American artists have experimented with visual languages of trauma to construct an intergenerational memory about the losses of exile and migration. It considers the work of artist Alberto Rey, and his layering of individual loss onto other, traumatic episodes in the history of the Cuban diaspora. In the series Las Balsas (The Rafts, 1995–99), Rey explores the impact of the balsero (rafter) crisis of 1994 by transforming objects left behind by Cuban rafters on their sometimes ill-fated journeys to the United States into commemorative relics. By playing on a memory of absence and the misplacement of objects found along the migration route of the Florida Straits, Rey's visual language transmits the memory of grief across time, space and generational divides. Rey's visual strategies are part of an “extended memory” tied to the aesthetics of disappearance and remembrance in contemporary Cuban American art. His use of objects as powerful memory texts that serve to bring fragmented autobiographical, family and intergenerational testimonies of loss together suggests how visual artists can provide us with more collective, participatory and redemptive models of memory work.

AbstractThe middle part of the Santa Rosita Formation (Tremadocian) is well exposed in the Iruya area, northwestern Argentina. At the Pantipampa and Rodeo Colorado localities, it is composed of shale and sandstone representing a wave-dominated shelf with influence of storm activity. Twenty-two trilobite species are described from these localities. Low-diversity assemblages from the lower part of the succession (Kainella meridionalis Kobayashi, Asaphellus catamarcensis Kobayashi, Leptoplastides marianus [Hoek]) are diagnostic of the early Tremadocian Kainella meridionalis Zone. Trilobites from the middle part of the sequence are much more diverse. Kainella teiichii Vaccari and Waisfeld, Gymnagnostus kobayashii n. sp., Conophrys sp. indet., Asaphellus clarksoni n. sp., A. stenorhachis (Harrington), A. isabelae Meroi Arcerito, Waisfeld and Balseiro, Ogygiocaris? iruyensis n. sp., Niobe (Niobella) inflecta (Harrington and Leanza) n. comb., Metayuepingia riccardii n. sp., Pseudokainella keideli Harrington, Apatokephalus rugosus n. sp., Onychopyge acenolazai n. sp., O. gonzalezae n. sp., Nileus cingolanii n. sp., N. erici n. sp., Leptoplastides marianus, Parabolinella sp. indet., Hapalopleura sp. indet., and Ceratopygidae gen. et sp. indet., occur at different levels of the Kainella teiichii Zone. This biostratigraphic unit includes the oldest records of Nileus Dalman and Ogygiocaris? Angelin; Metayuepingia Liu, Niobe (Niobella) Reed, and Onychopyge Harrington are here first reported from the Tremadocian of southwest Gondwana. Finally, the uppermost part of the succession is characterized by the absence of the genus Kainella Walcott and the occurrence of Bienvillia tetragonalis (Harrington), Asaphellus stenorhachis, Pseudokainella keideli and Leptoplastides sp. indet., which are indicative of the middle Tremadocian Bienvillia tetragonalis Zone. The trilobites described in this paper provide a basis for the refinement of correlations with other Lower Ordovician sections of the Cordillera Oriental. The genera recognized have their closest affinities with faunas from Scandinavia, Great Britain, and China.

Abstract:

Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF), a pleiotropic cytokine that could be involved in early embryo-maternal interactions (Muñoz et al. 2012 J. Proteome Res. 11, 751–766), binds to receptors TNFR1 and TNFR2. The TNFR2 mediates apoptotic and survival processes (Fischer et al. 2011 Cell. Signal. 23, 161–170) and its expression is hormonally regulated (Okuda et al. 2010 Mol. Cell. Endocrinol. 330, 41–48). In this work we analyzed the expression of TNFR2 by Western blot (WB) and immunocytochemistry (ICQ) and its co-localization with TNF by ICQ in bovine embryos and endometrium. Heifers that were transferred with multiple in vitro produced (IVP) embryos (n = 3) or sham transferred (n = 3) on Day 5 to horn ipsilateral to the corpus luteum were slaughtered on Day 8. Embryos were flushed and endometrial samples were collected from caruncular and intercaruncular regions in the middle and cranial horn thirds. Endometrial samples and Day 8 IVP embryos were subjected to ICQ, and the immunostaining pattern of TNFR2 and TNF was examined by confocal microscopy. Endometrial samples were also subjected to WB. Expression of TNRF2 was quantified by densitometry (immunoblots) and blind assessment (immunostaining). Data were analyzed using the GLM procedure of SAS Version 9.2 (SAS Institute Inc., Cary, NC, USA) and REGWQ test for means. Trophectoderm (TF) cells from blastocysts and uterine epithelial and stromal cells showed TNFR2 expression. TNF and TNRF2 were predominantly co-localised in embryos and endometrial samples, although occasionally they were detected independently. The presence of embryos increased TNFR2 in the basal glandular epithelia (P ≤ 0.05). Moreover, TNFR2 was higher in the intercaruncular than in the caruncular luminal epithelium (P = 0.07). The presence of embryos did not affect TNFR2 expression between cranial and middle horn thirds. However, the TNFR2 low-molecular-weight isoform (Lmw) in the caruncles and in the middle third of the uterine horn tended to increase in the presence of embryos (P ≤ 0.1). Interestingly, TNFR2 Lmw was more abundant in the middle caruncular region than in other endometrial regions (P < 0.05). Our findings suggest that TNF can mediate embryo-maternal communication in the uterus, acting both in the embryonic and maternal sides. In addition, although implantation does not begin in ruminants until elongation is complete, early bovine embryos seem to show an ability to interact with caruncles. Project AGL2009-10059 (MICINN). Abstract:

Balm is a thick oil containing resin oil and essential oils, feels hot. Balm is applied by rubbing and rubbing on the skin. The balm has the benefit of reducing muscle aches, which are caused by the burning sensation of the balm. Essential oils can cause a refreshing and soothing sensation after the use it. This balm can calm consumers who experience muscle pain. The aim of this study is to find out the best formula preferred by consumers aged 20 to 60 years. The method of this study is a qualitative analysis, based on the answers of questionnaires by respondent. Four balm formula was tested, namely Balm no 1, Balm no 2, Balm no 3, Balm no 4. The parameter assessed is aroma, texture, color and warm sensation. The results show that the description of male consumers (54.5%), women (45.5%), ages 20-30 years (45.5%), ages 31-40 years (27.3%), ages 41-50 years (18.2%), aged 51 years and over (9%). The results showed that most respondent liked Balm No. 4, both in terms of aroma, texture, color and warm sensation. It is expected that this warm feeling will be able to reduce the aches in the muscles of respondent.

Namun hingga saat ini belum banyak ditemukan produk oleh-oleh khas Kawasan Danau Toba seperti produk-produk turunan andaliman. Perancangan produk dalam studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana mendesain beberapa inovasi dari produk turunan andaliman yang sesuai dengan spesifikasi yang diinginkan konsumen serta langkah-langkah apa saja yang diperlukan untuk mencapai spesifikasi tersebut. Dalam melakukan perancangan produk turunan andaliman, kami menggunakan Quality Function Deployment (QFD) yaitu sebuah teknik yang sudah teruji yang digunakan untuk menangkap dan menerjemahkan kebutuhan pelanggan yang menjadi karakteristik rekayasa untuk produk-produk turunan andaliman. Alat dari QFD yang disebut House of Quality (HoQ) dibangun dan dianalisis untuk menggambarkan hubungan antara kebutuhan kosumen terhadap respon teknis perusahaan. Dalam studi ini inovasi dari produk turunan andaliman yang dirancang adalah “mie andaliman” dan “balsem andaliman”. Pengembangan produk-produk tersebut direncanakan akan diproduksi oleh sekelompok masyarakat yang berada di Kec. Lumban Julu, Kab. Toba Samosir yang didukung oleh Taman Eden 100 dan Institut Teknologi Del dalam mengembangkan dan membudidayakan tanaman andaliman dan produk turunannya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan melakukan riset pasar kepada 200 wisatawan yang berada di sekitar Kawasan Danau Toba dengan rentang umur 17-65 tahun. Hasil yang didapat dari desain produk ini yaitu terdapat 32 dan 25 atribut spesifikasi yang menjadi faktor penentu tingkat kepuasan konsumen terhadap produk “mie andaliman” dan “balsem andaliman”. Dan terdapat 5 respon teknis yang diprioritaskan pada perancangan produk “mie andaliman” dan 4 respon teknis yang diprioritaskan pada perancangan produk “balsem andaliman”.
