The article considers the results of the study of lead isotope composition of 38 non-ferrous artifacts discovered at medieval rural sites of the Suzdal Region (Kievan Rus’). The copper-alloy, silver and pewter artifacts were compared with reference data from geographically and temporally diverse medieval artifacts and ore deposits and revealed differing source regions and supply networks within and between metal types. The identification in some cases was difficult due to the conformity of the lead isotopic composition of deposits of some regions. The copper-alloys, represented mostly by cross

Часть таких предметов, найденных на Северо-Западе Русской равнины, действительно связана своим происхождением с культурой смоленских длинных курганов (серповидные височные кольца, круглая бляха с пуансонным орнаментом из Старой Ладоги). It is determined that one of the main reasons for the emergence of large Scythian settlements was a natural factor. Changes in climatic conditions in the steppe zone led to the almost complete outflow of population from its territory in the XI—V centuries BC. The establishment of a more favorable climate in the south of Ukraine, which began in the VII century BC, led to an increase in the population in the for

Ancient coinage (understood here as pre-AD 6th century Greek, Celtic and Roman issues) constitutes a small percentage of hoards and other assemblages found in Central, Eastern and Northern Europe, dated to the Middle Ages and to the modern period. Ancient coins have also been recorded at other sites in contexts dated to the same time, such as burial or settlement sites. Finds sometimes include pierced coins, which suggests they may have been used as amulets or jewellery. This chapter considers the phenomenon of mixed hoards, containing both minted and non-minted silver, from the Baltic island of Bornholm. Rather than following a general Scandinavian trend towards coin-only hoards, on Bornholm mixed hoards dominated until the twelfth century. They are often interpreted as signifying a somewhat primitive bullion economy, within which coins, ingots, jewellery, and scrap silver were traded and treated equally as a means of payment. In this chapter, this interpretation is re-evaluated. Six in-depth case studies are presented, providing a rich narrative context for

A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine was a tiny jewel box of a musical revue, with a cast of just eight versatile performers, that established Tommy Tune as a director-choreographer of the first rank when it opened in 1980. Its second act was an adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s one-act The Bear as it might have been performed by the Marx Brothers. The trio’s cheerfully anarchic spirit was conjured with balletic grace and timing in Tune’s staging. Tune expanded the show’s curtain raiser, a series of Hollywood songs, into a satiric cavalcade of music and comic musings on the movies circa 1939,

The Prosna river played a special role in the first centuries after Christ. At that time, the river was an important stage of the so-called “amber route”: its waters were used to transport amber from the Baltic Sea and Roman luxury goods, which were appealing to the local elite. The proximity of the route contributed to the intensification of settlement processes in the Prosna basin at the turn of the era and in the following centuries. This is evidenced by the numerous clusters of sites attributed to the Przeworsk culture, known as the “most iron-rich Roman period culture” on Polish soil. The
