Full textPupils with disability coming from migratory backgrounds are frequently present in current, multi-ethnic and in constant changing society and school. Scientific attention to the phenomenon in Italy is still limited. The purpose of the work is to analyse educational and didactic aspects of this category of children, which are characterized by a double inclusion difficulty, through the understanding of migratory dynamics and cultural representations of health, illness and disability. Transcultural questions of migratory shock and different conceptions of health, illness and disability in the world and in foreign countries are addressed in this study with respect to the inclusion of pupils with disability and pupils coming from migratory backgrounds in Italy, for the purpose of focusing on “children with disability coming from migratory backgrounds”. An exploratory field research at schools in the province of Piacenza, with interviews to teachers and analysis of scholar documents, has allowed a practical understanding of the phenomenon. Theoretical and experimental research conducted support a trans-cultural special Education and Didactics approach, which considers children with disability coming from migratory background and their needs through a multidimensional view: both disability and different cultural belonging need to be addressed through a global and integrated action and method.

Full textPARENTING INTERACTIVE BEHAVIORS ASSESSMENT AND VIDEOFEEDBACK INTERVENTION ARE HERE DISCUSSED IN RELATION TO CHILDREN WITH NEURODEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY. THE FIRST CHAPTER IS A PRESENTATION OF THE PICCOLO, A OBSERVATIONAL EMPIRICALLY VALIDATED TOOL TO EVALUATE PARENTING INTERACTIVE BEHAVIORS IN THE FIRST YEARS OF CHILDREN. SUCH INSTRUMENT APPEARS FITTED TO BE IMPLEMENTED WITH PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH NEURODEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY IN A HOSPITAL OR HOME SETTING. THE SECOND CHAPTER IS THE ITALIAN ADAPATION OF PICCOLO IMPLEMENTED WITH 181 MOTHER-INFANTS DYADS. THE SAMPLE HAS BEEN RECRUITED IN DIFFERENT PART OF ITALY AND THE MOTHERS WERE ASKED TO INTERACT FOR 10 MINUTES WITH THE CHILD- THE RECORDING HAS BEEN CODED FOLLOWING THE INSTRUMENTS MANUAL AND AFTER A TRAINING IN CONNECTION WITH AMERICAN ORIGINAL AUTHORS. THE RESULTS SHOWS SOM WEAKNESS IN PSYCHOMETRIC VALUES FOR ITALIAN ADAPTATION. THE THIRD CHAPTER PRESENTS A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW INVESTIGATING THE USE OF VIDEOFEEBACK INTERVENTION WITH PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH NEURODEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY. THE STATE OF ART OF SUCH METHOD IMPLMENTATION ARE DISCUSSED, AND THE DIFFERENT METHODOLOGIES ARE PRESENTED. FINALLY, THE ABC-D MODEL, A META THEORY TO GUIDE PARENTAL PSYCHOLOGICAL INTERVENTIONS IN THE CONTEXT OF NEURODEVELOPMTAL DISABILITY, IS DISCUSSED. THE ABC-D MODEL HAS BEEN CONCEPTUALIZED AS COMPOSED BY FOUR DIMENSIONS: AFFECT, BEHAVIOR, COGNITION, AND DISABILITY. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICTIONERS AND RESEARCHERS ARE PRESENTED.

Full textThe study approach has tackled the challenges of international paediatric Quality of Life (QoL) research by analysing QoL indicators and by using measures that are applicable for children and adolescents, as well as their parents to compare their perception about the subject’s QoL. Subsequently a pilot study on QoL of children with dystonia was developed. The data were collected by KIDSCREEN-52 questionnaires. The KIDSCREEN-52 instrument measures ten Rasch scaled Health Related QoL dimensions. All interviews were recorder in order to a content analysis. Content analysis and text analysis were carried out using T-LAB software. Six children and adolescents (aged 8-17) with dystonia and 6 parents’ interview were collected in this pilot study. We want to underline that all the children reported higher QoL’s level than the QoL attributed by parents. The results of Kidscreen showed that the children obtained higher scores (so a better QoL too) than those that were reported by their parents in the following areas: psychological well-being, mood and emotions, relationships with peers, school. The QoL’s average values in our sample, however, are often lower than the Kidscreen’s European average standards. The content analysis shows that school inclusion influences all the QoL dimensions.
