Full textConfined media restrain degrees of freedom and can affect considerably their energetic states and reaction coordinate profiles. Macrocycles are widely used for such purpose thanks to their capacity to include molecules in their cavities, changing their eletric dipole moments. This is why they can be used as calalyst, sensors or simple carriers for example. Bambus[6]uril (BU[6]), recently synthesized, has drawn attention due to its ability to form stable caviplexs with anions. The starting reagents are glyoxal and urea, two afordable and common compounds, but the synthetic route described in the literature however, lacks many important information make it difficult to prepare BU[6]. Many computer calculations were done to preview and understand the interactions between this macrocycle and other molecules. However, relevantly informations about BU[6], such as thermal stability, its ability to complex cations or its solubility in salt solutions and common solvents were not published yet. In this work the fundamental properties (density, pH and conduvity of saturated solution, melting point) of empty BU[6] and BU[6]HCl has been determined, as well the thermal behaviour of the compounds by thermogravimetric analysis. Beyond that, we have attempted to reduce BU[6]HCl synthesis time using ultrasound and the obtained products were analyzed by spectrometric and spectroscopic techniques. The solubility of BU[6]HCl has been studied with diversal solvents, alkaline and alkaline earth metals saline solutions and different acidity media. Condutimetric titrations of BU[6]HCl with alkaline and alkaline earth metals saline solutions were realized to evaluate the interaction of BU[6] and cations. Lastly, experiments to evaluate the interaction between the gases bromine and iodine with empty BU[6] and BU[6]HCl, in solid state, were realized and the obtained products submitted to spectroscopic and spectrometric analysis.

Full textThe so-called region \"Continuous from Paranapiacaba\", a representative remnant of the Atlantic Forest, is constituted by São Paulo State Parks Intervales (PEI), Carlos Botelho, Alto Ribeira and Ecological Station of Xitué. These forests that have dominant bamboo occurrences, are presently integrating the landscape at large sections within these conservation units in the southern São Paulo State. The objective of this work is to describe the scenery of such forests from the analysis of patterns and conditioning factors of the landscape at PEI. As a working hypothesis, it was assumed that the dominant occurrence of bamboo is a consequence of historical perturbations. The temporal analysis of aerial photographs covering the timeframe 1960 to 2000 presented at Chapter 2 allowed the mapping and characterization of the different processes of land occupation within the park. The landscape dynamics is associated to two main types of perturbation factors, namely to small-scale clear-cutting and to the exploitation of palm tree Euterpe edulis, which occurs disorderly, intensely and recurrently at the extensive area between the administration office and the bases of Carmo and São Pedro. From the characterization of vegetation, discussed at Chapter 3, the present landscape patterns of PEI were associated to forest areas with and without dominant occurrences of bamboo from species Guadua tagoara, Chusquea oxylepis, Chusquea sp. and Merostachys sp., which interfere at the forest structure. The landscape patterns related to the dominant and dynamic occurrence and to the histories of life from the different species of bamboo can be seen at the different patterns identified on the QuickBird image presented at Chapter 4, allowing mapping of the large clearings occupied by populations of bamboos internally synchronized. The relation between this dominance of bamboos with some natural and human factors is presented at Chapter 5 and the results are directed towards the model that the dominance event is increased by natural or human perturbations, and when bamboos are established they are themselves the perturbation agent of the ecosystem, resulting in a possible permanent homogenization of the landscape. The integration of information from different scales of observation allows the understanding of the context from this bamboo forest, evidencing the need of adequate scales to study these landscapes. At the local scale, considering the individuals and populations, it was possible to characterize the phenological phases, especially of the massive reproduction cycles and of the recovery processes of dominant species. At the scale of community, one can observe the interactions between bamboo species with the associated occurrence and superposition of reproductive cycles of some of these species, and its interference at the forest structure. At the landscape scale, the population patterns and communities of bamboos were identified at the images, permitting the discussion of this dominance pattern in relation to other areas with bamboo, but at distinct forest physiognomies. The results found in this study contribute to understand the bamboo forest dynamics of this region, permitting the definition of indicators from the dominance process, of importance for the management of this remnant from the Atlantic Forest.

This project aim to evaluate how the seed rain and the seedling establishment varied between environments with (B) and without (WB) the bamboo Guadua tagoara in the Atlantic forest of Carlos Botelho State Park, Sete Barras - SP. Forty traps and forty plots of 1m2 were placed within each patch type during one year of monthly monitoring. We recorded higher richness and more seeds in WB than in B, nonetheless, diversity and equitability were lower. Both environments showed high similarity in composition and abundance of seeds per specie. The average of seeds per month and seeds per specie was higher in WB. Also, the absolute density of seeds per trap varied predictable in time but there was not difference between B and WB. In respect to seedlings, B environment showed higher abundance, density, richness and dominance of Euterpe edulis, although diversity and equitability were lower than in WB. We found low similarity between B and WB environments in seedlings composition and abundance per specie. The average of seedlings per month was higher in B while the average of seedlings per specie was similar. The absolute density of E. edulis and other species seedlings varied in time in both environments, showing more seedlings density of the former in B and more seedlings density of the later in WB. When all species were analyzed together, seedling density was different between environments and months. The average of seedlings that emerged and died was higher in B environment. The survival rate varied between environments and in time. We found that E. edulis was the only specie that did not show any demographic limitations between environments. Seed rain did not vary between environments in relation to the specie composition as much as in the seed quantity... (Complete abstract, click electronic access below)
