Abstract:
Abstract On 10 June 2018, Switzerland voted against a constitutional amendment to introduce a system of sovereign money or Vollgeld. The proposal foresaw that all money be created by the central bank and that commercial banks be banned from creating demand deposits. Demand deposits would have been required to be held in off-balance sheet accounts at commercial banks. We discuss the specific features of this proposal and compare them to its historical predecessor, the Chicago plan. We argue that the Swiss initiative would not have tangibly enhanced financial, monetary, and economic stability. Specifically, if implemented earlier, it would not have addressed the root causes of the Global Financial Crisis and would have been ineffective in changing its course and its consequences for Switzerland. Though the Vollgeld proposal would have turned commercial bank into central bank money, close-money substitutes would likely have remained on the liability side of commercial bank balance sheets. Vollgeld would also unlikely have redeemed promises of ancillary effects such as a reduction in public debt, more sustainable economic growth, and less complex regulation. Forestalling and tackling financial imbalances requires limiting leverage and safeguarding liquidity buffers through bank-level and system-wide rules and regulation. Abstract:
Erysiphe necator Schwein overwinters in Hungary primarily as large numbers of chasmothecia providing primary inoculum for grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) infection in the next year. In two field trials, the effect of fungicide treatments on powdery mildew severity and the number of chasmothecia produced on leaves and washed to the bark were studied. In 2005, the number of chasmothecia harvested from the bark showed a limited correlation with disease severity (r = 0.553) and number of chasmothecia on leaves (r = 0.600). In 2006, using a refined sieving technique, a substantial increase in the number of harvested chasmothecia could be achieved resulting in a much closer correlation between the variables above (r = 0.750 and r = 0.886, respectively). Among the fungicides applied, boscalid and fluquinconazole (SC formulation) showed the most significant activity by decreasing both the autumn leaf infection and the formation of chasmothecia on the leaves and providing the lowest number of chasmothecia on bark. The research underlined the importance of fungicide applications made in the previous year to decrease the amount of overwintering inoculum and to help protect grapevines from powdery mildew infection in the next year.

Abstract:
Forest enterprise key figure comparison Germany – Austria – Switzerland The forest enterprise networks in the so-called DACH region (Germany [D], Austria [A] and Switzerland [CH]) have a long tradition going back to the 1950s. Due to different concepts and definitions, however, the national results are not directly comparable. Therefore, the aim of the DACH initiative is to enhance the comparability of national data sets and to draw conclusions for the forestry sector from the comparison of key figures. In order to achieve this, differences between country- specific indicator definitions were first identified and then offset as much as possible. A subsequent key figure analysis showed that certain forestry key figures of the DACH forest enterprise network can be made comparable, revealing the effects of the partially different conditions in the countries. The comparison of key figures over the years 2008 to 2013 shows that the German and Austrian forest enterprises achieved continuous profits in forest management. In contrast, the Swiss forest enterprises were in deficit despite extensive subsidies and compensations. This is partly due to the significantly higher expenses for timber harvesting, silviculture and forest road infrastructure, resulting in part from higher labor costs and in particular a much higher operational personnel density.

Strategische Herausforderungen liegen u. a. in verstärkter Regulierung, neuen Mitbewerbern wie non- and near banks und technologischem Wandel.

Banks and Bank Systems 15, no. 2 (May 4, 2020): 67–78. http://dx.doi.org/10.21511/bbs.15(2).2020.07.

Abstract:
The paper aims to develop scientific and methodological approach to assessing the interaction of nonperforming loans of Ukrainian banking institutions, the profitability of the banking sector and its financial stability, which will allow a more detailed assessment of the directions and degree of mutual influence of these elements. To substantiate this interaction economically and mathematically, structural equation modeling was chosen. Particularly, Statistica was chosen as a software tool to assess the adequacy of the resulting model and determine the level of statistical significance of its parameters. Six key indicators were selected as a research information base, two for each subject of research: indicators of nonperforming loans in the banking sector (the volume of nonperforming loans and the ratio of problem loans excluding capital reserves), profitability indicators of the Ukrainian banking sector (assets profit and rate of return on capital), and indicators of financial stability of the Ukrainian banking sector (regulatory capital-to-risk-weighted assets ratio and liquid assets-to-total assets ratio). For calculations, statistic data of selected indicators for 2005–2019 were used. As a result of calculations, mathematical data were obtained that accurately described the interaction of nonperforming loans of Ukrainian banking institutions, the profitability of the banking sector and its financial stability. The adequacy of the model was verified based on the following criteria: main summary statistics (ICSF criterion, ICS criterion, discrepancy function, maximum residual cosine), noncentrality fit indices (noncentrality parameter, population noncentrality parameter, Steiger-Lind RMSEA index, McDonald noncentrality index, adjusted population Gamma index), other single sample indices (Akaike information criterion, Schwarz criterion), and a normal probability plot.

Abstract:
Abstract “Freier Mann im freien Staat”. The Protection of Legal Personality in Switzerland. The Swiss Civil Code (1912) guarantees a comprehensive protection of legal personality. In this respect there exists a fundamental difference to the civil code of Germany (1900). The difference can be traced back to the 19th century when in Switzerland legal personality was not merely understood as an abstract legal entity, but rather as an expression of citizenship. The protection of legal personality therefore included the protection of personal freedom. This freedom was not only understood to protect a person’s capacity to act in his legal sphere, but also to protect his political rights and for this reason democracy. Resulting from this understanding it became self-evident that the protection of legal personality had to be comprehensive. This concept pervades Eugen Huber’s writings and especially his legislative contributions to the creation of the Swiss Civil Code. Thereby he constructed a model which was particularly referred to by prominent public law scholars later in times of political crisis (the 1940s).

Abstract:
Self-gravitational structure formation theory for astrophysics and cosmology is revised using nonlinear fluid mechanics. Gibson’s 1996–2000 theory balances fluid mechanical forces with gravitational forces and density diffusion with gravitational diffusion at critical viscous, turbulent, magnetic, and diffusion length scales termed Schwarz scales. Condensation and fragmentation occur for scales exceeding the largest Schwarz scale rather than LJ, the length scale introduced by Jeans in his 1902 inviscid-linear-acoustic theory. The largest Schwarz scale is often larger or smaller than LJ. From the new theory, the inner-halo 1021 m dark-matter of galaxies comprises ∼105fossil-LJ-scale clumps of 1012 Earth-mass fossil-LSV-scale planets called primordial fog particles (PFPs) condensed soon after the cooling transition from plasma to neutral gas, 300,000 years after the Big Bang, with PFPs tidally disrupted from their clumps forming the interstellar medium. PFPs explain Schild’s 1996 “rogue planets…likely to be the missing mass” of a quasar lens-galaxy, inferred from twinkling frequencies of the quasar mirages, giving 30 million planets per star. The non-baryonic dark matter is super-diffusive and fragments at large LSD scales to form massive outer-galaxy-halos. In the beginning of structure formation 30,000 years after the Big Bang, with photon viscosity values ν of 5×1026 m2 s−1, the viscous Schwarz scale matched the horizon scale LSV≈LH<LJ, giving 1046 kg proto-superclusters and finally 1042 kg proto-galaxies. Non-baryonic fluid diffusivities D∼1028 m2 s−1 from galaxy-outer-halo LSD scales 1022 m measured in a dense galaxy cluster by Tyson, J. A., and Fischer, P., 1995, “Measurement of the Mass profile of Abell 1689,” Ap. J., 446, pp. L55–L58, indicate non-baryonic dark matter particles must have small mass ∼10−35 kg to avoid detection. This paper analyzes the effect of leverage financing on corporate performance using debt-equity, coverage ratios and earnings per share as proxies. The study is motivated by need to assess the extent to which leverage affects optimizes financing risk as well as maximize returns to shareholders in the Nigerian banking industry. The study made use of F-ratios, Durbin-Watson; Akaikeand Schwarz Information Criteria as well as to log likelihood parameters in arriving at conclusions. Though the results across banks studied shows mixed outcome, leverage financing was established as critical strategy for maximization of shareholders returns. The conclusion therefore is that in order to ensure that leverage financing leads to desired outcome businessorganisations must established their optimum level as well as strike a strategic balance with associated financing risk and returns to owners of the firm.

Abstract:
Both active and starburst galactic nuclei are best understood if they are fuelled by gas inflow to the nucleus (e.g. Simkin, Su & Schwarz 1980; Hutchings & Campbell 1983).There is observational evidence that the occurrence of Seyfert and QSO activity is enhanced in the presence of nearby companions (Dahari 1984; Keel et al 1985; Hummel et al. 1987). At least some samples of Seyfert host galaxies show more close companions than would be expected for a random sample of similar galaxies, though the situation for tidal disturbances themselves is more complex. The selection effects modelled by Byrd et al. (1987) suggest that virtually all the Seyfert galaxies in Dahari’s sample have a companion which is (in principle) physically sufficient to provoke gas inflow in the disk.

Abstract:
Abstract Electric arc is a complex phenomenon occurring during the current interruption process in the power system. Therefore performing digital simulations is often necessary to analyse transient conditions in power system during switching operations. This paper deals with the electric arc modelling and its implementation in simulation software for transient analyses during switching conditions in power system. Cassie, Cassie-Mayr as well as Schwarz-Avdonin equations describing the behaviour of the electric arc during the current interruption process have been implemented in EMTP-ATP simulation software and presented in this paper. The models developed have been used for transient simulations to analyse impact of the particular model and its parameters on Transient Recovery Voltage in different switching scenarios: during shunt reactor switching-off as well as during capacitor bank current switching-off. The selected simulation cases represent typical practical scenarios for inductive and capacitive currents breaking, respectively.

The Gradient Symbolic Computation (GSC) model presented in the keynote article (Goldrick, Putnam & Schwarz) constitutes a significant theoretical development, not only as a model of bilingual code-mixing, but also as a general framework that brings together symbolic grammars and graded representations. The authors are to be commended for successfully integrating a theory of grammatical knowledge with the voluminous research on lexical co-activation in bilinguals. It is, however, unfortunate that a certain conception of bilingualism was inherited from this latter research tradition, one in which the contrast between native and non-native language takes a back seat.

The analysis draws heavily on concepts developed by Frasca (2001), Bogost (2008), Bogost, Ferrari & Schweizer (2010), Iurgel & Zagalo (2009), Ferrari (2009), Gonçalves & Zagalo (2010), Zagalo (2012), Sicart (2008), among others. The experiences with the game were used to categorize the levels of interactivity and reactivity, according to the possible paths followed by the reader/player. The extent to which the proposed simulation delineated narratives linked to the editorial profile of the magazine, and to what extent this can be used to encourage public debate.

Abstract:

A deletion in the p arm of chromosome 5B of Triticum aestivum L. cv. Chinese Spring was identified by C-banding during the production of disomic substitutions of 6B of Aegilops longissima Schweinf. et Muschl. for chromosome 5B of cv. Chinese Spring. The deletion was terminal with a breakpoint just proximal to the interstitial C-band. The degree of metaphase I chromosome pairing in plants homozygous for the deletion indicated that the chromosome pairing promoting gene known to be in the p arm of chromosome 5B is located in the deleted portion of that arm. Additionally, all of the 5S ribosomal RNA genes known to exist on arm 5Bp were mapped to this deleted portion.Key words: C-banding, 5S rRNA genes, Triticum, Aegilops chromosome aberration.

Abstract:
Like other parts of the muslim world, Indonesia has experienced an Islamic revival since the 1970s (cf. Hefner 1997; Jones 1980; Liddle 1996, 622–25; Muzaffar 1986; Schwarz 1994, 173–76; Tessler and Jesse 1996). To date, representations of Indonesia's Islamic revival have featured forms of religious practice and political activity concerned with what in the Sufi tradition is called the “outer” (lahir) expression of Islam: support for and observance of religious law (I.syariah, A.syari'at), including the practice of obligatory rituals. Thus commonly mentioned as evidence of a revival in Indonesia are such things as the growing numbers of mosques and prayer houses, the increasing popularity of head coverings (kerudung, jilbab) among Muslim women and school girls, the increasing usage of Islamic greetings, the more common sight of Muslims excusing themselves for daily prayers and attending services at their workplaces, the appearance of new forms of Islamic student activity on university campuses, strong popular agitation against government actions seen as prejudicial to the Muslim community, and the establishment in 1991 of an Islamic bank.

Abstract:
The research follows on the Arusha declaration of 2005 and the global financial crisis of 2008 and explored the impediments and the evolution of derivatives in Sub Sahara Africa with special attention onZimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa. The research has been based on a review of literature of the seminal authors and through a conduct of questionnaire surveys in each of the three countries of Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa. The purpose of the study was to identify any disparities in the evolution of commodities and financial derivatives in the Sub-Saharan African countries. The study uncovered that registered banks in Botswana and Zimbabwe relied so much on the forward agreement to protect against financial risk. Credit default swaps (CDS), currency options and simple foreign exchange swaps also were relatively used in Botswana by most commercial banks to hedge against risk. In South Africa, a wide variety of simple and complex futures and options products are effectively applied on commodities and currencies to protect against financial losses. Rodrigues, Schwarz and Seeger (2012) noted that the initiation of formal derivative markets can accelerate growth in the economies and decrease the fluctuations of the Gross Domestic Product.

Abstract:
Going back to Kirwan and others, there is an established theory that uses moment map techniques to study actions by complex reductive groups on Kähler manifolds. Work of P. Heinzner, G. Schwarz, and H. Stötzel has extended this theory to actions by real reductive groups. In this paper, we apply these techniques to actions of the real group SU(1,1) ⊂ SL(2, ℂ) on a certain complex manifold of dimension two. More precisely, because of the SU(2)-invariant hyperkähler structure on this manifold, we are able to study a family of actions which includes and “interpolates” two well-known actions of SL(2, ℂ): the adjoint action on the orbit of a semisimple element of 𝔰𝔩(2, ℂ), and the action of SL(2, ℂ) on the cotangent bundle of the flag variety of SL(2, ℂ).

Abstract:
This article explores the significance of rapids for the inhabitants of the banks of the Kemi River in Finnish Lapland. The river is frequently called “stream of life,” and people emphasize the critical role rapids play for this label. Starting from narratives, practices and material culture relating to the water movements along rapids, the article suggests two hypotheses: first, human associations of water with life arise not only from its characteristics as a substance in itself, but also from its particular movements through the environment. Second, the idea that “water means life” resonates with the similarity of shapes created by water movements and forms permeating all living processes. Building on the work of Strang (e.g. 2005a), Ingold (e.g. 2006) and Schwenk (1965) conclude that calling the Kemi a “stream of life” relates to people’s active engagement in its particular movements.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to model the forecast of Malaysia's export of goods using Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average Model (ARIMA) modelling with Box-Jenkins method. The time-series concerned is from the first quarter of 2015 to the first quarter of 2021 based on the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) data. The empirical analysis focuses on the five criteria for consideration towards the best model: high significant coefficient, high adjusted R-squared value, low sigma squared value, low Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) and low Schwarz Information Criterion (SIC). The study showed that ARIMA (2,1,2) would be the best model to forecast Malaysian export of goods from the second quarter of 2021 to the fourth quarter of 2022. The quarterly forecast opined the performance rate of Malaysian goods export to be at a stable positive rate of 4.9% throughout 2022, indicating the economic recovery progress that Malaysia would acquire from its vaccination programme and Movement Control Order (MCO) done in the previous year. The annual forecast showed a more precise value after comparing the actual and forecast growth value of exports in 2021. This finding is further supported with qualitative analysis about the validity of the forecast values via reports released by sources such as World Bank and Focus Economics.

Abstract:
In recent years there has been much evidence of an increasing trend towards the individualization of economic and social relations in Javanese village communities. The Green Revolution has been depicted as the main cause of the acceleration of this process in the present. Observations abound on labour-saving devices in rice cultivation, on the monetarization of wages and agrarian inputs, and on the commercial sale of yields (Aass 1986; Hart 1986; Hüsken 1984; Maurer 1984, 1986; Schweizer 1987, forthcoming). The roots of these monetary and commercial developments in the Javanese village economy reach far back into the past (Breman 1983; Carey 1986; Elson 1984; Knight 1982; Svensson 1983). But in the present these changes gain pace. There is evidence, too, that in the field of political relations the diffuse patron-client ties between village officials and the inhabitants in some places yield to a more rationalized, selfish style of leadership (Keeler 1985).

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to examine consumers’ comparative judgment of athlete endorsers in back-toback advertisement settings. Drawing on the inclusion/exclusion model (Schwarz & Bless, 2007), the authors argue that (a) a recently observed athlete endorser impacts consumer judgment of subsequently presented endorsers, and (b) the valence of the impact depends on brand category membership of the consecutively presented endorsers. A 2 (representative endorser activation: present vs. absent) × 2 (brand category membership: membership vs. nonmembership) between-subjects design was administered across three experiments. Results demonstrated that the presence of a representative endorser increased a subsequently presented endorser’s perceived expertise when that subsequent endorser represented the same brand category. Results also demonstrated that the presence of a representative endorser decreased a subsequently presented endorser’s perceived expertise when that subsequent endorser did not represent the same brand category. Overall, these findings support both assimilation and contrast effects. The authors argue how this outcome can assist advertising managers to strategically position appropriate endorsers in marketing platforms.

Abstract:
Annotation. The needs of modern dentistry require constant improvement of research methods of human dental apparatus, parameters of craniofacial structures, determination of congenital and acquired deformities of the dental apparatus and improving the consequences of treatment. Diagnosis of orthodontic pathology is based on the identification of a large number of different indicators, which requires the use of mathematical analysis not only to processing of received parameters, but also to mathematical modelling individual cephalometric, gnatometric indicators, facial soft tissue parameters that affect its profile and aesthetics. The aim of the work is to develop and analyze regression models of teleradiographic indicators of tooth position and facial soft tissue profile indices according to A. M. Schwarz in Ukrainian boys and girls with orthognathic occlusion and with different facial profiles. Lateral teleroentgenograms (TRG) of 49 young men aged 17 to 21 years and 76 young women aged 16 to 20 years with a physiological bite as close as possible to orthognathic were analyzed. In the licensed package “Statistica 6.0” regression models of teeth position and soft tissue profile according to the A. M. Schwarz method are built depending on the basic cephalometric (1st group) and gnatometric (2nd group) indicators separately for young men and young women with different facial profiles according to A. M. Schwarz In young men, 21 of the 24 possible reliable regression models with coefficients of determination greater than 0.6 (R2 = from 0.736 to 0.999) were constructed. For young men with 2 face profile (straight face profile), the following models of all 8 indicators were built, and the coefficients of determination in the models of this group of persons (R2 = from 0.966 to 0.999) were the highest compared to the models of other groups of young men or young women. For young men with 3 face profile (front face profile), models were built for 7 indicators (except for the SnPog'-Pn angle indicator) with R2 from 0.736 to 0.983. For young men with 1 face profile (back face profile), such models were created for 6 indicators (R2 from 0.815 to 0.993) – in addition to the angle II and the angle SnPog'-Pn. A total of 18 models out of 24 possible were built for young women (R2 = from 0.736 to 0.999). In young women with 2 face profile, as well as in young men with this profile, models were constructed for all 8 studied TRG-indicators of tooth position and facial soft tissue indicators according to A.M. Schwarz (R2 = from 0.736 to 0.982), and for young women with 3 face profile – for 7 indicators (except for angle II) with R2 from 0.604 to 0.740. For young women with 1 face profile, the smallest number of models of the studied indicators was constructed in comparison with all groups of young men or young women with different face profiles – only 3 models out of 8 possible: for Sn-Pn distance (R2 = 0.828), Pog'-Por distance (R2 = 0.844) and the angle SnPog'-Pn (R2 = 0.982). Both young men and young women in the created models more often include indicators of 2nd group.

Abstract:
The rate of heteroepitaxial strain relaxation via misfit dislocation introduction is strongly limited by the kinetics of dislocation nucleation, propagation and interaction. Here we describe real-time observations of the interaction between moving threading dislocations and pre-existing interfacial misfit dislocations using in-situ transmission electron microscopy. This was accomplished both during in-situ observations of the heteroepitaxial growth process using a modified ultrahigh vacuum TEM (UHV-TEM) equipped with chemical vapor deposition capabilities, as well as during in-situ anneals of metastable structures grown by molecular beam epitaxy. In Figure 1, we present our UHV-TEM observations of the epilayer thicknesses and compositions at which dislocation interactions result in blocking of the propagating threading segment, and compare these with the theoretical predictions of Freund and those of Schwarz and Tersoff. Our results show that dislocation blocking can significantly affect the overall rate of strain relaxation in these structures. This is important, as blocked threading segments introduce undesired band gap states into electronic devices and can act as easy diffusion paths for impurities and dopants.

Abstract:
Triticum peregrinum Hackel (syn. Aegilops variabilis Eig) and T. kotschyi (Boiss.) Bowden (syn. Ae. kotschyi Boiss.) are closely related allotetraploid species. Previous research indicated that they have a pair of U genomes from diploid T. umbellulatum (Zhuk.) Hackel and a pair of S genomes from a diploid species of Triticum section Sitopsis. To reinvestigate the origin of their genomes, we identified diagnostic bands in Southern blots hybridized with 27 cloned repeated nucleotide sequences and one 5S rRNA gene clone for all diploid species of Triticum L. sensu Bowden. The presence of each diagnostic band was then determined in the two tetraploid species. One pair of the genomes in both tetraploid species was found to be virtually identical to the U genome of T. umbellulatum and the other to the S1 genome of T. longissimum (Schweif. et Muschl.) Bowden or T. sharonense (Eig) Waines &Johnson (syn. Aegilops sharonensis Eig) or the internode in the phylogenetic tree of Triticum immediately preceding the divergence of T. longissimum and T. sharonense. The source of the S genomes in T. kotschyi and T. peregrinum inferred from our data differs from that inferred from cpDNA. This indicates the need to investigate the origin of nuclear genomes with nuclear genetic markers. No evidence for an extensive modification of the S genome relative to that of T. longissimum or T. sharonense was found in either tetraploid.Key words: phylogeny, polyploids, Triticum, Aegilops, Aegilops kotschyi, Aegilops variabilis, genome origin, genome modification.

Abstract:
Abstract. The least absolute selection and shrinkage operator (LASSO) and adaptive LASSO methods have become a popular model in the last decade, especially for data with a multicollinearity problem. This study was conducted to estimate the live weight (LW) of Hair goats from biometric measurements and to select variables in order to reduce the model complexity by using penalized regression methods: LASSO and adaptive LASSO for γ=0.5 and γ=1. The data were obtained from 132 adult goats in Honaz district of Denizli province. Age, gender, forehead width, ear length, head length, chest width, rump height, withers height, back height, chest depth, chest girth, and body length were used as explanatory variables. The adjusted coefficient of determination (Radj2), root mean square error (RMSE), Akaike's information criterion (AIC), Schwarz Bayesian criterion (SBC), and average square error (ASE) were used in order to compare the effectiveness of the methods. It was concluded that adaptive LASSO (γ=1) estimated the LW with the highest accuracy for both male (Radj2=0.9048; RMSE = 3.6250; AIC = 79.2974; SBC = 65.2633; ASE = 7.8843) and female (Radj2=0.7668; RMSE = 4.4069; AIC = 392.5405; SBC = 308.9888; ASE = 18.2193) Hair goats when all the criteria were considered.

Considering the differences in the values of teleroentgenograhic (TRG) indicators in different racial, gender, ethnic, age, population, geographical population groups and numerical methods of TRG analysis, determination of normative values of cephalometric, gnatometric TRG-indicators, their interdependencies in the population of different countries is extremely important both for human anatomy and for the practice of dentists. This fully applies to residents of Ukraine of different age groups. The aim of the work is to develop and analyze regression models of teleroentgenograhic indicators of tooth position and facial soft tissue profile according to Schwarz A.M. in Ukrainian young men and young women with different facial types. Lateral teleroentgenograms of 49 young men (aged 17 to 21 years) and 76 young women (aged 16 to 20 years) with physiological occlusion as close as possible to orthognathic were analyzed. In the license package “Statistica 6.0” regression models of indicators of position of teeth and profile of soft tissues of the face according to the method of Schwarz A.M. depending on basic cephalometric and gnatometric indicators separately for boys and for girls with different types of the face are constructed. In young men, 16 of the 24 possible reliable regression models were constructed, in which the coefficient of determination is greater than 0.6 (R2=from 0.609 to 0.998). For young men with 1st (back face type) and 3rd (front face type) face types, the following models were created with respect to 5 indicators from 8 possible (respectively, angles Max1-SpP S-arz, distances Sn-Pn and Pog’-Por, angles Gl’LsPog’ and SnPog’-Pn; R2 = from 0.609 to 0.998 and angles Max1-SpP S-arz and Mand1-MP Schwars, distances Sn-Pn and Pog’-Por, angle Gl’LsPog’; R2 = from 0.609 to 0.946), and for young men with 2nd face types (average face type according to Schwarz AM) – for 6 indicators (angles Max1-SpP S-arz and Mand1-MP Schwars, distances Sn-Pn and Pog’-Por, angles Gl’LsPog’and SnPog’-Pn; R2 = from 0.690 to 0.990). In young women, 17 of the 24 possible reliable models with R2 greater than 0.6 (R2 = 0.628 to 0.958) were constructed. For young women with 1st type of face 6 indicators are modeled – angles Max1-SpP S-arz, distances Sn-Pn and Pog’-Por, angles Gl’LsPog’and SnPog’-Pn, the distance of Li-SnPog’(R2= from 0.663 to 0.958). For young women with 2nd face type, the following models were created for 7 indicators – angles Max1-SpP S-arz and Mand1-MP Schwars, distances Sn-Pn and Pog’-Por, angles Gl’LsPog’ and SnPog’-Pn, distances Li-SnPog’(R2= from 0.628 to 0.891). For young women with 3rd face type the smallest number of models with R2 larger than 0.6 was built, compared to all groups of persons with different face types – only 4 models for Max1-SpP S-arz angle, Pog’-Por distance, angles Gl’LsPog’ and SnPog’-Pn (R2 from 0.718 to 0.847).

Abstract:
It is widely acknowledge that there has been a major breakthrough in the mathematical theory of option trading. This breakthrough, which is usually summarized by the Black–Scholes formula, has generated a lot of excitement and a certain mystique. On the mathematical side, it involves advanced probabilistic techniques from martingale theory and stochastic calculus which are accessible only to a small group of experts with a high degree of mathematical sophistication; hence the mystique. In its practical implications it offers exciting prospects. Its promise is that, by a suitable choice of a trading strategy, the risk involved in handling an option can be eliminated completely.Since October 1987, the mood has become more sober. But there are also mathematical reasons which suggest that expectations should be lowered. This will be the main point of the present expository account. We argue that, typically, the risk involved in handling an option has an irreducible intrinsic part. This intrinsic risk may be much smaller than the a priori risk, but in general one should not expect it to vanish completely. In this more sober perspective, the mathematical technique behind the Black–Scholes formula does not lose any of its importance. In fact, it should be seen as a sequential regression scheme whose purpose is to reduce the a priori risk to its intrinsic core.We begin with a short introduction to the Black–Scholes formula in terms of currency options. Then we develop a general regression scheme in discrete time, first in an elementary two-period model, and then in a multiperiod model which involves martingale considerations and sets the stage for extensions to continuous time. Our method is based on the interpretation and extension of the Black–Scholes formula in terms of martingale theory. This was initiated by Kreps and Harrison; see, e.g. the excellent survey of Harrison and Pliska (1981,1983). The idea of embedding the Black–Scholes approach into a sequential regression scheme goes back to joint work of the first author with D. Sondermann. In continuous time and under martingale assumptions, this was worked out in Schweizer (1984) and Föllmer and Sondermann (1986). Schweizer (1988) deals with these problems in a general semimartingale model.

The idea of embedding the Black-Scholes approach into a sequential regression scheme goes back to joint work of the first author with D. Sondermann. In continuous time and under martingale assumptions, this was worked out in Schweizer (1984) and Föllmer and Sondermann (1986). Schweizer (1988) deals with these problems in a general semimartingale model.
