Abstract:
The purpose of this research is to find the direction of movement and change of lexicon which is located in Javanese enclave, Carita, Banten. Methods of data collection using observation and interview methods: tapping techniques, fishing techniques, recording techniques, and tekik notes. The method of analysis used is reconstruction method and tree root direction method The research findings that the Java enclave region, Carita, in the Sundanese language area, still holds many relics and original lexicons. The relics lexicon form is a lexicon that is derived directly from the ancient Javanese language without any slight change, either form or meaning. The original form of lexicon is a lexicon that changes at the time of inheritance. Changes that occur in the lexicon can be explained through linguistic rules. The direction of the movement of the relics and the original form of the Javanese dialect of Carita has a tendency of vertical direction, ie the direct inheritance direction of the ancient Javanese language. The direction of the movement of innovative shape changes tends to be horizontal, ie the direction of change that adapts the rules of Sundanese and Malay.

Abstract:
AbstractExtensive past research has attempted to determine whether song dialects represent reproductively isolated social systems, with individuals tending to spend their entire lives in a single dialect. We addressed that issue by analyzing banding data for Brown-headed Cowbirds (Molothrus ater) on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada of California. For 14 years, 1,393 juveniles and 2,568 mature individuals were banded along a 40-km span encompassing three dialects. Of those juvenile and mature birds, 7.9% and 12.1%, respectively, were recaptured in a later year. All classes of mature birds (second-year males, older males, and females) had significantly higher recapture rates than birds banded as juveniles, but there were no differences among the mature classes. Overall, 22.7% of 110 juveniles recaptured in a subsequent year were trapped in a dialect region other than the one in which they were banded, as compared with 8.1% of 310 mature birds. Neither juvenile nor mature birds showed sex-related differences in proportions recaptured in subsequent years in different dialect regions. Birds in all sex-age classes were more likely to have moved to a new dialect region when recaptured in a subsequent year than when recaptured within the year, which suggests that apparent movements between years were cases of dispersal, rather than short-term foraging trips. Although our banding data cannot confirm gene flow, the high levels of movement they show agree with genetic and morphometric studies indicating high levels of gene flow among these cowbird dialects.Patrones de Movimiento de Gran Escala entre Dialectos del Canto de Molothrus ater

Abstract:
This chapter is about the palatalization and assibilation of labial and nasal stops, and of labiodental fricatives. Based on several diachronic pathways, it presents the hypothesis that labial softening is achived through glide fricativization or occlusivization, depending on the language or dialect taken into consideration. A special analysis is performed of labial palatalization and assibilation in the Bantu languages, Romanian dialects, and /Cl/ onset clusters in Romance, where those changes may have taken place once the alveolar lateral shifted to a palatal approximant. In so far as two independent articulators, i.e., lips and tongue, are involved in the production of the labial and labiodental sequences of interest, their diachronic development turns out to be far more complex than the palatalization and softening of velar and dentoalveolar obstruents.
