Abstract:
L’article analyse l’articulation du fantasmatique et de l’autobiographique, c’est-à-dire du rêve et du vécu dans Le baobab fou. Les oppositions stratégiques fonctionnent pour faire des différences le principe d’une unification plus solide par les diverses facettes du même, le rêvé et le vécu ne reflétant plus qu’une même signifiance de l’unité en l’homme d’un espace de vie imaginaire et d’un terrain de frottement à la réalité matérielle. C’est pourquoi, même transcendantal, l’élan dans le rêve se solde par l’échec. Le baobab fou fait voir le voyage dans la géographie d’une vie. Le pari est d’offrir une fresque sans tomber dans le narratif événementiel que le texte joue par associations des semblables à travers le cheminement thématique. La dérive n’est pas progressive, mais scrutation des instants de vie. L’émerveillement du décor encadrant un événement vécu se conjugue à ce qui défile dans l’imagination de celle qui écrit le récit onirique, fantasmatique, révélant d’un coup de verbe un univers, et produisant ainsi le merveilleux par lequel échapper au monde réel et combler ses frustrations, nous rappelant que l’envol réel est hors de ce monde.

Abstract:
The baobab fruit shells were evaluated for their suitability as a substrate for growing oyster mushrooms and compared to three base substrates (wheat straw, maize cobs, and sawdust) of 1 kg dry weight. The duration of developmental stages, mycelium vigor, yield, and biological efficiency of the oyster mushroom from the four different substrates were recorded. Yields from the first 3 harvests (flushes) were considered, as they were the most productive ones. Wheat straw demonstrated significantly ( p < 0.05 ) higher mycelial colonization rate taking an average of 23 days to complete full spawn run followed by baobab fruit shells, sawdust, and maize cobs which took averages of 25.8, 27.2, and 29.5 days, respectively. Baobab fruit shells had the longest number of days taken between full spawn run and first pinhead formation with an average of 14.4 days which was significantly different ( p < 0.05 ) to the wheat straw, sawdust, and maize cobs which had 7.4, 9.4, and 10.5 days. The highest yield was observed on the sawdust which had an average of 682 g followed by wheat straw with 594 g. Maize cobs and baobab fruit shells had the least yield of 518 g and 482 g, respectively. The results showed that baobab fruit shells could be used as a substrate for the cultivation of oyster mushrooms and it can be recommended for commercial cultivation of oyster mushrooms.

Tendo como base as orientações propostas pela lei 10.639/03 e as Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais para Educação das Relações Étnico Raciais de 2004. O objetivo Geral dessa pesquisa está em investigar o Projeto “O Baobá, Árvore que Representa as Raízes da Cultura Africana” realizado na a Escola Municipal Albenice Maria da Silva, Jaboatão dos Guararapes - PE. O projeto compôs o Fórum Escolar de Consciência Negra, que foi realizado na instituição de ensino no ano de 2019. Para fundamentação teórica nos aproximamos os estudos da teoria da afrocentricidade. Como metodologia a análise do conteúdo dos objetivos do projeto entendendo que estes puderam nos mostrar processos pedagógicos que se voltavam e/ou se afastavam de uma perspectiva de educação afrocentrada. Abstract:
This aim of this study is to prepare four novel oil-in-water creams from 100% naturally sourced oil ingredients such as jojoba, baobab and coconut oil, and compare the effect of the oils on the physico-chemical properties of the creams and their short- and long-term stability. Four 100 g each oil-in-water active containing creams and their controls (without the active ingredient) were formulated and stored in eight separate glass jars. The short-term stability of the creams was assessed via phase separation resistance, pH, microscopic size analysis, globule size, zeta potential, conductivity and microbial challenge evaluation after 8, 14 and 28 days, under three different storage temperature conditions (4 °C, 25 °C and 40 °C) and at ambient relative humidity. Model creams IA, IB, IIA, and IIB containing 1:1 of jojoba and baobab oil mix, all had good shelf-life or stability at the end of the 28 days after storage at 4 °C, 25 °C and 40 °C, compared to models IIIA, IVA and pairs. The long-term stability of creams stored at 25 °C for 28 days, was subsequently assessed using the Dynamic Vapor Sorption system. Model creams IB, IIB, IA and IIA showed the lowest percentage moisture loss or change in mass during a period of desorption steps. Therefore, the creams containing a mixture of jojoba and baobab oils are capable of retaining moisture easily for an extended period of time when compared to the creams containing jojoba and coconut oil or baobab and coconut oil combinations, thus they were proven to be the best products in terms of stability and quality. The stability ranking of the creams using the novel DVS method was in congruence with the results from the short-term stability experiments. This novel DVS method can, therefore, be generically applied in the cosmetic, food and pharmaceutical industries for the evaluation of the long-term stability of semisolids.

Abstract:
In a less-favored area such as the Sahel, promoting sustainable management, breeding, and conservation of forestry resources would result in improvements for agroforestry systems and food security. A contingent ranking exercise allowed us to estimate the preferences and the values given by the rural population to the attributes that would be comprised in a conservation program. The resulting preferred program is farmer-managed natural regeneration (FMNR) based on the species Adansonia digitata (baobab), with plantation, stone bunds, or tassa, and selected or bred seeds. The proposed actions to improve the tree density and the seed quality were highly valued by the respondents. Nevertheless, no clear differences were found between tassa and stone bunds, or FMNR and plantation. The main effects of the program, according to the surveyed population, include an increase in crop production and soil conservation, and higher income from tree products. This study allowed us to identify the program that would provide the greatest well-being for farmers, since it would allow them to simultaneously improve both the production of their crops and the production of the woody food species. It was shown that farmers were particularly willing to contribute to a program based on baobab, mainly because its products are used for food in the home and can be sold in markets. In this sense, the yield and production of the system would be improved by increasing the number of baobab trees. Farmers would contribute to this production system and would be willing to invest sustainable effort in the long term. The conservation and breeding program can be directed at conserving and propagating the genetic resources of A. digitata in an initial phase, selecting trees with good production, growth, and adaptation characteristics.

O baobá é uma árvore de múltiplos propósitos e propriedades biológicas; sendo suas raízes, tubérculos, galhos, frutos, sementes, folhas e flores comestíveis e empregados como ingredientes comuns em pratos tradicionais na África. Objetivou-se avaliar a escarificação química com ácido sulfúrico e soda cáustica na superação da dormência tegumentar em sementes de baobá. O delineamento foi o inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial 2 x 4 + 1 (escarificação química: ácido sulfúrico (H2SO4) e soda cáustica (NaOH) x tempos de imersão: 2; 4; 6 e 8 horas + sementes não tratadas (controle)). A eficácia dos tratamentos foi avaliada por meio da emergência, índice de velocidade e tempo médio de emergência, diâmetro do coleto, comprimento e massa seca da parte aérea e do sistema radicular das plântulas normais. Os resultados mostraram que as escarificações químicas com soda cáustica e ácido sulfúrico pelos períodos de 2; 4; 6 e 8 horas causaram a ruptura do tegumento das sementes, o que contribuiu para aumentar a emergência de plântulas de baobá, contudo, a emergência das plântulas das sementes escarificadas com soda cáustica por 2 horas não diferiu dos valores das plântulas oriundas das sementes não tratadas. A soda cáustica e o ácido sulfúrico foram eficientes na superação da dormência tegumentar de sementes de baobá, contudo, a soda cáustica é mais indicada por ser de fácil aquisição e de baixo custo.

Abstract:
The paper focuses on issues raised by Conrad’s Heart of Darkness and on ways in which two recent novels, The Expedition to the Baobab Tree (Stockenstrdni) and The Whales in Lake Tanganyika (Hagerfors) employ the same model of the journey of exploration in order to break down phallo- and eurocentric concepts of language in an attempt to arrive at a new articulation of Africa. In Heart of Darkness Marlow crosses the limits of language in his confrontation with the Other (Kurtz, and Africa, both of which have a female dimension) and has to invent a ‘new’ language, post facto, to explain his discovery to the Woman who awaits him at the other end. In the Stockenstrdm text, the narrator and central personage is already female, but she is illiterate; and in order to articulate her body, in which her journey is subsumed, an implied narrator may have to narrate on her behalf, in a language which first has to liberate itself from the processes of bondage and appropriation to which the slave woman has been subjected all her life. In The Whales in Lake Tanganyika an interiext arises from the dialogue of this narrative with H.M. Stanley's historical journal; and this projects the diarist Shaw as the deconstructor of male and European dichotomies. Shedding conventional langitage, linearity and 'reality’, his diary becomes the translation of an inaccessible ‘new’ language which is the only way in which Spivak’s 'subaltern’ can attain speech to articulate the femininity implicit in Africa.
