Full textThe representation of mental illness in the baoule land is strongly linked with the notion of intervention of symbolic forces entities such as: the spirit of ancestorsthe spirits of the bush - witchraft and some more else - therefore, the treatment of mental disorders is carried on through the only canal of the psychotherapeutic technique. So, this study tries to give prominence to the notion of mental illness, the relationship with socio-cultural structures, the different systems and the models of the therapeutic relationship in traditional baoule society. When and where do these socio-cultural structures intervene? how do traditional healers manage to conduct the therapeutic ritual which consists in fighting and manipulating these symbolic forces? always in the way of suppressing guilt of the sick person, by reconciling him with his group and home environment

Full textThe Baule are famous for their masquerades and masks. Around 1700 migrations waves of Akan coming from Ghana arrived in central Ivory Coast, they integrated autochtonous, south-mande and senufo peoples, then creating baule culture. Contrary to the present non-Akan Baule's neighbors (guro, wan, yaure and senufo) wich form with them central Ivory Coast area the Akan usually do not have any masks. A brief analyze of the three baule masquerades (Goli, Bonu Amuen and Ngblo) and the ones of their neighbors shows formal and functional similarities. This thesis starts from the assumption that baule art has built-in on gradually from different sources and borrowings since the XVIIIe century during bade culture was developing. Its purpose is to comparatively understand how and when the style of the baule's masks has flourished, how can this style had becoming aesthetically and culturally independent from the other styles of central Ivory Coast. Comparisons take place in three ways: from the artistic context to the locating of the different relationships between Baule's masks and those of their neighbors', going through an analysis of forms. Regarding the colonialism statement that one style does correspond to one tribe, one must had created a more realistic an opening view of the African people and their art's styles. Thus after studying the formal meanings of the art works, searching and sometime discovering their own personal style (one of a specific artist), looking for the iconographic tendencies, one have tried to explore and go back to the routes of borrowings. By this way, we give an extremely contrastive and very complex spectrum of the stylistic relationships. Datings, as the evolutive account of the styles and their aesthetic characterizations -three themes who has been developed in conclusion- are very essential datas in history of art. In central Ivory Coast as in other areas of black Africa, history and styles, history and arts are undoubtedly linked. Also in order to analyze them there is an absolute necessity to recognize history of African art as a complete and genuine discipline this last aspect making up the ultimate topic of these research

Full textIn african traditional midst the use of the contraception method depends on the cultural barriers which express themselves through a systematic refusal of these means. In order to understand the reasons of this resistance we concerned ourselves in studying three traditional ethnic groups in Cote d’Ivoire which on the Baoule, the dioula and the dida from illiterate population. We wanted to know the variable capable of being involved in the representation of the contraception by the population : our hypotheses are the following ; -can one's attachement or faith for the contraception ? -can the age, the religions confession, the ethnic group, the leage, the number of children in charge, the sex, one's perception of deviance, the belief of mythology influence one's attitude ? 324 subjects that is 162 men and 162 women from 18 to 70 years old and more have been inquired. The valuation of the answers is obtained thanks to a scape of value varying from 1 to 6. The method of the conversation has also been used. The results we obtained from the statistic method of analysis of variance and the analysis in main composents proved that the variables above mentioned are very determinant factors of the attitudes of the subjects, but here the exagenous factors like the economical variables linked to modernism have fashioned the position. .

Full textThe question of the celebration of Christian funerals in a context of dual religious affiliation among the Baoulés of Côte d'Ivoire obliges us to focus our reflection on the theology of the inculturation of faith. On reconsidering moreover the concept of dual affiliation, it can be argued that this notion becomes a requirement of inculturation understood as a "dramadialogy". It fits into a logic of dialogue between Christianity and Baoulé religious beliefs in the course of which the elements of the Baoulé culture die off to their non-values for a transfigurative resurrection. But at the same time, by welcoming this message, this culture enriches the heritage of the Church. The reappropriation of the Christian theological discourse on death and funeral rituals from a perspective of African sense is the peculiar feature of this theological construction which is also to be situated within the limits of this same semantic field of the process of inculturation seen as a "dramadialogy". We should not forget, however, to point out that this entire trajectory of inculturated thanatic theology, enlightened by the actuality of the paschal mystery, must also open up to the Pentecostal catholicity of the Church

Full textPeople who try understand how the government of Ivory Coast proceeds have a tendency to ignore all that makes up ethnics' humanity: in their feelings, emotions and passions. Today the government can pull out disarrays from ethnics' by returning to them what they have lost. Such was the meaning of the political evolution of Ivory Coast since its independence. Myths and powers set out the simple principles of this policy. It is not a matter of representing the world of objects but ethnics' inner life and to show their emotions through baoules’. The comprehension of these ambiguities must be thoroughly analysed as many as ethnics' are concerned. Difficult job when to arrest them require a strange work of concept, in order to forge the symbolic which translate the result. For the modernism direct us to the symbolic operation making the affection between ethnics' and the colonist with the power tonality. If the ivories are kind and strength, myths and powers expose the meaning of Houphouet-Boigny's power in the depths of their existence. Ambiguous demonstration without the intermediary of language, concept and rough data, makes it possible to understand the symbolic policy of Ivory Coast. It will enable F. Houphouet-Boigny to mark his country history, indeed the image fabricated for him he has substitute a myth that will last larger than reign. It has been instinct of eternity

Full textSince their discovery, the wall paintings from Bawit aroused art historians’ interest, especially among scholars of the Christian East. They are an emblematic corpus of Coptic art, in the transition period between the Late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages. Their significance is even more exceptional, considering the fact that they are very few around the Mediterranean basin. While echoing the largely extinct early byzantine buildings, they reflect a flourishing monastic community at the beginning of the Arab era. They are also a valuable source of information, complementary to the texts, about the spiritual life of the Egyptian monks. This study is the result of a synthesis between the proofreading of the archives and the data provided by the recent investigations. The new start of excavations on the site invited us to reconsider all the pictorial material discovered at the beginning of the 20th century, in order to clarify the function and the date of the said “chapels”, in the light of the iconographic programs and new discoveries. Finally, it gives a unique insight of the painters who have worked at Bawit and who have transmitted, through their pictorial work, an image of their community and a part of the Egyptian spirituality

ABSTRACT
The research was conducted in the Fina, part of biosphere reserve of « boucle du Baoulé » (RBBB) in Mali. This reserve consists of 3 areas, Badinko, Kongosambougou and Fina. Fina area is the most important for its rich fauna, this study was done. The climatic conditions pejoration and the impacts of increasing human pressures have led to ecosystem degradation, particularly plant biodiversity of the Fina reserve. In this study we have updated data on plant diversity and its variation based on the device of biosphere reserve zoning based on the pressure degree (protects systems). The objective of this thesis was to test the main hypothesis that protected areas are witness spaces of natural settings conservation that, compared to the disturbed areas, would characterize plant biodiversity evolution. Two approaches were used to address this study: synchronic and diachronic approach. Our results showed that the vegetation structural factors vary with the environment (zones) and geomorphology. The correlations between vegetation and ecological factors showed that the disturbance gradient is a major factor in the floristic variability. Human pressure intensification in disturbed habitats and resulting vegetation degradation do not currently induce any decrease of diversity in the reserve. In local similar environmental conditions as is the Fina reserve case, zoning characterizing the human impact levels is as important as the soil texture factors that are related to geomorphological conditions in the floristic structure. The phytosociological results showed the individualization of 10 plant groups in disturbed habitats, including 6 with a tendency to shrubby savanna and 4 in undisturbed environments marked by the disappearance of the vegetation original forms. The highest density of species is observed in plant communities of the plain and valley units in all the three zones. It is also in these units that basal area for trees over 8 m and pastoral value are important. The herbaceous species of good fodder value recovery reduction in particular the perennial causes the environmental degradation, and the pastoral value reduction that is independent of biodiversity. Temporal dynamics of the forest landscape composition of the reserve showed an opening of the landscape characterized by an expansion of arable land in the transition zone to the protected area of the reserve, the decrease in savanna area and gradual transformation landscape in shrubby savanna.
An extension of our study approach in the Badinko and Kongosambougou reserves could help establishing a monitoring of the spatial and temporal vegetation evolution and putting the rational politics bases of Baoulé biosphere reserve conservation.

Full textThe use and practice of infographic restitutions in the field of built-up material vestiges has always been an important foundation in research and scientific experiments. This thesis questions the role of digital models from the excavation to representation of research results. The main body of this thesis cornes from interviews with and discussions of several groups of experts. Research in the field of archaeological and virtual reconstruction of ancient buildings gathers researchers from a variety of professions and possessing different sets of skills. Among them, professional abilities of three groups (the architect, the archaeologist and the IT expert) have been discussed. For the public, the virtual reconstitution of digital models using computers can guarantee and lead to a suitable representation in exhibitions. This thesis is based on four approaches: a bibliographic approach, interviews with experts, a public survey and the analysis of case studies. Suggestions which may improve the nnultidisciplinary work are: to utilise results from source analysis, conduct interviews and surveys to understand the expectations of each nominated groups, finding the possible ways of interacting between these experts and proposing the potential solutions. We are interested in aligning the expectations of those expert groups through these digital models. These approaches will also involve the use of digital models in the form of representation and museum devices in exhibition spaces. In this context, the concept of digital model can lead to the basis for exchange and communication of ideas

Taking the Great Baode Monastery in Fengyuan as the objective and via the Luan Hall beliefs in the Great Baode Monastery, this study makes an observation of organizers’ traveling process and their operation methods so as to demonstrate characteristics and development of the Great Baode Monastery. Research results are shown as follows. Firstly, the Great Baode Monastery was developed following the operation model of the Luan Hall. Construction of the monastery was mainly based on the organizer Wu Zhenfeng’s different opinions and operation methods after his experience in the north port of Shengde Palace and new society of Gongheng Hall. Therefore, during development process of the Great Baode Monastery, it not only retained characteristics of the traditional Luan Hall, but was also adapted to new development during transition of the new society. Secondly, in terms of organization in development and activities of dharma assembly, the Great Baode Monastery currently meets difficulties of inadequate human resource and non-transparent resources. Activities of dharma assembly demonstrate organizers’ operation methods in absorbing believers and assistance and solution provided by organizers for difficulties of worshipers. Thirdly, writing of the book about the Great Baode Monastery in Fuluan and printing and publication of relevant magazines form an explanation on doctrine. The book and magazines were published through the Baode Magazine aiming at telling worshipers and the public society how books on the Great Baode Monastery written in Fuluan made persuasion and reflection when facing changes of modern society.

Due to the rapid development of the city, causing the surface topography changes, so that the agricultural depression of the original function of the flood has disappeared completely, and because of climate change, hydrological extreme events continue to occur, resulting in significant increase in rainfall runoff, resulting in urban areas whenever heavy rain often due to vent less rain and water. The specific district of Cheng Ching Lake and Fengshan-Chishan area in Kaohsiung City, due to the upstream Becks Lake detention function is obviously insufficient, leading to downstream fining road, rainwater culvert capacity Yihua intersection of row can not be satisfied that the upstream one hundred armor Shenzhen, Chishan first and second local area Shenzhen Fengshan area A and the area outside the main line into the water drainage, the village Baoye, Baohwa and Wenfu was often due to heavy rainfall caused water. Setting flood detention pond can be adjusted to address the flooding caused by the less urban areas drainage for urban development near the detention pool area also has a great influence. In this paper, Baoye detention pond is considered as an example to discuss the specific district of Cheng Ching Lake and Chishan-Fengshan area thus reducing the flooded area, reducing the chance of flooding flood control function, other functions livelihood benefits, including peacetime as near public recreation places, so that urban flood control flood control integrated into the city life, but also to create the urban landscape construction, promote the development of regional environmental ancillary benefits. The results show Baoye detention pond after setting the surrounding region's population growth rate close to 4.5%, the present value of the land announcement grow 385%, prompted traders proximity to land and housing it more warm, and thus attract more people to live in this, apparent setting the detention pond is not only just because of flood control is more effective to improve the living conditions of the environment and to promote regional development.

Abstract In the process of development of modern architecture in Taiwan, the post-war two decades (1950-70) were a great significant stage. However, Han Baode, the most influential architects in Taiwan, dedicated to promoting the general education of integrating architecture and aesthetics. He had extraordinary contributions w the reform of architectural education in Taiwan. Mr Han’s architectural works in the early stage of his practice in Taiwan were deeply influenced by postmodernism. Because he studied the master’s program of Architecture at Harvard and Master’s program of Arts at Princeton right at the time following the modernism and the beginning of the postmodernism movements. This research is focused on some of Han Bode's representative architectural works as research objects. Han Baode was deeply influenced by Louis I.K. Architecture since he studied aboard in the United States. Han Baode established the contrasts of research objects from the three cultural and educational buildings by Louis I.kahn. These comparative objects analysed the spatial plans by rules of shape grammar and spatial hierarchy and then reviewed the architectural characteristics of research objects with relevant literature review and connotation. Through research objects analysis and grammar operation, the results are merged into a tree analysis chart, and the shape grammar deduction operation process is tabularly analyzed. The specific operation process summarizes the following five steps: 1、 Re-drawing the plan of research objects and the control objects that were collected and plotted, and analysed the composition of the plane space to summarize the common rules and characteristics of the grammar operation. 2、 Using the research objects to customize the shape grammar generation rules. The actual arrangement of the grammar operation process, as the basis for summarizing the commonality of statistical building vocabulary. 3、 Using ‘Shape Grammar’ as a rule. The actual operation objects and the comparative objects analysis are used to verify the commonality and feasibility of the grammar and are summarized into a tree analysis chart and a grammar rule induction table. 4、 Grammar rules are used to summarize the correlations and differences between the statistical tables, the analysis of research objects and the grammar generation rules of the comparative objects, and to effectively establish a logical analysis system. 5、 Through the research objects and the comparative objects analysis of the spatial plane composition, we can gain an in-depth understanding of the design of Han-baode and Lukang's customary architectural graphic design, which can be used as a reference basis for other related architectural designs in the future.
