Abstract:

The regularization of the wintering status of the Jack Snipe (Lymnocryptes minimus) in NW Italy has been confirmed for the first time within the heathland of the “Baraggia di Candelo Natural Reserve” (Piedmont, Biella). Regular monitoring from winter 2009/2010 to winter 2015/2016 allowed to describe the phenology and the abundance of the species in the area comparing it with that of an ally species, the Common Snipe (Gallinago gallinago). A maximum count of 6 birds during winter and at least 13 individuals during the spring migration were recorded. The species was more abundant during the second 10-day period of November and the first 10-day period of March. Jack Snipe outnumber the Common Snipe throughout the period they were censused.

Abstract:

V tem prispevku poskušamo prikazati nekaj poglavitnih slogovnih značilnosti kronike jezuitskega kolegija v Ljubljani, s prevajanjem katere se prof. Marija Kiauta ukvarja že nekaj let. Gre za delo z izvirnim naslovom Historia annua Collegii Labacensis (okrajšano kot HACL), ki ima v rokopisu 521 strani in sega od leta 1596 - 1691. Pri pričujoči analizi gre pravzaprav za tri razdelke, ki vsi temeljijo na obdelavi primerov. Ti so vedno navedeni tako v latinščini (gre za prepis rokopisa, katerega levji delež je oskrbel mag. France Baraga, strani 138-163 pa p. Angel Kralj) kot v slovenskem prevodu prof. Kiautove, ki pa še ni povsem dokončen. Vsi so tudi opremljeni z letnico in s številko strani, kjer se najdejo v rokopisu.

Abstract:

El Dengue constituye la enfermedad viral transmitida por artrópodos de mayor importancia médica y la más importante en términos de morbilidad y mortalidad por consiguiente es importante la vigilancia del dengue. Se realizó un estudio observacional tipo transversal desde enero a diciembre del 2017 en el Laboratorio de Tecnología Avanzada SUMA del Centro Provincial de Higiene, Epidemiología y Microbiología (CPHEM) de Ciego de Ávila, Cuba. Las muestras de sueros fueron tomadas de personas con SFI (Síndromes Febriles Inespecíficos) a partir del 6to día de la fecha de inicio de los síntomas para detectar anticuerpos IgM contra dengue, para lo cual se utilizó el ensayo inmunoenzimático UMELISA IgM Dengue Plus. El mes de mayor reactividad fue octubre (25,99%) y los municipios más afectados con reactividad fueron Baragüa (20%), Ciego de Ávila (11,99%), Morón (11,86%) y Ciro Redondo (11,11%) que fueron municipios que tuvieron transmisión. El suero control interno positivo y negativo del ensayo estuvo bajo control estadístico. La concordancia entre los ensayos fue de 86,60 % y la prevalencia para el ensayo UMELISA DENGUE IgM Plus fue de10,32 %.

Abstract:

Prispevek obravnava izselitveno politiko ZDA do indijanskih plemen vzhodno od reke Misisipi, ki je bila utemeljena z nakupom Louisiane leta 1803 in z izvajanjem »civilizacijskega načrta«. S tem načrtom so bili postavljeni temelji za politiko zvezne vlade do Indijancev in za njihovo izselitev zahodno od reke Misisipi. S sprejetjem Zakona o izselitvi Indijancev leta 1830 se je začelo obdobje sistematičnega nasilnega izseljevanja Indijancev zahodno od reke Misisipi, ki so bili deležni etnocidnih pritiskov takratne uradne ameriške politike. Leta izvajanja tega zakona se časovno prekrivajo z začetki delovanja slovenskega misijonarja in škofa Ireneja Friderika Baraga (1797–1868) med Indijanci. Uspeh njegovega delovanja in njegovih naslednikov se ne kaže le v širjenju krščanskega nauka in pismenosti med Otavci in Očipvejci, ampak tudi v njihovem prilaganju belskemu načinu življenja; prav zato vlada ZDA pretežnega dela teh dveh indijanskih plemen ni izselila zahodno od reke Misisipi na podlagi Zakona o izselitvi Indijancev leta 1830.

Abstract:

A rhyolite in the Hemlock Formation, a mostly bimodal submarine volcanic deposit that is laterally correlative with the Negaunee Iron-formation, yields a sensitive high-resolution ion microprobe (SHRIMP) UPb zircon age of 1874 ± 9 Ma, but also contains inherited Archean zircons as old as 3.8 Ga. This precise age determination for the classic Paleoproterozoic stratigraphic sequence of northern Michigan, the Marquette Range Supergroup (MRS), necessitates modification of previous depositional and tectonic models. Our new data indicate that the Menominee Group, previously ascribed to continental rifting during early, pre-collision phases of the Penokean orogenic cycle, is coeval with arc-related volcanic rocks now preserved as accreted terranes immediately to the south and is more aptly interpreted as a foredeep deposit. We interpret these to be second-order basins created by oblique subduction of the continental margin rather than basins formed on a rifting margin. Along with a recently reported age for the Gunflint Formation in Ontario of 1878 ± 2 Ma, our data suggest that an extensive foredeep in the western Lake Superior region was the locus of iron-formation deposition during arc accretion from the south. Further, we interpret the lower MRS (Chocolay Group), a glaciogenic and shallow-marine succession that lies atop Archean basement, to be equivalent to the upper part of the Huronian Supergroup of Ontario and to represent the original continental rifting and passive-margin phase of the Penokean cycle. The upper MRS (Baraga Group) represents deeper marine basins, dominated by turbidites and lesser volcanic rocks, resulting from increased subsidence and continued collision. A stitching pluton, which cuts correlatives of the Hemlock Formation in a thrust sheet, yielded a UPb zircon age of 1833 ± 6 Ma, consistent with other post-tectonic plutons in Wisconsin and northern Michigan, indicating that Penokean convergence lasted no longer than ~40 million years.

Abstract:

Sarcasm, often obvious in spoken language, is notoriously difficult to detect in texts, and all the more so when language, culture, and temporal distance hinder the process of decoding tone and intent while reading. Yet it cannot be ignored, since sarcasm, variously defined, appears in premodern texts and at times plays a pivotal role in dialogue and narrative. This volume grapples with these ambiguous, ambivalent layers of usually-ironic wordplay, ranging in time from the early Middle Ages through the seventeenth century and geographically across Europe and the Arabic-speaking world in fourteen contributions primarily treating the medieval period in Europe west of the Oder.

Abstract:

V poročilu o angleško pisani slovnici Friderika Barage A Theoretical and Practical Grammar of the Otchipwe Language (Detroit, 1850) je predstavljeno eno najvidnejših del t. i. misijonske ling-vistike. Kljub temu da ga je kot pionirsko delo s tega jezikoslovnega področja opravil prav slovenski misijonar, doslej v slovenskem prostoru še ni bilo predstavljeno. Z osnovno strukturo slovnice so v sestavku prikazane značilnosti očipvejščine kot manj znanega neindoe-vropskega jezika ter Baragov konceptualni pristop. Slovnica je bila namreč po njegovem mnenju nujna predhodna stopnja za že snujoči slovar očipvejskega jezika, ki mu je nekaj let kasneje dal naslov A Dictionary of the Otchipwe Language (prim, predstavitev tega slovarja v Jezikoslovnih zapiskih 6).
