The genera Boonea Robertson, 1978, Chrysallida Carpenter, 1856, Fargoa Bartsch, 1909, Ivara Dall & Bartsch, 1903, Mumiola A. Adams, 1863, Odostomella Bucquoy, Dautzenberg & Dollfus, 1883, Parthenina Bucquoy, Dautzenberg & Dollfus, 1883 and Trabecula Dall & Bartsch, 1909 from Brazil are reviewed. Boonea jadisi (Olsson & McGinty, 1958), Boonea seminuda (C. B. Adams, 1839), Chrysallida gemmulosa C. B. Adams, 1850, Ivara terryi (Olsson & McGinty, 1958), Fargoa bushiana Bartsch, 1909, Mumiola gradatula (Mörch, 1876) and Odostomella carceralis Pimenta, Absalão & Alencar, 2000 are confirmed to occur in Brazil. We also present the first records of Parthenina varia (Odé, 1993), Odostomella fonteini (Jong & Coomans, 1988) and Trabecula krumpermanni (Jong & Coomans, 1988) from the region, all, new combinations. Two species, previously reported from the Brazilian coast, could not be confirmed: Boonea bisuturalis (Say, 1822) and Boonea impressa (Say, 1822). Odostomella cf. doliolum (Philippi, 1844) and Parthenina cf. interspatiosa (Linden & Eikenboom, 1992), originally described from the eastern Atlantic, are here recorded from Brazil, although their status remains dubious because of lack of information on their biology and due to lack of morphological and molecular data. One new species is described: Boonea scymnocelata, which can be distinguished from the similar species B. seminuda by its smaller size and immersed protoconch, with no visible nucleus.

Abstract:
This paper clarifies the confusion relating to the publication of Carlos de la Torre & Paul Bartsch’s taxonomic study of theCuban Urocoptidae. This massive work, which described >500 new taxa, was completed in manuscript form in 1943, butwas not published during the authors’ lifetime. In 1972 Miguel Jaume and Alfredo de la Torre (a nephew of C. de la Torre)published a slightly modified version of a large portion of this manuscript in the Circulares del Museo y Biblioteca deZoología de la Habana, a mimeographed journal which is available for taxonomic purposes per ICZN Code Article 8. The420 new taxa introduced in this paper were made available under the ICZN Code (even though many were differentiatedonly in identification keys) and should be attributed to C. de la Torre & Bartsch because the descriptions were copied fromthe 1943 manuscript and Jaume & A. de la Torre explicitly credited this work to the former two authors (per Article 50 ofthe 1964 edition of the ICZN Code). The 1972 paper does not delineate type material for most of the new species-grouptaxa; however the detailed information provided in the 1943 manuscript constitutes valid evidence of the type series perICZN Code (1999) Article 72.2. The 1972 paper was republished by Jaume & A. de la Torre in 1976 in the Ciencias Bi-ológicas of the Universidad de la Habana. In 1980 Jaume & A. de la Torre prepared a typescript describing the remainingnew taxa from the 1943 manuscript, which was slated to be published in the Circulares; however we have not found anyevidence that it was distributed or otherwise made available in a manner satisfying the ICZN Code criteria for availability. In 2008 Carolina de la Torre, grand-niece of C. de la Torre, published the entire 1943 manuscript in a book of more than760 pages that was printed in Havana. The authorship of this book was credited to C. de la Torre & Bartsch. The bookdescribes as new the taxa already treated in the 1972 paper as well as 130 additional taxa, which also should be attributedto C. de la Torre & Bartsch. We briefly discuss the disposition of the Cuban urocoptid material studied by C. de la Torre & Bartsch and the subsequent citations to their taxonomic study of this fauna.

Abstract:
Curtitoma nodulosa (Krause, 1885) comb. nov. Curtitoma nodulosa (Krause, 1885) comb. nov., a rare species that was found only in the bays of the Chukotka Peninsula. Firstly it was described as Bela violacea var. nodulosa Krause, 1885, secondly – as Lora inequita Dall, 1919. It differs from Curtitoma violacea (Mighels et Adams, 1842) by the presence of well-defined axial folds, nodes on the keels, and a dagger-like type of radular teeth. From other members of genus Curtitoma Bartsch, 1941 it differs by the presence of keels. The specimens of «Oenopota inequita Dall, 1919» from the Sea of Japan [Bogdanov, 1990] belong to another species of genus Obesotoma Bartsch, 1941. It is proposed to consider Curtitoma nodulosa as a valid name, and Lora inequita as its junior synonym. Key words: Curtitoma nodulosa (Krause, 1885), Mangeliidae, Bering Sea, synonymy, re-description.

Abstract:
In the estuary of the Mamanguape River (Paraíba, Brazil), a new collection technique was developed and applied with virgin poles of mangrove trees Avicennia schaueriana (Verbenaceae), Rhizophora mangle (Rhizophoraceae), and Laguncularia racemosa (Combretaceae), taking into account wood preference, water salinity and depth influence during teredinid larval settlement. Sets of poles were vertically fixed in the riverbed at three sites along a decreasing salinity gradient, where they stayed for four months. The poles were collected and divided into upper, median, and lower segments, in agreement with different immersion regimes. An increase of 239% was obtained in the number of individuals when compared to a previous study in the same area using a different methodology. The species Teredo bartschi (Clapp, 1923), Nausitora fusticula (Jeffreys, 1860) and Bankia fimbriatula Moll & Roch, 1931 were registered in both studies, and the species Psiloteredo healdi (Bartsch, 1931) is here registered for the first time as occurring in that estuary. The species Neoteredo reynei (Bartsch, 1920), previously registered on tree branches of the mangrove habitat, was not found in the present work. Bankia fimbriatula, the most abundant species, did not show preference for any substratum but occurred significantly on the lower segment of the poles. N. fusticula, second in abundance, preferred to settle on poles of A. schaueriana and on any of the three segments. Aiming to assess the habitat variations, a more accurate study on teredinids diversity in mangrove ecosystems should be performed through a concomitant analysis from tree branches of the mangrove habitat, as well as from poles of mangrove trees or panels made of pine wood or mangrove trees wood. These collection devices should be maintained along a decreasing salinity gradient exposed to different tide levels.

Abstract:
Scissurella dalli Bartsch, 1903, from the southwestern Atlantic Ocean has been reported at least six times in the malacological literature. However, the species is thus far known only from the original description; it was never fi gured; and the type material is missing from the original repository, the United States National Museum, Smithsonian Institution. In the present study, we examine specimens of a scissurellid collected adjacent to the type locality of Scissurella dalli, and evaluate their identity. These specimens proved to correspond to Scissurella clathrata Strebel, 1908. Even though this species shows some similarity with the original description of Scissurella dalli, the vague description by Bartsch lacking details and even containing contradictory indications, led us to the conclusion that they are not conspecifi c. Thus, Scissurella clathrata is reported for the first time at the type locality of S. dalli, and the latter remains as a nomen dubium.

Abstract:
Cytochromes are found in all biological oxidation Systems which involve transport of reducing equivalents through organized chains of membrane bound intermediates, regardless of the ultimate oxidant (Keilin, 1966; Bartsch, 1978; Meyer & Kamen, 1982). Thus, cytochromes are present not only in the aerobic mitochondrial and bac-terial respiratory chain, but are also found in much more diversified procariotic Systems, including all varieties of facultative anaerobes (nitrate and nitrite reducers), obligate anaerobes (sulphate reducers and phototrophic sulphur bacteria), facultative photoheterotrophes (phototrophic non-sulphur purple bacteria), and the photoautotrophic cyanobacteria (blue-green algae). Among the different types of cytochromes occurring in the cell, the soluble c-type cytochromes (‘class I’, Meyer & Kamen, 1982) are the most abundant and best characterized group of proteins (Bartsch, 1978; Meyer & Kamen, 1982; Dickerson & Timkovitch, 1975; Lemberg & Barrett, 1973; Salemme, 1977; Ferguson-Miller, Brautigan & Margoliash, 1979). The amino acid sequences of more than 80 mitochrondrial and close to 40 bacterial cytochromes c are known (Meyer & Kamen, 1982; Dickerson & Timkovitch, 1975; Schwartz & Dayhoff, 1976; Dayhoff & Barker, 1978).

Turbonilla obsoleta Dall, 1892, described as a variety of T. puncta, exhibits great deal of intraspecific variation in shell morphology and is considered as valid at the specific level. Turbonilla deboeri Jong & Coomans, 1988, Turbonilla westermanni Jong & Coomans, 1988 and Turbonilla punicea Dall, 1884 share a spiral sculpture pattern very similar to T. puncta, differing in the outline of the whorls, details of the ribs and/or width of the protoconch. Turbonilla puncta, T. deboeri, T. obsoleta and T. westermanni are reported for the first time from the Brazilian coast. Turbonilla tupinamba n. sp. is described from the southeast coast of Brazil and is distinguished from the conchologically related T. puncta and T. deboeri, by the shape of the ribs, outline of the whorls and growth pattern of the shell.

Abstract:
In this paper, we study the existence of infinitely many periodic solutions for the non-autonomous second-order Hamiltonian systems with symmetry. Based on the minimax methods in critical point theory, in particular, the fountain theorem of Bartsch and the symmetric mountain pass lemma due to Kajikiya, we obtain the existence results for both the superquadratic case and the subquadratic case, which unify and sharply improve some recent results in the literature.

Abstract:
AbstractIn this paper I argue that Philo's Embassy to Gaius makes use of the literary paradigm of theatricality, a strategy of representation marked by the portrayal of multiple and competing discourses amongst those in unequal relations of power, as well as an emphasis on the arts of acting and discernment. The Embassy marks an appearance of the theatrical paradigm which is earlier than its use by Tacitus, whose portrayal of Nero in the Annals Shadi Bartsch has seen as the harbinger of this theme in Roman historiography.

Abstract:
Differences in the mineralogy of hinge teeth and inner shell layers in the family Dimyidae form the basis for a revision of genera. The stem genusAtreta(Late Triassic to Late Cretaceous) has aragonitic denticulate hinge teeth on the right valve articulating with pitted sockets on the left valve. The same arrangement is present inNeoatretan. gen. (Paleocene? Miocene to Recent) but with the appearance of extensive calcitic overarching of the resilifer. InDimyella(Eocene to Recent), aragonitic teeth and sockets are still present but are modified into hook shaped denticulate teeth with corresponding sockets. All three of these genera have inner aragonitic crossed-lamellar shell layers that extend well outside the pallial line. In contrast,Dimya(Eocene to Recent) andBasiliomya(Pliocene to Recent) comprise a second clade in which aragonitic hinge teeth are absent and hinge articulation is calcitic, derived from the calcitic rim.Dimyahas only weak hinge articulation and has an aragonitic inner shell layer delimited by the pallial line; inBasiliomyacalcitic hinge teeth are more prominent and the entire inner shell layer inside the pallial line is foliated calcite.Diploschiza(Cretaceous, Albian to Maastrichtian), here reinstated from synonymy withAtreta, is probably a precursor of theDimya-Basiliomyaclade based on incipient calcitic hinge teeth. Predation pressures probably drove the evolution of this cemented family from its original habitat on hardgrounds in moderately deep water into much greater depths or into cryptic habitats, including submarine caves.New combinations areDimyella malnatrensis(Corselli and Bernocchi),D. molokaia(Dall, Bartsch, and Rehder),D. similis(v. Koenen),Neoatreta dissimilis(Tate),N. filipina(Bartsch),N. kaiparaensis(Laws),N. phaidra(Woodring),and N. plana(Martin).

Abstract:
This comment briefly examines the history of entertainment research in media psychology and welcomes the conceptual innovations in the contribution by Oliver and Bartsch (this issue). Theoretical perspectives for improving and expanding the “appreciation” concept in entertainment psychology are outlined. These refer to more systematic links of appreciation to the psychology of mixed emotions, to positive psychology, and to the psychology of death and dying – in particular, to terror management theory. In addition, methodological challenges are discussed that entertainment research faces when appreciation and the experience of “meaning for life” need to be addressed in empirical studies of media enjoyment.

Abstract:
North Atlantic and Arctic representatives of the family Pyramidellidae had been intensively studied during the last decades. A valuable contribution was made by Warén (1989; 1991; 1993), who partially revised several genera from the Scandinavian waters. Norwegian representatives of the family were reviewed by Høisæter (2014). Distribution and diagnostic of many species had been specified by Schander (1995) and Nekhaev (2011; 2014; 2017). However, in the Eurasian Arctic Seas (except for the SW Barents Sea) only five species of Pyramidellidae had been recorded (Golikov et al. 2001; Kantor & Sysoev 2006; Nekhaev 2017): Liostomia eburnea (Stimpson, 1851), Chrysallida sublustris (Friele, 1886), Amaura candida (Møller, 1842), Amaura arctica (Dall et Bartsch, 1909) and Menestho truncatula Odhner, 1915.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to respond to the essay by Cleveland and Bartsch in this issue. The paper also aims to counter argue the various drivers of global consumer culture (GCC). Design/methodology/approach Based on many findings from the study of consumer behavior, the assumed drivers of GCC are discussed and a suggestion for new research is made. Findings Instead of globalization processes that drive GCC, the most dominant process is a local-global-local cycle of global products and brands. Originality/value It offers a different approach to the study of global vs local products and brands. It is suggested that instead of continuing abstract discussions of GCC, scholars do more service to international marketing by researching developments in the real world.

Abstract:
Abstract. Recent approaches in entertainment research have extended the scope from hedonic gratifications (fun, suspense) to meaningful and thought-provoking entertainment experiences (appreciation). The present research examines the cross-national measurement validity of these theoretical constructs by testing the factorial structure of the German version of the Appreciation, Fun, and Suspense scales developed by Oliver and Bartsch (2010) . Measurement invariance of the scales across US-American ( N = 262) and German ( N = 274) samples is examined by reanalyzing data sets from two published studies. Findings support the theoretically assumed three-factorial model of the German scale and partial scalar invariance across samples. In addition, exploratory analyses of a third data set ( N = 200) revealed that an alternative wording for an item of the Suspense scale may be superior.

Abstract:
Two new species, Copidognathus angusticeps spec. nov. and C. parvulus spec. nov., are described. The two species are from the southern coast of Western Australia, from Esperance. Copidognathus angusticeps has a long, slender gnathosoma, the rostrum is about as long as the gnathosomal base, major parts of the dorsal and ventral plates are punctate, the hardly delimited porose areolae have a similar ornamentation, the epimeral pores are enlarged. In C. parvulus the slender rostrum is almost twice as long as the gnathosomal base, the dorsal and ventral plates are almost smooth except for the sharply delimited areolae with rosette pores. Copidognathus amaurus Bartsch, 1999 and C. australensis (Lohmann, 1909), which are new records in the Esperance fauna, are also characterized by an elongate gnathosoma, but are not closely related with any of the two new species.
