Basaloid follicular hamartoma is a rare, benign, skin adnexal tumor. Several clinical patterns have been reported, but they all share the same histopathological features. BFH may be hereditary or nonhereditary and can be accompanied by systemic diseases. Microscopic examination of BFH shows branching cords and anastomosing strands of basaloid cells in a loose, fibrous stroma. The most important pathological differential diagnosis is infundibulocystic basal cell carcinoma. These two lesions must be differentiated carefully based on clinical presentation and histopathological picture, and even m

Background: Basaloid squamous cell carcinoma is a rare aggressive variant of squamous cell carcinoma, with a predilection for the head and neck region. There are only two case reports in the literature documenting a nasal cavity squamous cell carcinoma presenting as a primary cutaneous lesion. Objective: We report a rare case of nasal cavity basaloid squamous cell carcinoma presenting initially as a nasal bridge mass. Two initial biopsies revealed features consistent with basal cell carcinoma and basosquamous cell carcinoma, respectively. Result: Final surgical pathology showed extensive invas

Context.— Cellular basaloid neoplasms of the salivary gland represent a diverse group of benign and malignant neoplasms with significant cytomorphologic overlap on fine-needle aspiration cytology. All are marked by the presence of monotonous and usually bland basaloid epithelium. Distinction between basaloid neoplasms on fine-needle aspiration cytology is based on the presence or absence of additional features, including a second cell population (eg, myoepithelial cells), an acellular stromal component, and/or cytologic atypia within the basaloid epithelium. Abstract Basaloid follicular hamartoma is a benign lesion of important consideration because it can be mistaken both clinically and histologically for basal cell carcinoma. The formation of basaloid follicular hamartoma has been linked to a mutation in the patched gene, which is part of the same pathway implicated in nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome. While these hamartomas are considered benign lesions, malignant growths have been reported to arise within them, which raises the question, “Is basaloid follicular hamartoma a premalignant lesion?” Correct identification allows for periodic mo

I present an integrated study of volcanic degassing processes coupled with the impact of degassing on magma chamber dynamics. A one-dimensional model of heat flow inside an incipient magma reservoir is derived by considering the thermal effect of repeated basaltic sill intrusions into the crust. The minimum magma flux required to maintain melt indefinitely, i.e. to form a ‘magma chamber’, is found as a function of intrusion depth. Despite the time-dependent nature of the modelled solutions, fluxes can be approximated by a steady state solution when cooling is dominated by heat loss through the

The other soils were not fertilized. All soils behaved in conformity with solid-solution theory. The project area covers approximately 300 km[superscript 2] encompassing parts of Amphoe Sop Prap, Amphoe Ko Kha, and Amphoe Mae Tha of Changwat Lampang. The area is mainly occupied by sedimentary (and metamorphic) rocks of Permian, Triassic, Tertiary and Quaternary ages. The Triassic rocks include the Phra That, the Pha Kan, and the Hong Hoi Formations of the Lampang Group. Igneous rocks comprise Permo-Triassic volcanics, Triassic granodiorite, and Cenozoic basalts. Sapphires are frequently found in alluvial and residual deposits, particularly in the northern basaltic area. Sapphires in the s

Abstract:
Stratigraphic and lithogeochemical data were collected from selected drill core from the Nugget Pond gold deposit in the Betts Cove area, Newfoundland. The stratigraphy consists of a lower unit of basaltic rocks that are massive to pillowed (Mount Misery Formation). This is overlain by sedimentary rocks of the Scrape Point Formation that consist of lower unit of turbiditic siltstone and hematitic cherts/iron formations (the Nugget Pond member); the unit locally has a volcaniclastic rich-unit at its base and grades upwards into finer grained volcaniclastic/turbiditic rocks. This is capped by ba
