Advertising is the mirror that reflects social and cultural trends and is capable of shaping society (Sivulka, 2012). We are influenced subtly by the meanings advertisers create in advertisements; in turn, our lifestyles and value priorities can affect the strategies of advertising design and branding. However, this mirror is distorted since advertising reflects only selected attitudes, values, lifestyles, and philosophies that work for sellers’ interests (Pollay, 1987). How much wealth has accumulated in the region and how is it distributed across households? Despite being widely recognized for its extreme income inequality, reliable data on wealth is scarce, partial and oftentimes contradictory, making it difficult to answer these basic questions. In this study, we estimate aggregates based on macroeconomic data, and inequality based on recently available surveys. We contrast our results with the literature, with a handful of state-of-the-art estimates from administrative sources, and with more available but extrapolated estimates from Credit Suisse and wid.

To talk about macroeconomics without pointing out the concept of economics as a social science is to start out of context, even though the reader may have an idea of what this means. When we speak of economics in general terms, we refer to that part of the social science that studies behavior in terms of the management of the resources available to meet their needs. Its particularity is that this study goes from the individual aspects to the general ones, that is to say, from the actions and decisions taken by the individual in particular, the family, the company, to the actions or economic mo

Abstract:
Canada's 6th Generation seismic hazard model is the basis for the seismic design provisions in the 2020 National Building Code of Canada. The 2020 code uses mean ground motions of spectral acceleration at 0.2, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 5.0 and 10.0 second periods, peak acceleration and peak velocity for a variety of site conditions. Users of the 2020 code access seismic hazard values by using the 2020 National Building Code of Canada Seismic Hazard Tool which provides values for any site located in Canada. The online tool accomplishes this through the interpolation of a pre-calculated dataset. This Open

The cocoa sector has, historically, been the backbone of the Ghanaian economy. Many households depend directly on the cocoa sector for livelihoods, and aspects of the cocoa industry, such as input supplies to farmers and cocoa pricing, have historically featured prominently in national and local politics. This paper examines the basic underlying political economy dynamics of the cocoa value chain, with particular focus on how the interests, powers and interactions of various actors along the value chain have contributed to agricultural commercialisation in Ghana. Streams can be challenging systems to manage due to their dynamic nature and complex feedbacks between hydrologic, geomorphic, and biological processes that operate over a range of timescales. Stream-riparian ecosystems, also known as riverscapes or river corridors, are affected by events ranging from single storms to large-scale landscape disturbances such as wildfires and landslides. Understanding riverscape dynamics is necessary for identifying potential causes of their degradation, appropriate management actions, and potential restoration strategies.
