During the past several decades, many studies have examined the emotional and psychological functioning of clergy and seminarians. In most instances, researchers employed separate measures to study general personality characteristics as contrasted with psychopathologic factors. In this study, the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory (MCMI) was administered to 52 first-year male seminarians at Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The MCMI is designed to measure relatively fixed personality characteristics in addition to more psychopathologic factors. As expected, seminarians e

Within psychology, subjective well-being refers to a person’s overall evaluation of the quality of life from his or her own perspective. Traditionally, psychologists have focused on three specific components of subjective well-being: life satisfaction, positive affect, and negative affect, though disagreements exist about precisely how these components should be best measured. Psychological research shows that intuitively appealing predictors of SWB, such as income and health, are typically only weakly correlated with SWB, whereas personality predictors tend to be stronger. Abstract:
For adaptation and personalization of game play sophisticated player models and learner models are used in game-based learning environments. Thus, the game flow can be optimized to increase efficiency and effectiveness of gaming and learning in parallel. In the field of gaming still the Bartle model is commonly used due to its simplicity and good mapping to game scenarios, for learning the Learning Style Inventory from Kolb or Index of Learning Styles by Felder and Silverman are well known. For personality traits the NEO-FFI (Big5) model is widely accepted. When designing games, it is always a challenge to assess one player's profile characteristics properly in all three models (player/learner/personality). To reduce the effort and amount of dimensions and questionnaires a player might have to fill out, we proved the hypothesis that both, Learning Style Inventory and Bartle Player Types could be predicted by knowing the personality traits based on NEO-FFI. Thus we investigated the statistical correlations among the models by collecting answers to the questionnaires of Bartle Test, Kolb LSI 3.1 and BFI-K (short version of NEO-FFI). A study was conducted in spring 2012 with six school classes of grade 9 (12-14 year old students) in two different secondary schools in Germany. 74 students participated in the study which was offered optionally after the use of a game-based learning tool for peer learning. We present the results statistics and correlations among the models as well as the interdependencies with the student's level of proficiency and their social connectedness. In conclusion, the evaluation (correlation and regression analyses) proved the independency of the models and the validity of the dimensions. Still, especially for all of the playing style preferences of Bartle's model significant correlations with some of the analyzed other questionnaire items could be found. As no predictions of learning style preferences is possible on the basis of this studies data, the final recommendation for the development of game-based learning application concludes that separate modeling for the adaptation game flow (playing) and learn flow (learning) is still necessary.

Abstract:
The clinical assessment of personality disorders (PDs) has been gaining increasing relevance in the pursuit of a comprehensive evaluation of every nosological entity in contemporary psychiatry. This section includes pertinent epidemiological data and emphasizes sociodemographic variables, family history, and comorbidities as eventual indicators of clinical course. After reviewing basic methodological issues, general prevalence figures, based on community studies and different clinical populations, are discussed. A subsection on ‘special epidemiology’ proceeds to examine specific aspects of each PD in Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fifth edition (DSM-5), as well as additional types and personality changes due to other conditions. The heterogeneity of findings, the complexity of clinical conditions and comorbidities, the uneven patterns of clinical evolution, and the impact of genetic, socio-environmental, and cultural issues configure a multi-faceted source of knowledge, applicable to a global diagnosis and treatment of PDs and related psychiatric conditions.

Abstract.—There is a great opportunity to advance our understanding of salmon life history modeling by expanding the use of quantitative data thereby improving model efficacy and precision. However, a lack of basic and consistent data documentation frustrates secondary researchers’ attempts to identify extant data and evaluate its suitability for use. We apply preliminary results of State of the Salmon’s North Pacific Salmon Monitoring Activity Inventory, to demonstrate the potential of simple metadata (data about data) to rapidly appraise data deficiencies. We focus on sockeye salmon Oncorhynchus nerka in Bristol Bay, Alaska using elementary but standardized information about long term, freshwater adult and juvenile abundance and age composition monitoring efforts in the region. We classify monitoring into either that of a metapopulation (Tier 2) or individual populations (Tier 3). To accommodate data on catch or harvest from coastal fisheries (e.g., test fisheries) that are often used as a measure of abundance or run timing, we established a Tier 1 (regional grouping); however, in this chapter we do not consider Tier 1 activities. At the Tier 2 level, spawner-to-spawner ratios can be developed for every one of the nine Bristol Bay sockeye stocks and stage-specific life tables, including juvenile stages, can be populated for two out of the nine—the Wood and Kvichak river systems. Each of these drainages has historic or contemporary, long term abundance and biological surveys for fry/parr, smolts, and adults. Moreover, routine adult estimates and biological sampling occurs at the Tier 3 level in these areas, largely due to the long standing research activities of the University of Washington’s Alaska Salmon Program. Given our current understanding of data needs in a variety of research areas, we also present a recommended set of ‘core’ metadata elements to facilitate evaluation of primary data for use by secondary researchers. Ultimately, it is hoped that this exercise will help generate more and improved documentation among those who conduct salmon monitoring. With concerted attention to documentation throughout the data life cycle, time and costs associated with salmon modeling science and other secondary research activities can be reduced and, accordingly, advance the scientific community’s contribution to salmon conservation.

Many universities in the world do not have this topic taught at the college level in engineering. The objective of the current work is to prepare teaching materials in nanotechnology that could be used in a couple of lectures to be incorporated in a junior-level course of thermodynamics or other basic energy science course. The aim of preparing these modules is an effort to introduce our current undergraduate engineering students to some important concepts in nanotechnology
