Abstract:
When field-dug, balled-and-burlapped trees are planted to the landscape, several options exist relative to wire basket modification or alteration. New wire basket alteration research has been initiated due to considerable controversy that surrounds some of the alteration options, and to limited prior research specifically addressing this issue. To guide this research, and to determine what currently occurs in the tree care industry, surveys of manufacturers of wire baskets, and of landscape contractors and arborists who plant trees, were conducted. Summaries of those surveys are presented.

Abstract:
Many new vegetative annuals are available in the floriculture market today. Their growth habits may be trailing or vigorous and more conducive to hanging basket or container garden culture. Today's gardeners are living busy lives and housing is sometimes confined, with little land on which to garden. These factors all contribute to the popularity of hanging baskets and container gardens. Whereas container garden trials are more common in industry, few universities have added container gardens and hanging baskets to their trial gardens. The objective of the hanging basket and container garden trials at Univ. of Tennessee (UT) initiated in Summer 1999 was to demonstrate and promote this timely trend to commercial growers, landscapers, and the public. An attractive brick walkway and wooden arbor were built by a UT landscape construction class to display the containers and hanging baskets. Several challenges had to be met: funding the purchase of expensive containers; planting and placing the heavy containers in the garden; combining plants within the containers; grouping containers together; labeling plants within the containers; displaying the hanging baskets; maintenance and pruning; and most of all, keeping the containers watered throughout the summer. The color wheel proved to be a useful tool for grouping plants and containers. A handout was developed to guide visitors through the container garden. Despite the challenges, the container garden and hanging basket trials proved to be a successful demonstration and were popular among visitors.

Abstract:
AbstractSelf-heating in packed paniculate that is exothermically reactive is a major cause of fire and explosion in the powder industry. This study is focused on part of the Auckland development of a mathematical model dealing with this hazardous process in industry using milk powder as an example. Milk powder is a primary powdered food product around the world. An update of the detailed mathematical model is given here, and predictions are made using the model to simulate the basket-heating behaviour of a milk powder in the laboratory (so the model can thus be validated). Basket heating in an oven is a standard laboratory technique for measuring the exothermic reactivity of a solid material. After a favorable comparison with the laboratory results, several aspects of basket-heating were investigated with a view to further improving the technique. Firstly, the model was used to explore the effect of elevated ambient humidity and initial sample water content upon the heating process in the basket. Secondly, the model was used to explore the cross over phenomenon which is related to a novel procedure for measuring activation energy and exothermicity (that is, the Crossing-Point-Temperature (CPT) method, which is a new version of the basket heating technique). The predictions together with the experimental evidence show that the reaction kinetics obtained using the Heat Release (HR) method (another version of the basket heating technique well published in the literature) may not be correct, especially for those measured at elevated oven temperatures and for larger basket sizes. Thirdly, simulations were performed to illustrate that the CPT phenomenon does not just occur at the center of the basket but also occurs everywhere else in the sample. This can become a significant advantage for further development of the CPT method in terms of reducing experimental duration and improving reproducibility.

In this paper, we propose a new measure for dependencies between goods in market basket data. The introduced measure was inspired by the well-known microeconomic concept of complementarity. Due to its similar properties to those of complementarity, the new measure was called basket complementarity (b-complementarity). B-complementarity not only measures the strength of dependencies between goods but also measures the direction of these dependencies. The values of the proposed measure can be relatively easily calculated using market basket data. This paper also presents a simple example illustrating this new concept, areas of possible application (e.g., in e-commerce) and preliminary results of searching for goods that meet the criteria of basket complementarity in real market basket data.

Abstract:
The basic approach of any kind of investor is to handle and minimize the risk and increase their profits. It is common fact that to manage the risk is not to have all eggs in a basket in monetary markets and this saying is familiar as diversification. The diversifications need decision regarding which basket to have which eggs and how much eggs should have in the basket. The lack of financial expertise in the context of mutual funds for making investment in markets has introduced mutual funds with the state of mind of financial experts. The experts of financial markets have only advantage since the fact that it is always win-win situation for them who don’t know about investment and decreasing the risk via managing funds in effective way by bigger portfolios and sufficient amount of money. As the mutual fund industry of Pakistan expanded with some pace in first decade of this century and due to this reason the performance evaluation of this industry become critical and hot topic. The study aims to measure the performance of Pakistani mutual fund industry from 2014 to 2017. There are total 233 mutual funds operating in the mutual industry of Pakistan, out of 233 mutual funds, total 45 mutual funds were selected for the study; 23 mutual funds were from equity while only 22 mutual funds were selected form money market. Sharpe ratio was used to measure the risk-adjusted performance of mutual funds and the Sharpe ratio in both equity funds and money market funds are positive, thus indicating that funds managers have the ability to diversify investment to decrease the risk.

Abstract:
After struggled for nearly 50 years, the city of Detroit filed for Chapter 9 bankruptcy on 18 July, 2013 and emerged from court protection on 10 December, 2014 brining to a close the largest municipal bankruptcy in American history after 17 months. In this research, we argue that the failure of Detroit is collectively attributed to the lack of a well-thought industry strategy. We structure a conceptual framework relating a city's industry mix to the population growth and its human capital stock. The stock of human capital is not only an outcome of the industry strategy but it feeds back to the industry portfolio. By using a time series data, we show a significant impact of the market share of the Detroit Three on the employment of the traditional industries in the Detroit area. The education attainment of the adult population in Detroit suggests a stagnant trend since 2005. Our empirical evidence jointly implies that an un-diversified industry portfolio of a city not only intensifies the correlation between its economic fate with the fluctuation of the focused industry but it also generates barriers to upgrade its work force and as a result, rebalancing its industry mix becomes difficult.

SynopsisSome main uses of the versatile genus Salix are described. The basket willow industry, once nationwide but now concentrated in Somerset, is covered in some detail, noting the site requirements and attributes of the three main basket willow species, Salix triandra L., S. viminalis L. and S. purpurea L. The management of the crops and methods of processing to give the ‘white’ or ‘buff’ coloured rods preferred by basket makers are described, as are the ability and versatility of basketry to produce containers uniquely suited to meet specific needs.Other uses of the shrub willows (sub-genus Vetrix) are outlined, including the stabilisation of slopes and other aspects of bioengineering, amelioration of difficult environments and large-scale amenity urban and motorway plantings.Attention is drawn to opportunities to develop the tree willows (sub-genus Salix) to meet projected timber shortages, to the use of willows for windbreaks and shelter, and to the culture and use of that very British tree – the Cricket Bat Willow (S. alba var. caerulea (Sm.) Sm.).

Abstract:
This article proposes a monitoring system that allows to track transitions between different stages in the berry harvesting process (berry picking, waiting for transport, transport and arrival at the packing site) solely using information from temperature and vibration sensors located in the basket. The monitoring system assumes a characterization of the process based on hidden Markov models and uses the Viterbi algorithm to perform inferences and estimate the most likely state trajectory. The obtained state trajectory estimate is then used to compute a potential damage indicator in real time. The proposed methodology does not require information about the weight of the basket to identify each of the different stages, which makes it effective and more efficient than other alternatives available in the industry.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the use of employee assistance programs (EAP) as a form of perceived organisational support (POS) to address workplace bullying (WB), from the perspective of employees who have been the victims of bullying. Design/methodology/approach Using an on-line survey, data were collected from 397 employees across a range of positions and industry sectors in Australia, who indicated they had been subjected to bullying. Findings The results of the study indicate that WB is rife, and although anti-bullying policies were in existence participants felt that these were mere tokenism. The level of POS and use of EAPs were considered to be inadequate and, interestingly, in some cases offered more support to the bully than the victim. Research limitations/implications With the increased rate of WB, organisations are seeking different ways to address this. This study highlights that the ability of EAPs to provide support to employees in these circumstances appears to be limited. The findings suggest that if management wish to use EAPs to support employees in cases of WB, they must invest more in them. Originality/value This study seeks to extend research into the management of WB through EAPs and POS and posits that there is a high level of dissatisfaction with management’s response and support with regard to bullying incidents.

Abstract:
The use of processing units for the production of mineral fertilizers in the industry in today’s market requires improved product quality and increased productivity. As a result, there is a need to change the design of existing units or some structural elements. Rotary vibroprillers, having a relatively simple design, can be of different designs that directly affect the productivity indicators mentioned above. The study considers the influence of the shape of the basket bottom on the quality of the rotational vibroprillers. After using the governing equation of prills motion in the airflow, a program was developed for automatic control of the rotational speed of the priller based on changes in melt loads. It is established that the size of the spray swath can be changed by varying the rotational speed of the priller. There is a tendency to affect the vibropriller performance by controlling the rotational speed and shape of the basket bottom without performance degradation.

Abstract:
Introduction. Purchasing power of national currency varies widely across countries and regions, thus inter-regional comparisons pose a problem of financial and economic indicators comparability. In Russia, this issue is being currently solved by using the state budget expenditures index and the cost of a fixed set of goods and services (consumer basket) calculated for each region. The aim of this article is to propose and evaluate an alternative method of improving the accuracy of inter-regional price differentiation estimates. Materials and Methods. This study is based on the research investigation by Costa et al (2019) conducted on a sample of more than 300 regions of OECD countries. Relying on that research, the authors collected relevant data on Russian regions and analyzed a multiple linear regression model. Within the model, a consumer basket cost was a dependent variable, and the average income, the share of industry and the share of services in gross regional product were considered as independent variables. Results. The parameters of the model revealed an acceptable level of its explanatory power (R2 = 0.76), as well as a significant influence of all factors. Applying the model, the authors received the predicted consumer basket cost. Both types of the consumer basket costs (actual and predicted) were correlated with the external factors of regional price differentiation, selected from the literature as evaluation criteria: transport infrastructure quality, social inequality level, market competition level, regional fiscal policy, etc. The analysis revealed that significant correlations with the external parameters were higher for the predicted consumer basket cost as compared to the actual one. The possibility of using the results of this study to improve the accuracy of the comparative interregional analysis of financial and economic indicators is illustrated by the example of comparing the nominal and calculated adjusted values of teachers’ average salary in all regions of the Russian Federation. Conclusions. The findings suggest that the predicted consumer basket cost allows to conduct more accurate assessment of the differences in the national currency purchasing power in Russian regions. The results of the study can be used to improve the accuracy in comparative inter-regional investigations of financial and economic indicators.

Abstract:
Most comparisons of construction industry performance requirethat construction costs be converted to a common base. Existingmechanisms for such conversions produce unreliable results.A proposed method for producing industry-specifi c conversionfactors was tested using a single building type. A basket ofmaterials and labour was identifi ed and weighted to refl ect the costshare of each item in a completed project. Prices for the basketwere gathered in three cities and simple construction specifi cconversion indices were calculated based on the constructionpurchasing power of each currency. The construction purchasingpower parities (CPPPs) showed marked differences from otheravailable conversion mechanisms such as exchange rates andgeneral purchasing power parities (PPPs) that have been used inprevious international comparison studies. While the study waslimited in scope, and is only the fi rst stage of a longer process, thesubstantial differences in comparative costs based on purchasingpower illustrate the problems inherent in international costcomparisons. For example, comparing Singapore and Sydney,Singapore costs appear to be only 40% of those in Sydney (basedon exchange rates) about two-thirds the cost of Sydney (usinggeneral PPPs) or almost the same (using the preliminary CPPPs).These results illustrate the problems of converting costs fromlocal currencies to a single base currency and suggest that furtherdevelopment is needed to improve the reliability of outcomes.

Abstract The paper deals with the influence of the operating environment on the safe resistance of the welded joint of the construction material used in the nuclear power industry in the production of spent nuclear fuel containers. This material contains a higher percentage of alloying boron and is used as a shielding construction material for neutron and gamma radiation. It is used to produce baskets for spent nuclear fuel containers. When the containers are being filled, the welded joint of the basket structure are briefly exposed to an aqueous boric acid solution. The aim of this work was to determine the effects of exposure to the corrosive boric acid environment on the mechanical properties of the material. Tensile tests on the original weld and post weld exposure in H3BO3 and corrosion cracking tests on unexposed welds were performed. The evaluation of the results revealed that the exposure to the corrosive environment of boric acid did not significantly affect the strength characteristics of the tested material NEUTRONIT A 976 SM.

Abstract:
Purpose This paper aims to explore whether India’s export basket in the bilateral intra-industry trade (IIT) with two of its top trading partners characterize robust export earnings or not. This is pertinent for two reasons. First, India has a persistent problem of current account deficit for over decades now. Second, whether India’s export diversification strategy by participating in global value chains to improve export share in the world market led to the problem of the fallacy of composition. Design/methodology/approach This study considers bilateral trade data between India-USA and India-China at the HS-6 digit level over the period 1990–2018. The magnitude of total IIT is computed using the Grubel and Lloyd (1971) index. This paper then uses the unit value dispersion criterion to disentangle the magnitude of total IIT into horizontal and vertical IIT. Through a stepwise econometric exercise, this paper explores the attributes of exported goods in the IIT basket in terms of the directions of ToT, export share and export-price elasticity. Findings Across the two country pairs, the major contributors to the upsurge in IIT are five manufacturing industry groups of chemical, plastics and rubber, textiles, base metals and machinery and mechanical appliances. Across the industry groups, the dominant form of IIT has been low vertical IIT. Most of the industry groups do not characterize robust export earnings as the commodity groups have an elastic demand and an increasing trend of Terms of Trade (ToT). The exceptions are the industry groups of chemicals and textiles in India-China and India-USA, respectively. Research limitations/implications The concern of slim export earnings in most industry groups offers scepticism in maintaining the sustainability of the current account. The problem of the fallacy of composition also cannot be ruled out given the dominance of low vertical IIT. This study argues that these industry groups need to engage in labour market reforms and require access to easy credit to achieve competitiveness in the world market. Originality/value The analysis performed in this paper attempts to integrate the Prebisch-Singer hypothesis in the context of IIT. Empirical evidence to such an issue is not profound.

Abstract:
Purpose This paper aims to present an approach to detect interrelations among product categories, which are then used to produce a partition of a retailer’s business into subsets of categories. The methodology also yields a segmentation of shopping trips based on the composition of each shopping basket. Design/methodology/approach This work uses scanner data to uncover product category interdependencies. As the number of possible relationships among them can be very large, the authors introduce an approach that generates an intuitive graphical representation of these interrelationships by using data analysis techniques available in standard statistical packages, such as multidimensional scaling and clustering. Findings The methodology was validated using data from a supermarket store. The analysis for that particular store revealed four groups of products categories that are often jointly purchased. The study of each of these groups allowed us to conceive the retail store under study as a small set of sub-businesses. These conclusions reinforce the strategic need for proactive coordination of marketing activities across interrelated product categories. Research limitations/implications The approach is sufficiently general to be applied beyond the supermarket industry. However, the empirical findings are specific to the store under analysis. In addition, the proposed methodology identifies cross-category interrelations, but not their underlying sources (e.g. marketing or non-marketing interrelations). Practical implications The results suggest that retailers could potentially benefit if they transition from the traditional category management approach where retailers manage product categories in isolation into a customer management approach where retailers identify, acknowledge and leverage interrelations among product categories. Originality/value The authors present a fast and wide-range approach to study the shopping behavior of customers, detect cross-category interrelations and segment the retailer’s business and customers based on information about their shopping baskets. Compared to existing approaches, its simplicity should facilitate its implementation by practitioners.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to analyzing the state of the stock market in Ukraine, identifying its main weaknesses and changes that have occurred over the past 10 years, as well as identifying the main vectors for its further development. The analysis of the stock market in this research is based on the study of the basic principles of its functioning, assessment of the dynamics and changes in the structure of the PFTS stock index (First Stock Trading System). To achieve the goal of the study, the authors used methods of analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, comparative analysis, tabular and graphical methods. The dynamics of the PFTS stock index for 10 years was considered and on this basis the main positive and negative changes in the stock market, as well as periods of growth and crisis were identified. The structure of the PFTS stock index during 2012-2021 was assessed. The list of sectors of the Ukrainian economy that were represented in the index basket was analyzed. The causes of changes and fluctuations in this stock index were identified. It was proved that in addition to the crisis and cyclical fluctuations of the economy, the dynamics of the PFTS stock index was also influenced by its structure by industry and the number of companies represented in the basket. Thus, there is a constant trend to reduce the number of enterprises in the index basket, as well as changes in its structure. The reasons why a number of companies started to leave this stock exchange or the national stock market as a whole were investigated. For a more in-depth analysis, the structure of gross domestic product during 2012-2020 was analyzed and this structure was compared with the structure of the index basket. It was found that most sectors of the economy did not have significant changes in the overall structure of GDP, but the share of these sectors decreased significantly in the PFTS index basket. Based on the results of the analysis, ways and prospects for improving the current situation on the stock market in Ukraine were identified, as well as a number of tasks that should be a priority in building a strong and stable Ukrainian economy.

Abstract:
Natural fiber composites have a growing popularity as alternative materials to petroleum-based plastics and glass fiber reinforced composites due to various economic and environmental reasons. Textile preforms such as woven, knitted, braided, nonwoven, and multiaxial fabrics are commonly used in composite industry due to their high mechanical properties, tailorability, ease of handling during production, and versatility in material design. A range of properties can be obtained by varying the weave pattern and fabric architecture in woven fabric composites. In this study, epoxy composites reinforced with hemp woven fabrics with four different weave types were produced. The weave types chosen were quasi-unidirectional (UD), plain, basket 2/2, and twill 2/2 which are commonly used in the composite industry. Fabric properties such as yarn angle, yarn density, and crimp ratio were determined to evaluate their possible effect on composite properties. Tensile and three-point flexural tests were conducted in order to determine the effect of weave type on the mechanical properties of the resulting composites. It was found that UD composites show the highest tensile strength, tensile modulus, flexural strength, and flexural modulus in the 0° (yarn) direction. Plain weave fabric composites showed the second highest tensile and flexural strength and moduli followed by basket 2/2 weave composites. Composites reinforced with twill 2/2 woven fabrics showed the lowest mechanical properties due to high yarn crimp and yarn angle, less balanced structure, and resulting shear forces involved during various loading conditions.

Abstract:
This paper aims to analyze the dynamics of retail innovation and store format, in particular underlining the variables that have led retailers in a return to the concept of neighbourhood, understood as relational proximity to the consumer. In particular, it shows that the concept of neighbourhood is evolving towards new patterns that deviate from previous interpretations of literature that identified under a purely dimensional aspect; today the format of neighbourhood is synonymous with relational proximity with the consumer and this assumption leads to consider proximity also a large store. The economic crisis and the changing lifestyles of consumers have brought independent and associate retailers to reinterpret its format by thinking like a basket of attributes, which includes further services in order to satisfy better consumer needs. The work shows that retail innovation is oriented towards the concept of relational proximity, whose main strength is the ability of the entrepreneur to be in direct relationship with its customers and to be able to get and interpret changes in the market, thus creating a sustainable competitive advantage.

Abstract:
This study investigated the critical determinants of commercial bank profitability in Nigeria. The objective was to develop empirical models for predicting commercial bank profitability. The study adopted a combination of ex-post facto and survey research design in data collection and analysis, while quantitative and qualitative tools were employed in data analysis. The CAMELS performance basket provided the framework that guided the investigation. Two industry drivers (bank size and market share) and one macroeconomic driver (cyclic output growth rate of the economy) were included into the CAMELS basket. The quantitative approach made use of descriptive statistics and set of econometric tools in the analysis. The result of econometric analysis identified assets quality, liquidity and earnings as the significant determinants of commercial bank profitability in Nigeria. The result of the qualitative analysis based on expert opinion equally identified asset quality, earnings and liquidity as three top determinants of commercial bank profitability. This also validates the result of quantitative analysis. The study concludes that irrespective of whatever is the industry and macroeconomic state of the economy, commercial banks’ ability to remain profitable, strictly dependent on the capacity of internal management to invest the banks resources into quality assets that affords the bank the opportunity to maintain optimal liquidity and generate earnings sufficient to offset all associated cost of doing business as well as create positive margin adequate to reward shareholders. Based on the above conclusion, the study recommends for increased capacity building (technical and managerial) of internal managers of commercial banks in Nigeria for enhanced strategic, tactical and operational planning and management of banks.

PurposeThe aim of this research is to examine the key determinants influencing the success of new service development projects (NSDPs) across four service typologies context.Design/methodology/approachThe researchers used the scenario-based survey method in an NSDP setting. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to test the proposed hypotheses based on survey data from 570 managers under four service typologies.FindingsService firms' cross-functional integration (CFI) and internal project team efficiency (IPTE) positively influenced NSDPs. The results also indicated that both technology infrastructure (TI) and IPTE mediated the relationship between CFI and NSDPs. In addition, the mediation effect of TI existed between the relationship of IPTE and NSDPs. Furthermore, the proposed model confirms that, for NSDPs, the role of knowledge-sharing behaviour (KSB), authentic leadership (AL) and firm's culture (FC) across the four service typologies moderated the relationship.Practical implicationsWith a better understanding of the dynamics of the aforementioned variables, service managers and the project team can more effectively develop and execute strategies for an NSDP. The article enables practitioners to expand their current understanding of NSDPs by providing insights of the unique antecedents that are significant for new service development across four service types.Originality/valueThis research is the first of its kind to examine the mediating role of KSB and TI in determining NSDPs. This study provides one of the first empirical examinations on NSDPs in the context of four service typologies from the perspective of a developing country, where the service industry is competitive. The study demonstrates that the critical success factors of NSDPs do not differ across service types, thereby confirming the “One Basket Fits all” assumption in the current NSDP research study.

Abstract:
Electroplating is a process of depositing a layer of metal onto another base metal using the electrodeposition technique, where an acid is used as a medium of transferring the desired metal onto the base metal. During electroplating some amount of anodes are wasted and burnt and ended up not being used on the end product. A series of experiments with various input parameters were carried out in order to identify the best possible setting which would result in minimum anode usage. The experiments were designed using two level full factorial design. It was observed from factorial analysis that all the input variables like the porosity of anodes in anode basket, concentration of electrolyte and applied voltage have pronounced effect on the anode usage; however, the most significant influence was from porosity. The usage of the anodes was much less as the porosity due to the arrangement of anode in anode basket decreased. The interactive affects of the input variables such as the porosity and the voltage, and the porosity and the concentration were also prominent. The optimum operating conditions were identified by response optimizer plot and were verified experimentally. Both the analytical and experimental results indicated that anode usage could be reduced by 6.12% from that of the current practice. Hence it can be concluded that the operating variables in electroplating industry have significant effect on anode usage.

Noteworthy is its rich chemical composition, which is dominated by flavonoids and terpenoids. Terpenoids are mainly represented by specific for this species oleanolic acid derivatives: triterpenoid saponins – calendulosides A-H and triterpenoid glycosides, so-called calendulaglycosides A and B. The biological activity profiles of the raw material, such as anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, immunostimulatory and antioxidant properties, determine its use especially in the treatment of dermatological diseases. Interestingly, recent scientific studies proved, in addition to spasmolitic, hypolipemic and antidiabetic properties, such heath promoting activity as cardioprotective, hepatoregenerative, pancreas regenerating, neuroprotective and even anticancer activities. Moreover, C. officinalis is used in cosmetology and food industry.

A closely related issue, revaluation is the need to regularly update the value of a stock. This need is especially acute in the growing industry of wine as an investment. In this case, fair-value measurement is compulsory by law. We briefly review methods available to funds and introduce a new quantitative method aimed at achieving compliance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standard) 13 for fair valuation. The current state of oil-processing industry is reflected in this article, the main problems of the entities of the Orenburg region are considered. Foreign experience of functioning of the largest world companies is given as comparison and carrying out the detailed analysis (ExxonMobile, Shell, BP, etc.). It is revealed that the production relation at the leading energy industries world companies to conversion is less «1» that speaks about their orientation on high loading and deep conversion while on domestic enterprises this indicator is more than «1». That is the Russian entities are generally export-oriented. Besides, the oil-processing industry of the Orenburg region is characterized by high wearing of fixed assets, low depth of conversion, a high share of «dark» oil products in the total amount of products and as a result – low «light», that is the share products with a high value added is extremely small. In work are developed for liquidation of this imbalance and certain measures, including, measures of tax incentives of release of high-quality (high-octane) products are proposed for implementation. At the same time, at the oil processing entities of the region positive shifts are already distinctly traced: by the leading scientific institutes of the country (CJSC Neftekhimproekt, PJSC Samaraneftekhimproyekt, PJSC NPP Neftekhim, etc.) based on the accumulated domestic and international experience, it is developed and the development program of industries of this industry is implemented, positive dynamics of growth of amounts of oil refining, gradual improvement of quality of the issued motor fuels due to a construction new and upgrades of the existing objects, refusal of production of ethylated motor gasolines, increase in a share of release of the high octane gasolines and environmentally friendly diesel fuels corresponding to quality of euro-5 is traced. Authors consider that the package of measures given in this article will provide a way to innovative and technology development not only oil-processing industry of the region, but also national economies in general.

“Do not put all eggs in one basket.” This risk management principle applies to every other industry whether it be manufacturing or banking. Interest income is believed to be a bank's primary source of income. Banks diversify their operations to generate non-interest income and lower their total risk exposure. Applying panel-data regression, the study analyzes and compares the intensity of diversification of income sources between public and private sector banks in India, using secondary data for Indian financial years 2012-13 to 2020-21. It utilizes RAROA and Z-Score to examine the impact of income diversification on profitability and risk, respectively. It discovered that private banks are more diversified than public banks. With low levels of diversification, public banks had a positive impact on profitability and risk. This is evident from research that banks leverage income diversification as a tool to fight COVID-19 backed slowdown.

Picking clothing has always been a great challenge in laundry or textile industry automation, especially when some clothes are of the same colors, material and entangled with each other. In order to solve the problem, we present a grasp pose determination method to pick towels placed in a laundry basket or on a table. In our method, it is not needed to segment towels into independent items and the target towels are not necessarily distinguishable in color. The proposed algorithm firstly segments point clouds into several convex wrinkles, and then selects the appropriate grasp point on the candidate convex wrinkle. Moreover, we plan the grasp orientation with respect to the wrinkle which can effectively reduce the grasp failure caused by the inappropriate grasp direction. We evaluate our method on picking white towels and square towels, respectively, and achieved an average success rate of about 80%.

Abstract:
Research on information technologies (IT) in China has gained increasing attention in the international information systems (IS) community. This study systematically reviews papers on IT in China published in the ‘Senior Scholars’ Basket of Journals’ from 2000 to 2013. We have two specific objectives: to identify key research issues and trends, and to propose future directions for research on IT in China. This paper categorizes the global distribution of authors and their research methods. Five research streams are identified, including human behaviors in IS adoption and use, IS management, e-Business, social media, digital collaborations and group support, and industry and societal issues in IS. While each stream is examined in detail, we specifically pay attention to the effect of the Chinese context in each paper and the approaches to contextualizing the research. On the basis of our findings from the literature review, we propose a focus on the Chinese context as guidance for future research.

Abstract:
From 1733 to 1900, Moravian missionaries settled in West Greenland to missionize and teach. These activities resulted in local mission and settlement layouts that followed Moravian principles and at the same time adapted to local landscapes and Inuit traditions and subsistence practices. This article explores spatial data, objects, oral tradition, and written sources from sites at Uummannaq, Akunnaat (Lichtenfels), and Kangillermiut, West Greenland. At these sites, landscape use was transculturated, and the material culture changed among both the European missionaries and the local Inuit. Moravian missionaries traded European commodities for Inuit artefacts, and an Inuit industry evolved through creating souvenirs for the missionaries. At the same time, local Inuit material culture was influenced by the presence of the Moravians, who introduced written language, administrative birth numbers, goats, and new crafts such as European-style basket weaving. The cultural encounters at the three Greenlandic sites resulted in objects and practices that were cultural composites of European and Inuit ideals and traditions.

Abstract:
Purpose This paper aims to analyze whether the domestic policy reforms in India would suffice, or there is a need to conform to stricter international standards as well. The paper is arranged along the following lines. First, the paper offers a brief review of the cooperation in the field of harmonization of vehicle regulations which is provided by the so-called WP.29 Forum. Second, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) standards and their membership along with Indian participation in the forum are presented. Third, reforms in India through the “Make in India” (MII) initiative and its trade in the auto-component segment are analyzed. Fourth, the possible non-tariff barriers (NTBs) on imports of auto-components in select partner countries is computed and presented. Fifth, the penetration pattern of partner countries in India’s automotive sector export value chain is analyzed. Finally, based on the observations, key policy conclusions are drawn both from global and Indian perspectives. Design/methodology/approach This paper blends expertise in law and economics and enables readers to have a finer understanding of the automotive sector which is one of the most internationalized product groups in world trade, characterized by not only cross-border movement of final products, but also of intermediate products like auto-parts and components as well as major global investment and relocation decisions. This paper focuses on India for four crucial reasons, which makes India both a key player (and potential disruptor) at global level and the rather complex approach chosen by the country vis-a-vis many regulations (including UNECE and WTO), reflecting its tendency to rely on domestic consolidation through measures such as the 2014 MII initiative. Findings The data analysis in the current paper indicates that after conforming to the UNECE 1998 standard, India’s relative trade with these countries has increased both in terms of auto-components and automobile products. Moreover, the value contribution from these partner countries in India’s exports is rising. On the other hand, the relative share of the UNECE 1958 countries in India’s trade basket has declined and a mixed trend is noticed for the common contracting parties (CPs). In addition, the share of the countries without accession to any of the UNECE agreements in India’s trade has shown an upward trend. The observation indicates that the divergence in automotive product standards might crucially influence India’s trade flows. It seems that in the short run, an orientation for exporting to UNECE 1998 partners and non-members emerges as a dominant strategy, underlining a specialization in medium-quality segment. Nevertheless, the long-term robustness of such a move deserves closer analysis, particularly by focusing on whether India may need to join the UNECE 1958 agreement to sustain its export growth. Before joining UNECE 1998, the sector has enjoyed protection through high tariff barriers. Given the differing perspective on opening-up, automobile sector earlier emerged as an obstacle in conclusion of EU–India Bilateral Trade and Investment Agreement (BTIA), which is being negotiated since 2007. However, after entry into an regional trade agreement (RTA), tariff preference in itself may not provide a country the requisite market access. The recent standard-setting exercises in ASEAN, a group with which India is deepening trade integration since 2010, may be considered as a case in point. Research limitations/implications The analysis so far indicates that absence of participation in UNECE 1958 standard may restrict future options for India. Presently, Indian vehicle exports are reaching UNECE 1998 member countries (e.g., Ford India sending Ecosport to USA). It is also directed towards African and Latin American countries, presently not part of any agreement. However, the ASEAN countries, currently partnering India through free trade agreement (FTA), are increasingly moving towards UNECE 1958 standards. India’s sectoral trade surplus with ASEAN countries over 2009-2013 to 2014-2018 has declined from US$548.44mn to US$529.53mn, respectively. The potential challenges in reaching ASEAN and other UNECE 1958 member countries, in turn, may influence the relocation decisions of global auto majors in India, defeating the core purpose of MII initiative. Practical implications Given the scenario, a number of policy choices for India emerge. First, joining UNECE 1958 may not be a short-run option for India, but after evaluating the evolving trade pattern, in the long run, the country may consider adopting certain core 1958 standards, in line with its economic interests. Such a move may facilitate greater export flows from India to UNECE 1958 countries. The experience of Indonesia and Vietnam, who have conformed to select UNECE 1958 standards in spite of not being formally part of any agreement, deserves mention in this regard. Second, it is observed that India’s trade balance (TB) is not improving for several Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) member countries, in spite of obtaining tariff preferences through an existing trade bloc. Part of the poor performance has been explained by Indian exporters often using the most favoured nation route rather than the preferential route, to avoid the associated compliance-related complexities. The standards and mutual recognition agreements (MRAs) conformance provisions in ASEAN–India FTA are also found to be weaker vis-à-vis the comparable provisions for other ASEAN-centric bilateral RTAs with other RCEP members. This underlines the need for both rules of origin (ROO) reforms and agreement on MRAs, which may enhance the trade potential in general and in automotive sector in particular. In the short run, India should therefore attempt to enhance exports to the UNECE 1998 members and CPs, given the commonality in standards. However, in the long run, there is a need to explore harmonization with certain core 1958 standards, to promote exports in general and even within its RTAs in particular. Originality/value The automotive sector is one of the most internationalized product groups in world trade. It is known that harmonization of product standards with partner countries can facilitate bilateral trade flows. Presently, three agreements exist for harmonization of automotive standards relating to passenger and vehicle safety under the aegis of UNECE – UNECE 1958, UNECE 1997 and UNECE 1998. Through a series of reforms and launch of the MII initiative in 2014, India has deepened its presence in world automotive sector trade and aspires to play a bigger role in coming days. Moreover, India is a WTO member and has joined the UNECE 1998 standard in 2006, which means that several important conventions regulate and bind the country. The current paper intends to analyze whether the domestic policy reforms in India would suffice in promoting the exports from this sector, or there is a need to conform to stricter international standards. The data analysis reveals that India’s relative trade orientation is deepening towards the UNECE 1998 members and countries not part of any UNECE agreements. On the other hand, the relative trade share of the UNECE 1958 countries in India’s trade basket has declined and a mixed trend is noticed for the common CPs. The analysis indicates that the divergence in automotive product standards might crucially influence India’s trade flows in general and participation in international production networks in particular. The paper argues that in the long run, India needs to consider adherence to certain UNECE 1958 standards as well as speeding up the pending domestic reforms.
