This article sheds light on previously overlooked perceptions of Latvian traditional footwear and demonstrates how both the material of the footwear and the way of obtaining it determined whether shoes were considered sacred and pure or sinful and unlucky. An analysis of folklore texts and the results of a contemporary survey show that wooden shoes made of bast were looked upon as sacred and pure, as opposed to leather which was considered impure. Deviation from this order is influenced by various linguistic factors such as prosody, complexity, syntactic structure, animacy, definiteness, and information structure. Abstract Hitachi and Hitachi Metals have developed low thermal expansion Ni-base superalloy, Ni-20Cr-10Mo-1.2Al-1.6Ti alloy (USC141) for use as A-USC steam turbine material. The approximate 105 h creep rupture strength at 740° C is 100MPa, so USC141 can be expected to apply for blades and bolts. Now we have been studying to get better creep properties by microstructure controlling such as grain size or grain boundary morphology. In addition, the segregation test of USC141 shows good Freckle tendencies, it means that it would be easy to make a large ingot which could be used as rotors or pipes.

Abstract Long-term tests were conducted for several Fe- and Ni-base alloys to evaluate the metal dusting behavior. Test specimens with ground surfaces were reacted with a CO-H2-CO2-H2O gas mixture which simulates synthetic gases produced in reforming plants. Several pits have developed on the ground specimens of conventional Ni-base alloys after exceeding 10,000h when the heating at 650°C for 50h was periodically followed by cooling.
