El corpus de romances sobre Alcazarquivir es relativamente reducido, teniendo en cuenta la amplia repercusión de la batalla en otros medios. Son apenas diez, entre impresos y manuscritos. Sin embargo contienen todos los matices y hasta evolución temática que podemos observar en las numerosas crónicas y relaciones en prosa, impulsada por las necesidades políticas de cada momento. Entre 1907 y 1910, diversas compañías fonográficas con sede en Estados Unidos sacaron al mercado mexicano varias grabaciones en las que se podían escuchar, en situaciones diferentes, la voz de Porfirio Díaz. En un disco incluido en un catálogo de Columbia Records publicado en 1907, por ejemplo, circularon las enérgicas órdenes del caudillo durante la batalla librada el 2 de abril de 1867 en Puebla, entre las tropas interventoras y el ejército juarista.
