Abstract:
The technological needs to achieve CO2 neutrality during glass manufacturing have been investigated by theoretical calculations on energy balances and experimental investigations on batch reactivity and fining efficiency. The concept is based on the assumption of utilization of woody bio fuel combustion directly over the batch blanket and glass melt bath for heating the glass furnace. Energy balance calculations were made for a “hot top”, 50 tonnes per day continuous furnace. Furthermore, elimination of the chemically bound CO2 in the glass batch has been considered by investigating the possib

This paper gives an attempt in determining an appropriate production batch size by using simulation method. The case study of this paper is an industry producing hard disk drives in Thailand. The scope of the production process considered in this paper is in the backend area of the production process of hard disk drives. Three main customers are considered. Each customer requires different sample size in an inspection process and the sample size affects bath size. Therefore, this paper needs to consider each customer separately and tries to determine an appropriate batch size for each customer

In the conventional soda-lime glass production, loose raw materials are normally mixed into a glass batch for melting. Dusting and segregation of the loose glass batch are always occurred during the melting process inside the glass furnace. Also, the loose glass batch has low thermal conductivity which limits the glass melting ability and pulling rate of the glass furnace. Granulation and preheating of glass raw materials have been proposed to solve the problems. Batch sedimentation is a method that enables us to understand the mechanism of compaction and compression of sedimenting slurry. However, batch settling behaviour is a very complex phenomenon that is not easily described fully by a mathematical model. This causes unrealistically large empirical calculations when the thickener size estimations are required. Channelling, reverse concentration gradients and the initial concentration of the slurry have large effects on batch settling. Existing procedures do not provide clear relationships involving these three significant variables. In this stud

This polymerization process is highly complex due to the toxic nature of the monomer, the good manage of heat transfer and stirring. A novel sample efficient RL method that leverages Gaussian Processes (GPs) to accelerate learning from limited batch data is proposed.
