A lithium-ion battery pack enclosure which consists of batteries is the prime source of energy for battery electric vehicles, BEV. While electric vehicle is in running condition, the battery enclosure comes across the worst scenarios like the vibrations coming from the road and impact because of road surface variations. These will cause structural stresses and variations in deformations for the enclosure structure. Electric vehicle safety wholly depends on how safe its battery pack assembly for its mechanical properties, like ability to resist deformation under static loading, vibration, and s

In this study, structural optimization of an enclosure under bending and torsional constraints was carried out. Machine learning (ML) approach was used to calculate the objective and constraint functions in the optimization problem. The ML model was trained and validated with data obtained from finite element analyses. The optimization model was then solved by the differential evolution algorithm. Five thicknesses, which are the design parameters in the enclosure, were optimized for minimum mass, and according to the results, the enclosure’s mass decreased by 18.29%.

In a previous study, we developed a straightforward mNGS procedure that greatly enhances the detection of RNA and DNA viruses in human clinical samples. In this study, we improved the mNGS protocol with transportable battery-driven equipment for the portable, non-ta

Commercial wearable systems for surface electromyography (sEMG) acquisition often trade bandwidth, synchronization, and battery life for miniaturization, and their proprietary designs inhibit reproducibility and cost-effective customization. To address these limitations, we developed MOT, a fully wireless, multichannel platform built from commodity components that can be replicated in academic laboratories. Each sensor node integrates an AD8232 analog front-end configured for 19–690 Hz bandwidth (59 dB mid-band gain) with a 12-bit successive approximation ADC sampling at 1 kS/s. Packets of 120

Thermal energy storage (TES) systems open up alternative paths for air conditioning to increase the range of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) by reducing power consumption. The central prerequisites for this purpose are high storage densities: high-temperature TES systems are being focused on for heat demands, while effective solutions for cooling are missing. Due to their lower temperature potentials, concepts with high storage capacities and heat transports between the storage and cold transferring medium are needed. Latent TES systems based on water enable these capacities but require adequ

The Sultanate of Oman, being a petroleum-producing country, depends on fossil fuels for the majority of its power production. The fossil fuel sources are on the verge of extinction if they are used at the current rate. Globally, buildings are expected to generate the energy they demand using renewable energy sources and, if possible, feed it to the grid. Zero Energy Buildings (ZEBs) and Near Zero Energy Buildings (NZEBs) are put into action for the above purposes. The vessel detector design has different approaches with mixtures of analogue and digital processing, as well as continuous and duty-cycled sampling/processing. The detector

Lithium-ion batteries are fundamental to modern electric vehicles, offering high energy density, long cycle life, and low self-discharge rates. However, thermal runaway—a critical safety issue involving uncontrolled temperature increases—can lead to fire or explosion. Ensuring flame retardancy is crucial in accidents where battery packs are exposed to external fires. Additionally, battery packs are susceptible to mechanical stresses and potential damage from ground impacts like debris or uneven road surfaces. Effective thermal management significantly impacts capacity and longevity. This revie
